  1. ...Sidewalks, you say...
  2. So after watching others play, especially between Julia and Corey's gym, I've noticed some patterns about how people go through the game. And what I'm talking about specifically, is when people go back to heal. There are always certain times when, for instance, you're in the Malchous Forest and your team is running low so you need to go back and heal- but it's suuuuch a pain to walk all the way back to the center. It's boring, tedious, and adds nothing to the game. And players seem to be somewhat consistent about the points at which they need to do this while moving through the story. So Ame thinks to herself, well, gee, I wish I could just save people the trouble. because contrary to popular belief, ame is not evil I think it would be neat if there was some kind of immobile one-time healing spot in certain places. So, you know, you just beat this trainer and you're waist-deep in this dungeon, and you're thinking, Darn, my team is pretty weak... I need to heal soon. And then boom, right there in front of you, you see a Whatever, and you're like, Oh, hey! A Whatever! Now I don't have to backtrack! and you go on with life happily. This adds a lot for me as a developer because it means I can make more involved dungeons without worrying about tiring out the player's team on wilds and trainers, and it would hopefully alleviate some of the more annoying parts of playing. My question is- What is that Whatever, in terms of the story? Is it some kind of Pokemon that pops up and heals you? Another kind of glowing stone? Maybe just a man-made item that you can't take with you? It would need to appear in both the wilderness and civilised locations, so I'm afraid do anything too industrial or too nature-based. Does anyone have any concerns with implementing a thing like this- or ideas as to what the Whatever could be?
  3. Oh. If you told it to process it like that, then it's right. And it does say Rxdata on the file type thing. So yeah, just rename that.
  4. So I mentioned in the news topic that I want to release this 9.5 to fix lag, but since I'm going to have to remap a lot of things anyway I also want to take some time and do a little bit of a visual upgrade on some of the more visually 'flat' areas of the game. Before I outline what all of those are though, I want to open up the floor to feedback from all of you because my perspective will obviously be different. My sense of it is- some locations in this game really pop. They're vibrant, full of life, colour and depth. I put a lot of work into things like the Wasteland, Apophyll, and even the Tanzan Depths- And I really feel like that shows. I'm proud of those areas, and I want to bring the others up to speed. In particular, my focus is going to be on the indoor-dungeons and main city. Although I'm talking about 'colour' here, it's true that Reborn city itself is supposed to be a rather colourless, dark, industrial city. Nonetheless, I feel like I can at least distinguish the wards from each other a little better. In regards to the indoor things, I dunno about you guys, but I'm getting tired of trudging through Meteor Base number X that looks exactly the same as every other one. I also feel like the Orphanage and the Slums could use some work. I want to bring these areas up to par with the other ones. Here are some areas that I feel confident in- that I think are pretty solidly developed: The Grand Stairway Shade's Gym Apophyll Beach Azurine Island Byxbysion Wasteland Spinel Town and the Voclain Estate The Tanzan Depths So here's my current working list of things that need improvement: Differentiate meteor base interiors Differentiate wards Visual overhaul of Obsidia Slums Overhaul of the Orphanage Make Rhodochrine feel a little more "jungle"ish. Questions for you guys: What other areas do you feel might need attention? Do you disagree with anything on my list of things that are 'good'? If so, why? Do you have any ideas for stuff to separate the wards/bases from each other? Is there anything that you feel like was missing from any certain area? Things you may have expected to see, or thought would be cool Any other ideas?
  5. It shouldn't be notepad-openable. Are you sure you have the right file?
  6. Idek tbh that was a long time ago and everyone was just kind of joking around That guy sounds exactly like the kind of person I'd like to punch in the face. Women have probably never been content with their place in history; but until recently we didn't have adequate ways to express that- at least not without being completely written off. And funny how, we still sometimes are. If women are hired less, it's not because we're inferior. It's because managers and CEOs are biased. They believe women are worthless, particularly if we're unattractive, and they impose their judgments unfairly onto others. There's nothing psychologically that differentiates women from men in a significant way. There are some statistically significant differences in areas of preformance- such as, men tend to be better regarding spacial relations, whereas women tend to score higher with linguistics. However, these differences are really quite negligible when meassured, and in themselves can probably be explained by cultural expectations too, rather than neurological ones.
  7. I am female. It's probably better just to disregard the antics on the first page. Nonetheless, there are countless talented and brilliant women- although society likes to do us the disfavor of obscuring our gender's accomplishments. Tell me about this asshole. How did he convince you?
