Being a direct relative/friend of a canon character makes you a Sue because it doesn't make sense in the universe; it merely satisfies the author's ego. A character with a notable relative will have that relative mentioned somewhere. The insertion is blatant. It's not a fast rule (one of my characters, Maximus, is a relation of Steven) but it has to be done reasonably. Maximus, for example, is a cousin, and starts the story as no one notable.

So I'm thinking about doing a nuzlocke of Platinum after I get all of my pokes transferred over to a newer game. However, instead of the typical method of team building, I'll have Reborn decide which Pokemon end up on my team. After gaining the ability to fill up my party, I'll trade over (or hack in with randomized IVs/abilities if I can't reasonably obtain them) the Pokemon that you select. One Pokemon per post, first come, first served, no duplicate species, no double posting. Make it interesting, not boring (with a bunch of overpowered pokemon) or cruel (the weakest team you can think of). Any suggestions after the first 6 will be used in order to replace fallen teammates. I'll record my travels in the OP below. The rules that I am using: Any Pokémon that faints is considered dead, and must be boxed permanently. Players must also nickname all of their Pokémon, for the sake of forming stronger emotional bonds. A black out/white out is considered to be "game over", even if there are Pokémon left in the PC. Prohibition against voluntarily resetting and reloading the game when things go wrong. Being able to do so would render all of the other rules pointless. Battle style: Set.

yeah, there are some pokemon that are definitely immortal (Tao trio, Creation trio, Arceus) and others that are strongly hinted at (Kyogre, Groudon, lake trio) and others that I know little to nothing about (Musketeers).

acshully most legendaries are implied to reproduce, they just live for very long Rayquaza, for example, lives for thousands of years. This implies that Rayquaza does, indeed, reproduce. Latios/Latias are confirmed to reproduce (they talk about their life cycle, and Latias dies at one point iirc), Lugia reproduces, there are multiple Entei in the world, there are implied to be multiple Jirachi in the world, we've seen multiple Deoxys, Heatran, Cresselia, and the genie trio have genders, which implies reproduction, Victini's Pokedex sort of implies that there is more than one, the legendary birds are present in nearly every region, implying there is more than one of each, Mewtwo could be created again, Manaphy reproduces, there are multiple Shaymin iirc, pretty sure Meloetta reproduces, there are multiple Genesect,
