24 Welcome to college Iron! It's where students learn by themselves and the professors can slack off and get away with it

{Ken, Arthur and Rene} Arial remained silent as Ken and Rene recounted yesterday's adventures, eating the rest of her lunch all the while. With the last gulp of her lunch down her stomach, Arial nodded solemnly. "Considering that Professor Tenjo had no previous health problems, I feel like our farfetched theory is closer to the truth that what we want to believe... For one, we can safely rule out underground duels because, not only were there no electrodes or any devices that could kill someone instantly, but also because the organizers would not want these kinds of duels to be done out in public because it would get them into trouble, much less leaving a body lying around in broad daylight..." Something then clicked into her mind, what about their D-Pads? Didn't Klive want to find out whether or not those could cause a death? She quickly turned to Arthur who, she recalled, bumped into Arclight and got a new model of the Duel Gazer. "Arthur, right? You said you bumped into Arclight yesterday and dueled him! Besides giving you the brand new duel gazer, did he ever mention anything about any D-Pad malfunctions that could cause a duelist to die after a duel? A duel disk malfunction could be a more discreet way of killing someone than those shockers, depending on the situation."

{Ken, Arthur and Rene} "Yep, that's right." Arial confirmed with Ken, taking a little piece of rock candy that he offered. She could never say no to his sweets. Arial then waved Rene over to an empty seat nearby, inviting him into their circle. "Rene is right, both of us decided to take a tour of the museum yesterday, so he knows exactly what I know about the Shadow Duels and whatnot. The problem here though is that each of us only seem to only know bits and pieces of everything... Maybe we should get everyone on the same page first before I, or Rene, go into this myth. Ken's story actually leads into the Shadow Duel theory very nicely, at least from what he has told me. So, dear Sugar Prince, could be the gentleman that you are and fill Arthur and Rene in on what you just told me? Pretty please with a cherry on top?" she begged playfully.

{Ken and Arthur} Arial grinned at Ken's humor before settling in on listening to his testimony. She almost gasped out loud at the mention of Professor Tenjo dying from dueling a kid. Who was this eyewitness that Ken found? As soon as Arial was about to ask, the same vision that plagued the students immediately struck her mind. For the green-eyed teen, the pain was intense; it's almost as if a bowling ball was dropped onto her head. Through the burning sensation, her mind could only focus on the screaming and raging, blue fire licking through... buildings? Arial curled herself into a ball in her seat, trying her best to not scream. "Just... make it... stop... please!" Arial growled through her gritted teeth. As if the heavens above heard her plea, the vision vanished and, slowly, her head cleared as well. "The f*** was that?!" she finally yelled, uncurling herself from her fetal position. She didn't even realize that she was panting heavily from the mental torture. Arial looked around the room and found similar reactions from her fellow classmates. Even, Ken, who was nonchalant before, looked confused. She rubbed her temples, sighing with relief as the throbbing slowly subsided, but the screams of terror and the images of the fire were seared into her mind, like an iron to flesh. 'That... wasn't normal. No normal fire is blue...' She then heard the words "Izanami Lore 30," which caused her to raise an eyebrow. 'Izanami? The Goddess of Creation? What has she got to do with that? Wait a minute, Izanami... Isis... Shadow Duels? No way!' Her thoughts were then interrupted by Arthur, which effectively her back into reality. Arial looked up at the bluenette with the same puzzled expression, still considering the legitimacy of that myth. Should she tell them or not? Would they think she's crazy to link the two together? Then again, we have Lane spouting out how a card could possess someone... "I'm... Not sure if I'm the best person to ask, in all honesty..." Arial started, unsure of where to begin. "But, I guess I could kill two birds with one stone. So... Have a seat, if you want. We'll be here for a while if I have to tell you what I know." Arial motioned to a seat for Arthur to sit in. Whether or not he sat didn't really concern her, it's just common courtesy, after all. She turned to Ken first, since he was the one who addressed her first. "From Zane Truesdale's time, underground duels always had electrodes and were conducted in secrecy. Because of that, the chances of directly relating underground dueling to death are minuscule. Hence, even I only speculate that he was involved in such duels, since he never showed any signs of illness before or after that phase of his dueling career... I wouldn't be surprised if a death could be caused by one though, since electricity in the right amounts could send you into a coma and mess up our bodies..." She then turned to Arthur to address his point. "I'm sure you probably heard me shouting earlier, but I only learned about those Shadow Duels from the museum and an archaeologist being at the beach who knows something about Professor Tenjo's death. Of course, Professor Reinier now has confirmed that this same archaeologist is the one that put on that exhibit in said museum. I'm not sure if you want to hear the full account on this crazy myth though..." she gave a nervous laugh at that, still uneasy about the possible connection between the myth and what she had learned.

