  1. For both of you, can you check and post what GPU the game is running on? And if you have a dedicated GPU, try running the game on that instead-- that should fix this black screen issue. This is probably a minimum-requirements issue. Actually, before either of that, I'd like to try working with a special build of this directly. If either of you can hit me up on Discord I'd appreciate it. I'm in the main Reborn server, link is in the site menu but here: https://discord.gg/kSEdwup Got a chance to do this and we probably cannot fix this in a meaningful way-- windows is competing with the game for resources. comment about dGPU / requirements stands, sorry guys :c
  2. ah. right. catalina. yeah, that is almost certainly the problem, and i don't know how feasible that is going to be for me to fix in the near future... i am very sorry.
  3. Thanks for that, and I'm glad you got it working! The autosave system though... surprising. This is the first we've heard about that-- any chance you could turn it back on long enough to get a screenshot of what kind of error you get from that?
  4. my favorite anime is oarenting high school host club

  5. Downloads have been updated for some fixes In theory, it should fix all the reported crashes that aren't related to older GPUs If anyone is still planning on playing through, i do recommend updating. If you're done, probably no need. If you do update, note that save files need to be moved manually -- the save folder is game folder/www/save/ on windows and game.app/contents/resources/app.nw/save/ on mac just move everything in there (screens folder optional)
  6. Thanks! Can you also try setting the game to run using your dedicated GPU and see how much that fixes? quick instructions copied from other thread on that:
  7. Try right clicking on your desktop. There might be something that says Nvidia Control Panel. Open that, and go to Program Settings. There'll be a place where you can find/add programs-- add the game's EXE, set it to run with the dedicated GPU, and hit apply. That's how it works on my computer anyway, yours might be slightly different? I could post some screenshots later if you need more specifics
  8. known already. i think we've prevented the crash now, but nova's not intended to be beatable for the demo. full game, however...
  9. i've taken a pass at fixing this, but i really wish there was more information so i could be confident that i'm correct about the problem. if anyone else gets this error i'd still like to know if there are any additional details about what was going on in the game at the moment-- always that same unit, never the other ones of her class, for instance? does it happen -right- after combat?
  10. crits aren't supposed to be parried-- nova's personal skill was bypassing that though aaaaaaand so it broke fixed, thanks!
  11. I would still like your specs, but I think we have been able to prevent this specific issue now! Turns out it was reloading the whole demo map just before leaving it, whoops.
  12. [reposting since we split the thread] thanks for the feedback y'all ! really glad you're enjoying it, issues aside! points: with regards to saving, limited saves (or a cooldown on it) is our intention but we noticed a lot of people not saving or not saving enough for the demo, and especially for testing where things are a bit unstable we decided to just let it be infinite for the demo specifically. we don't plan on letting it be that infinite for the actual separate tactical/action difficulties is definitely the plan i think the lack of inputs while animating is because of the cooldown on attacks which i'm given to understand is a bit high right now UI stuff we can continue to work on too for sure, filling up the timer for ranged combat sounds nice, maybe we have the bottom far flash at the moment the player gains control, we can brighten those damage texts. Art selection does take extra click when you only have one right now, we have ideas to streamline that too!
  13. @Pilos Split this into its own topic for bug handling Can you also post your GPU information please? All of these crashes are consistent with what we'd expect from a weak GPU or if the game is running on integrated graphics Never mind that, we're good. But if you have a dedicated GPU in your computer, all of these issues will probably be fixed by running the game on that for now. That's a setting you can set on your own machine
  14. Can you post your GPU information please? This is an error when loading the map, so I'm really surprised that it failed to load the small post-demo cutscene map but managed load the actual battle horker map just fine...
  15. oh dear..... i don't suppose it gives you any kind of information if you click on that question mark or anything...............?
  16. Okay I don't Mac so I'm a little vague on the details here and we're kind of just taking guesses Apparently Mac doesn't like opening files from "unidentified developers" so to help this you can try Moving the game to applications folder Open applications and right click on the game, select Open (as opposed to opening by double clicking) There should be a prompt that asks if you're very sure you want to open this file just in case you were having second thoughts since a moment before Say yes and hopefully it works??? This is very much a shot in the dark, but hoping it makes a difference because I've little information otherwise-- unless perhaps there's some kind of a More details thing?
  17. @ Kenneth can you show me your computer's specs? CPU, RAM and GPU if possible. We're still trying to get a sense of the minimum requirements for this, sorry to hear it didn't run well. Also interested to know what kinds of crashes you got, but that might be better in the bug reporting section than this thread.
  18. Wow, you got that at the very end? Was it perhaps directly after Nova just left the map? Frustrating though, I'm sorry-- so far we've only seen this show up at the start of the chapter when loading the map, as an issue with hardware...
