Chelchis made a low rumbling sound on inspecting Roy's handiwork. He wasn't outright praising violence itself as a purpose to existing, but this, too, reminded her of the Hive. Weapons that seemed molded of flesh, that she'd seen carried out of the Dreadnought by the Guardians. It was likely that there was no real association. . . but she couldn't be sure. "I SEE. READY TO KILL BIG ROBOT, THEN? COULD JUST STAY WHERE IT IS WHEN WE GO TO TURN IT OFF, BUT. . . UNLIKELY. IT WILL TRY TO KILL US BACK."

[IC] TTG Chapter 5: Wrath
Chevaleresse replied to Shamitako's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
"Blink hasn't ever given me a reason not to trust her." Her defensive tone still came through, somehow, though it was faint. What had the gods done for her? Given her a chance to be something other than an afterthought. Before the tournament, she was nothing. Worse, she didn't do much other than eat food and take up space in her parents' house. Now, even with the tournament having fallen apart, she was the Hellfire Knight. Even if she wasn't worthy of godhood, even if she'd been crushed like an insect by Lord, she was so much more than she had been. "And you still haven't told me why I should worry about Cardinal at all, other than the gods supposedly being wrong." -

"Am I supposed to be impressed?" Rhian didn't bother to scrape the soot off before taking aim at the offending mage and letting loose. S12, shoot mage -
The second of the Bel Lahmu dives at Venus, swiping at him twice for [12] damage total. Atton gives a short inspiration speech to himself and Friedhold, causing them both to pick up the pace. Bridgett enters Boost Mode and prepares an elaborate spell. The first Bel Lahmu also homes in on Venus, impaling him in the leg for [10] damage. Friedhold tosses another microsingularity into the beasts, dealing [17] damage to both Bel Lahmu, the remaining Greater Lahmu, and the first three Lesser Lahmu in the press. The two flying beasts are grounded, and having some difficulty taking off again. Venus detonates a bomb right in the gullet of the remaining un-mutated Lesser Lahmu, blowing it apart instantly. He heals for 6 HP. The Lesser Lahmu all turn their attention to Venus as one of them explodes, and they rush toward him in a mass, clawing and scratching for [11] damage total. Ritsu, having wisely decided to stay behind the protective rectangle, patches herself up again for [16] HP. The remaining Greater Lahmu literally chews on Venus's face for [8] damage. Edmond aggressively probes the Greater Lahmu for weak points, dealing [12] damage. Alexandria calls in the Orbital Friendship Cannon, feeding a heavily-armed friend some targeting data. A final attack splashed against Caster's throne, and the ancient Sumerian hero-king finally stood up, expression gone from vague boredom to a twisted rictus of rage. "ENOUGH!" His voice rang out sharply though the battlefield, and a tremor accompanied it. "You mongrels have sullied my si̛g͞ht for f̶a̴r t̴o̡o ̷ļon͝g̸!̵" The tremors intensified, and something disturbing started to become clear. The earth beneath the heroes was quite still. It was a tremor in the air, perhaps even the very fabric of reality. "Įt ̴i̛s̷ tim̵e ̛f҉or͜ y͝ou̧ t̸̀o͏ ̶͝l̴e͢a̛rn ͢y̵͜͞ou̵͝r̸̡͡ ̢́͞pl͏͏a͠c̵̨͞ę̵́!̴̛" The man's voice was becoming more and more distorted, unnatural, but with a strange singsong note behind it. Something started to leak from the space beneath the golden throne, a sort of unholy mud that seemed to twist one's eyes from simply viewing it, something indescribably foul and alien. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gv6Y0z8-m78 Gilgamesh shouted one last time, but what he said couldn't be heard over what sounded like a woman singing. The shaking of space intensified, and Gilgamesh seemed to fold in on himself before. . . something else took his place. His form twisted first into what seemed to be a woman's, with red eyes and pale blue hair, before twisting further and further into truly monstrous proportions. Arms lengthened turned an ugly mixture of red and black, not unlike the corrupted forms of the other Servants. The legs flowed outward, becoming less limbs and more one continuous structure as "Gilgamesh" bent to stand on all fours. The torso of the creature seemed almost human, if now scaled up to gigantic size, but the head looked more like something a dragon might see in its nightmares, with a maw running partway down the neck full of razor-sharp teeth and flesh replaced with armored plates and scales. Two massive horns sprouted from the head, curling backward over the beast. Tiamat had come. Whatever it was that was now flowing out of Tiamat, it had some kind of effect on the monsters on the field. The first Lesser Lahmu sprouts jet engines. The second sprouts folds out a set of razor blades. The third undergoes a similar roboticization process to the one that had happened earlier to the first two, though the odd arm sprouting from it seemed unchanged. The fourth grows a set of clawed hands. The first Bel Lahmu's claws burst into flames. The second explodes, splattering the other one and the Greater Lahmu with more mutagenic goop, causing both to seem revitalized as more limbs sprout from them. The remaining Greater Lahmu additionally grows an armored shell. Initiative Status

