"Oh yeah, anima spirits. The uh, academy people said I could have learned to talk to 'em and stuff, but the whole magic thing was never really my deal. Too. . . I dunno. Floofy. Didn't feel like fightin', and I've never really been a book person. 'S cool though, and I respect the amount 'a work that goes into it." She idly held one gauntleted finger up toward one of the hummingbirds.

Ecquis abruptly gave Belros a lick. It was an odd sensation, having equal parts dog and cat in it along with a strange quality unique to a wyvern's tongue. After doing so, he promptly plopped his head down in Belros's lap. "Aw. And here I was hopin' to adopt ya as my new drinkin' buddy. Ah well, we'll find some way for ya to relax." She reached out and retrieved the rum from Cade's hand, assuming the woman didn't stop her, and stuffed it back into the pillow. "What do ya do for fun, anyway? Other than stickin' people with swords and lightin' stuff on fire, of course."

"I can gather the flowers, but I have not the tools needed to fell and move trees efficiently." Not completely true; the goddess did have a way to shake down trees. However, said method was a windstorm that would likely wreak havoc upon the neighboring village. Regardless of how many times she had been accused of doing such things, such a thing was entirely against her morals.

OOC THREAD DO NOT POST HERE UNLESS YOUR CHARACTER IS IN THE ACCEPTED CHARACTERS LIST * * * It's finally the big day. Things have been packed, parents/guardians/suspicious government agents waved off, reattached, pried off again, and now you're at the gate, at 8AM on this bright, sunny day. A bit weird for a university to have a wall and a gate, yes, but this wasn't most universities. Aurora University, founded only five years ago, and catering to a unique subsection of the population, to say the least. The walls, at least from this side, are a pristine, almost white stone brick, still unweathered. You think you can see some buildings over it, but it's almost like the air is fuzzy or something - plus the wall's a good ten feet tall. The gate's equally impressive, rising a good four feet above the wall itself and made entirely of wrought iron. The schedule they sent you said to wait outside the gate, and meet up with the rest of the members of your group; that way, once the group leaders showed up, they didn't need to waste time herding cats. You're all part of group twelve. There's still a bit of time before the leaders show up to start orientation properly, so you should probably find the rest of the group in the crowd gathered around.

"That's the spirit! Ya got this far, and yer making somethin' out of yer life. Just worry about what you gotta do and stop freakin' out about everything, alright?" Myrdwyn clapped one hand on the girl's shoulder. "Leave some of the worryin' to Madante. Ya got enough for yourself. I'll tell ya one thing, though, I'm gonna be upset if you don't drink any a' that. I packed it for a special occasion."

The wyvern made that low grumbling sound again and tilted his head a bit to get Belros's hand into the optimum scritching position. His wings stretched out to their full length for a moment before slowly folding back in. After a moment or two, he shuffled forward, nudging Belros again, and started to settle down to the ground, tail swinging around to circle around Belros.

Cadence would soon find something cool and smooth pressed into her off hand. "Shhhh. Now, I know what yer about ta' tell me, but just lemme talk for a second. Couple things I wanna say. "Ya gotta relax a bit. Okay? This is what we do for a livin', if ya keep tearin yer hair out over it like this your heart's gonna explode before ya hit thirty. And nobody's ever helped nobody with an exploded heart. So that's why you an' me are gonna break the rules a lil' and split this bottle 'a rum. I packed it special." The bag she'd carried over, on closer inspection, appeared to be a pillow that'd been cut open some time ago - it looked old, but most of the stuffing was still inside. There was a distinct bottle-shaped impression in it at the moment. "I get why yer upset. I really do. As much as I love a good battle, people dyin' is never a good thing. Well, almost never. But it's somethin' that happens, and it's a thing ya signed up to see. So ya gotta stop runnin' yerself - and everyone around ya - ragged over this stuff."

Belros's request was met as the rider swooped in toward the group, her wyvern flapping his wings hard to soften his landing. The wind buffeted the group as the Wyvern landed gently, setting the spy down almost tenderly. Myrdwyn unstrapped herself from the saddle and slid off the side of her beast. She gave Ecquis a scratch or three in a spot underneath his jaw, before looking around a bit. After locating a target, she quickly grabbed a sack off of the wyvern's back and hied off toward the river. Ecquis made a sort of low rumbling noise at Belros and nudged him with his snout - not particularly hard, but probably enough to push him a bit. "Ey, you with the coat! Uh, Cadence! What're ya doin' all the way over there?"
-
"Alright, true love is saved! Now ta show these fools what Myrdwyn Callaghan is. . ." "Wait. There was somethin' I was supposed to do first. . ." "What was it. . . Oh." "Ey, thief boy! Heads up!" Ecquis swooped down toward Belros and unceremoniously grabbed him with his talons in a manner not dissimilar to the way a hawk descends on a mouse - though this resulted in significantly fewer holes being poked in the man as opposed to the rodent. K4, rescue Belros, K8

Mitsurugi frowns silently at Ritsu for a few moments. She wanted assistance with. . . beekeeping? These creatures didn't seem like things to be kept as pets. Most would say they were a dangerous pest, generously. But then, she was friends with - had been friends with - several youkai described in nearly that exact fashion. Her expression was unreadable as she finally replied. "Very well. I shall."

