  1. Sending Eevee on a second drowsy turn is too risky. If it doesn't have Focus Sash (or no luck with Focus Band), Eevee will fail. Eject Button wouldn't be effective if the opposing Pokemon won't attack on the turn it yawns. In addition, only Purrloin and Liepard can have Yawn with Prankster... so pray opponent won't have priority attack or...
  2. Question: Have you tried writing fanfic (or at least sets of some random short stories) from the "Protagonists can talk" bits? Cuz they seem quite a intriguing idea to base.

    1. OmegaStellarSolare

      OmegaStellarSolare

It’s difficult to do so long since I don’t have much freetime.

  3. He is also... what? Reserve Gym Leader? Undercover Meteor Agent? Alumni of Onyx Academy? Ame's assistant/sparing partner? ...or just a secret Jigglypuff fan that doesn't want to be ridiculed by the community?
  4. But this has to be played well. Even if, it's risky. You use Yawn on the first turn, but you only can bring in Eevee safely after the second turn. Remember that Sleep lasts 1-3 turns, so it's a chance on the fourth move, when Eevee uses its' Z-move, the opposing Pokemon could wake up, and since it's Eevee, it'd be OHKO'd. ESPECIALLY against late-game Boss Trainers, like Lin. However, by using Teleport in the second turn, Eevee can use Extreme Evoboost on the third turn, in which opposing Pokemon will be sleeping. But to effectively use Baton Pass, Eevee will need to have maximum possible Speed. That is, assuming Lin won't switch out the drowsy Pokemon, leaving you in rather unadvantegous position if you think she would have her Pokemon stay. Of course, if Lin's lead Pokemon will hold Magical Seed, you can lead with Eevee, as the opposing Pokemon will be recharging. But... just in case of it outspeeding Eevee (as that Magical Seed Pokemon will start with +1 Speed), give it Focus Sash. Even still... give it that damn Focus Sash if something went wrong. And after Baton Passing, I'd suggest some bulky Pokemon who can also set up for maximum performance (My personal favorite is Dragon Dance Mega Tyranitar, but it does have some weaknesses), or someone who has Speed Boost + Sword Dance or Moody + Protect/Detect combo. If played right, the only thing that you could worry, is Hydreigon's Black Hole Eclipse and Arc-PULSE.
  5. If she only dares to try... Then I'll show her NOT to underestimate the power of friendship, and saving X-items on the darkest hour. She's not a God, not in the slightest... but a spoiled, aggravating, cheeky, egocentrical, goddamn DAUGHTER OF A- Two can play that game. Some boosting, Baton Passing, switching to some fast and/or bulky sweeper, and better be careful, as I know how to boost-sweep. One mistake... And it's all over. Unless the field is not beneficial.
  6. Revives are for WEAK! True Ace Trainers only use standard healing items. Also... No NPC in Reborn actually uses Revive-type of items, so I will be fair and not use them too. Plus, I like to keep battles more in nod to anime - if the Pokemon faints, it cannot be used in battle. To be honest... I don't remember the last time I used Revive-type item. It was probably 4 years ago while playing Emerald against Steven - I... wanted to see how strong actually my playthough team was and I went with the team I used to defeat Wallace - Sceptile, Gardevoir, Aggron. ...what? That is the exact team (plus Shelgon leveling in the background but it didn't participate). It's better than my first Pokemon team - in Fire Red - which consisted of 4 Flying types with no Rock resists! Man, I was such an idiot back then.
  7. I know. I've prepared in advance: Determination? Check Desire to conquer? Check My team of faithful, mighty Pokemon ready to take on any challenge? Check Sandstorm setup and strategies to overwhelm commoners (and to annoy Ame xd)? Check Firm clothing? (checks the black shirt, black-white Nikes, blue jeans and sleeveless jeans vest) Check 99,999 Full Restores? Check Single-shot pistol for sudden emergencies? Check Theme song? ...wait... idonthaveany 'Kay, I think I'm ready.
  8. Knowing him and his often ridiculous choices... That's questionable. Either X-item Spam, overcomplicated strategy or dumb luck would save him. But even then there's the final clash with Solaris and Gym Battle with Hardy, which might turn out to be more challenging in Nuzlockes, due to the possibility of not having appropriate Pokemon for sweeping him
