Because 5th gen's artwork is largely unreleased, the scans we have are not high quality enough for me to use, yet, so no promises on including any 5th gen Pokemon. Rather, I'm looking to decrease the number of skins, since every time I change one, I have to change 11. So as it stands, I'll be removing Strength of the Sea, Bloody Nightmares, Sweet Pink, Teal Steel and Violent Magenta. Speak now or forever hold your peace.

Firstly! As many of you have by now surely noticed, and at the requests and recommendations of several of our members over the past few weeks- Ikaru has been promoted to a moderator. Congratulations to him. His position is to be welcomed with respect by all, especially considering a number of members had specifically said that he would fill the position well. As a similar note, I want to remind the members and the moderators both of something regarding the automod- It is not intended to replace the job of a moderator. It was originally created just to be turned on when mods could not stay over night- so, there is no reason that it should be left on during the hours when staff is active. In this sense, the mods themselves should be more embraced, as members would no longer be suspect to the automod's unrelenting (though sometimes humorous) judgment. I realize that I am in part responsible for breaking this paradigm, and I apologize. It will be soon remedied. On to more interesting things: In regards to Reborn League- We DO have Julia back. We also have her replacement to consider, and having introduced him to the behind-the-scenes of Reborn, I'm not entirely sure what to do with him now. We'll see how this turns out... Many people have been worried about their previous registrations. Do not worry- All challengers will be allowed to re-register their teams completely, without penalty to their existing badges. Trainer cards and the like will be updated as well. HOWEVER, do NOT do this YET. I will make an announcement at some future time with instructions detailing when and how to do this. One thing to keep in mind when you register your teams is that they need to be able to adapt to all kinds of battles. Gym leaders can and will challenge you to single, double, triple and rotation battles. Be ready for these. This may seem unfair, however consider that with each generation a multitype team's over all strength increases at a greater amount than any given monotype team can, by nature. The increased variety in styles is critical to allowing each type to make the most of its potential, thereby balancing the challenges. Gym leader ranks will reshuffle before the league reopens. This seems intuitive due to the shifting power of the types. Oh- speaking of re-opening: The league will re-activate after Rotation battles are introduced to the client (provided they are not delayed for much longer) and triple battles and such glitches are further ironed out. I am seeking audience with Coyote to get an approximate date on this event- among other things- and will relay this as soon as I do. One more thing- I'm looking for somebody to help Kitty with trainer cards, at least for the transition to 5th gen teams because a lot of cards will need to be changed. The ideal candidate has done spriting before, has some FTP experience, is open to learning to use a new program, active, mature, has Skype, and is willing to put up with a very tedious process, because as Kitty can attest to these cards are seldom a quick affair. I don't expect anyone to meet all of these conditions especially the first two, but if you are interested, please contact me through PM on the site or server. Both current staff and normal members will be considered for this job. And my final point this evening is in three questions for your consideration and the benefit of the site. I was going to make this a poll, but then I realized that in a poll you need to already have possible answers- which I do not. Anyway, #1- What do you want to see from Reborn? The question was raised by one of our staff last night that the only thing we have to offer people now is the leagues (and currently not even those!) SO, what ideas do you have of other things we might be able to offer? Note, in the past we have only also done regular themed tournaments, and those could be revived again, to a point. Or what else? I want ideas, people! #2- Would you be interested in Reborn starting a Featured Pokemon column? With 5th gen being fresh on the chopping block, now is the time to start articles relating to it before anyone else has marked their territory. Would this be interesting to people, and if so, what sort of things should we be sure to include? #3- Note the side bar to the left. What do you want from this? Aside from fixing its collapsibility- which I intend to have Hyperlisk help me with at some point. Given that the affiliate section must stay, what parts of it do you ignore? Which do you use? Is there something that needs to be put on there? I know I personally use the Reborn League links all the time, though that's just because I'm admin- and the log in is very nifty. Does anyone care about the "Go To" section? Feed me your opinions. I will eat them and grow stronger. Rawr.

My thoughts: I have yet to see Garchomp do anything impressive this gen. Is there a 5th gen Damage Calc yet? I wanna know exactly how much Ononokusu likes Ice Shard. I had no idea Salamence got Overconfidence. That's fine, just don't let it kill things. Dragonite's ability only halves damage if it's at full health. Basically guarantees one DD if Rocks aren't up, but otherwise, not great. Certainly not broken. Never found much use for Flygon, that isn't changing now. Altaria finds use, however, in being able to counter Doryzuu and Kingdra in their respective weathers if using a scarf (and assuming Kingdra hasn't set up). Cloud Nine becomes more useful with all the infinite weathers around. Kingdra got something new- infinite rain, making it just as much of a beast as Doryzuu, but still with DD, which in my mind sets it higher. Also, if Kingdra is on your team, there is no reason an enemy dragon should ever get to +2, and with decent speed and swift swim it WILL outspeed +1. Kurimugan- Gimmicky, but Rough Skin and that Helmet item can make a stall against physical contact. Claw Sharpen is weak, but this will be another dragon for the UU. Also, I'm moving this to the lab, because this is less about 5th gen gamesness and more about competitive battling.

