Taking the RNG out of Pokémon
Raindrop Valkyrie replied to Sylvan Nephilim's topic in Pokémon Fan Club
That is a possibility....But I can understand why Freeze is only ever a 10% chance etc. Mostly since that is the most broken status, and it is good it is pretty much impossible to reliably have it happen. Also I assume with that Change, Serene Grace would have a doubled rate of the chance happening going up. ((Also in DoTA pretty bloody funny when they get a bash first hit, at least to me, since everyone rages so hard when it happens.)) -
I don't remember his age either. And dude, love that song as well. Actually trying to think of a way to sneak Fiddler on the Green in somehow, but still do justice to it. (D&W is so damn good... as well as Blind Guardian etc, glad I started listening to Metal again.) EDIT: checked your paper doll (old D and D term, just using it now incase I slip back at some point, it means character sheet.) and you said he is around 130, but there was no matter of fact number.

"Because I can't? You don't know how simulacrums work.....do you?" The Crimson King said, with a bit of a condescending tone. "Anyway, rather than describe how it works to you ad nausem, I can't attack you with this projection. It doesn't have.... my capabilities of magic so to speak. And this particular version would just phase through you." as he finished that sentence he stuck his hand out towards Xavier as if to strike him. However it passed through him and did nothing. "See?"

Taking the RNG out of Pokémon
Raindrop Valkyrie replied to Sylvan Nephilim's topic in Pokémon Fan Club
You asked what I thought, just giving you feedback on it. And I am not angry or anything. That might not be the most well put together thing and I could have used a better tone. You ideas also don't suck, I can see where you are trying to go. But when it comes to game design I am just pointing out why they won't really work and are a little flawed. I Really appreciate what you are trying to brainstorm, but I kinda like a little bit of randomness. Especially since some of it can be played around in Pokemon. I do agree sometimes that random crit sucks, but crit happens, and you got to roll with the punches. I like that somebody can turn it around for themselves even if it is total luck. The other thing is, I don't really know if the RNG can be "solved" in Pokemon games. It is a bit ingrained in the game at this point and it's mechanics. The Formula would have to be highly played with to achieve something. I am a big believer in, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Really sorry if you thought I was trying to be a jerk or something, I just thought I would give some of my insight since I know a bit about game design (I hope to work in the field one day.), and thought I would just throw my 2 cents out there. I mean you did ask what we think. -
Taking the RNG out of Pokémon
Raindrop Valkyrie replied to Sylvan Nephilim's topic in Pokémon Fan Club
Most of these changes just punish the player for using something else. The Stacks thing is also nonsensical, and really just promotes switching, not to mention most times it is impossible to hit something 10 times with a Flamethrower and not have it die or be such a horrible match-up you shouldn't be sitting there hitting it with it in the first place. Statuses don' really need any change imo. The Cast Time thing is very bad. It makes all the power moves hella bad to use, and makes users of things like Superpower/Close Combat, even more powerful, or broken in some cases. If they are faster than you, it doesn't matter their defenses dropped, not to mention you will most likely be running straight up weaker moves. Also, what about moves like Aqua Tail? That move has 95% accuracy, but it gets no bonuses of any sort. Why should it lower your speed when it is already a poor choice, this just makes things that have to take it for coverage feel even worse about it. Not to mention what would be all the calcs for the percentages? The Critical Hit is calculated during move use. If it showed up at the end of the turn that would say to the player, hey stupid attack next turn. This promotes the player to attack (and is still RNG), but now it punishes you for using a non-attacking move. Basically, oh you didn't attack? Welp too bad no crit for you. Double Team is still broken, in fact, the mini game described still has the same problem and is just as frustrating for the player. (not to mention how bloody hard that would be to program in the random thing and have it display images and keep track of which is the real one, and shuffle it everytime you make a new clone so they don't know where they are still anyway.) Basically, at least to me, these changes make it worse than anything, and are more stuff to just remember. A lot of them unnecessarily punish players as well and therefore none of this solves anything and more or less would add many more problems than the Few RNG like things. -
"Hmm, I can't do that, but tell you what, if you let me come along for a bit I would be happy to show you around the place. My castle is so stuffy sometimes, I mean a guy just wants a night out on the town every now and then, you know?" not waiting for a response he kept yammering. " I can change this projection into a multitude of forms that aren't suspicious as you saw before when I was the box." The Crimson King mused. "So what do you say burly man? I promise, this projection can't hurt you." He said, a smile on his face. "It benefits you and me. You get to know where my place is eventually, and I get some good old fresh air."

