  1. Chelchis examines the machinery. The Baron knew quite a bit about machinery; it shouldn't be incredibly difficult to discern something about its purpose. She kept her weapon readied, though, the small flame on the end flickering slightly as she poked about the room.
  2. Elias couldn't help but raise an eyebrow before pressing his expression into smoothness once again. He considered himself fairly adept at moving through a crowd; he hadn't expected their guest to somehow part it more easily than he had. Though, he supposed that could be chalked up to looking much more important than some random butler on a mission. "Indeed," he said, without stopping. A faint suspicion arose in the back of his mind; could this Augustus be part of whatever was going on here? Set to lead him off. . . though it was unlikely they would have planned around his interference, if this was a "they" at all. Besides, it would be a truly complex and bizarre plan if it involved Augustus himself pointing out what was happening. "I do hope to avoid this getting rough, but there is a risk it might." He glanced at Augustus again, watching for his reaction as the pair continued to follow after Pris.
  3. Chelchis made a low growling sound that her translator either didn't pick up or was programmed to ignore. "COWARDS AND FOOLS. I HAD AT LEAST EXPECTED THE VALOR I HAVE SEEN IN THE MACHINE THIEVES." With that charming statement, Chelchis proceeded down the hallway that echoed with the sounds of machinery, leaving Vratislav and the rest of the group to do what they pleased while she forged ahead.
  4. "THE WEAPON IS SHORTHAND. IT IS SYMBOL OF AUTHORITY, POWER. MUCH FASTER THAN TELLING HUMANS I WILL TEAR THEIR LIMBS OFF AND OFFER THEIR WRIGGLING TORSOS LIVE TO THE SERVITORS FOR REPROCESSING. NOW, DO YOU CARE TO CALL ME WEAK AGAIN, OR DO YOU CHOOSE TO DO SOMETHING MORE USEFUL WITH YOUR BREATH?" Almost solely to be obstinate, the weapon remained pointed at the man, though the alien's gaze turned slowly over Vratislav and Roy in turn.
  5. "HUMANS DO ONE OF TWO THINGS WHEN I THREATEN: WHAT I WANT, OR DIE. NEITHER IS PROBLEM TO ME." Chelchis gestured vaguely with her weapon, not lowering it yet. "WHERE IS MAINFRAME? AND WHY DO YOU HIDE IN A LOCKED ROOM?"
  6. "STUPID HUMANS. ARGUE ABOUT POWER AND HATE UNTIL YOU MAKE MOST POWERFUL ONE IN ROOM HATE YOU." Chelchis stood up from the floor warily, pointing her gun at the apparent robot that they had landed in the room with. He didn't seem to be a threat, but many things seemed innocuous until it was too late. "YOU. NAME THIS PLACE." She wanted to confirm that they were, at least, where they were intended to be.
  7. Chelchis nodded once, sharply, when shown the vision of her soldiers sleeping. It reassured her slightly, even if her sense told her not to trust this meddler in Darkness. The mission didn't raise many questions for her, as it was quite simple: breach complex, clear complex, loot complex. She hadn't become a Baron without doing more than a few of these things, though it seemed she preferred the computer largely intact rather than stripped down for parts and offerings. The disparagement of computers, though, drew her attention. "YOU ARE MISINFORMED. . . CREATURE." She wasn't actually sure what she was; this Yweniwa didn't appear human, nor did she take the form of any other species she recognized. "A MACHINE CAN GIVE LIFE, IF IT IS CARED FOR, AND DEEMS YOU WORTHY. I SHOULD INTRODUCE YOU TO PRIME, AND LET YOU TELL IT THAT IT IS MEANINGLESS."
  8. "Fuckall is what I found." He waved the remote control car about irritably. "At least you got something good. There's probably a back entrance to the place or something, so we can check out that Ferris wheel without the cops jumping on us." Still no sign of anything magical other than themselves, other than possibly his magical lack of anything convenient. What kind of cop pulls a gun on some kids, anyway?
