it's okay i don't actually eat that much, i'll be fine! and the first batch of cookies tastes like monoammonium phosphate anyway. as for the second part, you can't stop me. nobody can stop me. not even i can stop me. As far as that group goes, you're not the only one who felt that way. I know I'm the community owner and blahblahblah but when I was originally added to it, I had no intention of participating and wasn't really even sure if I was going to stay. Don't take that the wrong way, because I thought well of everyone in there, yourself included. But it felt to me that it would be like, having a parent or something at a party. Too much authority. Lamesville. But I think feeling that way is normal for anyone. So naturally, I'm also very glad that you've stuck around and have been able to become more comfortable with us despite that insecurity. Hopefully I've proven that I don't bite. Unless cookies are involved, apparently. and don't worry. i haven't finished reborn either.

yeah i forgot to post animations this weekend... i'm bad. noted for a day on which i dont have anything else and, about that magical transformation before obviously that was just switching graphic sets but it does make some things look a lot better in itself and then there's the train station, arguably worse post-magical transformation. That's not any sort of a finished piece I just thought it was funny. ngl, as i'm mapping through peridot, i'm also thinking about the way this is done, including how adrienn thinks of it. i imagine xem looking at various parts of the ward to figure out what xe wants done with them, and xem getting so exasperated like, 'this house is literally the size of my bathroom, do people really live here?' seven of them 'who planned this city and forgot to leave room for people to breathe?' 'why is this satellite in the middle of the road. what is it even hooked up to?' nothing 'then why is it still here?!' 'why does this block have four dumpsters? what are you guys doing here that you need four dumpsters????' reparations trickled out into west and lodo, as you can see, meaning i'm almost done with peridot. the only parts left to do are the alleys + copying the fixed parts over to be visible from opal (but that's going to be sort of teidous) anyway here's something real

TIL that the obedience system changed in Gen V so that a truant Pokemon doesn't even ever have a chance to attack. If wanted to be evil, I would have put that in, but I am so not about that. Anyway I touched up the disobedience script to fix the error where it was like Pokemon ignored orders Just kidding!!! Incidentally, the existence of that intended effect also changed in Gen V, so I just deleted it. Which happens to be my preferred method of bugfixing anyhow. Added the connection from 7th St to the WTC. Worked more on Peridot, settled on a color scheme, and started cleaning up the map+remapping stuff. Currently done with most of north Peridot but had to stop to sprite this mess: Other screen: also this kind of magical transformation!! amuses me

uh, gens 1-5 are from the main series. the rips are included with Essentials by default. I just tested again to be sure and I don't see a size difference between saving as 32 or 8. That could be a difference in how GG handles saving files though, idk. Excepting massive tilesets, I do try to keep each file to 255 colors or less though for visual consistency, so I could easily switch them if I wanted. I don't want to, because 32 is easier to edit (especially when alphas get involved). Also, recent versions of GG have had an absolutely heartbreaking glitch where certain graphics bug out when saved in 8-bit and get reduced to black and white + visual noise. That was especially frustrating when I was working Mega sprites, saved, and then found it was ruined and had to redo it. Happened multiple times. Nonetheless I'm not really concerned about it because the entire Graphics folder for the game is only 25 MB. The game bulk comes from music, which I have taken to compressing (although most of the room gained from that was eaten up by animation sound effects, so total file size is at 450 MB right now) --- As an after thought, I wonder if the engine would load 8-bit graphics faster though. If the file size doesn't change, then probably not. But hmm... they did, and it wasn't the only time. the others were for different things but similarly stupid stuff like "fence too high" or something dumb, i can't remember the details.

Pixelmon Thread 2: Electric Boogaloo
Amethyst replied to DJ Mewdeon ft Dan Punk's topic in Gaming General
instructions unclear; got head stuck in pikachu -
because of . : x X ~ visual and thematic C O N T R A S T ~ X x : . wooooo!! Because the map of the region was originally drawn on four 8.5x11 sheets of paper taped together. I did that out of convenience since I had no intention of making a game based off of it. So it taller than it was wide, and then was forced into a screen wider than it is tall (DS screen size). The city already has a bunch of street lights and lamps... As mentioned, that's part of what contributes to the lag as is. You mean, like... sidewalks, or...? Recoloured most if not all of the peridot buildings today... and then spent way too much time trying different colour schemes for the ward and I don't like any of it. So maybe I'll warm up to one of them tomorrow or something, idk.

