Did...I forget something? Rayne thought to herself there was something she was up to prior to now but she couldn't remember what it was at the moment. There was... oh. The blood. The wounds she sustained. She never took down the soldier in the end before she had to retreat. It was best to not leave any threads loose. Leaving a thread like that, it could cause frays you wouldn't even see coming. It would damage the garment horribly if not taken care of. So, she best take care of the snag before it could possibly do anything of the sort. Move to M18, Curtail the thread. ((attack Soldier 2 with Javelin.)) Canto to O18

Well her and Merric are better at different things. It depends on what you need/Value. Both of them are really solid. ((Merric isn't as squish on the defensive side, however is on res, so you have to babysit him from different threats.)) His AoE is also very strong and he is a pseudo bow user. Nino has more raw immediate power though if you have the characters with the buff skills to support her though. ((as a note the Other two of these are Tharja for Redblade and Odin for Blueblade.)) Blade mages are just powerful single target nukers so they are very solid if you have the support for them. Catria is... probalby the best Spear User at current ((though Effie is super powerful too jsut for different reasons.)) so it's up to whether you want pure offensive power there or FCorrin's mass debuffing. Up to you. Siazo on top fo that... might be overkill? DUnno. It does at least debuff other stats lol. He paris very well with Merric though if his passive if up since AoE buddies. You have basically an AoE compostion of sorts here so I think it's pretty solid with FCorrin, MCorrin to stand about and Obstruct shit so they can't get to your ranged units, and have Saizo and Merric poke at stuff until Merric's super nuke of doom. -

MCorrin is similar to Stahl in some ways as he's a sword unit with the same skills if I recall. He's unmounted and instead of Ruby Sword, he instead has Yato. Yato basically has Darting Blow attached, giving him +4 Speed whenever he initiates an attack. He has Obstruct as well, so he can prevent enemies from passing over squares adjacent to him. He gets access to Dragon Gaze/Fang giving him a reasonable special which adds to his offensive capabilities that Stahl doesn't have. Basically, he's a less specialized Stahl. In short, MCorrin: More generally useful as he can reasonably do damage to all types of units((still should avoid just recklessly running into blues)), has a high chance of doubling on player phase due to darting blow on Yato. Has an offensive Special in Dragon Fang which aids his damage quite a bit whenever it goes off. (9and due to doubling a lot on player phase. it'll be more active than a 4 tCD would seem.)) Stahl: Excels at fighting Green Units ((especially Axe units)) dealing crazy damage to them and taking nothing in return. However struggles a bit against sword users as Gem Weapons are a bit weaker than your general sword when not fighting a green unit, and super struggles against blue units. However, makes up for this by being both Mounted and having Swap, allowing him to switch spaces with an allied unit. This synergies insanely well with Obstruct and probably makes him the best current user of it as it makes protecting allies very easy. As for the above training the 5* MCorrin up would probs be smart since 5*'s tend to be a bit more solid than their 4* counterparts, but up to you. Onward. Nino. Nino is in a class of mage that imo... is freaking disgusting if you give them the right support in units that can buff them. I refer to them as Blade mages or Colourblades. These tomes give the user +1 to it's might for every buff present on the unit when they make an attack. This makes Hone Attack slightly more efficient, Rally Skills stronger etc etc... as it boosts offense on top of what it normally does. Nino is a bit fragile ((but a lot of mages are)) so you have to babysit her against melee units but she is STRONG when given the space to function. Her skills are Flat Resistance bonus which makes her able to stand up to other mages pretty well ((even red mages, though caution should still be exercised.)) Her other one is Hone Attack. Yes... really. As Nino wnats to stand next to other untis that have Hone Attack/Speed or Fort Def/REs anyway, this is a great Sill on her which allows her to buff her allies she is trying to gain buffs from in turn. Needless to say, if you need a Green Mage who's good at nuking stuff((while packing some solid team support too~)), Nino is your girl. I should also mention she works jsut fine without teammates that can buff her Gronnblade as it doesn't lose any might over a regular tome. ((Blade tomes actually have a drawback of making your Special CD go up by 1. However... Nino... doesn't get one. It's weird.)) Oh further, Nino has access to Drawback which can let you pull a Unit back one space. This can be decently handy and has saved one of my units buns quite a few times. it's not the most useful move support skill imo, but it does have it's uses. Henry is an anti-unit gaining advantage on Colourless units with his Raven Tome, and having Green Tomebreaker. He excels at fighting these units. He has somewhat good defense I think... and gains Defiant Defense, giving him a bunch of defense when starting the turn at half hp or lower. This reinforces his colourless WTA and also powers up his Special, Ignis, which deals damage based on his defense. He's a bit specialized but if you need a unit to target Green Mages and Colourless, well you got your guy. if you ahve Male Robin though > over Henry usually. Blue tends to be a bit better than Red coverage ((as red is common you'll have it.)) and Robin I feel does a better job at being a Colourless buster. -