  19. Thanks for taking the time to write all this! So a few of the points can be answered easily: Button Prompts can be switched to PS style in the options menu Togglable aggro range is definitely a planned feature, I miss it too foshure Wrt 'force' feeling inappropriate for an intro, this isn't actually meant to be the start of the game! It's a few chapters in. We've got plans ^^ Combat forecast and lag I don't have immediate solutions too, but we're in agreement that both of them need some work, and they'll definitely continue to be focuses for us as we progress. I'm glad you enjoyed the game though! Cheers!
  20. gosh, i really wish there was more error message there. did you kill her, do you know? or did she still have hp left after the crits?
  21. There's no need for words now, right? Only prayers. And as always, no one will be there to listen to them. [The beta has ended! Thanks to all who've participated!] (Version B4- uploaded 11/24) Linux users-- are you out there? Apologies if so, we'll need a bit of time to work that one out... System Requirements (?) We're still figuring this out. Our best guess right now is that you should be just fine if you have at least 4 GB RAM and an Open GL 4.1 (ES 2.0)-capable GPU. If your integrated graphics does not meet that, you can also assign the game to run on a dedicated GPU and you should be peachy. Bugs? There's a forum. Feedback? Use this one. There's a lot of things that have not been done for the demo that we're planning on, but we don't wanna burn more months on it when everyone's still waiting on Reborn. While the game isn't totally polished yet, we hope you all can at least find some enjoyment in it for now! Save frequently. Or let autosave do it. But this is not considered a stable release-- it is still a beta. You enter at your own peril, and we respect you for it.
  22. As a community rule, we accept that all people are equally deserving of life, rights and happiness regardless of their race, sexuality, identity, or any other aspect. In support of that, and for the sake of creating a positive and safe environment for all users, we do not allow various slurs and other words in the community. We will list some here, but since humans keep inventing new ways to do harm to each other with words, this list is not exhaustive: Many of these words, such as the racial slurs, are harmful because their usage is historically steeped in dehumanizing attitudes and oppression as perpetuated by institutionally-privileged groups. Per our aforementioned expectation that all individuals are deserving of rights and happiness, we cannot abide by these words which have been tools used to ostracize individuals outside of a small centralized group. Some of these words are context-dependent. For instance, using 'gay' to talk about sexuality is fine. Using 'gay' as a synonym for something that is stupid or bad is not okay. 'Rape' in the context of a mature discussion about sexual assault is fine. 'Rape' as a synonym for losing hard in a video game is not okay. Referring to a device or snare to catch someone off guard as a 'trap' is okay. Referring to a character or person as a 'trap' is not. So on. Please use discretion and courtesy as we expect you be capable of doing. We understand that not everyone recognizes the harm of some of these contexts, so we ask that you listen respectfully to others feelings on the matter. Using variants or self-censoring those words does not make them acceptable. Because we cannot confirm identities over the internet, racial slurs are not acceptable even if you are of the given race in question. Please do not look for loopholes-- this is not about semantics, it's about the effect language has on other people. If you have questions or concerns, please talk to us as staff. If you see some of these words in an inappropriate capacity please report them using the Report feature on the forum or by bringing screenshots to a staff member. Thanks for understanding.
  23. I recognize that this is technically a different issue than the previous thread, but you basically just made a thread that reads almost exactly like this like three days ago. Like, bro, are you okay? Specifically I am referring to the amount of vitriol in both these and many of your other posts Yes, there are still bugs in the AI. Yes, we are obviously still working on it. At no point have we ever said that it is done. But all of your posts about this display an attitude of entitlement and bad faith on the matter. For instance, you're saying the game is too easy while new players are still frequently ostracized by the difficulty of the first two gyms as is, and the way you write these questions seems to be with the assumption that we've made it easier on purpose or don't care. Personally I don't even agree that it is easier now than in 16. Trainers used items more before, but they used them in such a way that they would just get KO'd immediately after doing so, throwing what was otherwise a free sweep. This-- this coming into the general section and making what is effectively a vaguepost about how the AI is bad without providing any details as to the situations you're noticing-- is not only unhelpful, but the way you go about it is supremely rude. I would like to say, instead, please make threads in the bug reporting section including the very specific details of situations you've seen and why they're a problem... and you can technically still do that-- I'd prefer that to this. But truthfully even with as many details as possible it's almost impossible to diagnose AI issues when debuglogs aren't on, which means we have to wait until the next testing segment-- which is also fine because we are already aware of some bugs that still need to be fixed in how it assumes minimum damage rolls, and other cases. We can't have those testing sessions all the time, though. So instead I have to ask you to be patient. Please be patient. Please consider showing more respect not just to us on Reborn but also the devs of other fangames-- I've seen that this is not an issue isolated to us. Frankly, please consider showing respect to other human beings altogether-- like man it's not against the rules explicitly, but what is that avatar? Insensitive, at the least I don't want to publicly roast you or anything-- a sentiment which I feel is not mutual-- but I am extensively disappointed that you continue to conduct yourself in this way Please chill.
  24. The Starlight community open beta will begin Monday. Some details on the game here--