Lich are even more powerful undead than Death Knights, and are probably the most powerful undead of all. They are powerful Wizards that created their own unlife for some reason or another. (can't tell you why the Crimson King has right now..) He is only a Lich King because he was an actual King in his living days, not because he is a king of Liches.

"Ah, really? You mortals have the power to match a Lich?" he sneered. "That's grand. I would have killed you all if this was really me, but you know I am too busy with my plans to come see you in person. Sadly, can't cast magic through a Simulacrum. Otherwise I would give you your prize for killing my general already." ((Nero would know what a Simulacrum is, but it is a fabled and extremely powerful Illusion technique.))
-
Oh if that was actually him yea, you would be a burning pile of slag already. One doesn't simply mess with a Lich King.

"You think the Gentleman is in charge?" the Crimson King asked. "You really are a stupid one child. Anyone with with 2 brain cells to rub together could see it is I who runs the show, no matter what he says." he said, laughing like a madman. "And my plans don't concern you, this land will be mine before awful long. But your interesting Fleshling, I will give you that." He snapped his fingers, before clearing his throat.....(which he doesn't have.....yet bothered to do for some reason anyway.) "And who are the rest of your friends? I assume they helped too? Or did this big manly warrior do it all by himself?" he said much in the tone as if he was talking to a child.

Almost as if responding to Akuma's words 2 eyes popped into the skull on the Box. "Now hold on lads." it said as it leaped from Odin's arms. It unfolded quickly, forming a horrid figure. A Skeleton with a Red Skull, wearing following robes of Black Velvet embellished with the same Crimson red as his face. "I have to congratulate you on defeating my most powerful general." the figure said, laughing like a maniac.

The log flew true, and it would have struck the Death Knight if not for his unnatural strength. He Bore all three blades on it, Splitting it in half. One hunk of wood flew to the left, the other to the right. That was when the Death Knight saw Sigurd coming for him. Lucky him his blades where trained forward, but he would quickly need to adjust to take the weight of the attack. That was when he felt another smack to his head as Odin's hammer came crashing down. He flew forward losing his balance, falling directly onto Sigurd's Blades as he charged forward. He collapsed to the ground, and shuttered in pain. "Finally.......I can rest." he muttered painfully. He reached into the sky, with his left arm after dropping his blades. "Conner, I hope I can see you again, hopefully daddy has atoned for his sins." He said. The heros would be sure the Death Knight would be crying if he still could. "I never meant to hurt you......" The Death Knight seemed pathetic all of a sudden, as if he was nothing to ever be afraid of. He left out one last gasp of air, before his body crumpled and lost it's form The armour and the swords turned into a black dust, no longer meant to be in this world. His Skeleton lay there on the battlefield a grim reminder. Orpheaus collapsed to the ground. The lotus on the end of Sunglimmer retracted. "It is over...." "Aye, it is." Odin said. The black satchel however remained. The one the Death Knight had gotten his blades from. Odin walked over to it, and peered inside, his curiosity getting the better of him. All that was at the bottom was a box made of Dogwood. It was finished in a sleek black color, with a Crimson Red Skull adorning the front. It felt sinister, but had a strange allure to it. "Anyone know what this thing is?" "We should check our losses first." Orpheaus said, a slight choke in his voice. He got up and went to check on his friend. Brass lay still, it was hard to tell if he was alive of dead, the wound in his chest looked horrible. Orpheaus placed his hand on his shoulder, and cried. "You can't go yet friend, you have so much to teach me." Orpheaus mumbled, trying to quell the tides from his eyes. Just then a familiar voice was heard. "You.....think I am done yet you g...g...golden bastard? You still haven't made up on your promise to me and I am not d...d...dying until that day comes." muttered an awakening Brass. Since Brass's tunic was torn it was easy to see now how he survived. The medal that Dru had given him he placed over his heart in the pocket of the simple linen tunic he wore. The blow of the sword had been deflected by it, and it protected his heart from being pierced. "I probably look like shit, don't I?" Brass asked chuckling a little to himself.

