Ohayo! Observant forum visitors will notice the sparkly new Anime forum sub- to The Radio Tower. We decided to try this out on a similar trial as the Athletics/Creative Writing forums were in. For those who weren't around for that, it's basically a use-it-or-lose-it situation. So if you're an ani-maniac-- er, wait, that's something else-- then get to business! (That probably also means moving out of the general anime thread, should y'all choose) Note that per the subforum name this forum also applies to Western Animation and Manga. 楽しんでください!

her? c'mon now. Anyway since the concept's been introduced at this point I didn't mind trimming it down, which happened with the previous dialogue sweep. http://prntscr.com/82mclm I don't think it was a surge so much as just a fairly average site back then. Our rules weren't so clean or well-enforced (in part because myself and my girlfriend at the time were the sole staff for a while), and I also was not quite as informed as I should have been. Like all things, it's improved over time, and will continue to do so. And I've been working with RPG Maker for 12 years now, though I had been using other programs for a few years before that as well. ...Not very well, of course, since I was like 8, but, whatevs.

I hope none of you take my lack of response to this point as distance a lack of appreciation , because it's so incredibly humbling to read everyone's support and words of encouragement, that I'm left positively speechless. Well, that's not quite accurate-- the only thing I can do is say what I did in the first place: Thank you. I'll continue to work hard for everyone's sake as well.
-
Afraid not, since that's not in the code. Also, it's not something the main series has done to my knowledge. Red = Up and Blue = Down has been the common thread for animations in the franchise. P-much the blue-reverse of the stat-up. The sounds we have for these two effects are from 5th gen, so I based the animations off of that. Got through all the statuses tonight, but they're all fairly simple, of course. Next up is shiny, mega evolution, and weather.
-
Clear it up? That's no fun.
-
So these animations... are gonna a take a while. I don't expect to be finished with the E16 batch within the month. I'll try to post gifs semi-frequently though so it doesn't seem like a dry spell of development. Remember in terms of animation capability we're about on par with 3rd gen since 4th gen and on uses a lot of alpha-fading (which isn't consistent with our existing graphical style) and particle effects (which we don't have a generator for). Here's the redone stat-up animation. Gif quality is a consideration, but thanks to whoever recommended Gyazo.