Okay, this thread has gone in all kinds of unnecessary directions so we are actually going to go ahead and put this on lock. That's not to say anything of the league itself; I've spoken with the OP and we're just retiring this particular topic. Expect a cleaner announcement when the project is closer to fruition.

finished opal and started on peridot. no screens yet because frequent interruptions meant i didnt have as much time as i would have liked. i do have plans for both of the factories, but that can come later. tomorrow will be a lot of spritework since i'll have to work out new colour schemes for all of the buildings. tsk, black was so easy...

I like that. That's what I meant by events. NPCs and trainers have to be event tiles. Too many of them causes lag. There's already a bunch in use from teleports in every direction and lighting effects, so my options are limited. That's off the table as a default strategy. This is what Fly distribution currently looks like. Note this does not include anything in the city/apophyll because all of that is being remapped and I can't set up the fly points until the mapping is done. But, that's also why I had to make Fly unavailable for so long. The old and new cities use completely different maps, but the way Fly works it activates a point once you've been to that location. If it activated for the old city and was available back then, then even once the city was restored, using Fly would have taken you to the old city.... AKA back in time. Therefore I made Fly unavailable until the city was rebuilt so that it would only take the player to the new city when used. It wasn't just for the sake of inconvenience. I'm only doing the mapping right now. Eventing will come later.

With that said... in various forms... this wouldn't be the first time we've had two concurrent fanleagues in the community, but running them at the same time definitely not does not tend to work out, so before this gets off the ground please go ahead and pick a schedule that doesn't overlap with Redemption's running times.

did most of opal ward today However, I am running into the expected problem: with all the rocks and cracks cleaned up the city streets look really bare. Sidewalks and sewer stuff were an attempt to alleviate this for when the rebuild came, but it's not enough. For less laggy areas I might just fill up the streets with people and such-- how it should be-- but I've already trimmed a lot of event tiles from the Opal Ward in particular in an attempt to reduce lag. I can't do too much of that here without going over the soft event limit. Might end up adding some smaller park-sections to break up the city expanse... but I'm open to other non-event ideas too.
-
fixed up fly today, structured out the new maps for the city, and copied over metadata + encounters stuff + tileset data for literally everything that needs to be redone so tomorrow i get to actually start mapping the new areas yayyyy My intention is, once I get into the swing of this rebuilding-mapping stuff, to stream some of it. That's not a promise... just the intention. That'll probably be next week if at all though.

Ahoy mates, wenches, and ye whatnot in-between! We've got one o' those double-sided news posts comin' into port now, and given t' subject matter along with the fact that it's been some degree o' time since I last did one o' me silly dialect news posts, you get this in full TechnipirateSpeak. First up in the galley tonight we've got t' risin' incidents o' piracy resurgin' around this here community. And while as a cap'n speakin' like this and all it'd do me no greater pleaaye than t' tip me cap t' ye and say let ye have yer merry treassurin', a line's got t' be drawn in the proverbial sand here. So here we are: Henceforth, publicly askin' for or distributin' illegal files such as ROMs or cracked RPG Maker will be a warnable offense in the forum. Now thar's a couple o' caveats t' this, so listen up, ye bilge rats. First up, linkin' the patches for ROMs be still ago, so if you want t' provide a link t' a fangame that uses a ROM, just link t' patch. Players can find the ROM elsewhere. Secondly, you'll note the key phrase o' 'publicly' thar. We won't be monitorin' what goes on behind closed PMs, so keep your shady business out o' the daylight and you'll be just grand. With that ship sailed, let's move onto somethin' a bit more exhiliratin'. the staff crew recently got t' plannin', and after a hostile ta-- er, after some aggressive negotiatin', the old' hidden Nightclub room's been commandeered with new purpose. T' Nightclub channel on the server be now a voice-only channel for those most esteemed Ace members. Remember, like with the forum Nightclub itself, most rules will be more lax thar (for when you need t' talk about that booty, you know-- pirate booty, I mean), except for respect which be still prime. So keep your trousers tight or you'll be walkin' the plank on out outta the club. That's about it for this week, so feel free t' check out the new room-- those o' ye o' high enough calibur for it anyhow-- stay clean, and keep sailin' steady.

Meant to post this last night. Silver Wind comes from Smeargle! I'll put up the next song later tonight too.

...then you must enter the Dragon's Den. The theme of the lava-ridden draconic chambers has been something seen in canon Pokemon games several times already, but never has it had any pull on the flow of battle before. Highlighting and firelighting the danger of fighting a beast on its home turf and in the heat of battle, the Dragon's Den Field Effect skyrockets the offensive capabilities of its premier type, while covering their historic weakness in its ambient presence. In the end, it's a simple question: can you take the heat? By the way, most people can probably assume where this Field is likely to show up, but interestingly enough, it'll actually be used in two upcoming gyms. Now, why would that be? With prior updates just about done, it's finally time for me to get on with the new content development. Here's hoping I get to the next field soon. Until then, stay cool-- you'll need to.

