    Sarcus would have preferred to press on during the night, but apparently they were stopping. He heard someone mention that they had no fire, which gave him an idea. He walked over with Absolution trailing him as usual and gave him a quick hand signal once he reached where everyone seemed to have gathered. A pale, ghostly flame wafted from the Dark-type's horn and settled near the ground. It didn't give off a lot of light, but the heat was the same as a normal fire. He scraped himself a seat in the snow and settled down, listening to the conversation around him.

    I take it Lucas helped you out whenever you had to write or read something? "Yeah. It's not really the easiest thing in the world, but he managed." He chuckled. "I guess this saves me the explanation of why there's a Braille typewriter in the mail, huh? It'll be nice to actually be able to use my cane, too." Kage sighed. "So, what's the punishment gonna be?"

    Lol. I actually am not a big fan of 3.5/Pathfinder in my limited experience, and editions before those are outside my experience. I appreciate 4e because it's easy to pick up and it's virtually impossible to make a useless character unless you try. (Whereas in, say, Pathfinder, you could build a fantastic rogue. . . and then run into nothing but combat where the best you can do is throw your dagger and pray to Avandra that a giant cockroach doesn't rip you in half. The reverse happens to barbies.) To get back to gnolls, I found out that Dragon 367 had a section devoted to playing as them. Your canon seems a bit different for them, though.

    Sarcus rolled his eyes and pushed ahead. "Absolution, Flamethrower." The Absol appeared to focus for a moment, then a jet of flame shot forward ahead of his trainer, melting a clean path through the snow. Sarcus made sure to wait a moment to ensure water didn't splash onto him, then proceeded forward much more quickly than before.

    Sarcus stopped and turned to address Adam. "I've got a question for you. Are you fucking stupid? This is prompted by a number of things, not the least of which is the fact that a Pokemon's body contains so much energy that a blizzard is basically a cool breeze to most of them. The real problem here is the fact that you seem to forget that the whole point of this fight is so people can enjoy their lives and do what they want. If you think that isn't a noble goal, then I have another question and a statement. Why are you here? And if you agree with the idea that people SHOULDN'T be able to do what they want, I'll put you down myself, right here, right now, because that's siding with the Church."

Kage let the curse slip through under his breath without realizing it as the statement crashed into him. For a moment, he considered being evasive about the question, but he figured that since he was in the hole already he might as well just try to dig right through. "Um, yeah. I'm blind. Figured it would come up sooner or later." The resignation in his tone faded and was replaced with a bit of heat. "I can manage just fine without help, though. No stupid special classes, and I don't need teachers holding my hands whenever I do anything!"

    Sarcus exchanged a glance with Absolution before following Fria. He trudged through the snow, trying to walk as lightly on the snow as possible and having mixed success while his Dark-type partner looked on with what appeared to be faint amusement. The Absol walked softly behind him, leaving only dainty-looking footprints behind as he walked on top of the snow.

    Personally, I'd rather do something like this at night irl. With what it looks like in the games, the glare from the snow would be unbearable.