  9. Obviously. Two completely different universes with different sets of rules and laws. Comparing it objectively would be impossible.
  10. Backstory. And also I did 6-0d Cynthia once irl in the past. He apparently wasn't in good mood at the time, so he went all out. But... I'm not the first one to create a character who does that - Reukra and Soul have destroyed her as well.
  11. Tell that to TyranitarTube. He got destroyed by Solaris as soon as he got to him.
  12. I'm "repairing" the story, so everything will be on the same level of consistency without holes. I will soon send out links to the episodes in Wattpad... as I won't waste my time editing everything all over again here, and copying format is a bad idea - I've done it once and destroyed accidentally some eyesights. And no, I am far from beginning - as of right now, there are 38 episodes (including those "not repaired"), with the last one ending just before the battle for Millennium Badge. The first episodes might be on the shorter side, but the deeper we go, the longer they get.
  13. You're not the first one... nor the last one to react in that way. I know my ideas are controversial, weird, unsettling and all... But at least they are unique, and not creepy/disgusting/other than that. Didn't she feel bad because she had become Cheerleader team's Captain simply because Amaria had refused the "offer"? Because I think that was said in their journal entries. Also in the Void. Are what we've seen in the Void true? Most of the events probably are, as their existence connects the facts. But what of them exactly are? And how much...? And if those are tampered, who is responsible? I really do want to know. In Simon's Side Quest - when we give him Tara's tag. At least... I think it was said. Or somewhere after that. Even if it wasn't, it is one of the two logical choices - the other is that they were close cousins. Because Tara picking Simon's last name to feel less alienated, is very cute, but also not likely as I think Solaris would demand from his men their real names - at least to have them in the data. Yet no one has said that is impossible - it is quite common trope in the fiction (and "regular" event irl) that siblings were separated from each other when they were babies, and as years went on, they've forgotten that they had one.
  14. I meant "right here", "on this train", and not overall. Still... I have a bad feeling it was me who threw that boomerang which will hit me in my head when I'm not looking. You sound like one of my fanmade lore characters, who was bowing to, shaking hands, and even hugging dead bodies of his fallen allies, and kept saying things like: "Don't be sad because they're gone. Be happy because they are in better place now. Don't mourn their death. Better celebrate their ascending" Or "They wouldn't appreciate you crying over them. All they want from you, is to carry their hopes, dreams and legacy, and continue the quest. They want from us to finish what we've begun, as this is what they're wished for when they still were among us" Despite that character being a warmonger, drunkard and religious (almost to the point of being "cult") leader, he is perhaps the most positive and optimistic character I've ever made. Which is... weird because I've made dozens of them on various fandoms. Isn't that weird? Also, that raises a question... Is there any character in Reborn that is always positive, and never had a moment of doubt? A time when they were reflecting on their life, past, and relationship? Because I can't really recall any.
  15. That's a bit better. I will... But I do not have enough psyche. Getting attached emotionally to Pokemon, who then fly away to the heavens, just because of my one mistake. I've watched many, many different types of Nuzlockes in my life, and I'm afraid that me laughing at every... rather unexpected... death would backfire and cause me lose the entire thing as soon as I get into midgame. Still... I can try. Someday
  16. I'm a type of guy who always tries to cover up all "plot holes" that I've done - so no one can do the "Oscarus forgot" compilation.