Viola, meanwhile, had said nothing. She was a bit occupied at the moment, having started the casting of a spell in response to the man's threats. Once he'd shown he wasn't actually a threat (even if he wanted to be,) she'd tried to cancel the spell before realizing she hadn't quite done that mid-cast before. A flustered look crept onto her face as wind swirled around her, Viola trying to dismiss the spell without just blasting a nearby tree or the like.

"BOMBS GOOD, BUT ONLY AS LAST RESORT. IDEALLY MACHINE IS MOSTLY INTACT, FOR ORIGINAL PURPOSE OR FOR LOOTING." She wasn't sure how far this man's abilities actually reached, though she supposed she could probe him about it. "CAN YOU MAKE ELECTROMAGNETIC PULSES? GOOD FOR TURNING OFF MACHINES WITHOUT DESTROYING VALUABLE PARTS."

Chelchis holstered her pistol and took a look at the weapon. Primitive, at least compared to the examples of weaponry she'd seen the Guardians using, but primitive and brutish had killed many a sophisticate. She glanced backward to see Roy arriving; hopefully he was half as competent as he claimed to be. The baron took a couple steps toward him before calling out. "HUMAN. YOU CLAIM COMPETENCE, YES? MACHINES HERE ARE MALFUNCTIONING, NEED TO BE DEACTIVATED. BIG MACHINE IN OTHER ROOM, PROBABLY DANGEROUS. YOU CAN HELP, NO?"

"Who are you calling a dog, cur?" Rhian strode up, planting her feet in the path of the enemy knight at the foot of the bridge. "I'll fight all of you right here, and I'll be the one left standing after the dust settles." S11 -
They were evading her fire. The specific strategem was one she recognized; now she knew which craft to aim for. "Takahashi engaging enemy interceptors." The strikers would be dealt with, but first she had to take out the threats to herself. A striker would have little chance of maneuvering out of her fire unsupported by interceptors. She flipped a single switch as she prepared to maneuver; normally, her main cannon would lock up if the targeting systems reasonably believed they would hit the Eclipse itself. . . but at this time, the risk was worth cutting out the potential interference, and it was unlikely her stray rounds would have any real effect on the ship unless it was too late. The primary cannon shot another round toward the Resanti craft, but Naomi had no expectation of it landing. She stayed her course for a moment, aiming at the same spot as a consequence as the round streaked through space. It was trivial to avoid, of course, and given the conditions surrounding her target, it would be most efficient to dodge. . . there. She sighted her target solution, twitched the nose of the craft just so, fired again, and fired once for good measure. The Resanti intercepted slipped easily around the first one, only for the second to clip the nose of the craft as it tried to jerk out of the way. The resulting spin made it impossible for the third round to miss, and it sheared straight through the interceptor, carving an arc through the hull. Structural integrity gone, the craft's momentum ripped it apart, leaving not much but shards of plastic and metal flying into deep space in fifty different directions.

Chelchis eyed the floating orb that called itself Morp. She was suspicious of the thing, if only because it was unfamiliar. Unknown. The Baron had never seen anything quite like it, and it was generally a safe assumption that things of that nature were dangerous. At "home," it could be any number of things. Tech from before the humans fell. Hive sorcery. New Vex model. Even something the Cabal's Psions whipped up. The orb wasn't likely from any of those, but that didn't mean it couldn't be of Darkness. The Darkness transcended the understanding of mortals, overwrote the laws of the universe itself; there was nothing that said it could not break free of any particular world. Still, these ponderings were unproductive. The one she followed, at least for now, had given them a mission, and the orb had not done anything overtly hostile or even notably suspicious yet. She followed it forward to the checkpoint, looking for computer systems to access. Getting into the security network would be useful; could provide warning of whatever was making that noise. Failing that, she could always strip the area of anything useful.

