  1. Aimi sighed at the group starting to bicker, but refrained from commenting as it sorted itself out. Honestly. She was just following a program, it wasn't like the circle introduction was even her idea. "Alright, that's everyone, right? Next on the list is a campus tour, which ends in the cafeteria for those of you that are going to get hungry. We won't go into every single building - mostly because some of them actually change around internally sometimes and I don't want to spend three hours in the alchemy labs again - but we'll cover the places where most of your first classes should be, as well as the important offices on campus. We'll start with the Burntwick Tower for Witchcraft, Sorcery, and Wizardry, or just the Tower for most people. That's where most of the magic classes are, though a couple of the bigger branches have their own buildings." She gestured for everyone to stand up with her. "Same rules apply as before: if you don't know what it is, don't touch it. There shouldn't be anything in the tower that can kill you unless you try really hard, but sometimes the profs get lazy." The tower itself was fairly difficult to mistake, as it, well, towered over the rest of the campus, bar another castle-like structure standing across the campus that, while somewhat shorter, was quite a bit more imposing. The Tower was composed of a grayish brick, smoother than one might expect and festooned with protrusions, including one where the architect had appeared to take the term "wing" literally in a swept-up structure. Each of these had its own pointed roof of a blue slate. The shinigami led them to the door before turning to face the group. "Any questions before we head inside?"
  2. "I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere." Hoshiko grumbled under her breath as she plodded through the deep sand. It was like trying to walk across a snowbank, except they never held under your weight and it just filled up your everything instead of melting. L9 after Terrin moves
  3. "Alright, guys and girls and everyone else, turn in those papers to me." The girl waited for a moment for the group to pass in their various papers, and collected them into a stack. "So what we're going to do next is the obligatory 'go around the circle and introduce yourselves' thing. Just tell everyone your name, your preferred pronouns, your species, and one thing about yourself. I'll start, but don't mind me if I'm not paying all of my attention to you guys; I've gotta organize a list." "I'm Aimi Fujiwara, I use she/her/hers pronouns, I'm a shinigami, and I'm one of the swim team captains here." After introducing herself, she pulled out another paper, and began to write notes down while ruffling through the stack she'd just acquired.
  4. Battle conditions kept changing and changing. She wasn't used to it, it made her nervous. Still, there was an enemy in front of her, and she had Tempest to protect. That was a weird feeling. She'd been fighting for the sake of itself, just to prove that she could do it, and that she was better than anyone else at it. Now she actually had a goal. . . She blasted her jets backward, the mech groaning forward as it slowly accelerated towards its top speed. Punish (Aggression) on Kracko
  5. "What's that supposed ta mean. . . ? These people, I swear, I'm never gonna get a inch a' respect from 'em. . ." She shook her head at the boy's comment. The wyvern, for his part, licked Karik's face once, and then tilted his head slightly for Karik's hand. "I got Ecquis here while I was on a mission to the Equinox Isles. 'S a bit of a long story and I already told it once today." She undid one final belt on the wyvern and slid the saddle, bags, weapons, and all, off onto the deck with a clattering thump. "There ya go. Naked wyvern."
  6. "Ecquis here's actually a wyvern, not a dragon. I know people like ta call 'em both dragons but there's lots of differences. For one, he ain't much of a conversationalist. Anyway, I'm just checkin' him to make sure he got outta the last battle okay. He can't exactly tell us if he's got a hole poked in him or somethin'. Also takin' his saddle off." "Now hold still, you useless goddamn ball of scales. No, no, don't put your wing down. . ." No injuries seemed to be in evidence as the wyvern settled downward, evidently tiring of his rider's ministrations.
  7. "I don't think the goddess cares all that much about what I wear or what I say when I'm sendin' bad guys to meet her. Or any other times, for that matter, 's long as I'm actin' mostly okay."
