  1. I'm not particularly good at formatting on this site, so I'll just walk through how I came up with this team. I wanted to run two things: a stall team, and a Mega Aggron team. Luckily, the two go together. With my primary member chosen, I continued. The first Pokemon that came to mind for stall was Forretress. Good defensive typing, all three hazards, and Rapid Spin. It can't do much to stuff that comes in on it, but the whole point of it is to set up hazards, then be brought out to spin when needed or to take a hit for the rest of the team. I'd also heard about Assault Vest Metagross, so I put one on this team. It's got a decent defensive typing still, despite the loss of Dark and Ghost resists, and Assault Vest compensates for its softer Sp. Defense. For Aggron, I originally tried a Rock Polish set. Then I discovered that Aggron's speed CANNOT be saved, no matter what. It provided another powerful physical wall with absurd defense and a solid movepool. Originally, I'd intended to run a standard Blissey on this team to compliment my strong physical defense. I'd been walled to hell by Eviolite Chansey, though, so I used it instead. So far, it's worked out well, though I've had better luck with Blissey. At this point team members were getting hard to choose. I wanted to run Skarmory for phazing Fairies, but I had already built up a massive Fire-type weakness and plenty of physical walling. I thought of a certain underappreciated Forme: Deoxys-D. While its health may be lacking, it has Stealth Rock and Recover, making it excellent for stalling. My last choice was tough. I wanted another Rapid Spinner with access to hazards, so I picked Cloyster. I've since changed to a more typical Shell Smash set, but it has served me well, though I regret only having one spinner. I've also considered swapping something for Milotic. One, Milotic has Dragon Tail, giving much-needed phazing. Two, I really like Milotic. Three, it makes a fairly good mixed wall and status absorber with Marvel Scale. @ Leftovers Trait: Sturdy EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk) - Spikes - Toxic Spikes - Stealth Rock - Rapid Spin I usually lead with Forretress because it has good defenses and Stealth Rock. It also partially counters other hazard-setting leads, as it can set up its own then Rapid Spin their hazards away. However, it can't really dent anything, which has been a problem. @ Eviolite Trait: Natural Cure EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Heal Bell - Toxic - Wish - Seismic Toss Standard Chansey. Works fairly well so far, and I invested in its Defense to make the best use of the 50% boost to both defensive stats. @ Assault Vest Trait: Clear Body EVs: 252 HP / 64 Atk / 64 Def / 128 SDef Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Brick Break - Meteor Mash - Earthquake - Zen Headbutt This one is giving me trouble. Metagross works fairly well, but the EVs are killing me. I'm not sure whether to invest in Attack (since it was the only real offensive threat on my team) or Defense/Sp. Defense to tank more hits. @ 306ite Trait: Sturdy EVs: 252 HP / 64 Atk / 128 SDef Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Earthquake - Heavy Slam - Stone Edge - Dragon Tail I still haven't decided what to use that first slot for. Rock Polish is out, Autotomize is even further out, but I feel like I need plenty of Stealth Rock setters on this team. Defoggers are a thing, and stall relies on entry hazards to deal damage to switch-ins. Dragon Tail uses a good Attack stat to dent things before phazing them out, and Aggron's Heavy Slam is absolutely monstrous. Stone Edge gives good coverage, despite the shaky accuracy. @ Leftovers Trait: Pressure EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 SDef Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk) - Stealth Rock - Spikes - Recover - Psychic I know, lots of rocks. I've explained this already. Deoxys's Pressure wears down valuable moves, Recover allows it to stay in on almost everything, and Psychic stops it from being complete Taunt bait, though so far the damage dealt has been worthless. I might swap it for Seismic Toss or, more likely, Night Shade, for reliable damage. @ Leftovers Trait: Skill Link EVs: 252 HP / 128 Atk / 128 Def Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Rapid Spin - Icicle Spear - Rock Blast - Shell Smash I sacrificed some of Cloyster's base 128 defense to make it more of an offensive thread. I have Rapid Spin over Razor Shell to provide me with an alternative to Forretress, who is quite likely to die before Cloyster comes out. 2. I wanted Kyurem for Sarcus. The most powerful Dragon-type in the world, but it's also honorable. Harsh, but honorable. As for Max, I was thinking maybe Ho-Oh, but I'm not sure. Palkia would be awesome but not quite fitting. One of the eon duo would fit, too. Guessing at Jake: I bet he wants either Giratina or Darkrai. EDIT: If it's allowed, Black Kyurem, to be specific.
  3. Thinking of getting some spriting practice by turning X/Y character models into sprites. What do you guys think?

