Kusuke stepped outside of the bus, stretching out a bit. At some point, he'd changed from his initial hoodie (now in less-than-pristine condition) to one that was a bright red. The front had only a single symbol, a Japanese character in a blue circle. The back had a stylized design of some samurai-like warrior, all in black and white, with a blade that seemed to be nearly as tall as he was. "Can we try not to piss off everyone we meet in this world this time?"

"They want me to be more social. Something about needing connections and people skills to move up in the world. Not that they care that much any more, but at least I can say I tried and they'll leave me alone with my books and my bugs." Morgan fidgeted with the ancient-looking book in her hands awkwardly, turning it around, opening it and closing it, that sort of thing. They drew back slightly, with a reproachful look. "But whenever I show up to these things, people just stare at me until I leave." -
[IC] ANKL. Part I: Awakening
Chevaleresse replied to Shamitako's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Arturia made a halfhearted attempt towards obtaining one of the balls in the center, but she wasn't the quickest by any means and she was more concerned about not getting hit by the girls that were. After she (predictably) failed to obtain a dodgeball, she drifted backward toward Kaede again while trying to keep half her attention on the other team. "Anyway, yeah, it's a fantasy series. I'm on the fifth book so I can give you the first couple." -

Morgan visibly flinched at being approached again, though they seemed to calm down a bit upon realizing that there were no accusations being made. Yet. "Huh? Um, I had a couple reasons. . . The food is supposed to be really good and I forget to eat dinner sometimes, so I thought coming would be a good idea. And, uh, I thought it would get my parents off my back for a while. . ." Morgan had other reasons for attending, too, but didn't particularly feel like voicing them at the moment; they had thought that it might be a good chance to try and actually talk to somebody, but as soon as Morgan had arrived, they were overwhelmed with nervousness and found a corner to huddle in. Which, of course, just led to nobody wanting to talk to them. -

"Umm, hi, thank you. . ." Morgan said, rather hollowly. Everyone was staring at her. Could they please get the food out faster? This crowd already made her nervous and she'd spotted at least two people staring at her and she wasn't sure where Renee was and she just wanted to eat and leave. . . Morgan shrunk further backward into their corner, in an ill-fated attempt to hide from the stares of the rest of the people in the room. "Please just leave me alone. . ." She did feel a small comfort, though, when she peeked over and Renee seemed to be talking to one of the people who had been staring at her; presumably about said staring, judging by her expression. -

There was one person huddled up near one corner of the room, a familiar yet still strange to most of the townsfolk. One Morgan Vaughns, known as the resident town eccentric and most certainly more of a book person than a people person, huddled together with their book and waited for the food to show up, occasionally mumbling something mostly to themselves. The Vaughns themselves were generally not particularly popular among the townsfolk, save for perhaps Renee, the prized child of the family; they liked to pretend that they were better than their neighbors, and forget that the individual looking nearly fearfully out at the rest of the gathering shared a last name and a home with them. -

"It's a book." Lucine continued to frown at the object in question as she opened it up and leafed randomly through the pages. "I don't even recognize the alphabet it uses, though. I wish I did, because the stuff it has in here looks super interesting." She held the book open, showing the diagram in the back. "And isn't this the thing we're riding around in right now? I wonder if the person who made this thing left it behind. . . although wasn't he supposed to be some super mean guy?" -
"Well, I don't know about rivals, but I wouldn't mind a partner to study with. Once we get out of this hole, though." Something tells me I'm going to need to learn a lot about how to use magic in a fight. . ."

"I don't know. I wasn't really looking for any hardships, the hardships just kinda showed up on their own. I just wanted to be a good enough student that the Archsages would teach me." "We can still compare notes though! I always wanted to learn as much as possible."

Kusuke similarly took a very deep breath before replying. "If nobody ever points out that you made a mistake, you'll never know you did so. I'm not going to apologize for being angry about nearly being incinerated, and I'm not going to let anyone guilt trip me over it. It's not going to work. If you want to be angry at me, get mad that I fucked up trying to rewind her and somehow managed to pick out a timeline that was even worse. But don't bitch me out because I don't feel like having my ass set on fire and I'm willing to say it out loud."