  8. Myrdwyn burst out laughing. "Delicate? Oh man, that's too much. Listen, last time anyone called me "delicate" I was six years old and I'm pretty sure I might have punched him in the crotch. Not that I was aimin' for it, mind you, I was just a kid with bad aim." "Anyway, Miss Princess, it's not very ladylike to beat people over the head with staves regardless of them commentin' on your rear or not. How d'ya explain that one?"
  9. "Hey, hey, calm down, I'm just messin' with ya! 'The likes of you,' geez, what's a girl gotta do to get a little respect around here. I risked my ass to fly here through storms and shit, I can't even throw out a little comment on yours?" She wards her face with raised arms, the staff clonking against her bracers.
  10. The whack doesn't seem to faze the wyvern rider in the slightest. "Well, how was I suppos'ta know? Ya didn't deny it at the time." ". . ." "It's not a bad butt, either. Nothin' to be ashamed of."
  11. Laver might discover a sleeping Masaru, draped across a bed frame and looking somewhat uncomfortable due to the mattress being absent.
  12. The massive iron gates creaked open - outward, actually, though fortunately a gentle but very insistent magical force slid them back out of the path of the mass of iron. It revealed a group of about fifteen folder-toting individuals, ranging from decidedly mundane-looking people who were presumably mages of some variety to somewhat more exotic anthropomorphic spirits to what appeared to be an unholy hybrid between a human skeleton and a wheel; a skeleton body with a bony wheel oriented along the direction of motion, complete with sinister spikes. This particular individual was wearing a stereotypical anime school uniform, complete with too-short skirt and a set of purple pigtails glued to their skull. Each person's folder was also marked with a number; the one marked with a twelve was rather more palatable. A well-endowed girl in a very light - nearly white - pink dress with a blue vest overtop waves her folder toward the group that had already gathered. She also has pigtails, though more reasonably proportioned and of a red-pink color, matching her eyes. "Oh, hey, good to see you're all in a group already. Saves me the work." She flipped open her folder and passed out a few sheets. "Alright, first thing's first. I want to officially welcome you guys to Aurora University. Don't worry about the whole masquarade thing by the way, the President put up a temporary ward to keep all the mortals out of here. We've got all sorts of staff on hand to deal with magical emergencies and all that, and if you've got any special dietary requirements or what have you and you didn't fill them out on your registration, we'll pass the health office on the tour. These sheets are just a way for me to figure out how to direct all the discussion; they're just some information about your name, preferred pronouns, planned major, and what's on your schedule. If you'll just follow me over here, I've got pens and stuff to give you to fill it out with." She waited for the group to gather around her a bit more, and then walked into the campus. There was a briefly uncomfortable feeling as you crossed the border into the campus; the world seemed to stretch a bit; afterward, the buildings inside definitely looked more like what you'd expect from a magical campus, with architecture that looked like it came from twenty different time periods, complete with a classic wizard's tower, pointy roof and all. The pink-haired girl led you to an odd sort of circular stone bench; the seats faced inward, with a slot on one side to allow one to actually get in and out. On the outer ring was what looked like an alchemical garden. "Don't touch the plants, by the way. Some of them bite, and I really don't feel like escorting you to the afterlife today." Pick 3-5 classes. Coordinate with the other players on Discord to get a good mixture of shared classes.
  13. Soon enough, the group as a whole finishes whatever errands they had outdoors. The castle rumbles as one of them starts the ancient machine back up, and it pulls away from the dock at Val Habar - leaving a rather large impression of itself in the sand - before vanishing a distance from the town, headed to another world. Val Habar and the Terrible Tigrex - Concluded. Please proceed to the Travel Phase. For those unfamiliar with the rules, for every Travel Phase you will pick one of six locations for your character(s) to stay for the duration of the travel. Post your entry into the area in the appropriate IC thread, and do not post elsewhere IC until the travel phase ends. The Ballroom (on-ship) The Barracks (on-ship) The Suites (on-ship) Engineering Bay (on-ship) Servant's Quarters (on-ship) Throne Hall (on-ship)
  14. "Be careful back there, the Knight is sensitive with this much hull damage." Warning lights were blazing all across her HUD; no critical system failures as of now, but the plasma was barely in containment at the moment. "I-I'm using an ability that will make it dangerous to be close, get out of the way before it starts up." The Mantle system was already firing up, the field spinning up into action as the small jets nestled throughout her armor sputtered with angry flames.
