  1. "Um, Lucine Nadine Einzbern Yggdmillenia. And it's just a hoodie, I don't understand what's wrong with it. . ." "Didn't your mother tell you not to talk to strangers?" "I don't ha- Um, just shut up!" A second, muffled clang sounded as Lucine slapped Opal downward, a flustered expression on the girl's face.
  2. Give turns to Frostbrute and then recall whoever takes the most damage, I guess.
  3. Morgan had been slowly creeping toward the scene with Petunia as it had progressed, curiosity besting shyness as the town eccentric tried to get a view of the unusual sight. Something less than expected, though, was Morgan speaking up a second time. "I might be able to tell something, if it's shadowy figures. . . There's also a spell I have that might be helpful if all of them are like this."
  4. "Finally, here we go!" Lyssa thumped her gauntlets together, electricity already starting to arc between them, and then ran forward at high speed. She pounced on the nearest Beowolf with a wordless battle cry, smashing her fists into it repeatedly. Primordial Beat on Beowolf 7!
  5. Arturia rubbed her nose a bit as she replied. "Yeah, I'm fine. I should have been paying more attention. . . But yeah, I'm not sure why the headshot rule isn't a thing here." The way Kaede was acting was a bit unsettling, honestly. It was only a game of dodgeball (regardless of the fact that the shot would have easily shattered the glasses her mother had pressured her into abandoning in favor of contacts,) and she wasn't convinced that Riley had done it intentionally. . . . She wasn't convinced it WASN'T, either, but that was another matter. "What's her issue, anyway?" she said, gesturing vaguely at the person that'd nailed her with a ball.
  6. "I guess you'd know a lot about cooking reagents and such. . . Wait, does that mean you actually are a witch? If you are, I bet there's a lot I could learn from you." Morgan didn't seem to think the woman was being anything but serious. They shot a glance in Blake's direction; he'd been right, Morgan supposed. "Actually, there was this one spell I've been practicing, I feel like I'm just on the edge of figuring it out. . ."
  7. "Morgan. Some of the stuff I like to study up on is what people want to call witchcraft, so I was just curious." Did her eyes really change colors right there? That was interesting. Maybe she really was a witch, and it was some side effect of some magic she used. Morgan seemed to be oddly unaffected by Brinda's intimidating glare. "None of that really uses cauldrons much either, that's more of an alchemy thing isn't it? I could never really get that interested in alchemy. . ."
  8. "Are you really a witch?" Morgan said, somewhat abruptly. This was potentially the first time a few people gathered at the dinner had actually heard Morgan's voice, one of a somewhat quavery timbre and moderate pitch.
  9. Unleash Hell (deal 4SYN = 44 damage) on the DT Soldiers, or any other group of Dragon Teeth should they all be destroyed. 50% more damage to targets under 50% HP.
  10. "I hit things until they stop moving." It was hard to tell whether Lyssa was angry or just excited to finally be doing something; her tone seemed to indicate the former, but a lack of bristling or tail-lashing on the Faunus's part didn't . "My semblance helps me do that, lets me charge up when I attack. Embla can give you the details if you need, otherwise just show me what you need me to do." She nodded to indicate the taller woman, falling silent. Lyssa really was glad to be doing something other than cowering within a "safe" distance of Colony 9, but it was tempered with the frustration that they had taken this long to help.
  11. Isobel has Dackly perform what may or may not qualify as cannibalism, giving her a healing poppy for [20] HP. Lancer recovers from her stun. Bridgett begins charging her attack! Lancer leaps through the air, aiming a crushing attack at Isobel for [17] damage and [17 vs 13 - Fail] stunning her. Hikari casts a strengthening spell on Bridgett and Katsuo, increasing their offensive stats by 10 each. The first officer fires a spike of ice in Bridgett's direction, dealing no damage as the magic shattered against her barrier; however, the chill still affected her flight. Dackly blasts Lancer with her gaze, filling her with 23 Hate Stacks! Gozer stands about her protectively, anticipating attacks with Royal Guard. The first group of soldiers charges forth, all four of the remaining men attacking Samantha. Much to their chagrin, they may as well have been trying to stab a mountain to death, for all the effect their attacks had. Katsuo attacks one of the second group of soldiers, bashing at the man for [30] damage until the unfortunate soul collapses on the ground unmoving. Lancer charges at Friedhold with her lance. Her arm spasms at the last moment, but the lance still impacts him for [8] damage. She keeps traveling, lance glancing off of Bridgett's barrier. Officer B targets Isobel with an ice spike, dealing [11] damage and reducing her initiative by 2. Samantha punches Lancer right in her goddamn face for [91] goddamn damage, leaving a sizable impression both there and on the landscape. The second group of soldiers attempts to reform their ranks. Ritsu attacks the first officer for [21] damage, and tears up his armor a bit. Marisa summons another balor and orders this one to attack the same officer as Ritsu for [14] damage. The first one attacks Lancer once more for [13] damage. Friedhold disrupts the battlefield once again, stunning Lancer and causing the two groups of soldiers to stumble about. Morgan releases a wave of healing energy, fully restoring Isobel, Hikari, and Ritsu. Initiative Status
  12. "Thanks. I can't let goons like these show me up, right?" She'd had her suspicions about the maid, and it seemed that they hadn't gone unnoticed, with the way she was waving her "duster" about. "We'll get through this together, alright?" Before the maid had a chance to reply, Viola turned and blasted wind magic at one of her remaining assailants, refusing to budge from her spot as she blew the man off of his feet. Wind and autokill Recruit D
  13. Lucine shuffles over, looking to not be having the best time - though she's back to normal, in a plain hoodie and jeans. She rubs her head a bit before peering at whatever Vitor was messing with, where one of the madmen had struck her from earlier. "Um, by the way, Vitor, do you know if there are any leyline confluences around here? I want to test some stuff when we get a chance."