  8. Try downloading the new episode, heavens. Animated sprites are no longer included with that, and the Big Root has been fixed.
  9. Whatever folder the files for the game are in Probably called "Pokemon Reborn" >>
  10. The music is going to be because you downloaded the Update Pack rather than the full download. So just get the full one, or merge the update into your Episode 8 With the level thing, it's 4 AM and I'm not sure I'm understanding correctly. So you've beaten Serra and all your Pokemon are level 56? If they still obeyed after that in the last episode that's an error on my part. Common Candy would be the way to go. Sorry for misleading you.
  11. This topic was hidden before because I'm dumb and there were errors but there are no longer errors hopefully and if there are im going to kill myself <3 Other mirrors will be up shortly
  12. For once, I'm going to do an announcement entirely straight-faced. little does anyone know it is 2 in the morning i have been uploading for the past seven hours and i am anything but srs and well composed right now and i just fell out of my chair writing that so Okay, so as like everyone and a half knows, the site was down last week. A lot of people already have heard, but basically, what happened? We were attacked. By who, I don't know. Why, I don't know. I'm told that a lot of Pokemon sites have been hit lately though, including Serebii, Smogon, Showdown. So it may have been that string of encounters, or something else. The attack itself only took us down for a little but, but after that our old webhost was like mmm gurl naaah if dis is tha kind o shit peepz gon' be pullin on yo site, you gon' hafta leave. And then they z-snapped at me! Can you believe it!? I couldn't believe it. oh right, i was doing a serious post... So basically we had to find a new webhost migrate everything, and while we're at it, I'm like, let's change the domain. Poke-place was a dinky name I picked when I was 14 because this started out as a site just between my friends and I and I didn't expect it to matter or ever go anywhere. Let's face it. That sounded dorky. So yeah, here we are on pokemonreborn.com. So any link that goes to pokemonreborn.com will actually redirect here for now, however that won't always be the case, so update your bookmarks and get used to this new address. Yeah, the site was out for like a week, but you know, it's okay. Because even when we die, we'll always be... ...Well, you know. So we're here, and as of I think a couple hours ago Nyu gave the last of the thing the once-over so I think we should be in ship-shape. If not I'm sure I'll hear about it soon. The new host also claims to be prepared against that type of attack, so hopefully this doesn't happen in the future either. Now incidentally, that attack coincided with the day of Episode 9's release. But now that we have everything back in order~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pokemon Reborn IX: Sister's Keeper ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ALL RIGHT. IT'S HERE. YEAAAAAA. A few notes about this. This is a much shorter episode than others- kind of like episode 5 was. Very story-based, no new huge areas to explore, not a lot of sidequests. However, there was a system update, and some other things have been added, so think of it just as the next story chapter + some polishing. I'll post the notable changes taken from the Readme below. Another thing of note, however, is that I've pulled the Animated Sprites. They caused a lot of problems for a lot of people and lagged a lot of others and as cool as they were it quickly became not-worth. Plus when 6th gen rolls around they probably would've gotten cut anyway. Those of us with better computers might miss it, but a lot of people were struggling because of those. a clever person might find that the files for download haven't actually been removed; only the link has. but the clever person would do that at his or her own risk. Also of note: Before I start work on episode 10, I'm going to kind of do a restructure of a lot of things and re-release 9. The purpose of this would be to really try and cull a lot of the lag that occurs around Spinel and the City. However I've been reluctant to do this before because of how unstable this process is. It'll require a lot more testing than an ordinary release. So look out for release 9.5. Download link is below, notable changes in the spoiler. Knock yourselves out, everyone! http://www.pokemonreborn.com/game/
  13. That's... not quite so. The save files are stored separately, so copying the game folder isn't necessary http://www.pokemonreborn.com/game/save.html Use those instructions to find your savefile- then, just rename it. c: If you want to use it again later, name it back to Game.rxdata
  14. Yeah, that is true. However, at this point, I'm not sure that I have to worry about that. >>;
  15. The site literally just came back and I'm still getting everything back into order. Try checking back in a day or two. sorry!

  19. You can get full-screen-ish with Alt+Enter
  20. On a scale of one to Fern, how dickish would Ame have to be to make Vulpix, Zubat, Abra and Scraggy not available until later...

      I don't really mind, though it'd be a bit odd to go back and change something that's already available in the game. At least it'll make the game a bit more challenging. Having stronger Pokemon early on in the game kind of spoils the fun if it makes it too easy to sweep =P