{Danielle vs Evan} "Go straight for secret." Zared allowed the Water Pulses to push him into the cage, allowing his hands to touch the steel bars while his jaw took the brunt of the force while he converted the air into his fairy typing move. Once there was enough water on the field, he propelled himself directly towards the Vaporeon once again with the gust. This time, his jaw was open wide, attempting to take a bite of the Vaporeon in order to pull off a Pain Split. -
Not directly. Think of it as a cyclone, but Mawile is controlling it so that it keeps getting wider.

{Classroom} Arial took a long look at the rebel's cards, tilting her head slightly as Lane mentioned the circumstances surrounding their history. It sounded odd, that's for sure; it's kind of like the Shadow Game myth at the museum. What card could make a person lose his mind? And how could a duel feel real? She couldn't recall her Cyber Dragons trying to start a conversation with her whenever she summoned them (as much as she would like them to). {The Sugar Prince} Before she had a chance to address Lane, Arial then felt a light tap from behind before she saw a crumpled piece of paper fall beside her. Scratch that, make that a wrapper, a familiar-looking wrapper at that. While Monika and the rest of the classroom continued their discussion on the investigation squad, Arial picked up the wrapper and threw it back at Ken. "You know, it's not nice to throw stuff at people. Especially if that person is a girl that you like." she teased once she made her way towards Ken. "What's up?"

{Danielle, Jacob, Ryan and Sawsbuck} Corona squealed happily as Ryan petted her. She loved being petted, especially by humans since their body temperature so high. Hugs will always be number one though. She chirped a rough translation of Ryan's account to the Sawsbuck before she crawled into Danielle's arms. Of course, Danielle's hugs are always are better than hugs in general. Danielle chuckled, petting her spoiled firebug. She saw Avis' head shake, but didn't mention it. "Jacob's right. And besides, having a jokester makes life more fun. Take it from me; I have to deal with this Prankster Murkrow every day." Danielle nodded towards Avis, who laughed at the Roselia's offer. Avis also gave a playful wink to the Roselia in return but made no move. I was born at night, not last night. Instead, she began humming a little song that her mother used to sing to her, keeping a watchful eye on the grass types in case something went astray.- 1255 replies

Pokemon Academy Ch. 3: Queued-Up Battles

{Danielle vs. Evan} "Expand the Tornado." Danielle replied, remaining calm despite the uphill climb. While not a great maneuver for the male Pokemon, it was an effective counter for this type of situation. Plus, this looks pretty if used in a contest. Zared sighed to himself as he whipped up the Fairy Wind around him to dislodge most of the icy particles from his body. Thank Arceus his steel body is used to the cold, since metal and all. He knew Avis would have screeched if any of it got on her precious feathers. He then allowed the Fairy Wind to expand around the arena to pick up the water/ice droplets so that it could hit the cage harmlessly. The added benefit (if any) would be to deal some chip damage to the sliding water type as well, but it's not a requirement. Now if only Fairy Wind wasn't pink... Damn, he could feel his manliness drop every time he had to use this trick. -