  14. "Hey, if you asked me. . . Bein' a captain isn't about bein' the best fighter, though. I mean, yeah, it doesn't hurt, but ya got more important things to do than stick people with yer fancy sword. I know I wouldn't have been able to keep these people in line, much less make sure we're still gettin' from place to place and doin' what we're supposed to do. And I probably wouldn't try unless they begged at my feet for me to take some kinda leadership position. You got me curious, though; what WOULD ya be doin' if ya weren't here?"
  15. "Ah, don't worry about. Not everyone can come from a nice, boring family. Sucks that they put ya on the spot like that, though. Right now I'm tryin' to decide if it'd be rude to offer to hit 'em over the head for ya. . . If ya can't tell I'm kinda spoilin' for a fight here, not that you gotta worry about that. But no, don't worry about talkin' too long. You got this far without managing to stuff your boot into it unlike a certain someone - who, by the way, I WILL turn into mush if he gets too close to me - and all ya did was answer the question." "Dunno how you do it, honestly, this captain-in' business. I couldn't handle it. 'Specially since you got all sorts a' other shit dropped in your lap."
  16. Morgan nodded vaguely in Renee's direction, silently beginning to eat while allowing the younger and somewhat more socially adept sister stand in for any need to talk on Morgan's part. Though they didn't stay huddled to themselves quite as long as one might expect; Morgan was quickly realizing that they were, in fact, quite hungry. Rude or not, Morgan was already beginning to make quite the dent in their food, with only the occasional furtive glance upward; Morgan still found themselves somewhat unnerved by the situation, the brightly lit room full of people. Imagining they were giant spiders seemed to help, though. . .
  17. "My family? Nah, they make shoes. Don't think my mother could guard ya against a mouse, really. Brothers and sisters went off to do all kinds a' stuff, 'cept the youngest, he stayed to keep the family business goin'. Cobblin's not bad, I guess, and I was decent at it, but like hell if I was gonna do it for my entire life. Can you imagine? Every day, you're just measuring people's feet and sewing leather together and all that crap. Noooo thank you. I'll take my idiot lizard and people shootin' at me all the time over that." She shook her head before taking another drink. "How 'bout you? Got some sorta long, proud guardin' lineage? Or maybe a long, proud, non-guardin' lineage, I know they like to grab lordlings and make 'em captains sometimes."
  18. "This stuff ain't that great, but I make sure to keep a variety a' spirits. I've got a saddlebag on Ecquis for it, specially padded and such. No luck if ya don't like any kinda spirits, though, the weaker stuff ain't worth carryin' around with me." She shrugged, and took another swig. "More fer me, I guess. Anythin' in particular you wanted to hear about, or just down here to chew the fat a bit? I haven't got anythin' to get to, unless you got someone for me to beat up or somethin." She grinned a bit at this last.
  19. "Bâbâ!" Kyou nearly knocked the man over, barely giving him time to kneel before colliding with him in a full-body hug. "I thought you were dead, I'm so happy you're okay!" Her expression faltered slightly; the man wasn't really 'okay,' missing arm and all. He was alive, though, and that was what mattered. She wanted to keep talking, but she found herself tearing up as she pressed her face into his shoulder, blubbering mostly-unintelligibly. Eventually, she managed something to the effect of her being so worried about him and the rest of the family, though it took several attempts and piecing it together from such.
  20. "Not a ton a' interestin' ones, gotta admit, most of 'em would just be me hitting people over the head until they behave. They got me doin' all sorts of courier work all the time, though, 'cause Ecquis can deal with wind a lot better than those prisshy-ass pegasi. Lets me see some interestin' faces. Like this one family, I can't for the life a' me remember what they did, but they had my head spinning when I was completely sober. Met their daughter first, or who I thought was their daughter. That boy looked like his father, who I thought was the mother, and I thought the mother was the father. Confused the hell outta me, let me tell ya, but once they got around to it they were nice people. Well. Not the son, he was an ass. Why was I there again. . . ?" She frowned, shaking her head for a moment. "Whatever. You want some, by the way?" She shook the bottle in her hand at Madante.
  21. "Oh, well that's good. This is rum, not really anythin' special," she said, holding up the bottle in her hand. "Cheap, though, and good for the price. Bottle down there's some whiskey. I recommend startin' with this, 'less the guy who sold me the stuff down there was lyin'. That's a whiskey, and some strong stuff. Smells like the inside of a horse's ass, honestly, but 's not bad tasting if ya can get past that, and it'll get ya drunk as a skunk in a heartbeat." She peered suspiciously at Madante for a moment. "Yer not gonna make me get rid 'a my stash, are ya? Dunno how many officers I've had that wanted the stuff around, nevermind how much they got stuffed wherever the hell."
  22. "Don't see why not. Probably kill myself tryin' ta finish all this off by m'self, and 's not like I'm busy." Somewhat belatedly, she blinks. "Wait, is this some official business, uh, Captain? 'Cause I thought we were gonna have some down time and I'm gonna need some time ta sober up if you want me doin' anythin' productive."