But there was one I couldn't fix... until recently. That was the relationship between Oscar (OC) and Cynthia which is, um, ...untypical. You'll see.

Oscar (despite it never being shown as of right now) seems to have some kind of dislike toward Sinnoh Grand Champion for no apparent reason, despite her never doing anything to upset Battle Emperor...mostly.

In fact, Cynthia has nothing to say about him but compliments and respectful comments (which despite not being canon, it matches her character, at least from the anime). One could say that their battle during certain World Coronation Series where Oscar's Tyranitar (Mega) destroyed Cynthia's team 6-0, could offend him as he was expecting "challenge", but that's not the case - if he wanted challenge, he should give her a chance to shine, and not boost, tear and kill everything on its way.

Up until today, I had no in-lore reason for my character to be in a cold relationship with perhaps the most beloved canon Champion. The off-universe reason is, as it was just mentioned, Cynthia being "the most beloved canon Champion". But it may not be as apparent as it seems. For you to understand, you have to know this: I HATE overrated things! And not "overrated" as in just loved or having some sort of special attention from the creators, because for example Lucario and Charizard are overrated in that way, but I still like them (maybe the personal attachment plays the role). I mean "overrated" as in: fandom bitchin' on how they are "awesome" and ascending to the position so high that others don't matter anymore and are thrown into obscurity, despite them being weak, pathetic, insignificant, or simply being a subject of blatant lie.

Like "Oh, Bidoof is the true god of Pokemon, Arceus who?" or "Greninja is da best, and every1 who don't agree is stoopid" or... too many to count. That is not only about Pokemon fandom, but every damn fandom on this planet - without any exceptions. Although I admit there are some of these that I like and accept... but those have much lore and twists inside them that them actually make me smile, like "The Mythology of Lord Helix" - Twitch Plays Pokemon, from some dumb multi-multi-multi pseudo co-op game, has created an actual history, with characters, plot, legends, timelines, and it was so addicting that I'm loving that kind of creativity.

But Cynthia? Just because she was a bit more difficult than the other Champions from mainline games, she's suddenly above all else, simply the best and the others are forgettable? Th'fuck?! She wasn't even a challenge for me!

...I mean, she DID defeat me on my first attempt in Platinium, but then my strongest Pokemon was Empoleon on level 53, and the other a bit lower. I did get to Cynthia with a team of level 50-53, without using Revives in battles (only a few Full Restores on Lucian, but he was doing the same thing), no X Items - which I was declaring them to be useless for true Pokemon Trainer - and no real EV/IV training or cherry-picking Pokemon.  I was way better than I expected, wow.

Of course, after a bit of grinding, I have defeated her with level 57 Houndoom (which knew Sunny Day and Solar Beam, which make it singlehandedly defeat Milotic even after being quite damaged from Spiritomb) and lv 58 Garchomp which haven't missed a single Dragon Rush in the battle, while Cynthia's Garchomp couldn't connect one before fainting. I don't know why they claim it to be that difficult - I've even played Diamond version to check if that Cynthia was tougher but nope; underleveled Torterra and Garchomp were more than enough.

She also forces us, a not-teenage-yet child, to go into the place which might kill you if you do one step in the wrong direction, just to hunt some depressed young adult who would be simply teared apart of separated from everything else by Giratina.

A very responsible behavior, Cynthia. And fandom laughed at Leon for being "not-Champion", despite the fact that most of the plot he had spent doing His. Damn. Job!

Also, some "s-words" have declared her "Greatest Dragon Master" despite the fact... that at the time of that declaration... she had a grand total of 1 DRAGON! JUST ONE!!! Which pains me, as a Dragon Tamer from Day 1, that she is apparently more Dragon than Lance - the walking definition of Dragon Master; who uses both Dragon-type and Dragon-like Pokemon - Clair, Iris, Drayden, or even Nobunaga, who had in possession two Legendary Dragon-types and was the ruler of the Dragnor - a place where multiload of dragons were living. The only reason she's so popular is because others-... ...I know I have pushed the boundaries too much, and may get a warning, so I won't make my situation worse, and just say that she's way too popular for reasons other than character or history. Those reasons are more... visible, and psyhical

I... shouldn't be so strict and rough, but I simply want you to understand, since I do have problems with "sending messages" to others.

To the point - the off-universe reason for Oscar disliking Cynthia is my hate toward fandom for gloryfing her beyond human understanding. But... that cannot be put into lore, that would make no sense, and create a plot hole I wish to erase. And then, during Math sessions on the academy, while I was waiting for the rest to do their exercises I'd done far before them, it clicked. I was reminded of one fact - Oscar, just like Cynthia, is an expect in mythology and history of the world. It has been also said, many times, Oscar wishes to eradicate evil and bring peace, even using the most extreme methods. Do you know who was evil, wishing to create a new, "perfect" universe, destroying the old one, and is mentioned in the legends and myths?

