  1. Thunderlord simply sighed. She'd been expecting a threat that was slightly more. . . credible. She then chided herself silently; it was good to find less resistance than you expected. She raised her weapon towards the "Necromaster," thumb positioned to flip the safety. She wouldn't fire yet, as apparently one of her newfound allies wanted to try and reason with the man. Thunderlord didn't see an issue; it was likely that the artifact of Darkness he had found had already corrupted his mind beyond recovery, and personally believed that every second spent here was one that brought them further toward more dark forces arriving on Earth. . . but perhaps he was as little of a threat as he looked.
  2. Chen blinked at Lambda's treatment, but nudged Lambda's hand back with her head before beginning to trot off. Marisa, on the other hand, was feeling less than amicable. "Well then ya shoot magic spells back at me, ze. Besides, it was that magic rock or whatever, I don't beat people up unless they're in my way. Now let me get back to pickin' mushrooms, while the light is still good for 'em." She tugged at her hat, adjusting where it sat upon her head. At LOTUS's speech, Chen volunteered some information. "It was for her, duh." Chen pointed at LOTUS as she explained, her tone of voice clearly indicating what she thought of the fairy's intelligence. "Lady Yukari told us to investigate the youkai exterminators, and she lives the closest to Muenzuka." This drew an offended squawk from Marisa. "So you DID come here just to beat the tar outta me!" "No, Lady Yukari said to investigate." "That's what I just said, ze!" Marisa flapped her arms irritably at the group. "Don't know why you're here. . . Can ya just get outta here? Go beat up that maid or somethin', she's always really strange. And leave me alone." She turned, and pushed through a thicket of some unidentifiable plant life and began to walk off. "Give me a break. . ." Grumbling continued to echo through the forest as she walked off, as her distinctive hat slowly faded into the haze that still clung to the ground. "Oh, that's actually a good idea. Lady Ran said that we should check on Sakuya, since she helps with the incidents sometimes too." She started off in a different direction from Marisa; it looked like it was a bit lighter than where the witch had gone, possibly leading out of the forest. "Come on! Lady Yukari told Lady Ran to tell me to tell you that we have to do this as fast as possible!"
  3. Justine tried not to squeal at Stella's reaction to her words. The queen really was adorable. She hadn't imagined she would be this sleepy, but she seemed to live up to the rest of her reputation otherwise. "I hope we can relax together after that trying battle. I know some of the others have reservations about working with the Cedan royalty, but I don't believe it hurts our message at all. Anyone can be Virtuous, from the most lowly peasant to even a queen and her court."
  4. "I'm just happy that we could keep you safe, Queen Stella. It would be a grievous crime to allow your beauty to be marred by one of these brutes." Justine was glad she was still masked; she was a bit flushed, and it wasn't from the thrill of battle. Not entirely, anyway; she still wasn't entirely used to combat, but treating it like a performance made it more exciting than terrifying.
  5. "Arissell!" Gwyn landed their wyvern in a hurry, practically somersaulting over his head to approach the fallen half-fae before realizing somewhat belatedly who was between them and Ari. Instead, he rounded on Lancelot, Rosanne's words momentarily forgotten. "If you're so mad about people getting hurt, why did you hurt Ari like that? Ari didn't hurt anyone, all he did was touch you!" Gwyn held the hatchet defensively between himself and Lancelot, trying not to show that he was quite literally shaking in his boots. He glanced backward at their own injured, before swallowing and facing Lancelot one last time. "I-I won't forget this!" He carefully stepped backward, still trying to make it look like he wasn't fleeing, before gesturing at Gaheris and turning away. "C-come on, we need to help them out," he said, before his best to assist the wounded onto the wyvern's back.
  6. Hiroki stood and looked at Watcher for a moment. It felt like there was something she should say, but what could she? The girl shook her head slightly as she turned away. Arcturus had given her advice. He had been wrong about defeating her - Watcher had practically ripped her soul out right in front of her just to prove a point - but maybe it was still worth listening to. Whatever Watcher wants of you, do the opposite. Watcher had brought her here to fight Cardinal. The False God of Nil. The problem was, the entire plan had been to have Hiroki fight Nil. She'd never been too concerned about it; it had been something to anchor herself to and pull towards, but nothing more. With another small start as she realized she was stalling, hesitating to step through. Before she could be prompted, she walked through the portal. Ten planes. Nil. The False God. . .
