oh, interesting. we'll have to keep an eye out for that. that said, ideally i would like to be able to just ship a legacy version of the application (as it is now) with it, but i don't know if that will be feasible.

when you say 'how you name the file', what do you mean exactly?

just as a disclaimer, this is an early build of MKXP we're trying out and we still don't know what kind of issues this could create in the long term. if it ends up hella breaking shit there is a chance this may not fully happen, but as of now it's looking pretty promising. just don't take this as a guarantee quite yet.

hi guys. probably should've commented with this like two weeks ago, but... whoops. uh, anyway, development's been on a short hiatus due to potentially obvious Circumstances . i had some health issues for a bit (not covid)-- i'm okay now. and then my grandma tested positive for the virus, and... passed away earlier this week. so i've been giving myself a bit of a break. y'all right though, overdue for a screenshot. this is a good rainy day to post it on. pretty sure i haven't posted this one yet, anyway... stay calm, stay healthy

Would you post your save file? I heard about an issue like this recently from another person, but when I tested it it seemed that evolved properly. I'm sort of concerned.

There's at least one person working on it there!

i don't actually agree with most of the above post. like, maybe it's common, but that doesn't mean it was good. and i remember seeing the conversation as it was going down and being very disappointed with the tone of responses especially after you already asked to not be teased about it like maybe that is normal for the internet but as a community we absolutely can and should do better speaking more generally, these aren't good things either! it just invalidates other people's feelings, and while it may be common place i certainly don't think it is useful to anyone or worth accepting? losing and learning and improving is part of why games are great, because they set themselves up for you to be able to do that. but the answers aren't as obvious to a newcomer as they are to someone who has already gone through that process repeatedly. and for those people, it's easy to see the answers as obvious-- maybe even frustratingly easy. and so it's easy to forget what it's like to not have that experience and knowledge, and to look down on people for it. that much is naturally every day human, but we can be more mindful about that shortcoming, and more kind to those who are struggling. i'm very sorry it went like that. the server is a place to talk about the game, including complaints. they should be received respectfully, especially when it's outright asked. -
It's been brought to my attention that this is specifically using an early access patreon build of this program, which is expected to release publicly soon. Since the main version is already available and free we aren't planning to take down the links or anything but please consider supporting the app developer here! https://www.patreon.com/joiplay that aside, gotdamn. i'm impressed with the world. this is gonna change some shit around here probs.

I will always love you more than she, or anyone else, ever could. The Gossip-est of Gardevoirs now has her own wallpaper available in a bunch of resolutions! Head over to the Wallpapers section to grab one for yaself! E18 released almost a year a half ago (which, believe me, is absolutely murdering me inside on a daily basis) but believe it or not I've been sitting on this wallpaper since 2015. Our old friend Sleppu drew this one back in what might as well have been the dark ages and aside from using it for the E18 banner, it was always destined to be available for your desktop too. I've just been holding out on it to help tide over the long wait between episodes... Well, I wasn't sure when I would finally put it up but earlier today I was informed that our main discord server has finally reached level 2 nitro boost, allowing us to get a custom banner! Since I had to put this together for that anyway to match the present episode, I figured releasing it now would also be an adequate way to thank everyone who's contributed to us reaching this point! This is doubly important to me right now. I always expected it would be the case with E19, but this is the longest amount of time we've gone without a release since I started the game, and like I said, it is genuinely hurting me. So that being the case, it's incredibly important to me that everyone is still around supporting the game and holding out patiently. Not too much looks like it's going on on the dev blog scoreboard right now, but trust me that's not for lack of time being put in, and it won't always be this slow. Thank you so so so much to my patrons, to all of our boosters helping the server shine, and to everyone who's keeping the community thriving through this long night. Stay calm out there, we'll make it XOXO

Hi there! I appreciate that you respect me and folks in positions similar to mine. Still, I have some thoughts on the matter. First, I'd like to say this: You started this topic with a question. It seems like you felt that there was some information or understanding you were missing, and frankly I believe that's both true and a good thing. You are certainly not the only person who believes it's unfair or is confused as to why it's like this. However, being a topic about exchanging understanding ideas and understanding, this does not have to be a 'battle', nor should it be. We're offering answers to your question; you're not under attack. And I believe it would be a dire mistake to shut out viewpoints that don't align with your own opinion on the basis of assuming that no one would agree with you. There are reasons for that being the case, and those reasons can be understood and even challenged. A discussion like this invites all parties to do so. You don't need to find persecution in disagreement. Also for the record, I think there is nothing wrong with purchasing a pet rock if doing so brings one joy. Anyway, let's return to the main point. I think it's clear from your initial post that you don't see making videos as something that is either productive or work. I challenge this with a recent anecdote. A couple weeks ago, I put out a video about a game, Virgo vs the Zodiac. I recorded about one hour of footage from various save files I'd already made while playing. The end result was a seven minute video, but it took about as many hours to edit. I'm certainly not the best at video editing. I'm only a Youtuber part time, after all. But it is a significant amount of time and effort even if the final product seems relatively small. And among everything else I do, I consider it just as productive (if not an equal priority), as I am by definition producing something in that time. Aside from all of that though, I think what you're missing is the relationship and trust between the creator and the audience. I can be a personal example here as well. We're going on two years since I've released an episode (which is truly just mortifying to me, mind you...) but the community is still lively and folks are still out there on my patreon making sure that I'm able to work on the games full time. I am eternally grateful for the trust in my that they demonstrate by continuing support me through this long final stretch, but it is not by chance that they do. Naturally, I don't see myself as other people do, but I can point out some things that help maintain the trust throughout this time-- the dev blog and scoreboard, the fact that I am still active and very reachable in the community, the long history of releases in and of itself... All of these things help people feel more secure in the idea that I will be continuing to produce content that they will enjoy. What those Youtubers have that the typical gamer doesn't, is that trust. And similar to the things I'm doing to maintain it, they've done many things to build up their audiences as well. Even if their viewers don't monetarily support them, each person has still decided that it is worth their time to watch each video that they click on. A high subscriber count builds trust because if other people like this person's videos, they must be good at it. A lot of past uploads build trust because it shows this is something that this person has committed time and energy to and spent long enough on to be comfortable and skilled at. A regular upload schedule builds trust by demonstrating a clear pattern of new content that is visibly likely to continue. Responding to comments builds trust by helping viewers see the Youtuber as a person and connect on a deeper level rather than just Some Guy On The Tele. And this is all to say nothing of the actual quality or content of the videos themselves. I feel like the question of "why do they get to live like that but others don't" is a valid one in so, so many cases. And even as someone who you seem to respect, I find myself struggling with this a lot. I do not consider myself a spectacular person. I just like making games. And I genuinely grieve the fact that so many of my friends, and other folks on the website, or even just the strangers I see in day to day life will not get the same chance I have to do something they love for their work. That's fucked up. Labor systems suck. People should not have to be miserable for most of their adult lives, nor should we be setting up the expectation that they will. But I think the question of unfairness here is misdirected. Most Youtubers have put in a lot of work to get where they are, and some do so at the cost of their own physical and mental well-being. It's not just random or an arbitrary success.