Jade shoots the Bel Lahmu for [53] damage. Isobel heals Soryn for [22] while LOTUS points out weak points on Gilgamesh. Liliya stabs the unshielded Greater Lahmu for [18] damage. Spicy HG attacks Lesser Lahmu C for [16] total damage. The Bel Lahmu dives at Soryn and deals [17] damage. Dackly somehow makes something with no apparent grasping appendages hold a spear, while Gozer gets ready to parry the same. Two Lesser Lahmu attack Jade while the third hits Lexiel, dealing [17] and [6] damage. The Greater Lahmu attempts to stab Liliya with its spear, and is promptly rebuffed by Gozer, who gains 9 more damage. The second is a bit more successful, dealing [20] damage. Soryn does some vampire stuff, and then kills Lesser Lahmu C with his sword. Lexiel summons a wall around Jade, promising to make Gilgamesh pay for it. The earth, no, the space around you seems to rumble. . . A final attack splashed against Caster's throne, and the ancient Sumerian hero-king finally stood up, expression gone from vague boredom to a twisted rictus of rage. "ENOUGH!" Chelchis let out another one of those heavily-filtered growls - or perhaps it was the closest thing to a sigh that what passed for the alien's respiratory system would make. "NOT ALL WHO SERVE THE DARKNESS DO SO KNOWINGLY." She tilted her head toward Deadlift. "YOU ARE RIGHT, HUMAN. SWORD LOGIC BULLSHIT, AS YOU SAY. BUT IDEA DOES NOT HAVE TO BE TRUE TO LEAD TO DESTRUCTION." Chelchis thought that being informed that she could well be serving an entity of incomprehensible malice and falling under its control eventually might've served to sway her, but. . . "SHOULD NOT HAVE EXPECTED MORE FROM HUMANS." And with that, the alien stalked off, taking what looked like a pistol from her bandolier as she did, heading toward the room Hirata had called from.

Make his fight on the hill in the early day
Constant chill deep inside
Shouting gun, on they run through the endless grey
On they fight, for they're right
Yes, but who's to say?
For a hill, men would kill
Why? They do not know
Stiffened wounds test their pride
Men of five still alive through the raging glow
Gone insane from the pain that they surely know -
"SWORD LOGIC. PHILOSOPHY OF HIVE. VIOLENCE IS POWER, POWER IS ENLIGHTENMENT, ENLIGHTENMENT IS VIOLENCE. FIGHT AND KILL TO BECOME SUPERIOR, GREATER THAN REALITY ITSELF. ACCORDING TO THEIR WIZARDS, ANYWAY. YOU SPEAK THE SAME THINGS TO ME, EVEN IF YOU DO NOT KNOW THE NAME, AND THAT IS WHY YOU MUST REPENT OR BE DESTROYED."
-
"IT IS ALWAYS TIME TO FIGHT DARKNESS." She crossed one set of arms as she returned to addressing Yoko. "YOU CLAIM TO NOT BE TOUCHED BY DARKNESS, BUT YOUR WORDS REEK OF TAINT. OF TWISTED WORDS OF WHIRLWIND AND ITS UNHOLY SWORD LOGIC. VIOLENCE IS MEANS TO END, NOT GOAL. YOUR REFUSAL TO TURN FROM THIS IS WHY I WILL KILL YOU." She nodded her head once, firmly, though she didn't make any moves to the end of carrying them out. "IF NOT ME, THEN ANOTHER. EVEN VILE MACHINE THIEVES UNDERSTAND THIS."
-
"COME TO GLOAT AGAIN, DARKNESS-TOUCHED?" Chelchis growled in Yoko's direction. feeling about on her person for her other sidearms. Her cannon had gone missing, and she had her suspicions as to who had taken it; they would have to have some words, her and Hirata. "A SINGLE DEFEAT DOES NOT MEAN THE END OF MY STRENGTH, AND YOU WOULD HAVE SUCCUMBED TO WOUNDS WITHOUT INTERVENTION. YOU WOULD BE WISE TO REMEMBER THESE THINGS."

"Right. Shouldn't we be waiting for miss Acting Commander to give orders?" Rhian didn't seem to actually plan on going along with her statement, though, as she moved toward the village and readied her bow. She shot a glare at the rival archer across the river. "Lucky I haven't got a longbow on me, or you'd not be standing for much longer." T11 -
The commotion caused Chelchis to stir after a bit. . . and immediately let out a loud roar, punch the mutant carrying her in the face (it hadn't had a chance to finish setting her down), and then teleport in a flash of blue to the other side of the room, dropping into a predatory fighting stance before somewhat awkwardly rising back out of it to a normal standing position. She looked around for a moment; the room seemed to be the same one she'd been knocked unconscious in earlier, if lacking in minions of Darkness for a moment. "WHERE DID THE VIOLENT ONE GO?"
-
Was this already going to be the end of her? She wasn't going to give mercy to a minion of the Darkness, and she certainly wasn't expecting any from such. She cursed herself for her incompetence; she should have evaded that attack, just pressed her advantage while she had it instead of trying to secure more. Still, Chelchis wasn't about to curl up and die without at least trying to take Yoko down with her; knowing she wasn't going to get the shot off in time, she took aim and fired her scrap cannon at Yoko anyway.