  7. Gwyn felt the knight's oppressive presence clearly. He did have a certain reputation, but he was one of the Knights, so Gwyn had no reason to be afraid, right? Seemingly missing the outright hostile tone in the man's voice, Gwyn swung Gaheris towards him and called out. "Sir Lancelot! Sir Lancelot! I'm so happy to finally meet you! I wanted to ever since Lady Titania mentioned you. Well, and all the other knights, but you too! Oh, this is gonna make a great story for Ari."
  8. Lucine tilted her head in confusion. "Huh? Kids fall down all the time," the girl said, evidently missing the emphasis placed on the words. "And I don't think that was a monster. . . Um, anyway, she was chasing a dog around or something, maybe you saw one of those?" she asked hopefully.
  9. "Be careful, my Queen." Was it too presumptuous to call Stella her queen? No, she had to focus, as much as being here made her heart flutter. "I heard voices... I think the enemy has crept around to ambush us. But never fear, you have my blade and the ones of all of Virtuous at your side."
  10. "Seeing beneath the mask would raise even more," Nemesis replied cryptically to Eleanor's comment. Still, he did appreciate the assistance. He hadn't been any good at dealing with people for a while, now, and didn't particularly have an interest in cultivating the talent once again. At the merchant's tale, Nemesis raised an eyebrow, an action that would probably have held more significance were it not essentially completely hidden by his attire. So the Teras around here absorbed fire, somehow? That was good to note. "So what's your favorite way of dealing with the treants, then?" Ask the question that would be the least suspicious. It paid to not be an obvious outsider, as much as he would have liked to learn more about the local Teras and the threats they posed.
  11. Marisa peered at the container for a moment before Walmond's healing washed over her, prompting a look that might've been grateful if one didn't get the feeling she was annoyed it didn't happen sooner. She opened her mouth to speak, at which Chen began to rattle off an explanation in the exact same manner that she had before. She picked the bakeneko up by the scruff of her neck (or maybe it was just a fistful of dress, and placed her other hand over Chen's mouth. The cat continued to struggle as Marisa began her own explanation as if she didn't currently have a flailing shikigami in her hands. "Yeah, that should work. I just need to draw up some fancy magic circle and mumble some words over it and stuff." She made a face. "This really isn't my kinda magic, ze. You just gotta stand over there and do what I say for a sec - hey, no biting, ya little-! Anyway, this won't actually take that long, then ya can poke and prod at it to yer liking. I wouldn't, but ya could." The witch moved Chen to face her for a moment. "Ya can rattle off your explanation in a sec, but ya need to be quiet or this thing might blow up or somethin'. Just shut it." With that, she unceremoniously dropped the girl, retrieved her hat from Lambda with a nod, and then grabbed the red container Rory had proffered earlier. A short time, several questionable varieties of mushroom and other forest growths, and one dangerous sneeze near some Dust later, the ritual circle was complete. A few more moments, and the components used flashed with magic for a moment before promptly vanishing from existence. You could almost hear a chime as if some kind of puzzle had been solved afterward. Marisa said that the rock should be safe to handle as long as it wasn't perturbed too badly, as far as she could tell, and then retrieved her broom. "Why are you all here, anyway? There's gotta be a reason other than ruinin' my afternoon." Chen elected to take that moment to begin the explanation Walmond had requested earlier, causing Marisa to sigh and rub at her head once more.
  12. Kyou nodded before sliding her hat off and stuffing the fuzzy garment away in her bag. It wouldn't do much for the heat considering the rest of her outfit, really, but at least her head would sweat a bit less. "Getting there. Probably running slower for not pushing fistfuls of them into people's hands, but I think this way makes it less likely for them to start throwing things back."
