  2. Hello and welcome to the new site! E16's community release is now available, but per the name, it is only accessible to registered forum members! If you happen to be a registered forum member, please sign in and head over here to get it! If you are not a registered forum member, it is not too late to change that. However please be aware that the reason we do Community Releases is not just a plot for registration, but because there may still be fatal bugs in the download and we want to make sure that anyone who encounters such bugs will be around for the updates to fix it. Please feel free to register and play the episode, but also consider sticking around for further updates! Thank you all for being patient with us through development and the site update! Enjoy! 3. Hello! So this is a little foreign to me, but please hear me out. Actually, I don't know how to say this, so I'll just put it straight-- I've started a Patreon. For those of you who don't know, Patreon is a crowdfunding platform that works on a monthly basis. Fans pledge to donate a small amount each month (totally up to the individual) and then in return, much like kickstarter, they get a set of rewards for that in return. This system allows people to support content creators that wouldn't otherwise have a way to make a living, and lets them make a living out of doing their thing! ...Like me! It is not really a secret that this kind of thing is my passion, and I would love to make games for you all for forever. But real life calls-- and the reason this is happening now is because my company just shut down. So I lost my job and I'm out on the metaphorical streets. And I could get another job... but it probably wouldn't let me work on Reborn as much. No matter what, I want to do what's going to give me the most time to make my games. And that happens to be this. I know a lot of you might be nervous about my accepting money for working on the project, given the copyright monster and all.. I am too. So let's talk about that. There's a few things I have going for me: We are not the first fangame to have a Patreon This Patreon is for all of my games, not just Reborn. I'm taking care not to be very public about connecting Reborn to this (although we all know that that's why most if not all of you are here). That's also why this topic is in a forum only registered members can see. Patreon itself operates in a kind of grey area where the donations are not for the intellectual property of (in this case) Pokemon, but for the work that the creator is doing. ...Based on those things, I'm hoping for the best. My end goal here is to eventually build up enough support that I can work on my games full time. That'll mean finishing Reborn first, but also Starlight Divide and another project that my Patrons will learn more about than they probably will ever have wished to. That always starts somewhere... So it would mean the world to me if you could pledge even just a dollar. Please visit the page to see what kind of rewards I'm offering for various levels of patronage! And, thank you so, so much for standing with me here, and for taking the time to read all this. Your support would mean the world to me.
  4. Patience is a virtue. And it pays off. It has been a very long road, so I do not wish to keep you here long. But before we get to the fun stuff, let's chat. It's been a year and a half since our last release, and many of you were not even around back then. Firstly, it means so much to me that many of you love this game so much not only to stick around here all that time, but to keep spreading it a long. It makes my day-- but not just my day. Probably my whole life. Thank you all for being a part of this. That said, especially for those of you who have not been around before, we should be clear on some things: Here are some critical points for E16 in particular! Okay, had enough yet? Not hardly! Below is the list of notable changes (Field Effect changes will be in the Readme)! Mirror 1 (Mega) Mirror 2 (Local; prefer other mirror) Finally, I know many of you are already happily prancing off with your links right now, but if you have a moment while they're downloading, I have a little more to say about my personal side of things, and I will do so over here. Thank you for staying with us through all this time, and please enjoy the episode! edit: Ame may have neglected to mention this, but please go over to the online information thread and give that a read before using the online features! ~ Marky Mark and the Codey Bunch
  5. Welcome! Please have a seat, get comfy, update your bookmarks, and explore the new site! Although we had been preparing for it for a while, everything you see here has only come together over the past few days! Please understand if there is still some dust, such as broken links, missing information, so on and so forth. All of your accounts have been preserved, however please be aware that your log in name may have changed. On the previous version we had Log In names and Display names. Log In names have been removed so you should now log in using your current Display Name. If you find any errors, please report them in our Site Inquiries forum, and if you have any questions, our lovely Staff will be more than happy to help. I'll also say this once more: We have changed URLs to something slightly more professional (and less likely to get smited by the copyright gods), so please update your bookmarks! Links pointing to old site will get redirected back here for the time being but other things may not, so it will not hurt to go over any saved information relating to the site. Staff, I'll be counting on you for a lot of that too. Thank you for being patient with us during the upgrade! View full article

    Welcome!

