"Mostly the same thing that your world seems to use machines and labor for. The difference being, one geomage can do the work of a hundred men in the same amount of time - not that said amount is all that much." He nodded at her comment about the terrain. "Most of the world is covered in forests and mountains, yes. Cities don't expand very fast, especially since there are still things like warbands and magical beasts to worry about. Not to mention what happens if a dragon gets it into his head that a city needs to be wiped off the map, though I've only heard of that in distant whispers and legends."
-
Masaru went increasingly wide-eyed at Liliya's description of her homeworld. "A million? The largest city I've ever heard of had two hundred thousand people, and I can barely imagine what a city that size would be like. And you made space for this without a drop of magic. . . That's impressive, to say the least." He thought for a moment, the expression of surprise fading slightly. "My hometown had twenty thousand people living in it, and it's one of the largest in the region."

"Ukraine? Never heard of it, but I suppose that's to be expected if we're from different worlds. And yes, magic exists where I am from." She'd probably be able to note that Masaru was also a possessor of supernatural ability, judging by the weapon he still carried with him that appeared to weigh over twice as much as she did. "So what's your world like, then, if there's no magic? I'd think it'd be hard to build bigger settlements without terraforming magic."

A few things occurred to me over the past few days. 1. Most of the extant RPs here are closed. 2. The one RP that is completely open currently is very mechanics-heavy and can be somewhat daunting. 3. We've never actually had the standard "magical high school/academy/college/night class/etc" roleplay. Basically, I'd like to know if anyone would be interested in a sort of "supernatural college" sort of game. It'd be pretty light and intended for beginning roleplayers, with no real mechanics and a focus on character interactions rather than driving forward the plot (which may or may not actually exist.) GMs and moderators would be mostly responsible for breaking stuff up when interactions stagnate and resolving player disputes if any come up. As for the setting of the game itself, it'd be some sort of magic university - or high school, depending on what people want, but the former gives some more freedom. Characters would be supernatural creatures, magicians, and the like who might not fit into a mundane school or just want to hone their arcane knowledge or kiss an elf or whatever. There wouldn't be a lot of restrictions on who and what you could play. Anyone game?

"It's, uh, a country." Masaru was as confused as Liliya about what the orc had just done. Rightly, that should have been impossible. . . you couldn't make something from nothing, unless there was some sort of stray soul floating around somewhere. . . "Way back when, it was called Choukosui, and lots of people still call it that. I've no preference, personally, but depending on who you ask it matters a lot." He shook his head. "Sorry, I'm rambling."

The Glavenus eagerly gulps down all of the brew. . . and proceeds to take a woozy step or two in the general direction of the castle before passing out. Seems it's a bit of a lightweight. Masaru watches all of this with a fair measure of bemusement. "So. . . is this thing our pet now? And, uh, are we just leaving it here, or what's your plan for it?"

The wyvern (at least, that was how the people of this world would classify it) walked toward Mar eagerly at the mention of "meat water." It seemed quite eager to sample something so wondrous. It seems to be fairly compliant toward Mar as the enchantment fades, viewing him as some sort of parental figure.

Mitsurugi nodded. Jade was correct; reacting like this was only going to put the others at risk. She heard the rumbling of thunder in the distance, and mentally cursed at herself; she should keep better control than that. Pushing herself off of the wall, she took a deep breath, and then turned to face the rest of the group. "We should tend his wounds and continue as quickly as possible. Are any of you gifted as healers?" It was too late to calm the storm outside; she could still do so, but it would require more effort than it was worth. There was no civilization this far out, and it shouldn't be too severe besides.

"I. . . I am fine." A flush of shame started to spread across the woman's face, contrasting how pale she'd become a couple moments ago. "I just . . . need a moment. Please." A display like this wasn't fit for public display by anyone, much less someone of her status. A status that meant virtually nothing, now. . . "Thank you for your offer." Truth be told, drowning herself in alcohol was more than slightly appealing at this time, but they still had work to do. And the shame of this public display was nothing compared to sloshing about drunkenly in public, especially when there were important tasks to be done.

