  1. Haruki continued to wave back at a frequency and amplitude that one would think would exhaust his small frame. One would think incorrectly, of course, as the boy showed no signs of slowing down. "Hiii~' he said again, before approaching the blushing girl. "Hey, why are you blushing like that? You were just waving, you're supposed to wave when you meet people! Or do people make you nervous? I know my little sister doesn't like people, but she never really seems nervous, just like she wants to punch them in the neck or something. But I disagree with that! Also I don't think I remember your name, what did you say it was again?"
  2. He bowed his head politely with a "Thank you" as he accepted the beverage from Shelly. He smiled at Hannah's appearance, which drooped slightly when she ran off. He affected a childish giggle when her mother mentioned that she rarely approached people. "I wonder why she picked me?" She shouldn't. I am not a good person to grow close to. He took a small sip of his chocolate to be polite. He supposed it tasted good enough, but he hadn't truly enjoyed any food or drink in centuries; to him, it felt much like having a piece of cloth or something similar in his mouth. Not unpleasant, really, but not something that would be described as enjoyable.
  3. "Hey, I thought the plane was really cool! They're really neat and stuff, you know, all sorts of work that goes into making something huge and metal fly through the air like that. I've never been on one before, it was cool! I already said that. It really is a nice day! Why does everyone look so glum and bored, this is super exciting!" The ones exiting the plane were once again subjected to an all-too-familiar verbal barrage; the short, pink-haired boy - Haruki, he'd introduced himself as almost immediately, though it might have been difficult to remember - had been idly chattering with a frequency that made it seem like he didn't actually require air to survive. He happily skipped off the plane, jumping down the last few steps and stretching his arms out with an exaggerated noise of effort before whirling to face the people waiting for them, He waved cheerily, his hand moving back and forth in an almost frenzied manner. "Hiiiiii~"
  4. actually i should ask: are you iron manning this or resetting when people die?
  5. "Am I ever going to get an explanation to what the fuck is going on...?" Arturia mumbled to herself as she followed Haley out, eyeing Trick as she did so. Still don't feel right. . . did she. . . what? Ripped my heart out. . .? She was having difficulty collecting her thoughts, and to a certain extent her breathing; Haley could probably hear that her breath came and went a bit more quickly than seemed to be necessary at the moment. Frowning, she went from side-eyeing Trick to outright glaring at her, brow furrowed in thought. "Wait, hold on, what the hell did you just do to me? I thought you were an illusion or some shit."
  6. Arturia just sort of stood there for a moment, staring blankly at a shelf in front of her. She really, really didn't want to look down; this all felt like some nightmare that was only really okay because you forgot it halfway when you woke up, and the rest soon after that. "Am I dead?" she thought aloud, not really noticing the fact that she actually spoke. She thumped down onto the ground, vaguely noting that she landed harder than was really comfortable as she abruptly sat on the floor. She only rested for a moment, however, as she began to scramble back to her feet once again. "Oh shit, Haley, are you okay?"
  7. Arturia's head spun as she tried to follow the stream of words flowing from the girl's mouth, questions arising far faster than she could manage to obtain satisfactory answers for. Am I going insane? Did everyone else around me suddenly go insane? Discounting the explanation of a sudden psychotic break on her own part, the girl in front of her was either magical or the result of someone else's magic playing some sort of bizarre trick with her mind. I feel like she has something important to tell me, but what the hell is she actually saying? "Listen, could you just slow down for a second..." Wait, what? The girl was... burning. Not like you'd expect to burn, almost like she was some sort of paper effigy set alight from the inside. An increasingly concerned note entered her voice as she spoke. "Wait, what's happening? Are you okay? Holy shit..!" This is probably an illusion or something, but what if it isn't? She transformed in a flash, light lancing out from her body and wrapping around Trick's.
  8. "VILE BEASTS! The Goddess's might shall rain down upon you unholy mockeries of life, and I will be delivering it! Just dare to come close." E-18, Overwatch
  9. "Uhm... of course, Klaren." Why do you sound excited? She started to walk into the village further, looking about to see how bad the situation was in the rest of it.
  10. "Hey, what's that supposed to mean!? My passion for the Goddess burns brighter than the sun, and don't you dare try to tell me otherwise!" She frowned for a moment at the apparent pyromaniac. "I need to keep myself in top shape to carry out her will, anyway; burns would make it hard to deliver her justice with the twang of my bowstring." Her frown turned into a generally dubious look at the mage and the rest of the group. Is no one else bothered by the village being on fire...? "We should check to make sure the villagers are okay, though."
