  1. "Anna, don't you think that was a bit much!? We're here to be heroes, not clock people over the head with clubs!" The archer found it difficult to get into her normal attitude when launching into battle; it was hard to yell about heroism when one of your allies essentially just murdered a man for offending her. She darted a few steps downward and prepared herself, a longbow matching her own height held at the ready. B5, overwatch
  2. reminder to the team that your archer exists and does not want to have to run out and expose herself to mobs of enemies that her allies could fight to hit something edit: to clarify, that merc is getting ganked when you guys could be getting in position to draw out and fight enemies that i can't actually safely hit even with 3 range because I have no one to eat hits for me. I could be hitting him for a fair amount of damage and saving at least one person's turn instead of setting up camp with overwatch and hoping that the first enemy that approaches is something i can actually hurt
  3. 8/10 Also... Magic carpet deity? wat?
  4. oh i'm sorry i couldn't hear that over the sound of swordsmen having arrows lodged in their skulls as mages got split in half by killer axes
  5. i can;t hear you over the sound of weapons tinking off of my wyvern lords and the wails of my enemies as my snipers crit them
  6. Hoshiko's mouth twisted a bit in disappointment, but she didn't argue. The soldier had a good point, after all. "Alright. I suppose it has been a long day." She settled back and started to finish off the rest of her stew at a more reasonable pace, glancing over at Serene occasionally. This should help. . . right?
  7. Peg knights are cool but if they could have strength stats that actually existed that'd be great if fucking kaze hits harder than you there's a problem
  8. Hoshiko nearly gaped at the appearance of the fiery letters. A message from the goddess...?! She looked about wildly for a moment, then spotted Serene a fair distance away. Oh, of course. . . but it could still be an indirect message! She serves the Goddess too, in her own way, so this can only be divine inspiration! In this situation, Hoshiko might have saluted at the fire mage - but Hoshiko wasn't exactly a traditional soldier. So, she gave her own version of one: another dramatic pose, that would have had both hands on her hips if one hadn't still been holding a bowl of stew. She settled back down and shoveled a few mouthfuls into her face as if the stew was in danger of vanishing before her eyes, then asked Meredith another question: "Do you think we could start now?" While she awaited an answer, she continued to attack the stew. ((OOC: No, I don't expect Meredith to say yes, lol))
  9. She shook her head. "Pirate with a vendetta. Or, I used to be." The spike in curiosity did bother her ever so slightly, but not enough to be impactful. A voyeur like this man seemed to be was unexpected, but in hindsight wasn't really that shocking. You had to be pretty screwed in the head to end up here, she supposed. "As for looking like this, I'm just a health nut that runs a fried chicken stand."
  10. Hoshiko nodded fervently, twintails bobbing. "Thank you. I'll do my best to be a good student. After all, a true hero works hard to become and stay the strongest!" She struck one of her dramatic poses, looking down at the ground with one foot forward and the opposite hand stuck high into the air, fingers splayed out as if she was holding up the sky. It did look rather odd with the bowl of stew cradled in her other arm. She dropped out of it after a moment to ask a question. "So when do we start?"
  11. "I'm here because I spent a good forty years of my life killing people," she said simply. She didn't speak in a menacing or arrogant tone; it was just a matter-of-fact statement of information. She wondered what the others would think; they seemed to be here almost by accident so far, swept up in circumstances beyond their control. Much different from Scarlet, who knew full well that she belonged here.
  12. "Um, I was thinking, maybe, uh. . . I could never really use a sword, because I always got too nervous and couldn't imagine actually hitting anyone with it in a real battle, but m-maybe you could. . . t-teach me how to fight with a spear? I wouldn't feel so useless if I could protect myself up close. . ." The archer flushed with preemptive embarrassment, not wanting to look at the woman she was asking for help from.
  13. "I don't know. . . I would probably still be hunting and protecting my village in Yukihana from raiders." She looked down. "I still don't know. . . everyone else is getting stronger and I'm just sort of coasting along." She was quiet for a moment, but had an odd expression on her face, looking. . . conflicted? "Uhm, maybe. . . No, it's silly, nevermind. . ."
  14. "I just . . . I don't know. I feel like the Goddess sent me here with a purpose, she wants me to help make things right here. Maybe it was even because of this stuff with the undead and all that but. . ." She started to choke up a bit. "I'm completely useless on the battlefield no matter how hard I try. And I'm not sure what else I'm supposed to do. If being a hero is bad or if I'm just not good enough to be one then what am I supposed to do? I'm just not getting any better and I don't have anything else I can do to help. . ."
  15. Hoshiko started to breathe a sigh of relief before catching herself. She just sort of looked awkwardly at the soldier sitting next to her, not entirely certain of what to say. She's probably just going to lecture me on how silly and foolish I am. . .
  16. Huh. Not all that dissimilar to me, then. "Oh, that's what you are? Never really met one, but I've heard of 'em." She still wondered how he'd ended up here; the Familiars were supposed to be pretty friendly and not at all threatening. What, am I the only actual criminal in here? "What are you in for, anyway?" She figured it couldn't hurt to ask; not like she had anything to lose.
  17. Scarlet, for what it was worth, snorted in response to the performance falling apart in a quite spectacular fashion. Doctorate in boxes. . . nice save, dude. At least I don't have to worry much about this guy, but it still leaves the question of how in the hell he ended up in here with someone like me. The bit about immortality was interesting, though - even if his wording was rather laughable in hindsight. Typically, the people who have felt the sting of death aren't around to share the experience. . . but I get the point you were trying to make. "So you're immortal, then?" She asked the question in a fairly neutral tone - she supposed it was also quite possible that the rodent was just off his rocker.
  18. "Okay," Scarlet responded flatly to his proclamation. She gave a cursory wave to the eyeless horned girl in response to her hesitant greeting. Doctor Iota? So he's here for what, experimenting on people or something. Disgusting. Not that I expected savory people. Kinda makes you wonder what the shrinking violet over here did, though. Then again, they always say to beware the nice ones. She shrugged, mostly in response to her own thoughts, and then began to wander off. May as well explore this hellhole a bit. She stopped, however, when the man from before started to speak again. Eh, this might be interesting.
  19. Sven's arrival obviously made Hoshiko uncomfortable, and she visibly shied away when he spread his wings. "I'm fine, really; you need to stop worrying about me! Heroes don't need people to worry about them, that's the opposite of why they exist." Even if you're a terrible hero that never does anything actually heroic and just runs around the battle and yells without being useful. . . She did her best to put on a confident face, but the presence of all the people - not to mention the monstrous flying lizard - was starting to become too much for the girl.