{Danielle, Jacob, Ryan and Sawsbuck} Danielle nodded, still not comfortable about the sudden rampage. It was only until she heard Corona's chirps and that she felt more at ease. Avis also seemed content in her spot, so Jacob was probably right about the sudden stomping. The Kalosian giggled quietly at Jacob's admiration. She wondered if all boys are this crazy about battling. "I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you ask him. Sawsbuck seems reasonable enough--" Danielle whispered back to her best friend when a Roselia suddenly ran past them. Before she any time to react, a sudden crash from behind almost made her trip over her own Mawile in surprise. Danielle heard her Mawile growl a warning at the unknown presence before he uttered a higher-pitched cry. It's almost as if he was confused. Danielle turned to where Zared was facing and found herself with an embarrassed Ryan. She glanced back and forth between Ryan and the cowering Roselia before she offered a hand up to him, trying not to laugh at the sight. He always seemed to end up on ground every time she saw him. "Hey, Ryan! Nice of you to join us. Were you trying to catch that Roselia or something?" -------------- Corona blinked in surprised, not knowing what to do next. Was that Roselia attacked? But the chaser was Ryan; he is a nice guy, a funny one too. She followed Sawsbuck back to the humans, crawling up to Ryan and chirped a greeting. What was he as red as her fire? Could he breathe fire too? Avis finally took to the air once more and hovered in between the humans and the Pokemon, eager to see what is going to happen next. If Sawsbuck wasn't nearby, she would have chided the grass type for the obvious facade; a competent prankster such as herself could see through that disguise easily. So, instead, she shook her head at the Roselia and left it at that, hoping that the humans (or Zared) would get the message.- 1255 replies

8 Sonnova... >.< *Avis crows happily and gobbled up the ice cream before Vale could see it* And no, she won't ask for more because she has to preserve her weight like the female she is. Actually, how would a bird eat ice cream? ._. Their tongues are not as flexible as a human's...

{Classroom - Investigation Squad formation, Setsuna} Arial blushed in embarrassment as Professor Reinier and Monika called her out on her obnoxious voice. "Bad habit, sorry~" she apologized as she slipped back into her seat, scratching the back of her head. Now she could see why that other student disappeared as soon as the bell rang. But the professor didn't seem disturbed about it at all. In fact, the professor seemed glad that they were so curious about Professor Tenjo's death. Once Anna finished her anecdote, Arial could see why that was the case. 'So Professors Reinier, Tenjo and Ike Johnson were once buddies! No wonder she kept on dropping those random facts at us! Since that's the case, I absolutely must go to the beach today! Not only for Lisa, but for Johnson as well! No doubts about it!' The green-eyed teen then continued to listen quietly to the voices around her as she ate, not willing to make a fool out of herself again, despite the professor's praise. 'So this weirdo samurai was at the school and Klive is a non-binary individual. No wonder I couldn't tell if xyr is a guy or a girl. That clears up all the confusion there.' Finally, she heard Zander suggesting to form an investigation squad to solve Professor Tenjo's death. She's all for the idea, but now there is a debate on who gets to be the leader. After the others finished their statements, Arial finally spoke up in her normal voice. "Hey, count me in on the action too! Although I wouldn't be great as the leader..." she shivered at the thought of her ordering her classmates like soldiers. Arial finally turned to address Setsuna's point. "Since you think Zander wouldn't be suited for the job, who would you recommend? Don't tell me you're going to nominate yourself." she teased as she took another bite of her salad.

