That scene was updated for... idk, I guess E15? Quiver Dance > Thunder Wave, paralyzing it > Attacks Laura directly Another round of field updates for this episode. Common themes here are just making fields that use EQ/Magnitude/Bulldoze a bit more consistent, and adding some weather interactions.

"History has a habit of letting little girls wander past the forest's edge, only to be swallowed up by any number of enchantments beyond. She awakens in a tower, Stone, Cold, Alone. A dragon guards her, its fangs bared to the world, brimstone breath faithfully reserved for whatever metal-clad ignoramus thinks himself so mighty that even fire may not char his miserable flesh. But, there is one who can slay the beast..." Another new wallpaper is up! The image may be familiar, but fans of the leader with a temper matched in sharpness only by her blade won't want to miss out here. As always, all common resolutions for PC and mobile are included! Titania's wallpaper/banner art come courtesy of Diana (same cool gal who did Cain's). Next up, details on a new hold item debuting in E16.

We've got two new things today, the first being a new command for the showdown server: You can now use the command /addautojoinchannel (or /adj) to add whatever channel you're currently in to a list of channels that you, as the name might suggest, instantly join whenever you sign on. See also: /removeautojoinchannel or /radj to no longer join the channel you use it in, and /listautojoinchannel or /ladj to see a list of all of your currently subscribed-to channels. Our hope is that this will help back channels be more reliably populated like in the good ol' days, so hit it up and get cozy in each other's rooms. Secondly, a new mod is joining the team, that being the music man we all know and love-- and isn't it about time??-- ! As for that, I think there's only one thing to say, but I'll let Ikaru handle it.

At one point I agreed, which is why things like Gligar and Magby -were- in the early game originally. I removed them in part because people preferred those in expectation of having their evolved forms later, and so wouldn't care about getting other similar things in the interim. Now certainly it could be a too-cold too-hot thing with their placement because they were really early before and are really late now, but the popularity is the main concern either way. I have to have Pokemon in the late game that people might still be interested in picking up. Things like this make good candidates. Of course not, but the popularity is still a consideration. People familiar with the competitive scene (around which this game was originally based, although it has expanded far beyond by now admittedly) are going to prefer Pokemon they know are useful. I'm certainly not afraid of Mandibuzz shutting out slews of gym leaders, but again, I need Pokemon for later areas, so it makes sense to put popular/strong (in some circumstances, at least) things later in the game. And then like, what??? Inkay is already in the wasteland. Not only that, but a lot of the Pokemon you mentioned are already in the early game-- Elekid, Vullaby, Frillish, for instance-- in the form of the mystery egg. The entire existence of the mystery egg is exactly because I'm not concerned about so much about Pokemon sweeping through leaders-- I mean, come on, you can get Volcarona from that damn thing-- but that I don't want those options appealing to players so much that they always get them or don't consider other things as they go. (And sure, if you get Volcarona you're probably not going to care too much about any other fire type for the rest of the playthrough-- but at least, that's not likely to be the case in the future playthroughs, which itself creates variance and more replayability) That all said, I'm really not looking to make this topic into 'The Axe' v2. I'm pretty happy with the distribution of Pokemon early game for now.

Not the usual answer, but I'm quite a fan of this as an alternative.

I had a passing thought the other day about a couple games that could work well in channel environments if a reasonable way to keep score can be established. One is Never Have I Ever. We probably all know what this is. Handling everyone's points could be a challenge here. The other would be creating an adaptation based off of a party game called Curses. In the original game players take turns answering a prompt that asks a question, or tells them to describe what they'd do under certain circumstances ("You're a doctor telling a patient they're terminally ill..."). After completing their prompt, the player then chooses another player to give a Curse Card to, and play continues on with the next person's turn. The Curse cards are the crux of it. Each one has a requirement-- or 'curse' that the player has to act under from then on. The IRL game has curses like 'you must now always play air guitar while you talk'. Online curses could involve typing quirks, or other verifiable things you can think of. If a player fails to abide by their curse (or if they have two incompatible curses (for instance, they have to play air guitar, but they also cant move their arms down) then the curse they dont follow is dropped. They're free from it, but they also take a Point. Once a player hits three points, they are out, and lose the game. One pitfall is we'd need to find a way to make sure curses aren't made to be incompatible in order to guarantee a player takes a point. This might involve creating a list of pre-established online-able curses and using an RNG to select one. There might be some other pitfalls too, but it's an idea for exploration.

I'll post the wallpapers once I've got them -all- finished Not bad. I still feel some pain from time-to-time but it's usually not enough to stop me from doing things. Can't say that we are past 30 though, I've more or less kept up with that much when I hit progress milestones.

