  8. Artoria sighed. "This is just nuts. . . I really don't want to wait, knowing that Riley is running around with goddess powers and apparently gets her kicks from stabbing people, but you've got a point." She shook her head and looked down for a moment, before glancing back upward at Haley. "Uh, by the way, I was wondering a couple things. The first one is how to take this off." She gestured at herself, blood-spattered armor and all. "Can't really walk around like this." After waiting for the other girl's response, she took a deep breath. "And, uh, what did you mean by 'you don't love me?' I mean, no offense, I don't, but that still seems like a weird thing to say. . ."
  9. "It's fine. . ." Hiroki murmured, despite Kagari's apparent unconsciousness. She sighed. What am I even doing? She's supposed to be my enemy, but here I am. She rubbed at her eye, surprised to find tears beginning to well there. Wow, and now I'm crying over this, that's just great. That's so stupid. . . She glanced back down at Kagari. She looks cold, though. She tried to pull the blankets on the bed out from underneath her competitor as gently as possible, and arranged them on top of Kagari, her brow furrowing with thought. This is how the nanny did it, right? She tucked the blankets in snugly, then took a step back and waited a moment or two. Her face lit up with another blush as she observed Kagari. Ugh, now I'm watching her sleep, and now I'm considering- Hiroki started to unbutton her blouse, exposing a plain, but high-quality white undershirt. She folded the garment up neatly and set it at the end of the bed. She still looks cold, and that can't be healthy. . . you're supposed to sleep together with someone to keep them warm, right? She did the same with her skirt, revealing a rather old-fashioned set of bloomers that came down to just a bit above her knees. After folding it up as well, she lifted the covers and slid underneath them with Kagari, staring up at the ceiling and not quite believing what she was doing.
  10. "A-are you sure? I-I can help you get back to your r-room." It was difficult to tell what, exactly, the cause was, but Kagari wasn't the only one with a flushed face. Hiroki knelt down - she'd stood back out of the chair at some point, she wasn't sure exactly when - and tried to lift her, starting out by wrapping her arms around the other girl and raising her before realizing that, well, she was a fifteen year old girl who didn't actually get much exercise. "I-I can't- you have to support yourself a little, I'm sorry. . ." Hiroki just hoped that her efforts were enough that Kagari could at least move with her support, as she tried to pull the latter's arm across her shoulder so she could be assisted more easily.
  11. Hiroki's eyes widened with sudden panic at Kagari's collapse. No no no no no no why we were just starting to talk- "Call a nurse!" she shouted desperately at the nearest server. I don't know what to do, wait, why should I care? Shouldn't I be happy? One of my rivals just passed out, this is a good thing, but we were just starting to talk, she actually seemed nice, even if she was sorta weird and scary at first- "A-are you okay?" Hiroki asked again, somewhat redundantly. "I-I didn't do something, did I?"
  12. "I-I know! Thinking that the way someone looks affects how well they can pilot a mech is stupid!" Sudden heat appeared in Hiroki's voice, though she immediately seemed to shrink back down abashedly. "B-but still, I hate being the butt of people's jokes. . ." She looked at Kagari, the way the woman had spoken her last few words finally seeming to click. "U-um, are you feeling okay? Should I call a doctor or something?"
  13. "U-uhm, well. . . I thought that no one would take someone like me seriously in something like this." She seemed to glance up and down nervously every few seconds as she spoke, not maintaining eye contact. "It makes sense, though. I mean, who would really think a little girl would be any good at something like this, right? I thought that if other people thought I was some mysterious man, I wouldn't get made fun of. P-plus no one would try to do anything weird when I was out of my mech. . ." She gave Kagari's own nervous motions a furtive glance before looking firmly at her empty plate for a moment or two.
  14. "Are you sure? I can keep going, I think. This is important, don't delay it for my benefit." Still, her hand unconsciously drifted toward her abdomen before falling to her side again. She sighed. "I have no idea what to actually do, though. This is all so fuckin' insane. . ." She looked around for a moment, thinking about what Haley had said. "Where did Lana go, any way? I was uh, kind of distracted." (bleh, short post)
  15. Hiroki slid her feet backward out of the shoes she wore, gathering them up with her cloak and voice changer before moving to take the seat Kagari offered. Her now-bare feet struck an odd contrast with her environment and her outfit as she stepped over, setting the bundle down behind the seat before putting herself in it. She had a small smile on her face, though her brow still wrinkled ever so slightly with worry and shyness.
  16. Hiroki was quiet for a moment. "Okay," she said heavily, releasing a breath she hadn't quite noticed she was holding. "I-I believe you." She frowned for a moment. "I still mean what I said though." She was actually trembling slightly, and not just because she was still standing on uncomfortably tall platform shoes. Please be real, please be real, no one ever really likes me, please. . . "My name is Yukimura Hiroki. I-It's nice to meet you."
  17. Hiroki felt a mixture of emotions. Lingering embarassment over the situation, shock at the sudden confession of love, happiness that someone seemed to actually take her seriously. . . and suspicion. "A-are you sure? This isn't just some kind of setup for a joke so you can make fun of me?" Her expression hardened for a moment, the undercurrent of suspicion becoming an edge of preemptive anger. "Because I'll never forgive you if that's what this is!" Still. . . She seems honest enough, what if she's telling the truth? Her expression faded back to vulnerable indecision, her hand starting to reach out to take Kagari's and then seemingly running out of steam halfway.
  18. Hiroki froze for a moment, paralyzed with sudden fear and inability to respond. Then, she almost hurled herself sideways out of her seat and hopefully out of Kagari's embrace. Unfortunately for the nervous girl, this process resulted in an immediate tumble to the floor, dislodging the device from her chin and causing her cloak to mostly fall off of her, revealing the black, violet-accented blouse and skirt beneath. The stupid shoes, I knew the shoes were overkill, I should have just pretended to be a hunchback or something. . . She frantically tried to gather up the cloak and fallen voice changer as she struggled back to her feet, her face alight with embarrassment. "S-s-stop it! Why can't people take me seriously!? No one takes me seriously, what the hell?"
  19. Say/Do something characterizing - 1 point Hiroki had glanced back toward the entrance at the sound of someone entering, and had visibly flinched upon seeing said someone before steadfastly returning her attention to her plate. She nearly squeaked in outright terror when said someone hugged her from behind. "I-I don't know what you're talking about," she said hurriedly, realizing too late that she forgot to whisper into the device on her chin. Her natural voice sounded out just a split second behind the harsh artificial one she'd been using, the high and somewhat faint sound betraying her lie. She attempted to disengage herself from Kagari's grasp.