Hi! Welcome to the new development blog! The old forum was a bit cluttered, so I figured a new system would be best. Unfortunately I don't really have anything to blog about just now given the fact that we're coming right up on the community release-- and it'll be available by the time you read this after all. But we'll put it to good use soon, along with the progress bar widget we all know and love right in the top right of the page. For now, we're going to wait just a little bit before making the episode public. To restate, the reason we do Community Releases is because it's kind of a second wave of beta testing. Sometimes fixes we make during the beta break other things, but since that group of people has already played through it, it doesn't get caught. So it helps to have more people play just in case! After a week or two-- hopefully not longer-- when I'm confident the Community Release is stable, it'll be pushed to the main page for the Public Release, and then I can start work on E17! I hope everyone is looking forward to that as much as I am! Please feel free to leave comments down below; I always enjoy reading what everyone says.
  7. Really sorry timing that the site went down like right after you posted this... but uh, listen. You don't know how to sprite, you don't know how to code, and you're not going to learn if you avoid doing them because of that. I was not born good at spriting. I got better at it because when I was 10 I wanted to make games and so, not knowing a thing about it, I just went ahead and did the best my little ten year old self could do anyway. It was bad-- but more importantly, it was a start. And so eventually it became not bad. I think game projects are actually especially good for learning those things because they give you no shortage of end goals to work towards. Whether or not you finish the project and whether or not it's good, if you keep working on it then you're going to get better. And if you don't, then you won't. It is not easy, but it also not impossible. So throw caution to the wind and make that choice for yourself, hon. As for programs, the reason you're told different things is because some of it is up to personal preference. My preferences: RMXP + Pokemon Essentials (non-negotiable), Graphics Gale (spriting), Notepad++ (notes/organization/clean scripts), Goldwave (sound editing), Fruityloops (music) boom, done.
  8. Site's going down tonight. Run screaming.

The address of the new site will be made clearly available once everything is fixed. So if you come back here you'll be able to find it.

  9. just as an update, what i'm waiting on is more or less outside my (and everyone in reborn's) control right now... which is really frustrating (for like, everyone involved). like. it could be fixed tomorrow. or it could take another week. Because of some new features and content in E16 I am pretty apprehensive to release the episode right before the site goes down for like ever... I hope you'll understand. So please be patient with me! We've made it this far... hopefully just a little bit more!

  11. The Community Release will be in a forum visible only to registered members-- it's currently hidden though. About the beta, I know it's taken a while, there've just been a couple stray things we've been waiting to finish that actually do not relate directly to testing. Ace Members already know what one of those things was-- and the other I'm just waiting to hear back on a fix for (it is related to the site rather than the game itself) before I can proceed. The actual testing itself has long fallen off. I'm impatient too.

How does one obtain these $R yall are talking about?

  17. it would actually be easier to do so. but that's not our goal right now. it's all coming with us. that is actually why i have to take the forum down-- i'll back up everything here from the moment it's taken down-- and that way nothing gets lost in translation in the meantime not right away-- but eventually! it is certainly in dire need of an update. ---------------------------------------------------------------- because i am preparing to do this soon, i have jacked-the-hecka-up all stock limits on the few items remaining in the site shop please feel free to use whatever $R you have while you can
  18. Among many other things, I am especially thankful for all of you. I may not be as active as in the past but that is in part because I place so much trust, not only in the staff to keep everything together, but all of the members to keep the place moving and take care of each other too. And it means a lot to me to have you all to come home to. <3
  19. Although I am a mental health counselor, let's not overestimate the qualifications of that title. I am not a licensed therapist. And even if I were, there is a handful of reasons that I support finding a local counselor anyway. But I understand that is not always practical-- in terms of finances, life situation, family support (or lack thereof)... so on. That's why we're here. We can have your back. Support can be more valuable than advice. For now, just breathe. Find somewhere safe, and focus only the present moment. Tactile sensations are really good for that. Trace a nail gently along your side, play with your hair or jewelry if you have it, or find something soft to snuggle-- and focus only on that... that kind of thing works well for me at least. It's almost like meditation; just keep your mind on the sensation. If you feel up to it, tell us how you're doing. I think everyone who's posted here and a few more too would like to know. You have a place here.

  22. it is absolutely my pleasure. i would like to say it was my intent to make something that could do that-- but most of this has turned out by happy accident. however things i am working on now for the distant future may resonate even further with those kinds of themes. i hope you will stick around, not only for them, but for a community that i think many people within (including myself) can relate to such issues we've got your back. ^^
  23. Welcome! And thank you so much for your support, and for playing. I think it is very important not to let age dictate the things we enjoy. Games like this are marketed towards children but they are enjoyable by people of all ages. So I think it is important not to limit what we can enjoy -- especially with something that has already been such a huge part of our lives in the past-- based on something arbitrary like how old we are. A certain quote that comes to mind... “When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.” - CS Lewis You're in good company. I hope you choose to stick around and embrace it. Your child self just might be proud of you!