Probably because I play stall tbh :/ But I don't think either of those are bad Pokemon (there are certainly others on the list I consider to be worse luck, which is okay). However, some Pokemon have been held off for availability just so there's new species in the wild in future areas when exploring. Pokemon that tend to be higher tier lists got shoved to the back (Jellicent's fairly low now, but availability was planned during gen 5 when it was OU) Another consideration is Pokemon within their own types. Electivire is pretty much one of the best (or at least, most popular) Electric types in the game. I don't want to make it particularly early, and then have it shove out other options, for example. Yeah, don't take that thread as anything meaningful. I was just writing descriptions for parts of the map for fun when I drew it. I wasn't planning on actually making the game at the time. It's mainly because of the animations that it's -not-. I spent a solid two months (maybe more? idk) on just those, and while the team is doing well now, it still takes time for me to review things. There certainly have been set-backs, but honestly, none of those things are the major factor. It's really just that there's so much to do. My to-do list for this episode of the game is currently 550+ lines long. Some of those are quick, some take a few days... others weeks. And a lot of that is not even making new content so much as fixing/polishing existing things or making changes that ought to have been done a long time ago (animations, AI, windows/walls, etc). Anyway, speaking of those, I'm bad at progress updates. By now all of the field graphics have been created (remember that one I said was H E L L O N A S T I C K to do? I ended up redoing it. Five times), I'm done with all the windowskins, and I've gotten through a solid chunk of the wallpapers. Here's a few of the window themes:

suppose I should do this before your midnight huh. i've been putting it off because i don't know what to say because nothing i can say can possibly express to you how grateful i am to have you here and in my life and i think you know why getting older isn't someting that i'm afraid of anymore, so i'd encourage you to take similar strides. either way, i'll be there with you. i'll just leave it at that. make ikaru feel awkward about being the biggest wish post here. <33333333 edit: i forgot to actually say happy birthday here LOL whatever, i already told you

What's your favorite breathtaking or "Wow" moment in a video game?
Amethyst replied to Grizzlybrand's topic in Gaming General
Kamui in Okami. I loved everything about that area, from the visuals to the tone it set up and the final dungeon was just, so amazing to me at the time (partly maybe because it was an escape from what I was dealing with at the time, but... details..). I only lamented that the boss of that area was as easy as it was. Even so, it was more than a lasting impression for me.- 22 replies

O citizenry of Reborn, ye need live in fear no longer. Following the community's decision to remove the /kick command for the sake of consistency with our rules, we also turned our attention to the selection of Site Shop Items that enabled users to futz with others profiles by changing their name, avatar, or collectively their entire profile into to make them into oh, I don't know, Grimace from McDonalds. ...But I mean, who would do such a thing, really? Shame... In any case, for the sake of remaining consistency with our own rule, which outright says "Fun at the expense of others isn't fun", we've decided that those items probably don't need to stick around. They can be especially annoying for newer users who become unfortunate victims of them too, and don't necessarily have the $R to change their profile back. The entire 'Mess with Others!' section has since been removed from the Site Shop, including the Steal $R item. While it might be a little less fun for some of the rich users, the change is worth accommodating everyone. Previously purchased/held items from that section may or may not work. Apologies for the inconvenience, Additionally, other item prices and posting rates have been tweaked to account for the flux in the economy.

Communication is The Key to a Healthy Relationship
Amethyst replied to AuthorReborn's topic in General Discussion
Trust and respect are major players too, but agreed that communication is paramount. As an example of communication failure, there was a girl I liked for a couple years and we became really, really close friends. However, some time last year I decided that it probably wasn't going to go anywhere, and so I forced myself to get over and take space from her. She was a lot more upset than I thought she would be, but I figured that was just because I was her best friend. Fast forward to this year, and I found out that the entire time last year, she thought that we were actually a couple. I would've loved that, but I had no idea, and in taking spacing apparently broke up with her, also having no idea. I managed to go through an entire relationship not even knowing I was in one, because of lack of communication. God bless. -
With the references to other games, they would definitely be limited to windowskins. The idea is they should be subtle enough that you wouldn't think twice about it unless you'd played those games. I'm also not looking to get too detailed, but something like the minimalist art posted above shouldn't be a problem.

That's why we say "full-screen-ish." Unfortunately, we can't change this because it's part of RMXP, not the game code.

It wasn't really cheating per se.... But when I was younger I spilled ketchup on the end of my link cable, so it glitched out all the time, and one time I traded my friend something normal, and it glitched out and came through on his side as a Mew. ...Yay ketchup?

There's a lot to keep up with, you're right. And you know, there's a decent chance that not every character arc will be fully explored in the main story. The ones you mentioned though, all have a good bit left for them though. And in any case, post game is a thing.