    Spoiler

Volo! The man who can be described as "genderswap and character-flip Cynthia". Despite no actual connection being made, their resemblance is too striking for them not to be related. And everyone who finished main plot of Legends: Arceus, knows what he had tried to do.

Oscar could read about that in one of the older books - as I presume Akari/Rei would spread the news after some time or write it down themselves, and quickly notice the resemblance. Despite the fact he rarely uses it to full potential, Oscar is incredibly intelligent, and if given just a few clues, he could connect them, if there was any connection at all.

Yet all of that is hidden behind facade of heavy-handed leader, (once) undefeated Trainer, and intimidating individual. But he's way too "imperfect" to be classified as "Mary Sue-type of character"

That could make him start to believe Cynthia might try to do the same, and began to distance himself from her, still keeping a keen eye and preparing in case of a sudden shift.

Is it paranoid? Definitely yes, no excuses. But at least there are no visible plot holes~

Was this mumble necessary...?   I cannot tell. I'll delete this if asked by admins, but not in a next several hours, as I will be... busy.

  17. The "black and white" concept was going around for some time on this forum... But who did start using it? Who should be blamed for the beginning of overusage of that phrase? ...maybe I shouldn't say it because it may turn out that it was actually me who had begun, and that would be quite ironic. Aster probably had been homeless, living on the streets or something like that, before he joined Meteors and swore his life for the cause. It may not have been said directly, but it was hinted when Aster was saying that he had nothing before becoming Meteor. Simon joined because he wanted to reunite with his fiancée/wife in the "New World". But overtime, he started to feel love for Tara, and reciprocated that feeling. He became conflicted - he was in love with both of them, and was reacting strongly when both of them died. And I still feel bad for laughing when I discovered that Tara was his sister, and I was like: "Bro, were you going to marry your sis?! XD". Just after some time, I did realize they had no idea they were related, and I was feeling so bad I turned off the game to cry. *Eclipse. Like in "Solar Eclipse" or "Lunar Eclipse" Not to "match him", but to "be better than him". In the very first dialogue with him, Cal says how did he start training Fire-types and become Fire Leader just to beat his Ice Leader brother (both being currently either retired from the position, or stepping down to Reserve position). If he wanted to "match Blake", Cal would: train Ice types, start being a complete asshole, master the shooting games in style of CoD, or watch/read ***** I really do hope Shelly haven't seen those. I'll murder Blake if she did. Either the "I have created you, so I have to destroy you" cliche... or seppuku. Yet-... Read my previous messages to get it, I won't bother searching.
  18. Masochist. No offense, of course, but that sounds like suicide - if you wanna survive without them in Reborn Nuzlocke, your best option is hyper-offense + Stealth Rock to be around Sturdy/Focus Sash Pokemon. I... haven't done Reborn in Nuzlocke (I haven't done Nuzlocke at all), but I do know that it's gonna be a journey from which many will not return. I've played "mod" of Reborn only once, and don't intend to do it EVER AGAIN! To this day, every time I hear that piano, I have PTSD. Because... Not even pre-V13 Insane Mode Rejuvenation was that high. Never-dying Mega Tyranitar, hitting like a truck Excadrill (it was my fault for having Sandstorm team as well) and lv 97 (opposing to my lv 90 max) Mega Garchomp with Assasult Vest and 504/756/504/504/504/504 EV spread. Yeah, you do see correctly, that is - I believe - its spread. I had to resort using Mega Glalie with Explosion to defeat that monster. Also setting up Reflect because I thought I wouldn't survive if it hit me Thanks to Reflect, I wasn't OHKOd, and I did. But... holy crap - that was intense.
  19. So it's longer than anticipated. Especially the later ones. I assumed those were 1-2k words, while the latest chapters for my are 5k+ (with quite a few crossing 7,5k) You're saying this to a guy who has killed major character despite their personal plot being far away from being finished. There are no "unusual takes" for me - just those who are predictable, and unpredictable