  11. "I support embracing the fires of the Goddess more than anyone, but I don't think it's supposed to be this literal...!"
  12. a version of https://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Fujiwara_no_Mokou adapted to a scifi setting, replacing magic with Sufficiently Advanced Technology (and wrist-mounted flamethrowers)
  13. Aww, you didn't grab me in the first group. Still, entertaining to read.
  14. is gud, 8/10, though i tend to prefer arm cannons to bloodsoaked claws >.>
  15. Character Name: Haruki Kita Age: 17 Gender: Male? Appearance: Notably shorter than average with a fairly slim build. He's rather androgynous in appearance, and his relative fondness for bright and flamboyant clothing only adds to this impression. His hair is a bit under shoulder length, and the color actually varies from day to day based on a small application of his Lumen. His eyes vary similarly, though less often due to requiring more focus to adjust without inadvertently blinding himself temporarily. He claims not to remember the original color of either, and they'll stay modified when he sleeps. (If he was knocked out, they'd revert, though.) Haruki looks younger than he actually is to most people. Backstory: Haruki was born in Occasus seventeen years ago, to a family in rather unfortunate circumstances. What these exact circumstances were, he does not recall; he remembers little of his parents (or at least claims such) and only refers to them as "terribly boring" or similar when asked - him and his sister Kimiko have lived in an orphanage for most of their lives. A certain fox saw this situation and decided to gift Haruki with Lumen to help him along when he came of age. His misfortune, however, seemed to continue rather than abate after this fact; the signs of his gift were recognized fairly quickly by some less than scrupulous individuals in the city. The place was quite technologically driven; this resulted in a dangerous blend of disrespect and mistrust of Lightgivers and a strong curiosity about how, exactly, the mysterious phenomenon worked. He was whisked off to a private facility where said individuals decided to investigate what exactly went on with Lumen and how it worked, with little regard given to things like Haruki's physical and mental state after their experiments concluded. He doesn't really like to talk about what, exactly, happened to him during those years, but the society's bias against Lightgivers didn't do much to alleviate his situation, to put it gently; this time is another thing referred to as "totally lame" or similar. Fortunately, however, he did manage to extricate himself from this situation (something about a "death ray" convincing the experimenters that keeping him around was a bad idea) and happened to run across a recruiter, searching for talented young Lightgivers to train up for greater purposes. . . Personality: Haruki is actually quite cheery and almost absentminded, prone to wandering physically, mentally, and conversationally. He has a sharp intellect, almost intimidatingly so, though it can be difficult to tell due to his near inability to stay on one topic. He is quite curious and prone to asking questions, and has an excellent memory for the answers to these questions and more; it's getting him to actually apply this that's the difficult part. Haruki doesn't like to sit and ponder dilemmas; he'll tend to just follow his gut, doing what he feels to be right. Lumen: He possesses an ability some would call light manipulation. The nuance is a bit more narrow than that; he can control the reflectivity and refractivity of anything that's within about an inch or two of him, including parts of his own body. For example, he can take a plain sheet of paper and use it as a perfect mirror, or spend a bit more time focusing on it to do more complex tricks like forming images on a surface or projecting them with a lens. Weapon of Choice: More of a tool to assist using his power, he carries around a few "lenses" that are just circular pieces of glass. He usually uses his powers to misdirect, harass, or annoy any opponents when it comes to physical combat, but can focus light sources onto a target - a potent ability when outdoor.
  16. "I'm just here to meet all the different people practicing magic and hopefully learn some stuff from them." Like why someone would be going about murdering people in an effort to break up the Alliance, or perhaps some ways to alleviate some more personal issues. . . I wonder if this Lerodoch would be understanding. Blood magic could very well be the answer to the question - though in all likelihood it would be just another dead end. "What do you guys do at Izdaz?"
  17. "Um, Haley? Are you feeling..." She trailed off as the other girl just sort of flopped over. "I guess not...?" What the hell is even going on any more? Her brow furrowed deeply at Haley's behavior... until she found a pair of arms wrapped about her. Arturia craned her head around to try and spot the person attached to said arms, far too many questions competing for her mental attention at once as she did so. "Uh, hi? I'm kind of in the middle of something important, what do you need?"
  18. Interesting. The amount of effort I've seen put in here is promising.
