Is it just me or is protean greninja actually Too overpowered??
Noir replied to Aloha's topic in Reborn City
I mean, these "once it sets up it can literally kill everything in your opponent's team" sweepers usually also have "checks" and "counters", and for such Pokemon to successfully sweep, those Pokemon need to be removed. That said, it doesn't matter how a Pokemon "sweeps", as it can do so with one similar criteria which is to have all checks and counters removed. That's how "sweeping" works. -

I mean, the given context of the thread above alludes to the discussion of Greninja being used by players in the newly implemented online battling system which is where the creator of the thread referred to in his voice about Greninja being broken, so I'm not sure why it's usefulness in game has any relevance to this discussion in the first place. "As for Greninja being a sweeper, I disagree, it might be a late game sweeper, but not a full on one." What's the difference between it being able to sweep late game and it being a full on one with its role as a sweeper? It can win you the game and "beat the opponent's team by KOing all Pokemon offensively" with the right criteria, which is the baseline for the word's definition to begin with. -

Pardon me, but Greninja can be debated a sweeper of sorts. It doesn't need boosting moves to sweep, that's what made it so powerful; it has coverage for everything and can 2HKO everything in the game while maintaining momentum with U-Turn if it wants even if it lacked coverage, which made it very difficult to handle without priority or a Choice Scarf, making all playstyles difficult. In fact the only factor that made Greninja subsequently broken and banned was its access to Gunk Shot to handle Fairies, Greninja also isn't "a glue", as adds to little defensive synergy on a team apart from the fact that you could switch in on Psychic; for reference, "covering everything your team is weak against" would allude to having a very reliable switch in for almost every relevant metagame threat in game, which Greninja obviously cannot do given how squishy it is. Greninja can reliably cover offense, but cannot do so on the defensive spectrum. Even then, "can't sweep an entire team on its own" isn't a consensus for a Pokemon being not broken. Also, Protean Greninja will not be banned to Ubers any soon considering it is not used enough to have a major consensus. It is used less than 1/3rd of the time one would use Greninja-Ash, which debatably has a fair bit more redeeming qualities than Protean does; even then, with things like (currently) Toxapex, Primarina and Celesteela being suitable checks if not counters and the fast paced meta comprising of things like Pheromosa and the like (in part with Tapu Lele being part of why Greninja would be good, as it buffs Extrasensory for Greninja to handle Toxapex and negates priority moves for it) there are many other things that are of concern to the currently new meta (which takes time to adapt) and Pokemon that are more "broken" and contribute to Greninja's success. Also, don't contradict yourself by mentioning how Gyarados shouldn't be compared to Greninja and subsequently comparing Greninja to Aegislash in the sense that they will be soon be banned to Ubers much like back in the XY meta. Those two things are worlds apart in what they do and how impactful they were/are in the metagame. -

I'm interested in Snorunt. PM me for details, I can offer 4 x 31 Archens if you're interested. With 1 30 because, well, the parent has HP Ice. -
Don't be; mine is a mild case of occasional insomnia if anything, and sometimes I sustain myself via coffee, which obviously isn't very healthy either. I try to sleep more whenever I can but busy schedules hold that back. Heck I used to have only sleep once every two days which is even worse. Appreciate your ability to sleep.
-
I only need 2-4 usually. It really depends on how busy I am. I'm a light sleeper.

Ahh, Rose. There's a lot of things I wanna say about you, but to keep it short, you're easily one of the closest people I've made in this community, and even if life takes its toll on you, I'm glad to have met you and you're still awesome member of this community. Happy Birthday Rose! May happiness and prosperity be yours on this day and for the days to come. PS Expect a birthday present from me later maybe

Since this was only introduced in ORAS and not any other gen, I'm not sure if this is implemented here, but I don't want to go blindly resetting stuff. Does the Wild Absol you obtain near the Calcenon Waterfall have a chance to hold Life Orb?