Masaru - Servant's Quarters "Kibwe's the name of the place. Well, it varies depending on who you ask." The topic was returned to Mar, however, and his interesting experiment. The adventurer followed Mar out of the castle, and watched him set up his ritual with interest. He hefts his blade, raising it in preparation to defend himself, after the flash blinds him. Since the beast doesn't seem immediately hostile to them, nor does Mar to it, he simply waits, ready. Hellblade Glavenus - Outside The juvenile monster looks around at its environment, and Mar, cautiously, developing tail raised and held close to the body much like the guard of the swordsman nearby. It inclines its head at Mar. "You gave life? You are not Glavenus, how does one who is not Glavenus make Glavenus?"

". . . I do not know. I could not. . ." Couldn't reach him in time. She'd reacted too slowly again, done too little too late. "S-Someone please tend his wounds. I do not have the ability to step so far outside my sphere. . ." She sets Gary down, and walks stiffly over to one wall, eyes wide open. She puts one hand on the wall to steady herself - she seems to be trembling slightly. Outside, rain seems to be beginning to fall, and the distant rumbling of thunder sounds. . .
-
Mitsurugi hurriedly tears a scrap of cloth from Gary's clothing and draws out the closest thing a goddess of her nature could come to a healing spell; something to draw out the impurities present in the body and contain them in the paper so that they could be disposed of later. If she were being completely honest with herself, it was more suited to a therapeutic treatment than something to do to someone who was at risk of dying. It was also odd that something like this was eliciting such. . . panic, as one part of her noted as if it were commentating on the experience. She had no idea what prompted such a reaction; mortal lives passed all the time, and one wasn't a particularly big deal. Perhaps it was that he was such an unknown to her. . . She scooped up Gary in her arms gently, the pitch blackness not impeding her unduly. She lifted him, trying to keep him as still as possible, and leapt upward to rejoin the rest of the party. Hopefully, someone there would know how to treat the strange, blocky man.

Myrdwyn snorted and laughed out loud at Emilee's response "I haven't been flipping your skirts. . . "Unless yer tryin' ta say you want me to. Good to know that your ass is, in fact, sparkly, by the by." As she spoke, she landed Ecquis and unstrapped the man she'd been ferrying over the river. She gingerly set Kaito down on the ground, where Emilee could tend him. After lingering for a moment to both hear the healer's reaction and see that the man got treatment, she flew back over the river. K7, drop Kaito, canto to L5

"Yamaguchi Masaru. I'd be the latter case. Still don't really know how I got here, but I'll work with it." The woman seemed uncomfortable, somehow. Perhaps it was Mar? He had to admit, he'd had more unpleasant dealings with orcs than not, but Mar thus far seemed to be the variety that didn't believe in running at anything that wasn't part of his tribe and bludgeoning it to death with whatever was handy. "What are you up to, anyway?"
-
"I'll have to look at those once I've got a better idea of how this place is laid out. As for any improvements you want to make, let me know if you need any heavy lifting done. I was never much of an engineer, but I'd like to help fortify this place however I can; any enemy a trap takes out means one less that puts our people at risk." He hefts his blade a bit at the comment about heavy lifting; it looks like it weighs as much as Mar does, at least. "By the way, you wouldn't happen to know if this place has a separate place for the nobles to reside, would you? Been looking for a room with a little more space."
-
Masaru rounds a corner and nearly collides with a particular orc upon doing so. "Ho there, Mar. Sorry about that, this place has got tight corners. What have you been up to, anyway?" The orc looked. . . oddly tired. Not the good kind of tired that came from a day's work or a hard-fought battle, but a tiredness of the heart. He deigned not to comment on it for the moment, however; he'd only just met the other man, after all, and it didn't do well to pry into personal affairs that quickly.