It's the combination of those things. Not just the Ruby Sword. ((it's just the cherry on top of a crappy sundae lel.)) Honestly is more Fury + Brash i dislike the added niche of being a super green killer doesn't help on a unit that is passively taking damage every combat either making it even easier for him to get bopped by a stray lance user. lol. And I know exactly how they work mind you, I jsut don't value strengthening something your' very good at to get weaker at something you're already weak at. Cause you take more damage from units o the oppisite colour too. and Lance User/Blue mage would eat through his health. Like the translation is perfectly 100% fine I know how it works thaaaaank you lol. It's just preference that I don't think it's worth it unless you ahve a good kickback for this skill/weapon type caus eit's a double-edged sword, it can hurt you jsut as much as it helps. So it's a net gain of nothing ((kinda it's not reeeeeeeally, but it's overall effect is neutral.)) So, i think the unit needs something to compensate for this fact. I feel a lot of the units etc with these types of weapon don't really have a lot that makes up for that. Stahl issuper defensive and does have three move, but doesn't have any skills that help with his offensive so agianst other reds and blues, he's at a disadvantage as Gem Weapons are weaker than say... just a flat Silver Sword/SIlverweapon. On top of this, he has flat defense as a skill making him have only 1 skill to work with. And, tbh it's a pretty good utility skill in Obstruct. H'es very good for defending units weak to axes by not allowing them past and forcing them to fight him. He has a specialized role. This ISN'T bad, but he's more team dependent. He excels better when put with things he synergizes with or covers for. But Stahl is hardly something I'd slot on all the teams ever lol. He's specialized. That's not bad, but it comes at it's cost. -

@Sheep I actually don't believe they are trash at all and don't recall having said that. It just pigeon holes the unit into a very specific purpose which is dealing with those type of units while making them much weaker to ones they already were. This isn't persay a bad thing, espcially if you can cover for them, but I like the unit to be able to makeup for it in some way. After all, Azura is one of the best units in the game right now and she has a Sapphire Lance. The reason she's so good though is that not only is she anti-red when there's a BUTTload of red units out there right now ((as they are the most common for arena at the least due to all the sword lords.)), if she comes across units she doesn't want to be fihgitng she can pass her turn. This is why to some extra Olivia is similar. ((Olivia isn't quite as good though as she doesn't have any offensive boosts in her skill sets. She's much more supportive.)) Gem Weapons are like Triangle Adept. They are a trade off. I jsut don't think a lot of units that have the access to these things quite make up for the trade off. ((like personally, I rather dislike Stahl as I've used him but he barely contrbutes in my expereince. But that's cause I have 0 issues with axe units I don't need something tailored for defeating them, cause I have like... so few Blue Units that it's not an issue for me.)) Honestly... if Bartre ((look I'm still nto sure how to spell that and I don't really care LOL.)) had like maybe... Desperation rather than Fury.... that might be legit great. ((since it'd make Brash Assault super solid a a slower unit who aims to be low on HP since it would allow him to hit both his attacks before they can answer back.)) TBH... I don't even think Desp + Brash Assault would be that broken a combo but defs an interesting one for a High Risk, High Reward type unit. -

Or you can create another thread for the OOC. I'd prefer the former since it is less clutter and I will just have to lock this old one anyway.- 20 replies