  13. Marisa tilted her head at Empi, doing her best to tolerate the tengu's antics involving her hat while her headache cleared. "Well, of course I saw some of 'em, it was drinkin' night yesteday, ze. What do they have to do with anything? I mean, most of 'em went home before I found it, so I guess I didn't see 'em right as I grabbed it. Plus if I told you where they were at, you'd probably go exterminate them or somethin'. Not that I mind a good extermination once in a while, but it's a bit rude to beat up random youkai because ya found something weird in the woods, ze." Chen just shushed Hikari as her ears twitched a few more times, before she nodded at some unseen person. She turned to Isobel and clapped her hands together. "Okay, Lady Ran said that Lady Yukari told her to say that you need to seal these things really carefully because they're, like, from Outside. Um, outside Outside. Like the moon, except even further away and with less rabbits. All you need to do is. . ." Chen then proceeded to rattle off a mindbendingly complicated series of instructions, with some babble vaguely recognizable as Taoist terminology, if Taoist scripts had been written by somebody with degrees in both tax law and quantum physics. Blessedly, about halfway through the "explanation," Marisa waved her hands in Chen's face until she sputtered to a halt. "Calm down a little, there. First off, ya got the wrong one. Second, yer makin' that sound way more complicated than it has to. I think. Probably. Doesn't matter. I got the gist of what you gotta do with the seal to make it work right, since I guess that old ha-" A clod of dirt struck Marisa in the face, prompting her to aim (and whiff) a kick at Chen before continuing. "-Lady Yukari is too lazy to come and seal it herself, ze. But whatever, I can get it done, 'cept for the parts where I need magic that's actually from another world. I'm assumin' that you guys are supposed to provide that. Actually, since ya were kind enough to beat the stuffing out of me, you can set it up yerself while I nurse my bruises." She huffed irritably at that. "And then you can gimme my hat back. Ya know that thing amplifies magic, right? It's just gonna make whatever gribbly thing it does worse if ya keep it in there, birdbrain."
  14. Rhian started to head into the secret corridor when the smell hit her, and visibly flinched backward even as she noted her commander having already started to move forward. "That's just not right," she muttered under her breath. The archer had seen what those things did to the unfortunate animal that ran afoul of them; to knowingly subject another person to them was. . . something else. "Watch your step. There might be more, and a staff can't fix a pile of dust."
  15. The debug warning is solely for suggesting that someone use debug when what they are trying to achieve is perfectly possible ingame. You can still discuss debug mode and recommend its use for gamebreaking bugs, softlocks, and the like. Furthermore, it is a zero-point warning, meaning it has no real bearing on one's progress towards any punishments.
  16. "Give me a break. . ." Marisa seemed to largely brush off Rory's threat as she unsteadily rose to her feet, still holding one hand to her head. "I was just mindin' my business, rummagin' around for stuff in the Forest of Magic when I found this thing. It felt magical so - I said gimme back my hat!" The blond witch snatched at Masako, surprisingly dextrous for someone as woozy-looking as she was. " - So I figured I'd boot it up and see what it did, ze. Then I wake up to birdbrain standin' on my head and people yellin' at me like I stole their babies or somethin'." She rolled her shoulders a little, wincing. with the motion. "If ya gotta carry that thing around, you can do better than my favorite hat. You got Chen with ya, ask the gap hag to do it. 'Course, it was probably her idea of a joke." Marisa muttered something irritable under her breath about. . . seventeen-year-olds? Chen, for her part, seemed to be staring off into the distance, eyes focused on nothing in particular and ears perked as if she were listening intently for something.
  17. Kyou nodded at the question, but briefly interrupted the conversation to stick a flyer to the side of a nearby building - and roll her eyes at Beverly's antics. She really needed to learn to take criticism better. Still, it wasn't her problem at the moment. "I and family traveled since I was very small. Learned to speaken many ways, since meeten many different kinds people." She briefly thought to ask if this was the first time Ke had been out of the ruins, but judging by how they'd both reacted when the topic of why they were here came up, Kyou elected to pass over the question for the moment. "Do missen snow, though. Weather here getten too hot, much too hot." Kyou pulled at her hat as if for emphasis, the furred garment looking rather out of place in the press of a crowd.
  18. Nemesis nodded. An hour wasn't much time to prep, but it was enough. He headed in the direction of the Hunting Guild, not targeting the compound itself but the buildings that would inevitably be servicing it. Armories supplying the weapons one needed to bring down Teras, and everything needed to maintain them and not be torn apart by the things you hunted. There had to be a few merchants in the area, trying to eke a profit out of hunters that wanted a special, made-to-order elephant gun or what have you. There, he would restock his ammo, and try to make some idle conversation. He was headed further into the region, happened to be passing through the area; the weather seemed good for hunting. Any good stories to tell, warnings to share? At least, that was his goal; Nemesis found himself rather lacking in diplomatic ability as of late, and covering oneself from head to toe tended to not invite trust.