Mar finds a number of things, mundane or otherwise. He obtains his desired crops - not all of which are native to the area, but Val Habar's role as a trade hub offers some perks - before tracking down a few of this world's more unique offerings. Dragonfell Berry A berry infused with Dragon Element, whose unknown properties are anathema to the very dragons that use it. Inflicts Silence for 2 turns on consumption. Might Seed An energizing seed often used in draughts said to make Hunters more powerful. Increases damage dealt by 3 for 3 turns, or cures a debuff on an attacking stat, when consumed. Adamant Seed A hardy seed used to create drugs to enhance one's toughness. Increases RES by 3 for 3 turns, or cures a RES debuff, when consumed. Flame Sac An organ filled with a powder prone to igniting on contact with air. Cryo Sac An organ filled with a fluid that expands and freezes on contact with the air. Screamer Sac A bladder filled with air that produces a loud screeching sound when ruptured.

"I don't believe it was rude at all, friend Hunter! These sorts of things take time, you know. I do appreciate the offer, but I'm afraid there isn't very much you can do, unless you wanted to become some sort of messenger boy; this takes time because of negotiations being slow over great distances." The Wycoon pauses, a pensive expression on his face. "Do speak to me next time you are in Val Habar, however. There are no business opportunities held up by monsters right now, but they crop up all the time. If you helped me resolve one of those quickly, I'd ensure it was worth your time and struggles."

Andre discovers that, this being a medieval - albeit magically enhanced - kitchen that has been abandoned for what might have been centuries, there are no popsicles or anything even remotely resembling one. Masaru nods. "Good. Now, I'm off to track down a room for myself around here. Man's gotta know where he's gonna be resting his head." With that, he picks his sword back up, and heads off in no particular direction. He's looking for the nobles' bedrooms, but having just been unceremoniously dumped into the castle not too long ago, he's not familiar with where they are located at this time. The sun outside is starting to descend, and with it the buzz of the market is slowly fading. The rays cast from it scatter dappled shadows across the still-vibrant colors of Val Habar as Mar approaches the Wycoon. "You're back again, I see. Was there something further you needed?"

"Oh, shit!" One of the pair of lovebirds was down. She heard the woman's request for help, and swooped down, brushing past the archer. The wound in her side burned, but it'd take more than that to slow her down. She was talking before Ecquis even touched the ground next to the man. "I'm here, just hand 'im over to me and I'll get him back safe. Don't get stabbed or blown up or I'll be pissed." She quickly jumped down off the wyvern, scooping the larger man up in her arms bridal-style; it might have been comical if it wasn't for the fact that said man was currently in the midst of bleeding out from a mortal wound. "Right, up we go then. Don't bleed so much on my saddle, ya hear me? Bloodstains take ages to clean." She climbed the side of the wyvern, setting Kaito down and strapping him in with efficiency before hopping up on the saddle herself and heeling the flying lizard forward once again. J4, Rescue, canto to J7 "Emilee! Get your sparkly ass over here, we've got wounded!"

"Not sure how to deal with the power from an external source, if I'm being completely honest, but I can put out more than I can safely handle, so I guess that makes me the best one here to give advice." He frowns for a moment, brow furrowed with thought. "You look like you're feeling okay right now though, which is good. . . I'd start with focusing on the basics. So moving around pens and such for you. Just tell it to do what you want it to do and try to let it happen instead of trying to force it to go where you want it to. If you try to grab it and force it wherever, then you're just pulling more out from wherever it came from and it'll overflow."

"S-sorry. . ." She scoots closer to Blink as she speaks, until they're a sneeze away from touching. Her words were a lot to take in. . . Nil was gone and Watcher was messing with things, and things generally seemed to be going from bad to worse. She wondered how Greed was doing; it was usually a little more stable than some of the other places - like where they were currently - but if everything was falling apart. "We, um, met this guy. He said something about these monsters going around eating universes so, um, that might be why Chronos is so worried about these things. Because, um, they might be related to the other monsters."

Mitsurugi, in the chaos, spots the strange blocky man falling into the abyss below. Wordlessly, she rushes to the edge of the platform, swings over it, and smoothly kicks off of it towards him, flying toward him in an attempt to catch him. She could catch up to the rest of the group later, rescuing this mortal took priority.