Related: what are the dimensions for character sprites in Gen V?

      Raindrop Valkyrie

No clue, never sprited before, But good luck on that man lol.

  4. By the way, would you prefer some backstory on Sarcus and Max now, or do you want it revealed over time? Also, something traumatic needs to happen to Sarcus, something to drive him into being increasingly obsessed with power. Also #2: Listening to those KH remixes right now (Dearly Beloved is already full of feels, now there's even more in there). First one doesn't seem to fit what I've seen of Emerald so far, especially for a battle theme. Is it supposed to be just a theme (sort of like encounter themes in the games)? If so, I need to go back and add some to Sarcus and Max. We need a section in the OP dedicated to full character profiles. Personality assessments, themes, teams, and maybe pictures.
  5. I'm still not entirely comfortable with my character, so I'm waiting for someone to instigate something, to be totally honest.
  6. I'm actually considering changing Max's theme to the Sinnoh or Hoenn Rival Battle themes. They're both pretty awesome, though I don't know that Max is quite as energetic as Pearl/Barry.
  7. Didn't Jake take that already? Though it's almost fitting that they would have the same theme.
  8. "I don't really know her, but I think I've seen her around. She's always hanging around with you and. . . that guy." Max fell silent for a moment as he concentrated. ". . . and I think that's good." He wiped off his forehead, as sweat had accumulated there. "Try putting some weight on it. I think I fixed it, but I'm not sure."
  9. "Well, I heard that healing was giving you trouble. I'm pretty good at it; I figured I would help. Crutches suck. Oh, give this to Celeste; she loves them. At least, uh, I think she does. They calm her down." As he spoke, he retrieved another pokeblock and handed it to Jake. Max then assumed a face of intense focus, trying to will the bone to repair itself.
  10. Modest does not fit Sarcus. He's an arrogant bastard who subconsciously believes he is better than everyone else.
  11. Max winced when he saw Jake. "That looks nasty," he said, referring to Jake's leg. "I'm no expert, but I could probably fix that for you - or at least speed up the process a little. Here, hold Celeste for me," he said as he put away the brush and shoved the Feebas into Jake's arms without waiting for a reply. He crouched next to the leg in question, hands splayed out.
  12. Still trying to find a fitting theme for Sarcus battling his ass off. I was thinking Cynthia's theme, but it has some lighter parts I'm unsure of.
  13. My favorite weapon is a Warthog. Have fun with your handguns and rifles when I'm raining leaden death upon you from above. <---- likes planes. Also, I say that you're obligated to listen to the other person's theme while battling.
  14. Good choices. Btw, is anyone comfortable with playing Max when he battles Sarcus? His battle style would be pretty straightforward and direct, with a balance between offense and defense. (As opposed to Sarcus, who is very analytical and tends to go for straight offense or defense.)
  15. The hax in this game, I swear to god. . . Missing Dragon Tail and getting fucked because I couldn't phase out a sweeper that got set up.

  16. Sarcus, after dropping his class materials off in the Psychic classroom, stalked his way to the cafeteria, face a thunderhead. Detention for something as small as that? How was that in any way justified? He sighed when he looked at what was on the menu for today. Some things never changed, such as school lunches being edible at best. He made his way through the lunch line, and located his customary spot near the edge of the lunchroom. Sitting down heavily, he looked about for Grace. ---------------------------- Max noticed a familiar face ducking into the classroom as he shuffled down the hall. His name was. . . Jake? He walked back to the classroom and waited outside for the other trainer to come out. While he waited, he fed a Pokeblock to his Feebas, and started to groom it. He was oddly attached to the pathetic little thing.
  17. This isn't gonna affect my posts in the RP forum, is it?
  18. WE should all pick two battle themes for our characters, preferably from Pokemon or a remix of something for Pokemon. edit: themes for Sarcus are on the first page Max's themes are still being worked out, thinking this will be the one for most battles serious battles
  19. Why is Cynthia's theme so amazing?

    1. Raindrop Valkyrie

      Raindrop Valkyrie

I haven't heard it in a long time but I rememeber it being pretty damn good.

  20. Well, they didn't need to be completely immune to a type that's only used for its neutral coverage.