Black Special: Black woke up from his bunker. He was sailing to Pallet Town where the fresh air was always clean for the pokemon. The country side was a perfect beginning for his new adventure. He didn't want to start in the Isshu region like everyone else... Sanary: Sanary stumbled down the stairs leading to Proffesor Oak's laboratory, completely focus on the new Pokeball, pristine and shiny, that she clutched in her hand... Her sole thought, as she slowly padded down the walkway read something like, 'squirtle.... ball... shfff.' ...Sanary, hadn't exactly slept the previous night, having been so preoccupied with getting her first Pokemon... Her mind fizzled with and emptiness and fatigue... but excitement! ...that she had never known before as she finally stepped back on to the street ready to begin her--- "Oof!" she cried as she slipped and landed face-first on the path. Black Special: Black then noticed a jerk on the boat. He almost fell off his bed, but caught his self. He then grabbed his bag and finished his outfit with his hat. He then walked out of the room through the hallway and then exited to the dexk of the ship. He then walked off unto the small dock and looked forward to the little Pallet Town. He smelled the fresh air. "Ready Bu?" He asked his first pokemon... Sanary: Sanary turned her head from the dirt, crawling back to her feet and dusting herself off with a disheartened groan... She looked around, making sure nobody had seen her graceless fall before wandering back home as casually as she could... Or she was about to before she realized that she had droppd her Pokeball! A quick glance to her left revealed that it was rolling down the path at a brisk pace- straight towards the docks, ready to plunk into the sea and end her journey before it had even started. She dashed after it in an instant with a crazed yelp... +AZKnight: Arizona relaxed on the edge of the water, shoes and socks stacked beside him as he soaked his feet to cool off. It felt good to be able to sit back and relax like this, a much slower pace than he had been keeping the last few days. If he weren’t a hardworking individual, Arizona thought the idea of staying in Pallet forever would be a fine idea. As he listened to the lapping of the water and his Pokémon partner splashing around, Arizona heard a shout coming from the docks. Lazily opening his eyes he saw someone running down the dock chasing after something as Arizona propped himself up to get a better look. Black Special: Black looked at the pokeball that came down towards the dock. "Pathetic... losing a pokemon?" He stopped it with his shoe and smiled menacingly. He picked it up and walked forward. He then walked near the girl and punched the pokeball right in her face. "You call yourself a trainer?" He said now a little more serious... Sanary: Sanary was-- startled, to say the least. But her astonishment was compounded as all within the same second the Pokeball was lifted from the ground, thrust in her face- and, as she couldn't cap her momentum, she crashed into it at full speed, toppling herself and the man that appeared in front of her over into the water, and to make matters worse, knocking the Pokeball away -again- off towards another random stranger who appeared to be resting his feet in the sea. Of course, she didn't have time to register this all before the cold surf hit her face, and she scrambled for something to cling to to keep herself afloat... Arizona watched as the comedic events unfolded on the dock, ending in a rather large splash. He could not help himself from snickering to himself under his breath as all of this happened. As he wiped a tear from his eye, he noticed that the Pokeball that the girl had been chasing after was now floating toward him. Standing up from his restful spot, Arizona gathered up his things and started walking around to the dock barefooted. “Totodile, fetch that item for me,” he said across the water to seemingly nothing. For a moment the device just floated there, but then a rippled rushed toward it and then the ball began to swiftly move across the surface of the water pushed by something beneath the water. Arizona quickly got over to the two splashing people and kneeled down on the dock. Reaching down to the water he asked, “Need a hand there?” to the girl. Sanary regained her balance, popping her head above the water as the darker man called back. She spit the water out and clenced her face in frustration before nearly blubbing down below the surface again... "Need a hand there?" She thought she heard someone say... And just as soon as she got the water from her eyes and opened them, she was shocked again to see a hand placed right before her face! Odd, how did that get there? But after a few seconds, she put two and two together, and took it, climbing back onto land with a sigh. "Thanks... That was-" She interrupted herself mid-sentence and blurted out, spinning around and lurching out towards