  20. Kanto - a "nameless" Trainer from little village in Kanto not only singlehandely have taken out an villainous, renowned organization, but also has defeated every major Trainer in the region and become new Grand Champion... in just the span of few days! Now that Trainer IS famous (we know him as "Red"), but then he was basically nobody. Yeah, Blue was, and still is, legend - he too was hardworking and all... but he had the talent in blood - his grandfather Samuel used to be one of the world's greatest, being Kanto/Indigo Champion in his prime. And now he still is, but not in battling, but in researching and such. Red has come a bigger way, and have achieved more, so he's a better example here. But taking care and making friends with Pokemon is equally, if not more, important. Johto - I... have actually struggled to find anything smart here. For me this region was quite bland in plot, or simply I couldn't find deeper sense within. But as I'm thinking, the lesson could be that "Nothing's eternal - there's always someone above the top"; which signifies that even the best might be bested by others. Hoenn - that's straightforward. Practically the plot of Team Magma/Aqua - they wanted to change the nature in order to shape the world to their likings, so the nature decided to show them - with Groudon/Kyogre going rampage, hadn't it been for Rayquaza and Brendan/May, Hoenn would be no more. Human is no match for nature. Not its Gods. Sinnoh - I was thinking mainly about Cyrus and his speeches about "imperfections", and by "imperfection" he meant "having the soul". Maybe there's better lesson... But I couldn't find it. But, Christ... This might sound controversial but I hate Sinnoh. The reason I do, is because of the fandom, and their si-........ I think you got the point. I won't write more, because I get headaches from just thinking about it. Unova - the most obvious one. Pretty clear, no contradictions, no objections. Everyone who played through Unova, agrees. Kalos - this one is a bit iffy, but it has to do with mainly Lysandre and his obsessions. Basically, he wanted to help people, but they were so greedy and ungrateful, he decided to "fuck it, imma commit genocide". Which... I somehow understand, but he was looking at the very limited side of human nature - the bad one. He wasn't taking into account the other sides of human nature: more neutral one, and the good one. His obstructed vision was the cause of his actions. Which is poetic, since all members of Team Flare were wearing some kind of glasses/mask/facewear (even Lysandre at one point). And also because fandom is equally greedy and ungrateful because they shit on everything, even on the slightest mistakes or imperfections. Alola - FUCKLOAD OF DIALOGUES AND CUTSCENES! Hard to find anything by looking at it, simply because there's so much of it. But that's what Alola is - a combination of past and future. The culture of the region, with legends about Guardians, Trials and other traditions on the one side, and many new modern things like Rotom Dex, Pokemon League (new to Alola), Aether Foundation's buildings and creations on the other. And, surprisingly, it does work well. Well... That and Lillie's strong character development. But the latter can be found in other regions, so it's not unique. Galar - ...honestly, can you blame me? The region's cool, character are awesome, setting's strong - they've could created an Unova-level story! But no~... Other than rivals' stories (Hop realizing he wasn't born battling genius like his brother, Marnie finding her calling, and Bede accepting the opportunities and embracing his pinker side), the story is shit. DLCs are better in that regard, but that doesn't justify the junk which is main plot (and main postgame quest - those "princes" who have more gel on their hairs than brain in their heads were so annoying I actually wanted to strangle them in the centre of the Wyndon Stadium). Also... No actual villainous group. Which may sound dumb, because there are universes where there is no villain - just "good" antagonist - but for Pokemon that won't cut it. That could slide if non-villain antagonists were good but... no. Team Yell was pointless and annoying; just some bunch of dumb PG ultras. And Macro Cosmos is Aether Foundation but Steel-type and no significance. That "lesson" is made because Rose wasn't patient to just wait one, damn day for the "Second Darkest Day". If he did that, he would have the support of Leon and maybe MC as well, and his plan might've potentially succedded. I kinda get that Eternatus couldn't be controlled, so he had to rush things out, but then that rises another question... Why the hell was he feeding Eternatus so much Wishing Stars at such rate, instead of culminating and giving them to it on the last day? Plus the plan is... stupid. "Oh, energetic crisis will occur in approximately 1000 years from now on, so I have to start the apocalypse that may destroy Galar to protect Galar"... at least in the anime they've given Rose better motivation than that. This is convoluted... and as you said, others might have pulled different lessons, but I think me lessons make some sense
  21. I'll read that someday There's quite a lot of these - but maybe that is because they are short... for my standards at least. Judging by opinions, I think this fanfic is worth of reading, and maybe I will get some inspirations.