Graterras is heating up nicely.......Really enjoying the fight so far want to see what more goes down.

"Aye, doesn't sound good either at that." Sinbad said "Any idea what it could be my good man?" Sinbad didn't really need to ask the question, he already assumed it was the worst. Most likely some sort of attack. It troubled his mind that such a thing would be happening in such a peaceful city. But perhaps this was the break Sinbad was looking for, time to be a hero.

PokéNations Matchups Thread - Week Three
Raindrop Valkyrie replied to Rooreeloo's topic in Pokémon Fan Club
P.S this is incase Roo or Equ don't see my message. I can't participate this week. I am much too busy working on stuff and with life things. ((also for a future note, If I am not at the meeting for when the list goes up, just don't put me on. It is safer that way, and I don't mind not participating as much as the others. With what is going on with me right now it will be hard to realistically do that anyway.)) -
Also as an aside, and if it wasn't obvouis, you guys may remember I mentioned Orpheaus defeated a Dragon, the townsfolk say he slew the beast, however he says he defeated it. Why this distinction? Well, you don't need to kill something to "defeat" it. Steele was the Dragon in question. Orpheaus quelled his rage, but that is a story for another time. (Orpheaus may tell it too you after the battle, once he realizes Steele may be dead.)

I would say yes, since it is a bit too much like the Berserker's trance. (kinda), but is more like what is called the Inflamio Cortadum. (In-Flam-io Core-ta-dum) which is especially that, but a high level Cinder Knight technique. ((You will have an opportunity to learn it, but later on, as will Marcus. Every Templar has a power in similar power level to this and I think I outlined them in the OP.))

((keep in mind, all magic that isn't tied to an object is disabled in the Anti-Magic shell around Orpheaus, and since the Death Knight is inside of it you can't use it to fight him. THis is just so you know ahead of time.)) 3 Swords collided with Sigurd's 2. All his forward momentum stopped. The Death Knight stared at him, with his red pin-point eyes. "You Fleshlings don't get it do you? You cannot defeat me." He threw a kick at Sigurd's gut, Knocking him back. Though Sigurd maintained his balance. The Death then threw the Flat Black Longsword towards him, as he rushed forward. He picked up another Longsword from the battlefield as he rushed forward. He took a blow to his side as the Dwarf Father yelled "Dewlock!" once more. It knocked the Death Knight off course, and sent him flying to the left of Sigurd. He Quickly regained his footing. ((Sword is still flying at Sigurd.))

A hard thump rang out around the clearing. followed by a loud shout. "Dewlock!!!!" shouted the dwarf fater as his mace collided with the Death Knight's jaw. A quick flash of light followed the impact and pushed the Death Knight back. He took the time to snap his jaw back in. The blow from the Dwarf-Father knocked it askew. "If I was alive, that would have hurt like hell. Luckily, I am not." the Death Knight remarked. "So another Fleshing joins the fight. Intriguing." "Aye, but no ordinary Fleshling. I am Odin Thunderbrew!!! You shall know my wrath!!!" he shouted as he chucked a Hatchet at the Death Knight's head. The Death Knight easily parried it, knocking it out of the sky. But it left him little time to parry the incoming blow from the hammer. Lucky him he had three arms. Odin grabbed his hatchet while dodging the Death Knight's next blow, and fell back. Now another Warrior had a go. Orpheaus came crashing through. His golden sword cutting through the air. It connected with the Death Knight's swords with such force it actually cracked the generic black longsword he was holding. The Death Knight dropped back. He picked up another sword sticking out of the ground. He was back up to 3 swords, having taken another flat black longsword, and still wielding Nero's Blade, and Steele's Katana.

Bah, Shovel Knight is awesome. Glad I got it now, it is soooo much fun.