the docks (quite nearly falling off them again). "Wait, what happened to Squirtle?!" Arizona helped to heave the girl back onto land with a final oomph. He started to wipe off the excess water that had gotten on him helping her up, turning to her as she started to say something. She had barely started to talk when she started to freak out over something and nearly falling back in the drink. Arizona reached out with a jerk when he saw this trying to stop her, but she managed to stay dry thankfully. She asked about where her Squirtle was and at first this confused Arizona as there was no such Pokémon nearby. Then it occurred to him where it was as he snapped his fingers. He gave out a sharp whistle and like magic the Pokeball in the water started to zoom toward them. When it got to the edge of the land it burst from the water in a shower, followed by an odd thud of something landing. When the glimmering mist settled down, there stood a Totodile with a Pokeball balanced on its nose. Arizona reached down and plucked the device, giving his Pokemon a congratulatory pat on the head. “I believe your Squirtle is in here, right?” he said turning back to the girl with the Pokeball held in his palm for her to take. Black rolled his eyes and continued to walk towards the small town where Sanary came from. He smiled and stopped. He actually felt like having a little fun... He then sent his pokabu out... he lthen stuck his hand out, back towards the trainers behind him. "Tackle the girl Bu..." He said smiling with almost an evil grin on his face... The pokabu quickly ran at the girl trying to knock her back down into the water... "Oh!" Sanary shouted with relief, taking the Pokeball from the other trainer with a smile. "Thank you so mu--" As once again, she failed to complete a sentence, she was suddenly forced by godknows what BACK into the ocean. Well this was just getting ridiculous! She heaved herself back out in an instant and back out on to the dock, and pointed with all her fury at the darker man. "Hey!!! Just what do you think you're doing?! Telling your pokemon to attack another trainer?! Just who do you think you are?!" Black Special: Black looked back as the pokabu returned to his side... " I think I'm better than you that's what..." He said smiling at the girl. The pokabu then rushed at the qirl again ready to attack more... "We will see how strong you are..." Sanary is active and ready for battles. "What?!" Sanary exclaimed, "But I only just got my- Oh, alright... Let's go!" Black Special sent out Bu! (Pokabu) Sanary sent out Squirtle! Fabian is watching the battle. Sanary: Um... Um, okay, wait, what do I do... Black Special: You are pathetic huh... Sanary: I bet you weren't any good when you first started either! Start of turn 1 Squirtle used Tail Whip! The foe's Bu's Defense fell! The foe's Bu used Tail Whip! Squirtle's Defense fell! Sanary: Squirtle, show 'em a tail whip! Black Special: Hmph Im a beginner too... Sanary: ... Sanary: oh. Start of turn 2 Squirtle used Tackle! The foe's Bu lost 26% of its health! The foe's Bu used Tackle! Squirtle lost 8 HP! (33% of its health) Start of turn 3 Squirtle used Tackle! He said laughing as he walked towards the town once again. He then noticed that route 1 would be about a 10 minute walk... Sanary: Sanary resigned with a sigh... "Well... I'm sorry, Squirtle... Return." The red light blazed out, and the exhausted turtle vanished. "Hey..." she called out as he left... "So you just beat me and leave? That's it? Hm..." Sanary slumped to the ground fighting back a tear. Her first day, and she'd had nothing but failure... "Now hold it right there," Arizona exclaimed as he stepped in front of Sanary to face Black. What he had seen was probably one of the most underhanded things, especially against a new trainer. It was one thing that he had won, but it was another that he had directly attacked the trainer and now mocked her. "You're not about to get away with that behavior. Certain...standards must be upheld, so why don't you let me give you a challenge." Arizona stood there glaring at Black before giving a quick whistle, summoning Totodile to his side. Black turned and smiled... "This is pathetic..." He said releasing his pokabu. He thought to himself how lame this was and how annoying weak trainers were... Sanary is watching the battle. Black Special: Pathetic... Start of turn 1 Black Special's Bu used Tackle! AZKnight's Totodile lost 28% of its health! AZKnight's Totodile used Scratch! Black Special's Bu lost 19% of its health! He does not seem to be upset about the loss as he calmly pockets the ball under his vest. "That kind of fighting won't help you forever," he states to Black. Black Special: Black ignores him and continues to walk through the small yet peaceful town. (These trainers need to get a life... I don't care about anyone else but myself. People never help me so why should I help them... there's something odd about the trainer