Kage, as usual, was not having a fantastic morning. He often had difficulty actually getting to sleep, and last night was no exception. This resulted in a rather late awakening, and a scramble to get out of bed and to where he needed to be in the morning. He cursed loudly and prolifically when Lucas helpfully informed him that it was 8:38 AM, almost falling over himself as he grabbed the first articles of clothing he found: a pair of jeans and an eye-wrenching combination of brightly-colored t-shirt and jacket. He made it to the space behind the gym just in time to hear Redwood's short speech about obtaining a new Pokemon.
After the professor finished speaking, with Lucas's assistance Kage made his way toward the table containing Steel types. He'd wanted to raise one for a while, but opportunities to even encounter them were few in number when you lived on an island. Granted, the former Champion lived there, but he wasn't exactly around often. "Lucas, what do you think?" The Ralts - as usual, perched on the boy's shoulder - made a neutral noise; he didn't seem to like the idea of a Steel type on the team in the first place. "Fine, whatever, don't have an opinion. Let's just go with another Hoenn native, how's that sound?" Another apathetic response. "You're always so helpful," Kage remarked sarcastically.
He reached toward the ball labeled Aron with Lucas's guidance, grabbed it, and clicked the button, releasing the Pokemon inside. "Suppose I've got to call you something, huh?" The Aron made a noise that sounded like offense; he didn't like Kage's apparent dismissiveness. "Calm down, I'm just trying to figure out a name, not trying to be mean. Hm, what do you think of samurai? Sasaki sound good? Yeah, let's go with that." The Aron seemed content with the name, even going so far as to affectionately headbutt Kage's leg - which sent him stumbling and almost falling over another table, as the Aron probably weighed several times more than Kage. "Okay, let's not do that, at least without warning me. Cmon, let's head over to the battlefields." He walked off in the direction stated, the Aron running with his tiny legs to keep pace with Kage.
