  1. ...what is there not to understand? it's a question of aesthetic senses, i'm not expecting you to divine some sort of deep philosophical meaning from a picture of xander charging into battle 6/10
  2. Notus, since this could go on fairly indefinitely, do you want me to find some excuse to move Gabriel along or something? He's basically just gathering information which has no real "end state" in sight.

How difficult is it to guard a purse when he has no hands?

Why guard your purse when there's nothing in it? Better to act like an easy target, only to take the purse of the one who takes your own.

  4. Pbood, enough. Sparky has already given you his decision; it is the host's right to refuse any player regardless of what the actual reasons are. Furthermore, he has declined your requests for an explanation, and so you will have to respect that. Continuing to badger him for one is not only rude, it is off topic. So please, keep any further discussion on this matter to PMs, being aware that if you become problematic there, it will be treated accordingly as Sparky has the right to be respected in that venue of communication as well.
  5. 7/10 i dun like the white background tbh
  6. Hoshiko bowed her head politely in appreciation of Meredith's words. "I believe we can get along just fine in the future then. Though, I'm afraid I might not be the greatest teacher; the only thing I really do is follow what my heart says must be done, and trust that the Goddess will guide me to the correct path." She struck another dramatic pose abruptly. "After all, I am a chosen hero! She would never lead me astray! So I guess trying to learn from me wouldn't be bad."
  7. The archer looked at Meredith with a more than fair degree of startlement showing on her face, though she quickly covered her jump by turning it into a dramatic pose. "I will do my best to share my knowledge with you, then!" After a long moment, one that bordered on being uncomfortable, she dropped into a more normal position. "Though I must say, you were the last one I had expected to express such a desire! You haven't seemed too keen on my ways." A canny observer might be able to tell that Hoshiko was looking somewhat. . . awkward? Embarrassed? through all of her posturing.
  8. "I would prefer Yukihana. That way I can introduce you to the person that taught me almost everything I know of JUSTICE!"
  9. "Oh, it would not just be my clan. A few talented samurai does not make an army. My clan is enemies with some, but friends with more; I was simply trying to say that recruiting more to the cause of justice in Yukihana will not be as simple as asking that the Emperor send his armies our way." She elected to ignore the ongoing antics involving the rather... bizarre monk traveling with the party. Each serves the goddess in their own way, I suppose. . .? She turned to Meredith. "You can't let the ghosts of your past haunt your future. What you did was done; you have proven your strength of heart and sided with the forces of good. That should be enough for anyone. After all, you've taken up arms against Dragao; who could possibly believe you to be a foe? Other than, well, Dragao."

but it's much more accurate and better depicts the feeling throughout most of conquest.

  11. "I would be glad to go to Yukihana and recruit more aid from among my people, but there is one thing you have to keep in mind. You call Yukihana an empire, and indeed, we will follow the Emperor, but the clans themselves often have little love for one another. You could likely convince the Ishikawa clan, for example, to lend their strength - my clan is known for their skilled swordsmen and, of course, archers - but this would earn you the emnity of the Ryuuyama clan and chill your relations with the Kori. It would not be a simple matter."
  12. The girl felt a slight pang of regret as she watched Luka walk off. Maybe I spoke too quickly. . . She didn't move to rectify the situation, however, instead turning back to her task at hand. She adjusted her scarf a bit to ensure it was secure, then hopped up and grabbed a limb of the tree, climbing toward the top to retrieve the projectiles pinned out of reach of the ground.
  13. "Because the Goddess told me to," she replied, a distinctly irritable note still in her voice. "I dreamed that she told me to travel to Dragao and that I would see injustice and villainy there, and that she needed me to help destroy it for good. Satisfied?"
  14. "Well maybe I WANT to be alone! Did you ever consider that, 'nice guy?"" She jammed the usable arrows back into her quiver as if driving them into a foe, and then threw said container to the ground as she alternated between glaring at Luka and the arrows lodged higher up in the tree.
  15. "Heroes don't need people to worry about them. Idiots that shoot themselves do, so maybe you should worry about yourself!" She tore another arrow from the tree with a huff; it was as if the poor plant had somehow offended her grievously.
  16. "Like I said, I just needed to retrieve my arrows. The only ones the Goddess sends raining from the heavens are the ones that are coming off of my bowstring. . . and, well, I don't think it would be a good thing if they fell from the sky on their own." She fixed Luka with a suspicious look. "Why do you ask?" She turned to begin the process of plucking her various arrows from the tree, glancing over her shoulder at the dancer occasionally and making an irritable noise every time she discovered one of them had been ruined on impact.
  17. Gabriel nodded with a knowing - perhaps too knowing - look. "I understand. My family is kinda similar, although they don't really focus on magic or anything." Hm. The scion of a house known for powerful blood magic. . . he's starting to sound like a more and more likely target. Best to keep an eye on him, or have one of the others do so. "Just let me know if you see anyone scary, and I'll have my dad talk to them! He's the scariest guy I know when he wants to be." Gabriel elected to change the subject for both Ledoroch and his own benefit. "So what about everyone else? Not everyone said what they were here for.."
  18. "Just promise me you guys will be careful, okay? I wouldn't want to see anyone get hurt." So the demon is from a famous clan... interesting. I may have been too hasty in my dismissal of demons as a target. This is so much more difficult than my typical work; rooting out a killer is very different from extracting a desired piece of intel or removing a particularly troublesome opponent. . . Still, they are bound to show themselves eventually. "I'm glad my dad is so scary with these kinds of people around." He waited a moment, then leaned forward a bit in interest. "So what's your clan famous for? I know you said they were building a school and stuff, but how did they get famous?"