I'm not sure I agree on the healer thing. 1. The Mounted ones imo are the best for the sheer sake of having movement on your healer is strong. Also, the reason Serra is good is cause will it ups your special counter 1, Serra gains recover which makes her a bit less reliant on Imbue for super heals which makes her free to use Swift Wind Balm without giving up as much for it. She also has HONE ATTACK. She has Hone attack, with a special that gives all of your allies speed. Which makes Hone Attack apply twice by the way. The only place she is lacking is she doesn't have a quality offensive staff with a good debuff. ((Maria's Panic... or really any debuff staff is 7000x times better than Serra's weird... Sol Staff. It's attack power is so ow it can never do damage to gain that anyway.)) Lissa, I personally don't really care for. She's not awful per say but I feel Renewal is kinda... absolutely pointless. Cause if your healer gets attacked.. they are probably super dead unless it's a magic/staff user. Renewal... ain't going to help much. I suppose it's better than nothing and it can make her more self-sufficient so doesn't have to be entirely babysat. But... her special in Kindred Fire Balm... is literally a default skill Serra has if you just stand your units next to her that works every single turn. ((which you want to do anyway cause you... should probably protect your healer lol.)) Also note Units can be better depending on team. Caeda is more meant as a utility unit, she's not supposed to grind through everything. However her skills are good as Darting blow makes her able to basically always double ((so she's kill the hell out of mages who have awful def stats and can approach them with really having to carea dn can deal with axe units and armoured axes)) She pairs well with other fliers by giving them 6 to both defensive stats etc. Like I persoanlly think Barte is straight trash garbage because Fury is just not worth the cost and I don't really think Brash Assault is good either so it's like he has 0 skills. Like, all Brash Assault does is give him an auto follow up at low hp. Which is something I guess but... like it doesn't really help in most situations unless fighting lance units that he won't take a shit ton from and then on top he'll take damage from Fury after every battle ((it can't kill but it's definitely an ability that has ended in my unit dying since it's really easily exploitable and the stats you get for taking 6 damage are 100% not worth. Since the defensive ones don't actually do anything but cause you to take 3 damage to null three damage. Which... means only the offensive ones matter and other skills that give +atk and spd, are better cause they give you more for what is more or less the same Drawback. Really Life and Death exists. It's just straight up better.)) if it's working for you though by all means keep using him XD> This stuff is subjective after all lol. To be honest... he probably does much better with Lissa ((I think she has it.)) that heal that is based on the units missing HP. It probably keeps him on the edge enough to make use of his Fury/Brash Assault Combo. ((note, some units are better in the presence of others with good synergies. Not everything is Hector... who probably works on literally every team cause he's disgustingly busted in every way LOL.)) but you're not really going to convince me past that because honestly... so many other Axe users just do his job better. Ogma is a Brave Sword Unit. Apparently he's fast enough that is doesn't significantly slow him down as far as I heard so he's supped to be a very solid Sword Unit. ((He can apparently proc 4 attacks on a lot of things.)) He has Defiant Atk and Spur Attack, so if under or equal 50% gets a big boost to damage and i you place a unit next to him they can increase their attack. Don't have him though, so not really sure jsut going on word of mouth there. -

Hmm ye, Felicia would take some work ((mine is 3*... actually 4 since i think I rnaked her up to that I forget though LOL.)) and I spent a bunch of resources getitng Olivia up to 4* as well. Hmmm, Saizo is pretty solid he's got a similar thing to FCorrin as he's a mass debuffer ((though for Def and Res rahter than Attack and speed)). Felicia is more of a single target debuff and a nuker every time her Special is off CD. Niles is mostly a mage fighter with his stupidly high resistence but he's not the greatest at anything else. Either way, it's up to you in the end XD. I don't wanna sound too much like I'm like "ugh you're doing it worng do it like this UUUUUUGH" lol. You definitely got a pretty interesting selection of units at your disposal though. -

Note, you can have more than one team. Having back up units is a good idea too to be able to swap to things that are more solid in other situations. ((like say you go into a map thatis FULL of red units... might not be the best idear to bring both Merric and Raven lol. They will get bodied.)) -

@Fabled Asian, no problem. And, she's pretty solid ye. Armourslayer is nice for hitting Axe Armour ((though be careful, Peg Knight's def is typcially low so you need be to be careful of taking a big hit.)) and sometimes Sword Armour if in a pinch. She also gets both Rally Speed to help allies double if she won't be attacking that turn, and she herself gets Darting Blow a sorta self Rally Speed whenever she attacks making her doubles much more likely. Fort Res is a bit... eh but not awful Though, Fortify Fliers is interesting in that's it's a massive +6 def and res soley for fliers. In short, she's certainly interesting and probably worth using to some effect lol. -
Ye, I really enjoy it. I defintiely could tell of the sorta asain princeples in this style as I've seen ones that have a simialr vibe before. I do love this painterly style. It just has... such a unique charm to it. A sorta... quiet optimism. A jsut genuine warmth that is beyond compare to many other styles. It's jsut a delight to look at. Yours feel like such a delight to look at. and lol XD. That's wonderful in it's own way. Her design is quite intriguing and rather interesting. I'm sure it's why many are sorta enamoured with the character. ((I mean she just looks freaking cool if I'm honest XD.)) I 100% get your feeling there though. Something about her is just interesting. XD

Damn... if this is the unfinished stuff... I can only imagine what the finished stuff looks like XD. There's some good in here despite them not being completed. Honestly the third definitely nails that doll look as ya said. ((honestly your artstyle has a very distinct look that kinda captures it well to be frank. It really lends itself to that doll-like look.)) I also love how soft and warm feeling it is. it's got this... wonderful charm to it. Also, while I've never really played Darkstalkers etc... respect points there lol. ((I'm not one that's much for Fighting Games [I say this knowing full well my current avvie is a fighting game character, though I've never played it, and I jsut think the character is great.]as I'm turbo trashtastic at them, but Darkstalkers always had a strange yet really interesting vibe to it so it's cool to see XD>))

Ye sorry XD, I was going to ask that but wasn't sure. Ceph got you covered though. Yes, it only applies when you have prior buffs as it directly flips them. I actually kinda forgot Veronica's tome had that and that's why I was confused. Since the only version I remember is Maria having Panic ((the offensive staff that inflicts it.)) and the reverse version that is Harsh Command. also on above for the Flying unit... I really don't agree. it depends on the Flier entirely. There's quite a few maps where it's SUPER handy to have a flier and bows aren't quite as crazy common as you let on. Many of the fliers suffer from poor def, well the Peg Knights do but FLiers can be quite strong. Catria is a good example as she's one of the strongest units in the game right now. Takumi dooooes put a bit of a damper on them cause Close Counter is horse shit lololol, but that's only really an issue in arena. ((and not everyone has Takumi. I say this... ahving fought a dude who's arena team was 3 Tacomeat's and a healer... so I got meme'd and hard...)) it's case by case. Minerva is actually pretty solid too ((if not a bit high risk high reward due to having Life and Death. Or +5 atk and spd for - 5 Def and Res.)) -

Raindrop Valkyrie replied to Shamitako's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Mega Star Cannon, Anemone Damn, headcanon... ruuuuuuined. Kinda makes the fantasy cuter doe... Anemone was a bit bummed at that. An interesting wrinkle turned not interesting. The clearly best narrative for this situation totally dashed. She wanted to live in the universe that was true. She really couldn't help herself but to wonder about it. It was more interesting than the reality. It was such a good love story. A Mech user and a magic user. AHHH! She sighed though, letting her disappoint loose into the world. It always felt good to release it, rather than let it well up. She moved on from the thought though. "That is rather sound. Hard for one to trust somebody who's been intentionally hiding from you. Tends to start things off on a bad foot. Best to make the first move in a situation such as that. Though, initiative... not my forte. I prefer to react, can't always though I guess." it was rather true. She wasn't the best at making the first move in anything. She preferred to have information, some grasp of the situation before blindly doing something. She preferred for the other person to act first and then react to that, than to start things herself. She wasn't much of a mover or a shaker. ((much preferred to watch other things shake.)). She never really thought of it as a bad thing though. It was who she was. She preferred to observe. It's a lot easier to deal with people if learn first, talk second. Though... she wasn't sure many saw it her way. Honestly... she wondered if anyone really cared she existed. Often she was left to do just what she always had been, observe. Rarely did anyone seek her out. She felt like she... was invisible at times. She wasn't... invisibility was a myth, it didn't even work magically. But she couldn't help but feel... lonely. She tried to push the subject from her mind by furthering her inquiry. Seemed to always work. "I imagine, there's a reason for that. If magic and mechs can coexist separately... what is the danger of them being merged? There must be some reason if you oppose it so highly." -

Mega Star Cannon, Anemone. Anemone felt her stomach lurch... or she thought she did. She wasn't really sure what she was feeling at the moment. But, this? How... it was terrible surely. How could someone do this to somebody. There was certain bounds one didn't cross. She wanted to put this to the back of her mind though, so she buried it. She was sure the others were more or less on her side in this. So, there wasn't any point dwelling. If she kept being in this type of mood, the others would surely figure out something was amiss. "Lovers huh? That'd be quite the conundrum wouldn't it? Though they can't seem to stand eac...bad break up? Ex-loverers?" I shouldn't be this excited about this. Anemone was now having... much different thoughts. Her ponytail stood up at attention ever so slightly. She rocked back and forth on her feet, her shoes squeaking ever so slightly. Her face had a small cute grin on it. Innocent... as if the things on her mind were just your average everyday thought. To be honest... they probably were to some degree. -

[IC] TFW Chapter 1: Sloth

Mega Star Cannon, Anemone. It was strange, Merlin not knowing something. It was strange, this being a place she seemingly knew nothing about, or she jsut want's giving the full story. Anemone didn't really know to be honest. She found it quite overwhelming to some degree. If it held any clue to what this facility was though perhaps it was important that someone looked. "What if it does involve magic? There's nothing saying that it doesn't. I'd be more confident in knowing if this whole blasted facility wasn't covered in magical residue." She felt like she should figure out more, but also, wasn't sure if this was some ind of trap... ruse... something. It was rater off-putting. Anemone swallowed, trying to push down the bubbling emotion. It worked as it always had. But she still felt uneasy from all of this. She looked over at the woman who entered the room. She wasn't sure who this was still... or her relation to Merlin. "I don't know to be honest. I'll have to concentrate to see if I can see anything. My truesight... is having a lot of overload from the ambient magic residue. It's a lot to filter out." Anemone went over to the machine, making sure there wasn't any strong magical signatures before interacting with it. She then, would leaf through it, seeing if there was anything of importance, any data or logs on this facility. What this place was... who this boy might be. Anything really. Anything she could find at all. -

Mega Star Cannon, Anemone. Spark, so a mage. Anemone would have continued her inquiry, but it seemed, unwise. Clearly asking hadn't been a smart plan, or perhaps, whatever it was that Merlin was feeling at the moment, wasn't really entirely brought on by the questions. Anemone bit her lip, not knowing whether she should ask more questions... or be silent. She wasn't really sure what to do in this situation. But the sight in that room also... it... wasn't helping. There were so many questions now running through her head, most of them seemed like traps if she brought them up now. "Merlin..." she barely managed to speak, nearly having to force the name from her lips. "What's going on here?" everything about Anemone seemingly shrunk. She was clearly upset, clearly startled by what was happening. Her ponytail reflected it, hanging low unlike how it had been this entire time. She, couldn't stop staring at the boy. She didn't want to but, but she found it impossible to pry her eyes away. -

@Sheep, no you are pretty on point. the 3* > 4* is usually of much higher impact than 4* to 5*, the key differences being... Character that gain a personal weapon from 4 to 5, Brave Weapon Users. ((Brave Weapon + get a SUPER boost in power imo from 4* to 5*... and honestly, I think Brave Units are only really good once they hit 5* personally, least they are a lot more usable.)), and some Killer Weapon users depending on if they get the second rank of their special in their 4* or 5*. Either way, you can have upped 10 3* for the same price you could up 1 4* to a 5* so it's much better for your roster to focus on getting 3*'s up to do so. Typically, from 3* to 4*, one of their skills will be able to go all the way to full rank. It depends on the unit I suppose, but I'd say most get the biggest bang for their buck from 3 > 4 unless the above. I'll note, there is merit too using more units of a single type than a single one. I have both Nino and Merric, but am planning on leveling Merric some more. Why? Because Merric is more self-sufficient in ways then Nino is. ((he's bulkier so doesn't need to be babysat quite as hard and he fits in team comps without Hone/Rally skills a smidgen better.)) so long as they have enough of a distinct niche from the other unit it's perfectly acceptable and probably rather wise to have more options. -