{Danielle vs. Evan} "EXCUSE YOU? He is not--" Danielle stopped midway as she saw Zared skating past Triton with his knees buckled in. "Zared, you know what to do." She said more calmly, regaining her focus onto the battle. She can't allow her emotions to overwhelm her. As her mentor once said, once you lose them, you automatically lost the match. This was proven again and again during her time here in Ymora; Jacob, Kristen, and even Mareek! 'Deep breaths Danielle... Deep breaths...' she recited as she looked up at the shower. "So that's what that cage does..." she muttered to herself as the cool water droplets rained down on her skin. Ever since they got back from the trip in the mountains, Danielle has allowed Zared, Avis and Corona to practice on various fields in the training facility and let them roam around in hopes that they can develop some strategies on their own. This was especially important for Zared, Danielle had claimed, since he lived his life inside a cave full of rocks and water and nothing else, which puts him at a disadvantage from the very beginning. He had scoffed at that thought continuously until he found himself on an ice field. Zared remembered that he lost a match to Corona (miserably) because she managed to zip by his attacks every single time! It didn't help that he always fell on his face or his behind either. He had hated the ice with every fiber of his being until he finally saw the firebug's trick. Finally, he got to show off what he has learned since he left the mountains. Although the rain made it more slippery for him to maintain his balance, it also served as a springboard for Zared. This allowed him to propel at speeds he could never muster on solid ground. He used a Fairy Wind to quickly change course and used the pink wind and the momentum (provided by the slippery surface) to speed towards the Vaporeon, his body turned into a metallic gray all the while (Iron Head). -

{Danielle, Jacob and Sawsbuck} Danielle jumped when Sawsbuck suddenly jabbed the ground. It didn't help that he then reared his head at her baby Larvesta with that fierce expression. "Did we say something wrong...? I'm sorry if we did. We only wanted to warn you... Please don't hurt Corona..." Zared tapped his master, reassuring the humans that Sawsbuck wasn't going to do anything with anyone. The Prince just wanted more information from his teammate. Although he will never say it, Zared was actually disappointed that Sawsbuck didn't request the information from the Mawile, himself. He wanted to impress the Sawsbuck so that they could have a friendly match... The Mawile's expression was amusing for the Murkrow to watch. To Avis, he deserved it for being such a suck up. Unlike the Steel type, she wasn't disappointed in the slightest; Avis had already recounted the tale to her species, after all. Since the Sawsbuck was willing to listen to the innocent child (probably because children always spill the beans despite being told not to), Avis gave Corona a gentle push forward and encouraged her to tell their story. The tiny Larvesta attempted to hide behind Avis when Sawsbuck pawed the ground, sputtering out little wisps of fire from her horns. Considering Avis' diminutive 1 foot, 7 inch stature, it was obvious that this wasn’t going to work. She was still considering the Sawsbuck’s request when she felt Avis pushing her forward with some gentle words. The Larvesta looked back nervously at Avis, who only nodded, before turning to Sawsbuck and began recounting what happened with Evan. Corona couldn’t say how he was with other people, if he was with anyone, but he was really mean to her master and Avis. He kept calling them mean names and threatened to tear Avis apart. Whenever her master’s friends tried to calm him down, he would always dismiss them and walk away. Corona soon went on to the prophecy surrounding a Skarmory and a death, linking Evan with the vision because his Skarmory is the only one they know of.- 1255 replies

{Danielle vs Evan} "Sorry, I'm taken. Zared, Bite into Fairy Wind!" Danielle was honestly more disappointed that he didn't lead off with any other Pokemon. Of all the Pokemon he has, Vaporeon is the one that Zared will have the most trouble against. Well, she might as well focus on what her Mawile could do. 'So much for sportsmanship...' she thought bitterly, losing her facade. Zared growled loudly at Evan's rude gesture (Intimidate). It's one thing to be bitter, but another thing to directly disrespect a girl who actually tries to make peace. And Evan wonders why that witch bird glares at him every single damn time! He raised his huge mandible to Bite the orb of water, causing an explosion of smoke. The smoke soon began making it way over to the Vaporeon, propelled by the pink Fairy Wind that Zared was directing. As soon as the smoke was far enough, the Mawile also began to run forward, letting the smoke be his cover as he made his way over there to deliver some punishment for that insult. -