Nah, I leave all the hard stuff for you. Mine are quick and easy. Well, usually. I feel like I might've already said this somewhere, but I had originally planned a 'jailbreak' gang quest where you and your gang get arrested by the police and you had to bust 'em outta there. I forget why but I eventually decided against that. In any case, this is a cool idea but not something I'm planning on. animations????? Pay Day comes from mde. It's especially crisp with the sound-effect, and I really appreciate it overall. "Coins scattered everywhere!" like no kidding

This is Ame's co-worker typing. I got into the office today and found her writhing on the ground. She keeps twitching and saying "Gen 7" all over. Do you know what this means?? Is this a new street drug? Should I call the police????? To elaborate more seriously on the gen 7 stuff, I will probably leave the bulk of the data work to the users like I did with Gen 6. Then we have some advantages now that we didn't during the Gen 5>6 transition such as that we are much more up-to-date on the whole (remember until E15 there was still a lot of 4th gen content that hadn't been implemented), and the fact that we have a scripting team. Little Lewis doesn't really maintain a presence in the community but he is still with us on implementation (he's polishing up online features right now!!) and could probably take care of any scripting stuff that I can't (and I'm much more comfortable with that than I was when Gen 6 hit too). As for sprites, I'd probably just bite the bullet and kick donation incentives so we could use Smogon's this time because while I (hope I've proven by now that I certainly) can make our own, it's frankly not worth the time especially when they already undertake the project quite well. Big things would be availability + changes in field effects. We'd have to see another x.5 episode and pad out development time and just ugggh. --- At the time of its release, I probably enjoyed Crystal the most. It felt mystical to me, in a few different ways (I had fun figuring out the Unown; rumors about getting to the Orange Islands, etc) To really give you the best answer to a question like this, I figured I should ask the big guy himself. Here's what he said: "..." Well, I think that about says it all! I feel elucidated. Moving on! If so, not deliberately. Although I'll tell you what, we do live across from some kind of crone... She literally called the city on us and had us fined for like a thousand dollars because our grass was too high............. she snuck into her neighbors house and hid chocolate in places so that they would get an ant problem. like?????? Foamy is correct about Cain, he's pan. Tania is probably ace. Heh. There's a few reasons, but the main one I'm not going to say until the game is finished and I do my LP of it, and the other will have to wait until y'all see her gym. But another one I can talk about, is back from the league days. Organizing 17 people to all be on 20 hours a week (when you're not paying them) is hard. Like really hard. My solution to this was the line-host system. Leader access was gated by a line host who kept records, refereed, directed traffic, and so on. Another lesser-known duty of line hosts was to operate as backups if a leader was missing. That included battling and acting as them. But that was how I made sure that even if the actor in question couldn't make it, that the challengers could still get their battles. So, there were a handful of times I had to act for all of them over the months. Titania in particular stood out back then, because she was always by far and away the hardest for me to write for. I think it's because my personality back then was the polar opposite of hers. I usually avoided confrontation like the plague, for instance, whereas she was brutally honest at all times. It took me a little while to get into that mindset, and even then it was still challenging, but once I did I started sort of looking up to her. By now I've learned a lot from her, but, there's always more.

finished the rest of my bugs today... there's still some minor and scripting ones but i dont particularly have to care about those for a while, so we're going to pretend like they dont exist animations this weekend, and then monday i take a jack hammer to fly and get it to behave because from what i understand rn it's all kinds of messy. and apparently already works for some people in game??? that's not supposed to happen but whatevskis. but yeah yeah new field effect yeah yeah music... i made the unsaid executive decision to switch music to biweekly and draw out the time i can post stuff a bit longer. but that still means one goes up this weekend.

And you guys say I'm the evil one. Finished the rest of the event updates today... nothing really notable except the addition of the rest of the Incense items. Also dealt with 42 confirmed bugs. That might sound like a lot, but the list usually sits around ~250 so, it's actually not. The good news is-- could it be?? finally???? i get to actually start making the new episode content now* god bless *well, after the rest of the bugs, but still. ain't concerned 'bout those.

Shoot, they're onto my games. I mean, I do have a still-unused variation of that puzzle that I've been saving... Today I did a few different things, like change the Iolia Crystal Plugs names to be Crystal Keys instead (because apparently the word 'plug' implies different things to the rest of the world than it does to me), and added special original trainer names to event Pokemon where appropriate (corey's, 7th street, snubbull trainer, etc). Also, this was this evening's project:
