*screaming in the background* *screaming in the foreground* actually i have mixed feelings about that but my ocd side will be glad to feel comfortable using something besides iron/bronze weapons for once but actually im way too hyped for this, fuck 2016

cut scene animations are great, but they, well, need to be animated. to do so at an acceptable level of quality and consistency would take much longer than i think anyone here is willing to wait for a new episode. spoilers :] Believe me, if I could do Triple and Rotation battles, they'd be seeing a lot of use. Unfortunately, nothing about Essentials even remotely supports that currently, so it had to be let go. Correct, and that's exactly the problem. In game text, I can reference the player's name, but trainers' Pokemon is pulled from a pre-set data-file. It can't even remotely think about the player name, much less detect it.

In a case like this, isn't Hyper Voice actually the better move? EQ = 100 * 2 SE / 2 burn = 100 BP total Hyper Voice = (90 * 1.3 pixil * 1.5 stab * 1.5 field)/ 2 NVE = 120 BP total Now, that's admittedly not counting the Field Bonus on EQ, but that's random, so it's tough to rely on that for AI anyway. This is what I'm struggling with. That said I also have to remember people on this forum are over-prepared compared to the average player. Nonetheless, there's room for improvement here. I held back on some things, such as the Dragon Dance set posted. I did want to give Hyper Voice some love though since we already had a dance sweeper, so I tried to make it work. The thing is, it seems like it has. M-Altaria already seems to do most of the work on the team; it's the other stuff that falls through. Like I wanted to save Sing for Altaria, for sure, and Chatot is Taka's territory. Crobat was considered, but Ciel's struggling a lot with steel/rock types so I wanted Archeops's EQ. Like was mentioned, Aero doesn't get Acrobatics, so Archeops has to be the one to abuse the field. (did i really give aero acro though? awkward...). Currently I'm looking at a base damage increase for Acrobatics in that field for E16, and if I can figure out something to do with Fly that -isn't- just base damage but also isn't totally broken that would open some other options too.

That said, how many people are trial-and-erroring this as opposed to actually taking guesses? And, how obvious or not is the third rooms' one?

Abra/Arceus spamming Dark Pulse was an AI problem that was resolved with 15 (the AI used to really, really, reaaallly like flinches....). If it still refuses to use Hyper Beam against neutral targets in the new release, I want to hear about it.

It is, going forward. Probably for Starlight as well if it's distributed similarly. There's a lot of gravity in what another user said about you developing as a player too, even if you don't notice it. I've found this to be very true over the time of watching people play. You eventually acclimate to the game from the main series. Knowing what to expect in itself makes it a lot easier. Now that's not to say the AI is great. It's not. E14 AI is dismal. Changes as of 14.7 make singles AI passable. Doubles AI is a disaster still. We're looking at that for E16, and then in E17/18 we'll be adding code to make it actually advanced. In E19 we should be able to add field-specific AI too. It's a work in progress. But, it isn't being set to half. Almost every gym leader has their AI set to maximum. The code itself is just incomplete from Essentials. Regardless, I think we can all agree that it isn't like average Pokemon games. Leaders in the main series are jokes. Two pokemon and they're done? Nawh. Now, almost no reasonable fight is going to be unbeatable. The problem is we don't want to pigeon-hole players into a single strategy to beat each fight. Examples of this are the original Charlotte and Serra, where you either bring Rain Dance, bring Drought or Magmar, or you don't have a chance. That's not fun, it's frustrating, especially in effectively forcing players to use those Pokemon. While Reborn is supposed to be harder than the main series, it's not meant to be a nightmare mode. My goal with gyms is not for it to be impossibly difficult, but to make you, as a player, stop and think about how you're going to overcome it. If you want Nightmare-Mode Reborn, the game will be open to modding after it's completed.

oh yeah forgot to mention i added that in public good job guys!!

Geese life! Btw, Episode 17 will be out in 17 years.
-
You know, all this time I've been hiding the fact that I'm actually a character played by a pair of highly-intelligent geese.

Yes, this should fix most of them. At least everything that I saw reported and was able to reproduce, anyway. This includes the Jasper Water Grid (though not retroactively) cutscenes misplaying when re-entering Fiore, another pass at berry-related crashes in Aventurine, mistakenly boosted EXP, a few other scripty things, etc.

Six months and several releases later, we're finally here with E15, now patched up and ready for the general This has been out for around a week now to the forum, which has given us just enough time to clean it up and ensure that the release is fairly stable. Forum members, do remember that a spoiler-lock is in effect until July. So please tag your spoilers, keep them in appropriate places, and be careful with your topic titles! First, there are some things to be aware of, particularly if you did not play the 14.5 release: Please avoid saving outdoors in the following areas before updating: Reborn City Chrysolia Forest Spinel Town Route 2 Consider visiting a Pokemon Center in the new update -before- using Teleport/Dig etc. As a final note, the item PC was removed due to its relative uselessness, so please recover any stored items there before updating. The download page will be linked below this change-list. Enjoy! Game Downloads

AP Varus is barely viable. An AD Varus mid might do okay against a Kog mid, but not against most other mid laners. I can't imagine AD Kog mid being good against anyone except maybe like Chogath. AP Kog mid is fairly underrated and excels in poke comps, however the laning phase is very rough until Kog hits level 6 and has the mana to sustain regular ults.

As the developer, I might be a little biased, but I do recommend playing in E15. You may not be able to get some axed Pokemon, but you do get access to stuff like the mystery egg, increased early diversity over all, and as of E15 many events come with egg moves which can make otherwise average Pokemon quite usable. Not very well. After Episode 1, save files were changed, so E1 save files weren't compatible with anything else. Episode 2 though, eh, it would be fine as long as you don't have anything from 6th gen, be that moves, or Pokemon, or items that didn't exist yet.

I mean, I'll be the first person to admit that I do have some latent bias against males. It's something I'm working on, and I certainly have no intention for that to manifest in my games especially in a way that reflects poorly on men as a whole. But, acknowledging that I do hold that bias, I can't 100% guarantee it doesn't play some part. However, in defense of that regarding the original topic, one also has to consider the conditions in which this game was made. None of these characters were written to be game characters. Sigmund, Corey and Elias were all gym leaders from our league who were antagonized by other leaders, Saphira, Heather and Luna. We had our share of drama, and since this game was created as a reflection of the events of the online league, that naturally had to be included. Now, when formatting those events into a game, there was the question of who's side should we take? Maybe we could have sided with Sigmund, for instance, and portrayed Heather's as actually just crazy and so we needed to wrangle her in. But, in order for that to be an effective plot point in the game, the player has to sympathize with the good Doctor. However, I already knew from the online league that Dr. Connal was not very effective at winning sympathy. Neither were any of those men. Thus, it felt most effective to make them antagonists for the game story. Sirius and Solaris were characters provided to me by Will; I asked him for a few Meteor admins, and worked with whatever he gave me. I can't speak much to his choices for them. Regarding NPCs, I am quite interested in that. There are a lot of segments where, I acknowledge, we are not as gender-equal as we should be. For instance, the entire cast of cultists, orderlies and researches, are all male. That's not especially effective. However, I am less concerned about the people in 7th street being primarily male. This is mainly because I do not believe many girls would be entirely comfortable venturing down to a den of debauchery like that. And there are a few: Craudburry flaunts her money in defense, the Oddishweed lady is facing the danger for the sake of her husband, a doxy here and there, a couple punks, one of whom is implied to be under the protection of her boyfriend, and one who's just too far gone on level-ups to give a fuck... so on. These are the kinds of girls I imagine would feel okay going down to that place. I did not see a female Pokemon dealer doing a good business-- not because she would be incapable, but because if their urban society is anything like ours, and it is implied to be, all it would take is one of the gangs deciding she's an easy target, to raid her shop and put her out of business. You'll notice the Pokemon Dealer has one of the beefier male sprites. He doesn't seem, to me, like the type of guy a group of rogues would target. If you disagree with that thinking, I'm interested to hear why.

Pretty sure this is already the case, is it not? At least in 15?

Great, so it sounds like this is much better over all, except for topic titles. Making a separate board wouldn't change that though since the newest topics can still appear in the feeds at the top right on the forum/site. But it's something that's easy for someone not to think about -- I can make an effort to call attention to that going forward. In order to handle bug topics, tbh we should just have a catch-all bug reporting thread for stuff besides typos/tile errors. Then the speculation threads are few enough to handle, especially if we remind people to be mindful of these things. Thanks for the feedback, let me know if you guys have any other ideas!

Killer of a Wife and a Mother (Spoilers I guess)
Amethyst replied to Chilibunny's topic in Reborn City
H-hello? I'm quite taken, sir... Random User with RMXP: Oh I looked through the game files. Here's where Gible is and everything you have to do to get it. -
Without giving too much away, you might want to go check where you got what you already had from the first place you got it.

All right, so we're coming up on what, a week after the community release? This is the first episode we've, as a site and mod team, put spoilers under wraps in the community following the episode. Now, I wanna get some feedback from the people who this effort is for in the first place: People who haven't played E15 yet, but intend to: I just want to know how we're doing. Has this been working out for you? Have you gotten spoiled despite our attempts? If so, how/where? Do you have ideas of other stuff that needs to be policed for spoilers? Has enforcement been on point, or too slow?

The Bemusings and Questions I Have of Life [Part 1 of 3]
Amethyst replied to Darvan Korematsu's topic in General Discussion
That's. Something awkward I did not realize. Note to self, get a site email set-up ASAP... I don't maintain the notion that humans are inherently any different between the two major sexes. But as I said, society rewards one group for acting one way, and another group for acting a different way. The traits I listed for example are things men are rewarded for, whereas women are often not. This inevitably shapes both groups' behaviors in more or less opposite ways. It just so happens those things conflict with my personal ideas quite directly. Those are just my ideals though, and exploring why I hold them is a different discussion entirely. Nonetheless, the primary difference remains in reinforcement from society. As I would say about many things. -
The Bemusings and Questions I Have of Life [Part 1 of 3]

Being that I'm not male, that would make sense, wouldn't it. Trans or not. (And yeah, making videos means what I look like isn't a secret either, so no worries about that.) -
The Bemusings and Questions I Have of Life [Part 1 of 3]
Amethyst replied to Darvan Korematsu's topic in General Discussion
It's a bit more complicated than just "had a sex change." Especially since the sex part of it is only a piece of a much larger picture. But I am transgender, yes. It's not exactly a secret, although I won't be surprised that a lot of newer people here might not have known that. -
bruh Yeah, welcome to the club. Actually I'm really glad that you're taking steps to take care of yourself, because admittedly I've been a little worried. Especially since my requests don't exactly help your workload

(POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT) New Agate Circus Puzzle
Amethyst replied to friebz's question in On the Hunt
Most event Pokemon will get one egg move from a smaller list of 1-5 (usually 3) that I picked out from their full egg move set. In most cases I was nice, and only included the best egg moves in those lists. -
The Bemusings and Questions I Have of Life [Part 1 of 3]
Amethyst replied to Darvan Korematsu's topic in General Discussion
Oh, for the love of fuck, please do -not- ask Freud. (pun subconsciously intended) For me, being inclined to women is mostly a matter of being repulsed by men. On the surface level, the social habits men are popularly rewarded for (never showing emotion, sexual aggression, trying to be dominant, etc) are absolutely detestable to me. In addition to that, certain past experiences I've had with boys have been rather miserable. Those compound to create a general and rather constant discomfort around males for me. Fortunately, it's not a problem over the internet, and it also seems to be subverted for people I know better, and for more feminine boys. And since it seems trans* stuff seems to have gotten drafted into this topic, I'll offer my piece on that too. Because for me, transitioning wasn't just about "being comfortable". It was about the fact that if I had to keep trying to live a life that wasn't mine, I was just going to kill myself instead. I realized how much of my entire world was caked in self-loathing that stemmed from the simple truth that who I am, was entirely incompatible with who I was expected to be. After that, there really wasn't another choice.