Venus The stage set before Venus was…unappealing. Creatures regardless of size and anatomy, winged or specter, thewy, grotesque, or small, it mattered not; they were all in their own ways ugly. Black, shadowy spectres embodying the filth of the world, fading into naught but dust once eliminated, little left behind. So gauche. And all about him his associates were eliminating them, one by one, with means perhaps as equally nasty and unlovely. But Venus was different. He was a being destined and born to make and craft things that were beautiful. And that included the demise of a living thing -- the loss of a life, important or not, Venus had right to make each beautiful. And perhaps only he could make it beautiful. “And now-“ Readying a rose-like steel sculpture from his cloak, he tossed the enchanted piece of sculpted metal as it landed a stone's throw away beneath him, ready for it to explode in a matter of seconds; an excited expression graced his exterior upon knowing how much ignorant creatures were within the weapon's vicinity. “The curtain rises.” From the hem of his cloak he withdrew Whisper -- silently speaking to it as per the gun's namesake, his fingers tightened around the handle and he readied himself for attack. The instrument he held in his hand was, a product of his genius and wealth in gaining the finest materials and smiths for its construction. Precise and deadly, it was, in his time of which he was needed for more…morbid services, the paintbrush for his art, the coup de grace of his performance, with each especially crafted, bijou bullet the paint of which his art would flow. He decided to appease his attentions on the more humanoid creatures, readying Whisper as he committed to his first shot: One. Whisper released its first bullet, its first song; a flurry of rose petals burst into bloom as the bullet reached a first cluster of targets. In a burst of purity that was Venus’ art, the bullet’s contents turned the plain forms of the dull shadows into something radiant and exciting, like a flower blooming in the dawn. Two. Three. Second and third bullet emerged from the gun, each ever as powerful and feverish as the other as they struck their targets accurately and squarely as they writhed at the bullets' influence, each bullet the songs and dances that the puppets acceded to. Four. This last bullet would be the finest. The feel of the magic as it surged within the bullet quivered the weapon, struggling against the containment of the casing. He wasted no time to fire it -- and immediately, the explosive flower that he had left at his location burst as the final bullet met its mark detonated, unleashing a burst of magic like a flower blooming in the dawn, the massive explosion forming a crater in the explosive's wake, carving the ground in the very pattern the metal shell was designed with. The magic of the final bullet only added further to the already stunning scene of murder as the art released itself in a seraphic glow of light, bright as the sun to Venus' eyes shielded behind his mask. Even the deafening sound of the explosions were music to his ears. A smile, almost direful, remained on his face. A flower, four bullets and his beloved gun were all he needed. The glittery, dusty remains of the black shades as they faded were a welcome addition to this new piece, even if it was devoid of the primary, idiosyncratic color of sanguine never absent in his magnum opus. Venus wasn’t killing people like he has hired to in his passive job as an assassin now. They were things much worse, but much more enticing. A scattered display of floral petals, and the splatter of color from each bullet as they consumed and beautified their targets. One would have to have witnessed the scene from a high place to experience the beauty of the scenery before him, but Venus remained complacent. It was a new setting, and to that he had outdone himself. That, and good art did not need to be planned; it was felt. Caressing the side of his gun as if an owner grooming a pet, he gazed attentively at the painted canvas that stood before him. Now that is what I want to see. -
[IC] Lightgivers - Volume 1: A Feeling

Baixue Aqui was before her. The great Aqui, whom had safeguarded and nurtured her dreams ever since her childhood, the one being who halted the blizzard that plagued their homeland, was before her. And he was fighting, and he was in grave danger. Why did more strife have to happen? Why here? Why now? It wasn't the falcon that she knew, but perhaps the gods were courteous beings, whom reduced themselves to the limitations of human form for ease of interaction. She did not doubt Haruki's words back then, and the visage of the very being she so admired even in that state was nothing short of beautiful. From frozen shock, adrenaline rushed up to all her limbs as they shivered in disbelief and euphoria. Salty liquid stung her eyes fighting against their resistance to leak out, accentuating the luminescence of her purple eyes. Before she knew it, she barged across every obstacle dividing the distance between the being and her. sidling herself near his right foot as she did so, wails escaped her choked throat and her teardrops stained the floor beneath her. Her devotion to Aqui was almost fanatical. Without hesitation, she flew toward Aqui and positioned herself in a defensive gesture. It mattered not that she was acting irrationally, or almost insane; nor did it mean anything to her that she was being rude, inconsiderate or unmannerly. Feeling the warmth as her skin caressed against the being she had always wanted to meet for so long, she didn't know she could have so many joyous tears to shed for a lifetime. Even as the battle ensued, Baixue had charged in recklessly, ignorant and unafraid of the danger that would ensue. It mattered not that there was a being greater; only Aqui meant that much to her and no one else more. "STOP! Don't hurt him anymore!" She then quickly turned to the injured Aqui and attempted in many fickle ways to address and tend to his injuries. "I've always wanted to meet you!" The Aquillo-native murmured between sobs, every limb quivering as she spoke, "You've given me my power that day, right? On the day of the aurora? You saved me and gave me my gift, right? You remember me, don't you? Mother and Grandmother would be thrilled to know that I've found you at last! What would they say, oh, what would they think...." Her trail of overwhelming and overjoyed monologue refused to cease, each word coming faster than the other.... -

Venus Venus' work was posh, but also practical. He hid a frown directed at Katsuo, knowing how simple the problem would be solved, and he had a few ways he could make it much less burdening for the younger boy to carry it. Taking a piece of string from his sack hidden beneath his cloak, he rolled the piece of paper into a relatively thin cylinder, enough for one to store in a pocket (the notebook's pages are no bigger than the average exercise book) before securing it with the piece of string. "Here-" He handed the piece of work, as such that it was now much more convenient to be carried to Katsuo's likings. "Now it would suffice." -

Sephtis The grand stairway presented before the aspiring Banette uplifted his spirits with utmost excitement. Unlike the many plays in theaters he had witnessed and performed in, where the various actors and he himself, from experience, had walked down such steps as a grand entrance, the humbled Ghost-type was now pit before a flight of stairs to climb -- it was as if the stairway before him was the stairway to heaven itself. His ardor quelled, however -- upon instant notice of the three Sword Blade Pokemon behind him. They did little to startle him, but they did too much in irritating him. Irksome presences, all three, robotic bodyguards, as they perhaps were. Their crimson eyes held not the glint of dignity and regal quality an atypical solider would possess, much like the Bisharp and Swampert he had interacted with before; it led Sephtis to question what they were doing here, and why they followed him. Nor did they possess any bauble, none of a recognizable or presumable quality, to indicate their allegiances to the enclave. "I'd assume you're not of the army's bunch," He finally muttered. He prepared himself to react in case of any danger, noting the increasing animosity between them as he stopped. "Or if you are, you're doing a rather....excessively stern job at being my escorts."- 98 replies