  15. "Yeah. Don't miss 'em at all. You're not gonna get me into the air any more without real pants. And speakin' of pants and other butt-coverings. . . " "This is gonna sound dumb as hell, but does that healer's ass actually sparkle? She turned way redder 'n I thought she was gonna at that comment. I dunno much about healin' magic, so. . ."
  16. "Oh man, it's gotta be, what. . . Ten years now? Or thereabouts. Depends if ya count training or not. The scaly bastard came into the picture on my first assignment." She paused for a moment. "Lemme straighten out the details in my head. . ." "They sent me up to the Equinox Isles on a scouting mission. I was still in training at the time; was all done with the foot combat stuff, but I was tryin' ta get into the flying corps. Went up there attached to a squad of sky knights; the leader was this older guy, just as good with a healing staff as he was with his claymore. There was also this cartographer, who sorta smelled like a mix between mildew and sadness; he had his own set a' guards with him, since he came after us in a boat." "I, uh, was havin' trouble with my pegasus. The picky little shit didn't want to do anything I said once we actually got to explorin'; pretty sure he was just following the other ones while we were in a group." "I eventually ended up settin' down in a field to sort him out. Well, apparently he had an issue with what I was tryin' ta tell 'im, 'cause he threw a hoof at me and flew off. Wandered around lost for a while since the place looked so different from the ground. Thought I was gonna die, to be totally honest, especially when I almost walked on a giant flyin' lizard and the goddamn pegasus had my lance. Instead of eatin' me though, he just sorta licked my face and then sat on me 'til I cleared my head." "Dunno where he came from or where he was going, but he seemed to like me well enough. After another hour or so of wanderin' around with him, the rest of the squad spotted me and hauled me back. He followed me back home and everything; had to stop the bowman from putting an arrow in his head when we landed, though. That's pretty much where the interestin' part ends. We got Ecquis trained up to fly right, and they kitted me up with some more armor 'cause he can carry more than those sissy horses. Good riddance to that uniform, too; have you seen the shit some of those pegasus knights wear?"
  17. Mitsurugi holds the bundle of flowers up and slightly toward Ritsu. "Are these satisfactory?"
  18. The goddess sighs. It was good to be among nature again, unfamiliar and sometimes twisted as it was. She took her time with the flower gathering, making an honest attempt to enjoy herself for once. It had been so long. . . It was hard to remember. Many things were hard to remember. She had no idea how long she'd drifted; it could have been an instant, suffocating in that void, or it could have been years. But that didn't matter at the moment. Ritsu needed these flowers, and continuing down this path of thought would lead nowhere good. The goddess headed back in the direction of the town, flowers in arms.
  19. The explosion startled Myrdwyn a bit; she hadn't expected something like that, to say the least. Didn't that mean Cadence was actually an incredibly powerful mage? After all, she was also manipulating the spirits - to an extent - without the assistance of a tome, something that only the greatest mages were supposed to be able to do. Her musings were cut off, however, by the woman's inquiry. "Nah, I'm not that much of a pain in the ass. When you guys dropped off the face of the earth, they had ta find ya quickly. One flier can move faster than a ship, and Ecquis over there can carry a lot more than some fancy winged horse in case ya got yourselves into a lot of shit. Plus wind doesn't knock him around near as much." Her expression turned distinctly sour for a moment at the mention of pegasi, but as she continued it returned to her normal cheeriness. "That and I ain't exactly a pushover in a fight, if I may say so myself."
  20. Mitsurugi, meanwhile, moves to gather several varieties of flowers from the nearby fields and forests.