who stood up for that girl, I better watch him...) As he continued to walk... he saw some pokemon like rattata, ponyta and bellsprout roam around the prairies... He smiled a little. (Those pokemon may be able to help me, but those two may need them more than me... I feel sorry yet I find them extremly pathetic...) He continued to walk and found that route 1 was staring right at him... tall grassy plains... everywhere. There was a sign that said route 1 to the right. He began to take a step... The Wildnerness! is active and ready for battles. Sanary sighed... "I guess there's no poi- Oh! By the way, are you okay? I'm really sorry to have dragged you into this... But thanks for standing up for me..." She paused for a moment and thought... before nearly falling sleep where she stood, soaking, dirty, defeated... She jolted back to consciousness, nearly falling over, but grabbed the other man to steady herself... "Maybe I should... Just... go home and clean up... Do you wanna come? The least I could do is get you something to eat..." She asked him, hoping that she might have made a new friend... "Yeah yeah, I'm fine, just a little...dissapointed." Arizona rubbed the back of his neck as he glanced back at where Black used to be. It always hurt to see what kind of trainers people were becoming these days. He didn't have long to think about it before Sanary began to fall down yet again. He swore this girl couldn't stay on her feet for ten seconds. Arizona dug his feet in as she grabbed him balance, trying not to fall down with her. "I'm thinking rest might be a good thing for you at this point," Arizona said with a little concern in his voice. "I don't know if I can come though, I have business to take care and I've already wasted time here and...." he paused for a moment as he thought about how nice it would be to grab a bite, even if it wasn't what he should do. But screw what was right. "You know, a meal would be nice, business can wait. My name is Arizona by the way." Sanary: "Great!" Sanary said, thinking to herself what a weird- but cool!- name Arizona was... Like the name of some far-off region, maybe? Or maybe just- oh, she was keeping this stranger waiting- well, he wasn't really a stranger now that they knew eachother's names- wait, she hadn't introduced herself, and in a second, she blurted out "Oh, weird- region- waiting- stranger- my names is- what?" She surprised herself even with that, and quickly facepalmed out of shock. "Sorry, my name is Sanary. Um, my house is this way..." She said, leading her new friend back... Black Special: Black began to walk through the grassy fields... he spotted a small bird pokemon pecking at the ground. He took out his pokedex and scanned the small creature. "T-this better be worth it... let's see how strong you are.." It appeared to be a pidgey of an unknown level. He then grabbed two pokeballs out... one to call out his pokabu and one to catch the pokemon... He smiled with an evil grin on his face... Black Special sent out Bu! (Pokabu) Wild Pidgey sent out Pidgey! Black Special: *starts over* Wild Pidgey: Pi-pi-caw! Black Special: Oh no... a wild pi-dg-ey Black Special: Pokabu tackle! Start of turn 1 Pidgey used Tackle! The foe's Bu lost 14% of its health! The foe's Bu used Tackle! Pidgey lost 9 HP! (50% of its health) Black Special: *throws a pokeball Wild Pidgey: *shake* Wild Pidgey: *shake* Wild Pidgey: *shake* Black Special: O3O Wild Pidgey: ...... Wild Pidgey: *catch* Black Special: TAKE THAT NOOBS Black Special: *shot* Black Special: *picks up pidgey Young Man: "Hi there!" Black Special: Black sighed seeing a young man up ahead... He blinked a little, but then pushed the young man out of the way. "Move weakling..." Even though he was taller than him... The Wilderness! changed teams and is now known as Wild Rattata. Young Man: The young man was startled by the trainer's abrasiveness, but regathered himself and resumed his normal pitch... "Um, excuse me. I'm from the Viridian City PokeMart! We have everything you need from Potions to Pokeballs so drop on by and see what we can do for you! In fact, here's a token of our service!" The young man pulls out his bag, and withdraws a Premier Ball, offering to the stranger. Wild Rattata: Rrrrrrr..... Ratata! Young Man: Without warning, a Ratata appears, snatches the Premier Ball and flees! Black Special: Black sighs... "Your problem..." He said.. (( Stay out of this...)) Black began to take a step away hopefully not to be interferred... Young Man: "Hey! Hey, what was that!? Come back here you theif!" Young man calls, running after it and dropping his bad. Several potions, pokeballs and an escape rope fall out, but he doesn't seem to notice... dieg0 changed teams. Young Man: A second Ratata appears in front of Black. It seems to want to fight... Black Special: Black smiles menacingly... "Fine.. I'll help you out sir..." He says taking out a pokeball.... GloveG joined the channel. GloveG left the