Deep breath, Ame. Deep breath... Let me start this way: Who's she hurting? There's about four potential answers I see that have been brought up in this topic: She could be hurting herself. She could be hurting her viewers. She could be hurting other women. She could be hurting you as the single viewer. Now I'm going to tell you why all of those are incorrect. * She could be hurting herself: So, these comments go back to the idea, be it explicitly or implicitly that there's something wrong with a girl exposing herself, or acting in a sexual manner. This is called slut-shaming. Before anything, I'd like to say that regardless of your personal views on the matter, slut-shaming not acceptable in this community, as a matter of respect. I'll go ahead and pre-emptively answer the question of why that's disrespectful. Let's look at it in a basic frame. Girls who have sex with lots of different people are commonly called sluts and punished for this behavior. Boys who have sex with lots of different people are generally rewarded for the same behavior. See the difference? This is called the sexual double-standard. It's also called sexism. Now regardless of your personal feelings on promiscuity gender-not-considered, what we're addressing here is that sexist element. Let's assume the posted streamer is indeed making the choice to flaunt her appearance as a, or the main feature of her channel. How is that something not to be proud of? If she is comfortable with the way her viewers interact with her, and she is confident enough to display her body like this, what's the problem? If it was hurting her, she'd have stopped. This is her choice, after all. The argument that she's a whore for featuring her body, or that doing that is something to be a shamed of stems directly from the sexual double-standard. It's a popular, culturally reinforced notion that girls are supposed to be modest and boys are supposed to be sexual. This girl is not displaying modesty in line with that dated value system, so she receives scorn. Given the sexist foundation of that value system, what's hurting her is not her choices, but how people choose to berate her for it with comments like the above, and people who try to take that choice away by insinuating that it's harmful. The fault lies with the speakers of those comments, not her. In short, she is not hurting herself, but those who lash out at her might be hurting her instead. Hence why it's not allowed here. * She could be hurting her viewers: The implication here is that her viewers are being 'tricked' or are 'stupid' for supporting this person. First, let's not insult nearly 100,000 people's intelligence. I haven't watched this person myself so I don't know how she behaves but based on the context provided by others I am going to presume her manner of "tricking people" does not involve covert manipulation and instead is a rather overt tactic that highlights her body. In that case, I think we can hardly call it "tricking" anyone. There's no trick. Everything's right there on the screen... I mean it's half the damn screen as some others have pointed out. Where's the deception? The people who support her know what she's about. Maybe she's more about boobs than games-- whatever. Her supporters are probably fine with that, otherwise they wouldn't still be following/donating to her. Why pity them for not getting a real cam girl? I'm sure they know they could if they wanted, but they're interested in this girl. Maybe this streamer displays just the right boob-to-game ratio that they're looking for (man, that's not a sentence I'd ever expected to type...). The problem with these comments now is that you are not only rather rudely insulting the intelligence of a significant volume of people, but you are now also implying that somehow this "bad decision" is her fault, as if she somehow robbed these poor followers of their willpower using the magic mind-control spell placed on them by her chest. The viewers are real people who have the ability and the right to make their own decisions. If you're belittling that and calling them stupid, once again, the fault lies with you. * She could be hurting other women So, once again, we're all intelligent people here. So I don't think that there's anyone among us who honestly believes that any single female, or even a group of females, can possibly adequately represent the entire breadth, or even a majority, of females in total. Let's just make that clear now. Unless you've got a background in sociology and a reputable sample size with a properly analyzed statistically significant margin of difference (or rather sameness) between members of the female gender, there's really no reason any of us need to assume that 'all girls' (or even a majority) are a certain way. Apply that same logic to specifically female streamers, and it's not going to change all that much aside from the obvious. So where is this idea coming from, that by acting this way she's hurting other women? We all know that the tendencies of one individual does not account for the actions of a group. Therefore, no single woman is obligated to act a certain way just because of how it might reflect on the gender as a whole. Media sells ideas of gender-essentialism because it can profit off of them, and we grow up with them until we learn better. As a kid you might have learned that boys have short hair and girls have long hair, or at least you thought so until the first time you saw a long haired boy and were told that he was not, in fact, a girl. The title of this topic is indicative of a failure to un-learn essentialist notions. Time to grow up. Moreover as intelligent (young) adults we do not benefit ourselves by assuming that others have not unlearned these things. To act as such is again an insult to others' intelligence. So understanding that no individual bears the responsibility of acting as a representative for their gender, let us not assume that others will treat them as if they will. Those who have yet to learn that people are individuals are the ones who need to change-- not the individuals. Finally, * She could be hurting you, as a viewer Here is a solution to this problem: Stop watching her stream, and move onto something you like. Here is something that is not a solution to this problem: Posting a topic disrespecting the streamer and in the process skirt insulting an entire gender. You are entitled to your opinions and reactions. You are not entitled to be an asshole. You're also not excused by backpedaling with a comment like this, Because when this Is your opening post, it's clear that Twitch's ToS are not your priority, and your dislike of the streamer in question, is. Childishly attempting to redirect the conversation for the sake of your ego, so as that you don't appear to have been offensive, is a pointless move in a topic that is blatantly based in insulting another person. Please consider this in the future.

Because as it was said, only a few lower-tier megas will be available. Am I gonna let y'all run through the E4 with ya Megagross and M-Blazikens? nahh. But I'm not opposed to opening megas up to make Pokemon like Banette and Audino more attractive options in-game. Actually! Terrain moves can't be used on top of other terrain moves and temporary fields (eg Rainbow), but if we assume it works the same was as Corey's Mist, even though it's Misty Terrain, it's not a temporary effect. So Electric Terrain could still be used over it. If you wanted to test that theory, just try using Electric Terrain in the Coral Ward. It should work. If not, let me know, because that's a problem.. So since I replaced all the sound files that also means the calls to previously existing move sound effects by story events, are now invalid. Unfortunately my memory sucks, and I've only found a few, so I'll ask you all: What instances of move-sound effects do you recall being used in the story or sidequests? Examples of this include Sigmund being Hyper Beamed, and the Poison Fang attack sounds following that-- basically whenever a Pokemon uses a move on the overworld. I've already fixed: The above two mentioned + Sigmund vs Laura sounds Poison Fang/Walrein/Excadrill stuff at Fiore Deliverance's Waterfall/Ice Beam in Peridot, Ice Beam/Superpower inside the Factory Caged Pokemon Puzzle Pyrous Mountaintop Blast Burn/Dragon Rush/Hi Jump Kick Attacks to free Heather G-Gardevoir's Hypnosis Can anyone think of what I'm forgetting? I'm sure there's plenty more.

Pausing from animations for a quick percent jump, since I implemented this episode's round of field changes. These haven't been particularly well-publicized in the past aside from being in the readme, so I might as well post it here. While this is currently all I intend to do to the fields for the next episode, it's by no means binding. In other words, if I find something else that needs to be changed there's plenty of time for it to make it in. Also I've gone back on my prior order of only five new fields coming with this episode. Following a certain discussion on the server, I'll also be adding an Inverse Field for the sake of having it. It will not be used in the story though.

We won't be doing custom megas. You can probably count on most forth-coming leaders having Megas. In the frequent cases where it doesn't happen to be their ace, I'll still be trying (and inevitably failing) to make the ace the prime threat via other balance levers. I'm not opposed to this because even many of the existing leaders in-game are designed with an "offhand ace" in mind (Breloom, Skuntank, Yanmega, Gengar, etc) and which is more difficult between the two frequently comes down to the player's team anyway.

All done! Thanks to those who contributed! I ended up not going through with the plan I most recently outlined because in various processes I ended up sorting the rest myself. Oops. Nonetheless everyone who got it started was a huge help!

Cool. So, I've got sounds for everything. To reiterate, that includes the animations that I won't be updating with this episode, so I basically just took a significant bite out of future development time. I chose to do that because I was already in the groove as far as sound editing, and knew what all of my files were for/sounded like. In three months I would have forgotten that, and would have had to waste time re-familiarizing myself with them to gather up new sounds. So next up will be making the visuals. I think what I'll do is try and gif a few of them as we go along so there's at least some kind of visible progress here. It'll probably take me a while to get through all of those though. The remaining 60% in animations is still a solid ~230 animations to remake. Does anyone know a good gif-capture program? Also to restate this: Although I'm spending all this time on animations right now, there aren't going to be any more animations in E16 than there are in E15. I'm remaking all of the existing ones for quality control. Some won't change noticeably. Some might appear less fancy for the sake of using a consistent graphical style. Most will probably look better. But don't expect there to be -more- animations until E17/18.

To all the applicants, I very much appreciate your interest and dedication to the project, and I hope that you will remain available should we need additional help in the future. To those selected, thank you very much for lending us your time and energy. I have high hopes for all of you that it will certainly show in the final the product. Please let me know if I can be of service to you; I'll do my best to assist as I'm able.

did you know that there are 172 normal types moves that is a lot of normal type moves and it took me for damn ever just to do those alone this animation process is slow and gritty rip (it has not been helped by the fact that the trial on my sound editing program expired mid-process and has been no small order to replace >~< )

So, today is my 23rd birthday. Now, hold the "Happy Birthday"s, because that isn't what this thread is for. When I was younger, I never used to like celebrating my birthday. Nobody came to my parties anyway (because I didn't invite them, go figure) so why bother? By middle school I was done with parties. By high school I wouldn't even let my family do anything for me. All of the arbitrary wishes of the day were just needles in my side. Stop wasting time on a pointless formality. There's seven billion goddamn birthdays around the world every single year. Why should mine warrant your attention? I thought, it's just another year. It just means I'm getting older, and closer to either death or incompetence. I decided, I didn't want to get old, So I should kill myself on my thirtieth birthday. But my mother would hassle me to do something, anything for the day. I took to leaving the house on that day just for the sake of avoiding her. Sometimes I would meet with a friend, sometimes I wouldn't. If I did, I made sure it was someone who didn't know the occasion. Eventually I started hiding the date. I would change it to the wrong day on any profile, and then change it two weeks earlier one week before that date ever came. Anytime someone asked me, I made up a day. Sometimes plainly false, sometimes not. In retrospect, I was probably just trying to forget myself. I am pretty good at forgetting, but not the things I'd like to. More recently, I heard something that changed my entire perspective on the matter. It was a statistic. The average life expectancy of a trans-girl is only 23 years. Now, I don't know if that's true or not. My meager efforts to find source, validation, or refutation, have produced nothing to speak of (probably because whatever statistical community is responsible for that still doesn't give a shit about trans people). But nonetheless this stuck with me, a trans-girl in her early twenties. Now, this should not be taken as a coming-out post, because it's not been a secret around here that I'm transgender. I'm sure newer members might not have known, and even some of the people closest to me say they forget. Believe me, I know all about forgetting. But not this. This was something that for the past year or two or since whenever I heard it, I've thought about every single day. In a year, in a month, next week... As of today, I'm more likely to be dead than alive. The curious among you might be asking why? Why would any group's average lifespan be nearly fifty years lower than the general population's? Fortunately, I can tell you that much with certainty. I know all too well, why. Because we are hunted. Most people consider themselves above killing another human, but some people consider us less than human. If a girl doesn't pass, she can be targeted. And even if she does pass, she's not safe. 1 out of every 6 women in the US has been raped. Looking at college-aged girls, that number increases to 1 out of 4. Of course if a pretty pre-op trans-girl gets taken somewhere and her offender inevitably finds out that she's trans, then she'll just be killed instead. Whether cis or trans girls have the better end in that scenario, is still undetermined. But I've attended the Day of Rememberance, and I've watched the multiple-hour presentation listing the names of all of the trans murder victims in just the past few years-- the vast majority of whom go entirely unremembered despite the efforts of the event. Because the police are not on our side. Some officers are good people. Enough are not, that we already have a public outcry against the unpunished slaughter of black people around the country. Most people at least have the decency to pretend like they don't hate other races, even if their effort only goes so far as to take the form of an "I'm not racist but..." comment. That's more than I can say for their regard of trans people. So if they're already willing to shoot to kill one population, what's another one even further underfoot? And if you're a trans PoC... God help you. Because the doctors are not on our side. Conversion therapy is still widely used, which will contribute to the final point. And there are multiple stories of transwomen who've been in accidents, or suffered attacks, who needed emergency treatment, only be laughed at by the operating crew when it was discovered they were trans, and eventually let to die. And even if they are on our side, because the best medicine we can possibly be prescribed for transitioning is not even actually for transitioning. Our medicine is 'off-label' meaning it's originally intended for other uses, and just happens to work and be used for us. That, of course, doesn't come without side effects. I may never have had a drink in my life, but my liver sure doesn't know it. Because the employers are not on our side. Many transgender people are laid off for coming out in the course of an existing employment. Many states do not have laws protecting individuals from firing based on gender identity. Many trans people are unable to find employment, especially if they haven't ducked through the legal hoops involved with their identity yet. And so that leads to, Homelessness, one of the largest problems among LGBT youth as a whole. Even many homosexual individuals struggle and sometimes die as a result of homelessness/unemployment. That statistic only compunds with transgender people. And finally, because WE are often not on our side. Suicide is the number one killer for many transgender people, especially before they are able to fully transition. Though many of you didn't know her, we've already had one trans-girl from this very community take her own life. It was a person I looked up to, who helped me get started when I needed to make a change, and who I regret I was not able to help enough in return. You can even find her-- or at least, the character she submitted a long time ago-- in Pokemon Reborn. "Tehehehe, do you think you're ready to best us?" I, too, am no stranger to suicide. It only took me eight years of this life to figure out that I didn't want to be here. I'm lucky that third-grade me didn't figure out certain other things, like the fact that no matter how hard you try, it's impossible to die by strangling yourself. And I'm lucky that by the time I realized that a run-of-the-mill kitchen knife was a better way to go about it, I had my best friend around me to pull the knife away and bawl himself into some snotty mess that made me realize that not everyone wanted me to die quite as much as I did. And so I didn't die. But for a long time, I didn't live either. I finally began to live some time after I came out. But more importantly, it was after I heard that statistic, that I really began to live with purpose. I am lucky that I have something I can wake up to, and remember, this is what I need to do. I have to break that statistic. Not just for myself. For all of my sisters, too. For all of the girls who feel like they shouldn't be themselves. And boys, or anyone else the same. Cis, trans, something else entirely-- Nobody should ever have to be scared of who they are. That's a large part of why I work so hard on my games. Video games may be just that, but they're also huge parts of our lives-- the fact that any of us are in a place like this proves it. And how many of us grew up with games like Pokemon that ended up not just influencing but sometimes outright defining our values? Art reflects life reflects art. One can be changed by influencing the other. It may just be a small piece in a much larger and gradual movement, but it's something that I have to do. And I've made it this far, which is more than many others can say. I don't know how long I have before my Star does go out. So I'll work as hard as I can until then in hopes that it makes a difference. But it doesn't happen alone. That's why I wanted to make this topic. I've been so lucky, for so many reasons, but most of all to have been able to meet and be supported so many wonderful people like all of you. So, this is for you. Thank you, truly, and so much, for standing with me. I hope that you'll continue to stay with me for a long time, because all of this, is not even the beginning yet. ~ Ame