Ye... Lyn kinda... esploded her for me. Like she was GAWN. Xander got tanked by Fredrick and basically stalled until Lyn could run her butt over to him and punch him upside the jaw. With Nino basically jsut picking off the rest of stuff that was in reach more or less. Was using Serra at the time as well. ((who I may 4* and use over Sakura. Her Hone Attack + Swift Wind balm seems like a nasty and deadly combo, espcially in conjunction with my units like Nino, Robin [who really appreciates the speed], Lyn, and Fred boy. She definitely really pumps up my team a lot and as I have more offensive based units, I think having her over the more defensive Sakura do me wonders. Sakura is defs still worth keeping about though if I get a more def focused team boppin' about.)) -

He seems to be basically, another Valter. Just some pompous Wyvern Lord arsehole lol. ((tehcinally Valter is later in the series as he is SS, but Iplay Sacred Stones first so... there's that.)) @Maelstrom, definitely haven't seen Nino then. Due to Gronnblade... she is freaking disgusting and with enough buffs, consistently can do around 28 to 35ish on a double. ___Blade mages are super strong in any comp that has Hone/Rally skills as you can stack their offenses to disgusting levels. And Blade tomes have no drawbacks over the same tome of their own level other than +1 CD which honestly... really doesn't matter that much in the long run. ((the others are Tharja for red, and Odin for Blue as a note.)) Honestly that's kinda why I let Cecilia go... cause I didn't really feel like training her as I already have 2 green mages that are 4* and work better for me tbh. If I roll her... so be it XD> As for the Chapter 9-5 question up above, the main way to beat it is to be able to take out Veronica rather quickly by baiting her into your stuffs ranges but not letting her get counters in. Any ranged unit ((short of shit like Takumi)) have the fact you can hit them without procc'ing a Counter attack. Any decently leveled Sword unit will do a number on her. ((like really any that can smack her hard will work.)) and if she's left with a little bit use a ranged unit to pick her off. Xander is also a bit of a pain in the arse, so having a Blue Unit ((especially magic based)) tends to be the best way to dislodge him, but really any thing that can at least somewhat stand toe to toe with him will be helpful in the extreme. ((Peg Knights if you got one get a special mention as if you don't have anything magic, they can at least inflict quite a bit while their high res at least helps them not die entirely to Veronica if things go bleh. It's mostly just manipulting them to come into your ranges to deal with them. Veronica and Xander are bay far the threats on the map and if you can get them you should probably be able to grind through the rest of the, pretty effectively. -

Mega Star Cannon, Anemone. "Huh... you two are strange." Anemone added following after the two. Amelia didn't really interest her much on the body front. She wasn't exactly Anemone's cup of tea. She also figured she'd not have the time to weave a "Peak peek", "Hehe, better name acquired.~" spell anyway, so it wasn't worth invested much thought in regardless. She doubted she often see her around. She'd be able to sleep at night leaving these sweater beasts be unknown entities. They weren't much more than mere mosquito bites as far as Anemone could tell... so really... was it a loss? If your were Anemone... na. Luckily, Anemone... just so happens, to be Anemone. Anemone smacked the butt of her extendo-staff deftly on the ground. It was a precise movement, one she had done before, and it took a lot of working knowledge with the implement to do it that swiftly and effectively. It collapsed the kaleidoscoping foci back to its portable form in but an instant. She slipped it back into the pouch of her hoodie, hoping she'd not be in dire need of it again. A lot of hope given the situation at hand. "So... Merlin. Do you know something about those... remote casting thingermadoohickies that Feardogchop... or whatever his silly name was got caught in? I've never seen magic like it before, I'm only familiar with things that come from another caster so it was a strange thing to witness. I only saw the magic flair up as if someone was casting it, but prior, I didn't see anything with my vision. It must've been the interference, there's a lot of magical residue. While it doesn't really effect me too much with magic I'm familiar with, perhaps this new type didn't jump out to me due to being an unknown." Anemone let her index finger absentmindedly drift to her chin as she tilted her head in an inquisitive manner. She was thinking outwardly, therefore this was the first time she looked actively engaged in the goings on. She was running through yet more ideas in here head evn though she'd didn't have much to wrap around the subject. Her wheels were turning, faster and faster intrigued by the new form of magic she'd never seen before. It was so exciting! Something new to observe.
