Hi! I kept forgetting to do this, so it's a good thing Horizon made that Christmas topic!
Disclaimerism: I know not everyone celebrates Christmas religiously- even I don't- but most people still celebrate it commercially in spite of that. Set aside religious differences and bask in some raw unadulterated materialism with the rest of consumerist culture, kay? ^^
So the older members will remember that we did this last year too. It went fairly well, so let's go again~ Annual traditions, yay!
So what's Secret Santa? Secret Santa is a practice in which people enter, and everyone is assigned another random entrant- but that person won't know who has them- to get a gift for. A day is chosen, and everyone gets a gift from someone random. Surprise!
Now, I know what you're thinking. You're thinking, "Well, I love you all and nothing would bring me greater joy than to bestow bountiful presents upon you all," (yes, that is how you all think) "But I'm not sure I totally feel comfortable giving out my address to people. Plus, I don't have much spare money!"
That's perfectly fine. Because being an internet community, the gifts we're giving are going to be digital.
What's a digital gift? It's something that's going to require thought rather than money. Know your person. Make something cool for them. Some examples (stolen from Saya's post last year):
Wallpapers, Drawings, Sprites, Cards, Poetry (collection), Fanfiction, Story, Photographs, Collages, Video, Song, Flash movie, Website
Alternatively, though! We have some toys available we didn't have last year- being an entire on-site currency system. If you know your assigned person has been wanting something (or a few somethings) from the Site/Sprite shops, despite the fact that we don't (yet!) have a system to give items directly, talk to me, and I'll make it happen. You know what? I'll even do it free of charge to you.
So! Who wants in?
In order to sign up, just post here saying so- but also, as a hint to whoever becomes your Secret Santa, you might also list some digital gifts, or things you take interest in they can work from, or even if there's anything around the shops here that you want.
Be creative, and have fun!
