  1. Lucine wandered about the compound, looking at the computers. It looked like they had some spare parts, and she had an idea. . . She vaguely remembered working with the little rat(?) guy, though on what she couldn't recall. Law, she thought his name was? She stepped up to the workbench where he was working, watching him for a moment before speaking up. "Hey, Law? How much do you know about building computers?"
  2. Lyssa, Vale 8.26. Primordial Beat on Slime.
  3. Kyou woke up in her room in a cold sweat. What the hell was that? She groaned as she flopped back down. That blue haired girl. . . why was she there? Maybe it was just the association in her mind, or something. It was just a nightmare, right? Like she didn't have enough scary things to think about while she was awake. Kyou grunted again as she rolled off of her bed, feet haphazardly hitting the floor. She was still sore from the other day; stress from piloting the not-robots aside, she'd gotten into a scuffle with Beverly, and the French girl hadn't exactly gone down in a heap. She felt bad about it, though, reflecting; Kyou didn't actually think Beverly had meant anything that bad. . . . She could still afford to be a bit less bitchy, though. Other than getting into fistfights, she'd spent the last few days alternating between moping and spending time with Satomi trying to take her time off of things. Kyou would never admit it aloud, but she was sort of relying on the girl's relative stability to prop up her own. Ahmed was nice enough but dealing with his own problems, Ranga didn't seem to want to talk to her much at all, Asuka was distant, and Beverly was. . . Beverly. It just wasn't right, waking up in a strange place without her mother around. Okaa-san. . . I'm sorry. Her father wasn't exactly doing well either, having known the woman for longer than Kyou (obviously) and missing a limb to boot. To make matters worse, she just plain didn't have anything to do. Security was a lot tighter around here, so she couldn't just disappear into the maintenance tunnels, and it's not as if her father was doing a lot of anything that she could tail him during. Her mind was left to wander down what dark roads it might choose. She sighed. If I don't get moving, I'm not going to be able to start. She hoisted herself up the rest of the way off of her bed, sloughed off her pajamas and put on what passed for clean clothes by her standards (they didn't slide out of her hands when she grabbed them.) Her father was still asleep, but she doubted she'd be able to return herself to such a state, so she decided to head across the hall. Satomi was probably busy with her dad. . . A knock sounded at Alma's door.
  4. The blow to her back sent her reeling - her trusty chestpiece (and accompanying back plate) seemed to have saved her from the worst of the damage, but something was definitely broken. A second blow came in, though, and she was ready for this one. Somehow, in her injured state, she managed to turn her dodge into a full-on backflip, spinning about in midair until she was upside down. Time seemed to slow down as she drew back her bow in the same motion - she swore she could feel the hand of the Goddess, nudging her own ever so slightly as she made the shot. The bow twanged, and an arrow flew straight toward one of her would-be assailants, sliding neatly between the man's ribs as if it belonged there. She landed in a partially crouched firing position, and loosed another, this one right into the man's eye. She wasted no time, however; the man hadn't even finished slumping over until she took aim at the one who'd dared to strike at them. "In the name of the goddess, I'll strike you all down!" E11, longbow axe boi
  5. Perlita casts a healing spell, allowing Mitsurugi, Gabriel, and Soryn to recover [11] HP. Mitsurugi attacks Saber with an Eruption, dealing [160!] damage as she blasts her with flame. Saber stabs at Snow with sword ablaze, dealing [10] damage and setting her on fire again. Magnum shouts something about formations at Soryn, granting him an extra turn. Saber attacks Snow again, this time for [14] damage. The first wyvern attacks Snow as well, claws scraping at her armor for [1] damage. Atton recommends a few courses of action for Mitsurugi and Perlita, increasing their DEX and SYN respectively. Snow rallies her allies, granting them all a whopping +1 RES for 2 turns. Snow herself doesn't seem to be affected, oddly enough. She recovers 7 HP. Lahmu B skitters up to Edmond and one of its sharpened limbs jabs at him for [8] damage. Saber duels with Snow some more, dealing [14] more damage. Gabriel hits Jeanne with a burst of nuclear fire for [68!] damage, setting her even further aflame. Soryn Impales Jeanne for [46] damage, and follows up with a Siphon for [23] damage, allowing himself and Mitsurugi to recover [17] HP. - - - It's basically impossible for you guys to lose at this point, so I'll stop the turn here, pending some Discord things. - - - Status Initiative
  6. "Well, we've got plenty of time. Actually. . . How fast do you think you could work if you could, well, work with yourself? I'm not an expert on siege weapons but I could shift you around a bit. Though I don't think it'd actually be that much faster from your perspective. We wouldn't have to worry about ammo afterward, either, since I could just reset the thing. What'd you have in mind?"