I think there's a difference between changing teams to account for a new generation of Pokemon being available vs teams changing based on a setting in game in the same release... Heck, a better example would be teams changing between versions without a new generation. I'm not above retcons, but when leaders change teams between modes I feel like that much more transparently becomes about the gameplay rather than a selection of the leaders' choice in Pokemon. And yes, characters already use more than 6 mons througout the game as is, that's true. But given that we're not necessarily lacking options to increase the difficulty of fights without changing species, doing so and losing one the most significant, consistent aspects of the experience across playthroughs would be a needless casualty. That said, I think you're also conflating issues with the gen 7 updates. While I'm sure it's not the case for everyone-- trainers needed to get gen 7 Pokemon. And the Aster and Eclipse fight, for instance, needed to be nerfed. Those things could have happened individually, but it was a necessity in both cases. Even now that fight is still a difficulty spike for average/new players. I hear you in your saying you miss that challenge though and-- great. We'll have you covered. Frankly us not using Redux seems like it should be a win for you since then you just get to pick and choose which flavor of bonus difficulty you want. fuckin' MOOD (worth it tho)

frankly i don't care about legendaries either, but others do, and nintendo tends to hit games right at their completion through the champion (see: uranium, prism). in order to mitigate risks and make sure we can finish, we're doing it all at once. some other factors but that's the biggest.

it has been 15 years since i started running a website and i still have not figured out how to spell maintenance without spellcheck's help this weekend's site maintenen-- maintnec-- mainten.. you know what? fuck it. i quit. for the rest of the post, i'm replacing the word "maintenacnencne" with "flatulence." this weekend's site flatulence was necessitated because the evil overlords* who produce the site's forum software kindly informed me that if i wanted to fix literally anything on the site ever i would have to basically yeet the entire server and start over because the old server's equivalent-of-an operating system was incompatible with their product. this is probably all fine and well but i really would like to have been told that at any point before installing said system three years ago and spending no small number hours trying to troubleshoot problems that apparently and inherently had solution sigh anyway this hell flatulence was basically us rebuilding an entirely new server from scratching and taking the old site over and just... pushing it onto the new one. if you can't tell, this was a very painful flatulence for us, and we would prefer not to talk about that part of it too much. *they're not actually evil im just mad and it's more fun to say that way so, while you won't actually notice a whole lot of new changes as a result of the flatulence, there are a handful of things that we have reason to believe have been fixed. and i'm going to say this, and i say this knowing how much i jinx myself, because the second i post this this accursed hellsite will almost certainly choose one of these things or something brand new and annoying to break out of the sheer amount of spite it surely houses in its hallowed scripts nevertheless we are hoping our flatulencehas has fixed the following permanently: log-ins throwing an error message the bug that preventing reactions from working on the dev blog the bug causing users to be logged out when visiting the dev blog and other places maybe some other random things? eh? ehhh??? unfortunately, the flatulence is not without some collateral damage. for instance, you'll notice that some of the URLs of the site have changed. cass and i have had a hard fight and have done our best to make sure that external links to the site will be preserved, and to my knowledge we've done a good job of that! but this is a big site. if you find links pointing to the site or places in it that are newly broken, please let us know! there's a decent chance we can do something about it. another casualty of the flatulence, unfortunately, is Pokemon Showdown. while we could technically restore it, it would not be a small amount of work and changing IP addresses means we'd have to get Smogon involved on that too. given that our once-bustling server had been reduced to a bit of a ghost town anyway, and was not being properly updated or moderated, we have made the decision to retire it. sorry to the like, two or three people who still used it-- this wasn't planned, but it was probably inevitable. we've also taken the opportunity to do some other improvements during the flatulence. most of them are small and hardly worth mentioning, but you will notice that to compliment our now better functioning react system, the options have changed a bit. the old style of emojis have been phased out in favor of the discord-style ones the site already uses, meaning you can now at people's posts. and that's what's really important, i think. we've also updated the site's home page-- did you know we had a home page? i sure didn't-- with a handful of quick links for both reborn and rejuvenation, so hopefully new users and returning people alike can get around a bit quicker. maybe someone will even read the FAQ. ...yeah i know, that's silly. that's about it though. if you haven't already checked the newly-repaired dev blog, i suggest you do so! but all that said and done, i will officially draw this long, winding, nightmarish flatulence to a close. thanks, everyone, for bearing with us during it.