Masaru followed the woman curiously, listening to her song once again. She was one of the more adept bards he'd seen in his lifetime, and didn't seem to fall into quite the same failings they tended to. He suppressed a chuckle when he heard her fall onto the bed, instead opting to walk in and double-check that she was okay. He very quickly checked her breathing and her pulse, and after determining that she hadn't just expended the last vestige of her soul in order to obtain a feather mattress, let his chuckle out, and then proceeded back to the previous room should nothing stop him.
-
"Huh." He couldn't say he'd ever seen that kind of magic before, which wasn't to say it was impossible. "Well, if you can do that trick again, there's a room just down the hall with a busted-up frame a lot like that one. Hell, I think I saw some mattress scraps on it, too." Masaru gestured out of the door and down the hall, where another door stood slightly open.
-
"I feel the same. I'm not sure that you'll find much, though; all of the rooms I've checked so far have been stripped bare, or close enough that it doesn't matter." He shrugged. "Something about the adventuring life, I think. Can't sleep in these little boxes of rooms - and besides, if no one's using them . . ." He leaned over, and pushed open the nearest door. Sure enough, the creak of the ancient wood only announced disappointment in the form of another dusty, cobweb-strewn room. This one had a bed frame, if something that looked like it'd been smashed apart a century ago qualified as one any more. "I can't say I wasn't expecting that."

"Yamaguchi Masaru. Unfortunately, I'm not quite well known enough to have some kind of title that people refer to me by, but my name is enough." Ghost. The name could mean any number of things. It could be that she was simply stealthy, or adept at some kind of invisibility magic. It could also mean that she was a sign of death - though if that were the case, he doubted she'd call herself such. "What's got you back in this corner of the castle, anyway?"
-
Masaru scoffed. "I don't think that man is physically capable of 'lurking.' Suffice to say that if you happen to run into the one named Andre, steer clear of him. He's the kind that's only ever interested in a fight, and nothing else, including whether he just killed the person he was brawling with." His face showed his distaste clearly, if his words didn't already do the job. "Though I believe he'll refrain from violence until he taunts you into swinging first."
-
Noble's Quarters Masaru stalked through the halls, silently fuming, having retrieved his weapon and walked off earlier. He'd suffered insults to both his heritage and his fighting abilities, not to mention being beaten half to death. Not to mention the very real threat the man posed; that was a full force attack on someone who'd set their weapon down, and a supposed teammate to boot. Andre couldn't be trusted; he'd seen the type before. Living for the next fight and nothing else. Who knew what would happen when he got bored? Still, he wasn't so low as to murder the man. Kill him in defense of his own life or another, yes, but that was the last thing on the list of solutions. His thoughts were cut short as he encountered someone else, presumably there for the same reason he'd come in this direction; looking for a rather more grandiose room than the boxes they'd put the servants in. "Oh. Hello there. I apologize for my glower, I've. . . encountered something unpleasant. To say the least. Am I right to assume you're another new arrival?"

Cool Girl: No. I'll tell you the same thing I told Divergent via PM; stop trying to be the protagonist. This is a game about a bunch of kids that happen to be magic going to college and dealing with all of the associated troubles, not about the hero going on his epic journey. The background is just way too much - and no, you're not allowed to carry a gun around campus. Plus you reference things like "exorcist powers" which uh, aren't a thing? Powder Miner: Discussed already and accepted. Cinder: Remove the "accidentally murderating" people, or at least tone it down so you won't horribly maim people randomly. Elsewise, looks okay. Pigeon: . . . Um. You don't really get to just show up at a university and go to classes. You need an actual reason to be there. Elf: Idunn looks okay to me. kj: No issues.

Hokay, sheet notes incoming for the ones that have been submitted thus far. As a note, spoiler tagging them will make it a lot easier to navigate the thread. kj1225: Muggles are a veto. Mad science isn't magic. It's a supernatural academy, man. Felix: Looks ok to me. Fashion is a bit odd of a choice, but not an unacceptable one. Mr. Divergent: . . . Hooookay, where do we start. First off, the appearance section is a little odd. Black eyes aren't really a color, unless you mean to say his irises are black, which is, uh, unusual. A "colorful" face is also a bit odd; is his face multicolored or something? Onto the personality. This is basically a mess of contradictions. He's an arrogant dick, but also a ladies man. Except he doesn't like them, but they like him regardless of how much of an ass he is? He's cold, but easily flustered, and nice to people. I can't really get an image of the way this guy acts at all. Backstory is also strange and contradictory. His parents wanted to live a mundane life but also surrounded their kid with all sorts of magical tutors but also didn't ever let him do anything until he. . . asked them nicely? It also highlights him as rather too "special" and comes off as Sue-ish. (There are pinned topics about what Mary Sues are.) My final advice: pick a direction with the character. Start with one or two basic ideas of what you want to do, and build around those. Right now, you're all over the place with the character, and it comes off as really incoherent. IntSys: Looks alright. Backstory is a little much but not egregiously so. Cronos5010: Looks ok, but I'd honestly rather see a character that isn't sociopathic out of you. Sl4cker: Backstory justification is slightly weak when it comes to justifying why he's at Aurora. Otherwise looks okay.

"Hmph. I won't attack him, if that's what you're concerned about. But that man is not only crude and belligerent; he poses a risk to us all if he's willing to do this to a supposed ally." He inclines his head toward Laver. "He wasn't crippled, but I at least did a number on him. Lightning burns, no shirt, obnoxious attitude?" He glances back at Navin. "I'm avoiding him, so don't worry. I'm not going to hunt him down - though I wouldn't exactly be adverse to dumping him here."