I usually run balanced teams but my playstyle always leans towards stall, because I don't like to take unnecessary risks. My favorite set-up is something 3-4 walls, some utility, and clean-up hitter. With an Encore somewhere in there. Encore is my favorite move by a long-shot. And Hilda loves battling me. <3

Favourite/ Least Favourite Gym leader from each gen (plus reborn)
Amethyst replied to mde2001's topic in Pokémon Fan Club
Kanto: + Sabrina, - Lt. Surge Johto: + Jasmine, - Chuck Hoenn: + Wallace (if 3rd gen, else Flannery), - Brawly Sinnoh: + Candice, - Crasher Wake Unova: + Iris, - Cilan, Chili, Cress Kalos: + Valerie, - Wulfric Reborn: + Titania, - Terra basically i like everything hilda hates, what else is new -
This. I can't account for if the player speed-runs everything post-Agate, or if they spend time grinding up a full new rotation because they can't beat Charlotte.

This is really more of a pre-announcement post, preparing people for a programmer production process that'll be popping up in a post put up by the person in the proper programming production position on the pokemon project, post-announcement. To put it more professionally Kurotsune will taking on a new role as scripting development head and will be training and organizing a team of volunteers from the forum to help out with AI and bug fixes in Reborn. Xe'll be making a follow-up post with the details to this. I'd certainly encourage anyone interested in learning Ruby scripting, be it for personal interest or for their own fan-game project, to look into the offer. Stay tuned! Also Kuro would like it to be known that xe is off shift and heading home now. Or would have been if I hadn't fallen asleep four different times trying to write this post.

Not happening. The timeline is necessarily vague because of differences in in-game choices and interpretations of how game events translate into real time. In a more linear/story-based game it would be fine, but not this one.

If Gen 7 comes out before the game is completed, I'll be in for the long haul. If not, adding that content might end up being a community project/mod

Pretty much exactly what I do here/in Reborn/Starlight... only hopefully in such a way that I can actually support myself >~<

I did the new one. It's fairly simple/short, similar to the last though not quite -that- short and doesn't feature the broken-record effect... which admittedly I liked a lot so I might do something about that soon.

The old one was cut from a copyright song when I was just doing whatever with the game because I didn't expect it to leave the community. The new one is something I tossed up quickly to give the same sort of feel without creating ownership issues.

picking and choosing She's more whimsical than edgy. She likes to live out fantasies a lot. Sometimes that's being a princess. Sometimes that's being a maid. Sometimes that's being the queen of infinite potential. Pokemon only lose the will to fight after their HP reaching 0. They can still use HMs, so they must still be conscious. Gardevoir probably just gets #done at that point. Solely Luna. She liked the idea of both of them being her parents, so she adopted herself for them. Radomus first, and then she probably decided she needed a mom too. The scene was touched up so Lilligant gets paralyzed when it sets up. Electivire moves while it's incapacitated. Nobody has lived the experience to confirm or deny. Victoria dropped. Cain still hasn't been able to battle Radomus or Luna. Fern 's been better focused and has fought all of the post-Agate area leaders so far plus Amy and minus Charlotte, so that makes him about even. I might be forgetting something in saying that. Don't hold me to it, I'm going through this quickly. The order of leaders vaguely follows a rule from our server league where you can fight any of the next 4 leaders based on your lowest missing badge. So say you've only beaten Julia: You could technically fight Florinia, Corey, Shelly or Shade. You can't fight Kiki until you've beaten Flornia though. They'd only need the purple crystal plug. There might be more than one. Being a silent protagonist means you never have to worry about saying the wrong thing. Team Meteor's main type is Rock, although they do use it more sparingly than other Teams use their main types. Solrock/Lunatone are the main partner Rock types, so they get used a lot, yes. 4/16 known Meteor Duos have it. It probably seems more prevalent because of Aster/Eclipse. He'd be something akin to a contracted third party. He's not officially a rank within the team. Do Fern and Blake like anyone? With difficulty. Presumably other trainers have ways of making their Pokemon respect them. Those other ways aren't represented in the game mechanics because you're a heartless, silent protagonist. Shame on you. You know that post-Trick or Treating feeling when you've got the mountain of candy and you're on your 23rd piece and you really know that you should just stop but there's all of this delicious candy staring you down in the face and there's no way you can say no to it because what else are you even going to do with it anyway and isn't this the one night of the year you're allowed to gorge yourself? It feels like that, and the ensuing stomach ache. The waste covers the surface. The ground's still down there.