  9. "IF ONLY WHIRLWIND WAS SO POLITE." Chelchis made the simple statement, and then turned to face the strange masked human, a vaguely threatening rumble preceding the harsh sounds of the alien's speech. "COSTUMES? YOU SPEAK NONSENSE, HUMAN. AND DO NOT INSULT ME. I AM BARON, NOT CAPTAIN, AND YOU WILL REFER TO ME AS SUCH." Strange beings, and what was probably a servant of the Darkness trying to get Chelchis to do her will. She didn't like any of this, but she was outmatched if she tried to fight all of them at once. Without knowing where her skiff was, or if it was nearby at all, she didn't dare make a move yet.
  10. "YOU ARE CORRECT. APPARENTLY YOUR WORLD HAS NOT ENCOUNTERED THE ELIKSNI. THE MACHINE-THIEVES, THE GUARDIANS, CALL US 'FALLEN.' I HAVE ALSO HEARD 'MONSTER.' YOUR KIND IS WISE TO FEAR." The alien's eyes glittered beneath her helm, shifting from the robed figure to Vratislav. It was hard to read anything in that look, obscured as most of it was and foreign to most onlookers besides. "YOUR WORLD HAS ENCOUNTERED THE WHIRLWIND? DARKNESS, AS THE MACHINE-THIEVES CALL IT, OR HIVE."
  11. Some sort of Whirlwind sorcery? A noxious cloud that sapped one's vitality was a frequent technique used by the Wizards that the divided Eliksni had encountered in their own pursuit of the Great Machine, and the lurid green energies, well, they didn't NOT look like the power of the Darkness. Still, it was far too much for Chelchis to resist at the moment, as it seemed to have entirely bypassed her shielding. She brought a third arm to stabilize the weapon, even if she couldn't keep it leveled at their mysterious host. Chelchis did not like the look or the sound of this person; the human(?) had the look of one who meddled with the Darkness, even if it was different from the Whirlwind. "I MAY CONSIDER YOUR REQUEST, HUMAN. ANSWER ME THIS, THOUGH; WHAT HAS BECOME OF MY CREW? MY SKIFF? SERVITORS NEED TRIBUTE, FALLEN NEED ETHER AND LEADERSHIP." Especially with no Kell and no Prime.
  12. The armored humanoid on the floor, which could be confused for a human if not for the extra set of limbs sprouting out of their chest, awoke with some thrashing and a sound that could only be described as a roar, but quiet. Four glowing blue eyes opened wide beneath their helm, and they scrambled to their feet, left arms quickly reaching back to grab a crude-looking weapon off of their back. A small flame resembling a pilot light lit up on the end of the weapon as it was pointed at each of the other occupants in the room in turn, before the strange individual locked their attention onto the one that had spoken first. A gutteral, inhuman language sounded from beneath the helm, with an understandable translation following in what seemed to be an artificial voice. The gun was raised and ready to fire at the individual in the chair, but the owner evidently opted for caution as they spoke, lowering the weapon slightly. "YOU MEET CHELCHIS, BARON OF HOUSE WOLVES. EXPLAIN THIS NOW."
  13. Kusuke blinked. The outfit was. . . something. It reminded him of home, a bit, but it also reminded him of two things Satomi happened to possess. He nodded somewhat distractedly when she explained the ideas behind the outfit - it made sense, though he was no tailor or armorsmith - but coughed with a somewhat strangled-sounding undertone when she showed off what could only be described to his eye as lacy thigh-highs, albeit particularly thick and durable ones. "Uhm, yeah. Yes, I've got everything I might need on me, already. Let's go." He spoke quickly, trying to move on from the topic of the clothing Satomi had whipped up. There was no way this was accidental, right?
  14. "If you say so." Kusuke couldn't prevent his dubiousness from showing in his tone. She seemed resilient enough, but she definitely seemed to be overtaxing herself. She was, in essence, doing the work of two people, while only eating and sleeping for one; it was an issue he'd had to deal with himself, and he doubted Satomi was nearly as used to it as he was. "Just make sure none of those cuts get infected or anything. Who knows what kind of nasty diseases that place is carrying?" He thought for a moment. "Though I do have to ask; even if you're fine, are you sure it's a good idea to go out with the siege this close? They've probably already got outriders in the area, and getting caught out wouldn't help anyone."
