Name: Haru "Solace" Amsel Gender: Male Age: 23 Race: Mixed ancestry, predominantly Caucasian. Appearance: 5'2" and about 120lbs. Rather pale due to spending a lot of time indoors, though this is not entirely why. Medium-length black hair that's slightly shorter in the front and hazel eyes. Usually wears think, heavy clothing. Somewhat delicate-looking facial features, and is rather frail overall. Personality: Quiet to the point of being nearly mute and communicating mostly through body language. Willing to cooperate and work with almost anything and anyone, provided they aren't outright evil to him. Naturally, he tends to keep to himself. He is not particularly strong-willed and is rather easy to boss around for the most part. Enjoys the finer things in life, such as poetry. Despite all of this, there is a core of strength within him; he just lacks motivation to use it. Gift: Can distribute pain amongst people and animals within 6 feet. That is, pain can be moved from one individual to another to any degree, but no actual wounds are created or healed. It is felt wherever the original location of the source was unless the recipient is, for whatever reason, lacking that part of their body in which case it moves to the closest analogous part. The user feels at least 10% of pain moved by this ability. Backstory: A lifelong resident of the Living Quarter. As a child, his mother used to take in stray animals and care for them. Haru enjoyed caring for them and helping her nurse them back to health. The injured strays always seemed to perk up when he was nearby, though his mother was rather concerned by the sensations of pain she felt if she was close enough to her son. It didn't take her and her husband overly long to put two and two together and deduce that their son had an unusual Gift. They worried about sending Haru to school in the rough districts of the Living Quarter, but they soon learned he could fend for himself.
Though he would appear to be a natural target for bullying and general harassment by other children and adults alike, most left him alone after a few kids decided to rough him up a bit after school. Their attacks seemed to have little effect on Haru, while they themselves felt as if they were being punched. Rumors started to spread that he had some sort of psychic power that he could and would attack people with, so for the most part he was avoided, though this didn't bother him.
As he grew older, the rampant crime around him became more apparent. He became a fairly common sight after muggings, assaults, and even simple accidents, soothing away the pain of the afflicted party's injuries before other help could arrive. Haru also made a habit of showing up at hospitals and clinics, generally brightening the otherwise dismal mood by offering a respite from the pain of broken bones or fever. Most people didn't know his name, as he rarely spoke, so those in the area named him Solace as a substitute. He continues to try to get the other parties involved in the affairs of his home Quarter, despite the police breathing down his neck. Additional Details: For reasons that should be obvious, he's got a pretty high pain tolerance compared to most people and might outright ignore injuries as long as they are not crippling.
