I couldn't say it was overhyped cuz I heard neither hide nor hair of hype for the show. Just some random fanart here and there. I thought it was some newish MMO until someone mentioned it was really an anime. I don't know that I was super friggin awesome, but I definitely enjoyed watching it.

I really enjoyed Sword Art Online. Unlike terrible anime like Naruto and Bleach, it doesn't overstay its welcome and is really easy to get into for just about everyone.

As a fan, I gotta say I'd love to see torkoal get an evolution. Just imagine eviolite torkoal. Maybe it could be like yanmega and tangrowth, requiring it to learn ancient power to evolve (pretty old class of reptiles after all- *points to Carracosta) or perhaps it could evolve when it learns shell smash. A stat increase/redistribution based on a shell smash-triggered evolution would be interesting. And maybe not an alternate evolution for Machamp, but rather an alternate form if you use a special item to remove its power save belt.

Can only create a bast sprite? Well, you have to make one first, before anything. Then go to the "customize your sprite" link on the left side of your screen to visit the shop and browse/buy stuff. Once you have $R. To get $R, you pretty much get it from being active in the forum community. Making posts, placing in the occasional contest (someone should look into anteing up some small prizes for random casual tourneys on the server side), marketing some service (sprite/sig/avatar shops). Some boards award fewer $R for posts than others...

You know a tier that isn't used? All the clear sky ones. Of course that means the vast majority of the top ranked teams would have to change a great deal to handle the clear sky part. Surely such skilled battlers can handle that... pffft. I'm sure they could make a copy of the current, regular tiers, rename them as something else and use those alongside the overt OU tier, etc. Really, the only people who would know to go in and manually change their team tiers would be forum members who knew what to look for.

I was just thinking of that time some kid I knew said he couldn't watch pokemon because his parents said they were the devil. Maybe they weren't so far off. Pokemon are creatures, based on actual animals for the most part. But then they are anthropomorphized- given human characteristics and personalities, the capacity and tendencies for good or evil, etc. Then they are given superhuman abilities and control over aspects of nature. And yet weak, puny humans are somehow able to use mysterious, unexplained methods to conjure and control them. Sure sounds like a lot the world's mythologies of deities and demons to me.