  15. It's Mysterious Heroine XX from Fate/Grand Order. OT: 6/10, is pretty good but not my style per se.
  16. 7/10, looks pgood but i prefer single or dual character focus :V
  17. Kusuke saw Satomi approach, and opened his mouth to speak; however, he didn't get a chance to say his piece before she started on her own. "I can probably help with that. Leo, on the other hand, is a lost cause. I tried to talk to him about how dangerous his experiments have been, and he spouted some nonsense about nonexistent natural laws and completely brushed me off. I feel like we're going to have to do something a bit more dramatic about him at some point, before it's too late." He eyed Satomi for a moment. Had she even slept since they'd gotten here? "You sure you're up to doing all of that at once? It's not like I'm giving you any extra energy."
  18. "Oh," Arturia replied, somewhat blankly. She wasn't quite certain how to respond to that. It wasn't what she'd been expecting, to say the least. Given what she'd seen, though, Arturia supposed that it made sense. "Gods, what the fuck have I gotten myself into here. . ." she sighed quietly, trying to think about how to deal with the situation. So Lilith had, accidentally or intentionally, killed her own mother. Taking what had happened thus far into account, she was leaning accidental, or at the very least in self-defense. Though maybe that was just being optimistic. "I see why you don't want her in the dorms. I just don't have any better ideas at this point, it's not like some superhero show where we've got a secure base to keep her in or something." She glanced back at Lilith, checking to see if the girl was stirring or not. Arturia hoped Miss Katherine had some kind of plan, if she could even trust her, and Lilith didn't lose it and attack her or something. . . The long-haired girl rubbed at her eyes, trying not to let her stress and frustration show.
  19. "Most people would have punched you for talking like that, and I'm still weighing my options." Kusuke turned and walked away as Leo sat down, trying to separate himself from the golemancer before he did something rash. The nerve of some people. . . His world was "absurd" or "impossible," apparently, and he was an utter loon for suggesting that not every world followed the same laws as Leo's, despite being one of the foremost experts on magic in his own world. It was fairly clear at this point that speaking to him was an exercise in frustration at best, which meant that they were going to have to deal with him some other way.
  20. "I hope it's not some cushy job. I didn't become a soldier to sit around babysitting farmers. Besides, we're supposed to be some elite unit, right? They'll at least have us squashing bandits or something."
  21. "I might already know," she commented as Knife left the room She adjusted her grip on the sleeping Lilith again; she wasn't exactly large, but Arturia was only a bit taller than average and not exactly noted for her physical strength. "At this point I feel like it might be too late to make a joke about getting into a strange woman's car, given, you know." She chuckled a bit at her non-joke to the air. Arturia took a deep, still-shaky breath before she hefted Lilith. "Up you go." And here she'd thought the day of the forest incident was stressful. She carefully made her way out of the darkened house, belatedly realizing she'd never transformed back. "It'd be weirder if I did. . ." Maybe Knife knew what was going on? Or she thought Arturia was really into cosplay. She didn't have too much time to ponder the question, though, as she got out of the building and made her way to the vehicle she assumed was Knife's.
  22. Rhian nodded at the bit about not giving up. "That we did. Though this isn't the first assignment I woulda picked, I guess it works out in some ways." She shook her head slightly. "Expected a lot of stuff growing up, though guess this wasn't one of them. . ." Rhian seemed to be talking to herself for a moment, before she apparently realized where she was. "Not that I spend a lot of time trying to predict the future. Do wonder what they've got for us next, though. More tests, or something real?"
  23. "Nothing that has happened yet has indicated that this world has some kind of magical safety net for experiments gone wrong. Sure, you're right, I can't assume that this world works exactly like mine. But it works just as well going the other way: why on Earth would you think that your rules applied here? You're experimenting with magics that seem to already be in the process of ending this world if not for that Dryad doing her best to contain things. Speaking of her, did you ever think to confirm with her that your delineation law actually exists in this universe, or did you just decide to throw chaotic magic around constantly and hope it didn't kill anyone?"