channel. Wild Rattata: A third Ratata appears from behind Black and snatches THAT Pokeball too, running in the same direction as the young man had pursued the first... Black Special: Black was unaware of the random rattatas running at him randomly and stealing his thing... "Now... your pissing me off..." He sent out his pokabu chasing the third rattata... Black was now angry... "Go pidgey!!" He said sending his pidgey to catch the little theif... Black Special sent out Pidgey! Wild Rattata sent out Rattata! Wild Rattata: Rrrrrata! Start of turn 1 The foe's Pidgey used Tackle! Rattata lost 7 HP! (53% of its health) Rattata used Tail Whip! The foe's Pidgey's Defense fell! Black Special: Pidgey go get them! Start of turn 2 The foe's Pidgey used Tackle! Rattata lost 6 HP! (46% of its health) Rattata fainted! Wild Rattata sent out Rattata! Start of turn 3 Rattata used Tackle! The foe's Pidgey lost 47% of its health! The foe's Pidgey used Tackle! Rattata lost 6 HP! (40% of its health) Black Special: Pidgey hang in there!! Wild Rattata: Rata! Start of turn 4 Rattata used Tackle! The foe's Pidgey lost 52% of its health! The foe's Pidgey fainted! Wild Rattata won the battle! Black Special: ....pathetic worthless pokemon .... Black Special: *picks up escape rope... Black Special: *throws escape rope at Rattata Wild Rattata: Rata-? Black Special: Come here you little rat!!! "Ratta!" Rattata was gently struck by the rope, but in the surprise, it didn't see the trainer leap at it. In shock, it dropped Pokabu's ball, instead running in between Black's feet as he tacked it, and as he hit the ground with a thud, grabbed one of his empty balls with its tail, and fled the same way the first had. Black Special: Black brushed his clothes off and stayed cautious of wild pokemon that came in his path. He continued to walk forward through the grassy plain. (Those rattata were no joke..) He thought. Viridian City was still not in sight and all he could spot was grass and scattered trees... Wild Rattata: As he paced through the the field, several other Rattata seemed to be hurrying away- although they did him the favor of ignoring him now- it seemed a few of those even were carrying the Pokeballs of other trainers, all of them rushing to the west... The sun began to set, and Viridian City loomed ahead, as one final Ratta dashed in front of Black, Pokeball locked in its tail. It paused, glaring at him briefly, before following shortly back westward, and ducking into a glade of trees... Black saw the pokemon shadows through the pokeballs... he then followed the pokemon and challenged all of the rattata now that all of his pokemon were back. He sent both of them out both rushing at the rattata... "Come on!" Wild Rattata: A number of Rattata lined the thicket, more running in and out. Pokeballs littered the ground- some of them empty, others, doubtlessly, stolen Pokemon... Suddenly, a Rattata hold a white ball- the Premier Ball- followed in, and shortly there after the same man from earlier... Black Special: Black pointed out at them. "Pokabu!!" The pig pokemon shot out of it's ball rushing in towards the frenzy of stolen goods and pokemon... Young Man: "Stop, come back, that isn't yours," he cried, arm reaching out trying to grasp the ball from the Pokemon- But he froze when he saw the thicket, the population racing through, collecting Balls from all the different trainers. In the back, a pile of Pokeballs sat, a larger beast rummaging through... Wild Rattata: A flury of purple rushed to the defense, barring the way of both the pig and the young man. An army was ready for battle- but suddenly, the sea parted. From the back, three challengers arose. One holding a premier ball, one, Black's pokeball, and the third... The leader of the pack. The mountain of balls shook, and suddenly a large Raticate burst through them, its fangs rearing for battle. It growled, ordering the first two ahead... Wild Rattata sent out Rattata! Black Special sent out Pokabu! Wild Rattata: Rrrrrata... Black Special: Pokabu don't give in! Wild Rattata: Rata! Start of turn 1 The foe's Pokabu used Ember! Rattata lost 9 HP! (60% of its health) Rattata used Tail Whip! The foe's Pokabu's Defense fell! Start of turn 2 The foe's Pokabu used Tackle! Rattata lost 6 HP! (40% of its health) Rattata fainted! Wild Rattata sent out Rattata! Black Special: Take it down!! Wild Rattata: RATA. Start of turn 3 Rattata used Tackle! A critical hit! The foe's Pokabu lost 86% of its health! The foe's Pokabu used Tail Whip! Rattata's Defense fell! Black Special: O_O Start of turn 4 Rattata used Quick Attack! The foe's Pokabu lost 13% of its health! The foe's Pokabu fainted! Wild Rattata won the battle! Black Special: ....pathetic worthless pokemon .... Black Special: POKABU HANG IN THERE LIL BUDDY Black Special: NEVER MIND Black Special: Black and the Young Man fled to viridian, having recovered his own Pokeball, but lost the merchandise of the Young Man...
