I haven't seen any solid or even remotely convincing evidence that there will be a new region any time soon. There will be Volcanion, Dianicie and Hoopa and there'll be Hoenn remakes and a Pokemon Z in a year or two or three, but there's no point in dillydallying with these.
As for why to include it anyway, it's very important to me as a player that the games I play be up to date, otherwise I feel like I'm taking a step back. I know others will feel that way, and I don't want my players to feel like they're going on a dated project. ...despite the fact that the graphics are 3rd gen style. Let's just ignore that.
Also, there are already other Essentials projects that have 6th gen.
Firstly in regards to that, the guy who's been working on those is a friend of mine who codes a bit every night. He's often at a loss for projects, so I gave him one. Even if he does get bored of it, I'll at least know and can make decisions based on that.
That said, I have no intention of delaying the 10.5 release for the sake of scripts. Those things have been incomplete thus far and it won't kill anyone if they continue to be incomplete. Those items will probably be an on-going task.
That just means that it's being released in a normal time frame. If I weren't having people from the community help, it would take me much longer to implement this stuff.
That's planned for 10.5, but yes. That's the exciting part actually, because I'm going to redo all available pokemon (and TMs) and take a more systematic approach. This will probably mean I'm not going to make the silly mistake of putting Abra and Magby into the early game, crowding out other lower-tier options; there are a few things I need to do over anyway. Also, I'm very excited for 6th gen's introduction of alternate tall grass, which will allow me to visually spruce up some areas, and non-grass encounters which I intend to include as well. Also on the list for this update is removing 1-2% encounter rates because those just aren't fun for anyone; most of those Pokemon will probably be modeled into events.
That's the fun part, though. Right now we're still in the drudge of sprites.
I would love to work on Episode 11 while everyone is working on 10.5 but there are certain things only I can do for 10.5. Now, I am doing my best to mitigate those; I have a text document outlining exactly what others can do and what I need to do, and I try to donate as much work as I can to the forum so that I can focus on the things I must do. Presently, that means I'm a sprite factory. In a week I'll probably be doing corrections. After that? Well, then I can probably start working on the stuff I described above.