  7. "So, I need to get over that pond, which is a problem because it's full of what I'm assuming are dangerous slimes. Any ideas, Satomi?" She was pretty damned smart, maybe she could come up with something to crush them with rocks without causing a cave-in or something similar. "I can't really explain it, but I feel like there's something just on the other side of it that I could get to in short order."
  8. Hiroki wasn't sure how to feel. She sort of wanted to cry, but the half of her brain that wanted to was being screamed at by the other half for a variety of reasons. The usual ones, of course, were present; don't humiliate yourself in public, don't show weakness, et cetera (though it was hard to not look weak when your heavily armored mech had been turned into a visual representation of Hiroki's current emotional state before vanishing and dropping you into a crater), but alongside those was something else. Was that an honest compliment? What had Blink said about her? Blink seemed to like her, somehow, but you never knew. . . Should she be proud? She was angry and sad that she lost; she'd told herself that it simply wasn't something she was going to do any more, but she hadn't exactly lost to a casual competitor. She'd put up a fight against Lord, the strongest fighter in Tempest, pressed the woman to what looked like the edge. But she still lost. She took a deep breath, and slowly pushed herself to her feet. She felt like everything hurt; her mech was supposed to stop her from getting hurt or taking significant damage, not from feeling pain. She would push past this, despite that. She'd have to. . .
  9. Kusuke deposits his ore in the barrel. Free of his load, he continued to speak with Satomi. "Sounds like a plan. I ran into a place that was basically carpeted with living slime, looked like. Is anyone else around, or did they all find some hole to fall into or something? I don't actually know how dangerous those things are." He thought about the conversation she was having as he arrived. They needed stone, right? There was probably some way he could help this process, just had to figure out a good way to rig something up. . . The wheels turning in Kusuke's head were almost audible through his expression.
  10. Kusuke poked his head in. "Oh, hey Satomi. I dug up some ore earlier while I was exploring the mines, and I figured you'd be able to do something with it. Also was hoping to get some help exploring, since I ran into a huge mass of these slime things down there and I didn't particularly feel like getting digested over a hunch. Looks to me like copper, iron, and a metal I don't really recognize that well."
  11. Arturia sighed a bit. Go figure that the students were suffering because the administration had an agenda. And then there was Kaede. "Not a lot of people do, honestly. She's. . . different, I guess, and that puts off a lot of people. Never bothered me, though, and she's nice to talk to. I don't think I've ever seen her get this mad, though, this is weird. . ." Or seen her show much of any emotion. Please, Nayru, tell me she doesn't like me or something, that'd be a disaster for both of us. . . That was another odd thought, thinking of the goddesses. This was going to take a lot of getting used to.
  12. After an outing to the mines, which turned out to be simultaneously frustrating and productive, he returned with a destination in mind and a bit of ore. He looked around to try and find Satomi; she was a craftsman, right? She could probably find a use for the ore.
  13. "Sure. Suppose it'd be nice to hit something that wasn't people for once. Metal complains a lot less, usually. Probably won't have time for it any time soon though, really."
  14. "Dunno, honestly. I never really had any trouble figurin' out what I wanted to do with my life. If I had to pick one, though, I guess it'd be smithin'? That's kinda like fightin', right? You gotta balance out all this stuff but still make sure you're hitting the metal right, that kinda thing. Honestly I don't know that much about it, though I wouldn't mind learnin'."
  15. Lyssa, Vale 12-20 Attack Beowulf 10, again
  16. Kyou's grip on her father loosened. . . . What? But I. . . It felt like she'd been kicked in the stomach. When she saw her father, even if he'd lost an arm, she'd thought everything would be at least something resembling okay. They'd have a chance to get back together as a family, they'd get through all of this and help everyone else do it too, because that's what they did. That was what was supposed to happen, not any of the scenarios that had been playing through her head for hours. Especially not this one. She'd gotten in that damn monster machine, she fought the Angel, she didn't vomit all over the inside of it in the process, and she stopped herself from curling up into a ball of anxiety and stress this entire time. She did everything right, this wasn't supposed to happen. Kyou simply fell silent, dully staring into space in the general direction of her father.
  17. Hiroki couldn't suppress the pained squeak that sounded when the second punch landed; fortunately, the impact of the Knight on the wall did an excellent job of preventing her from making any more noise beyond trying to catch her breath. A veritable light show of warning and damage indicators flashed across her HUD, reporting that a number of her back jets had either been damaged beyond operability or had shut down due to compromised control systems. Great. There goes my agility. Her mech still stood, though, if only because she had been flattened against the wall; chances are she wasn't going to be able to stand up if Lord knocked her over again. I have to try to end this quickly. If she managed to collect herself before Lord attacked again, she'd blast the Mantle at her opponent, and then follow up with another barrage from her surviving guns.
  18. "I guess I get to practice my spells, then." Morgan spoke cheerily as they stepped forward, an old-looking tome appearing from somewhere beneath their cloak. "Can you let me know what this feels like, if you survive?" G9, Flux