"Oh. I'm Lucine Nadine Einzbern Yggdmillenia." She stood up, taking the bundles of cloth and laying them out over the circle. "I think we do have beds somewhere, but I don't know where we stored them and I didn't want to try to lift one all by myself back here. I always slept over a magic circle back home, so I figured this would be a good idea." She stretched out a bit, blinking a couple more times. "I think I got enough sleep, though." She idly waved at Contagion, who had. . . apparently been sitting in the power core room the entire time? The girl frowned; had he just. . . set up in there while she was asleep? That was a little creepy. . . She stood up and walked around the room a bit, a slightly frustrated expression playing across her face. She still hadn't the faintest idea of how this thing worked, and it was irritating that she hadn't even begun to crack its secrets. It was basically an oversized Mystic Code, after all, and she was supposed to be good with those. After a moment, though, something caught her eye, an odd shape that didn't seem to quite line up with the hull. She walked up to it; was that a book? -
"It's Viola. Viola Sonnen." She frowned. "And I just said I haven't actually used a lot of magic at all, whether it's for fighting or not. I didn't get to study it for very long until they brought me to this terrible place, and my dad always wanted me to focus on the practical stuff anyway. He's an old soldier, he's just like that."

"I didn't 'stand impotently by,' I worked my ass off to try and stop a mistake that wasn't even my fault. And when I tried to stall for time, someone shot a gigantic fucking wave of fire at me, which very nearly killed me or crippled me for life. So eat shit, hypocrite. At least I made a fucking attempt." He turned to Mirri. "Is she, though? She hasn't said a word, and I question the judgement of anyone who thinks that firing super-powerful beams when you have teammates between yourself and a target. That's not just inexperience, that's utter carelessness at best. And, for the record, the reason I got a sun laser to the face was BECAUSE I was trying to fix my fuckup. So thanks for trying to guilt me, but you're going to have to try harder than that." Not that Kusuke didn't already feel incredibly guilty about the incident already.

"Yeah, no, I'm so sorry for trying to undo the fuckup and stall for time. I should have spent my time throwing my knives at my goddamned teammates, right? Give me a break. Not like you've got much to say yourself." Kusuke finally turned to look at him. "Last time I checked, blinding and almost incinerating your teammates wasn't considered the epitome of good teamwork. And neither was sitting back until the last minute to try and take equal credit for a victory after said teammates fought for their lives. But I guess the definitions in your world are different."

"That would be Calvera," Kusuke said, almost as if through clenched teeth. "Somatotrope had some help, but she did the heavy lifting there. It was great, let me tell you."

[IC] TFW Chapter 2: Wrath
Chevaleresse replied to Shamitako's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
It took a few more moments for Ice to reply as she found a good spot to stop the incantation; the spell was designed to be continuous and chant-like, so it could be terminated in the middle without ill-effects; however, it still had proper stopping points and dangerous ones. "I can," she said simply, most of her focus still on the spell. Her eyes flicked upward from the girl's hands to her face, briefly. "Let's continue in the meantime." Keeping Tensi focused on something other than the gloves would likely help. "Have you been doing your anger management exercises?" After she finished, she started up more of the same chant, weaving the duplicate spell together with the first. -
"Soma- Julie's God Eater test went wrong. It interacted weirdly with her power, and she turned into some kind of super-powerful Aragami." Kusuke flopped down in a seat, staring firmly at the floor. "And then I managed to make it even worse than it already was, so there's that. At least I'm not blind," he said, with a venomous glance at Calvera before he turned to his intense study of the bottom panel of the bus.

Lucine sat up a little groggily, rubbing at her eyes as she turned to the source of the noise. "Eh. . . ? Oh. Um, thanks." She blinked a few times, and then frowned at the man; she was fairly certain she didn't recognize him. "Who are you? I don't think I've met you before." She didn't want to sound ungrateful, but she had just been woken up by a stranger, and her luck with strangers recently had been a bit unreliable. Maybe they're nice guys with big guns that they unfortunately won't let her shoot, maybe they're mean guys with big guns that intend on giving her a very detailed display of how they work. -
"Uhh. . ." Viola responded eloquently. "I'm not really a grand sage or anything like that. I've used more magic in the last few hours than I have in the rest of my life. I don't have, um, a grand thesis or anything, I was just trying to study so I could eventually go learn from the best."

Kusuke sighed. "It's all we can do for now. No need to leave people behind and get into more trouble. We'll find our way back here and correct our wrongs when people aren't trying to kill us for something out of our control. If we stay, we're going to end up fighting God Eaters, and potentially causing divides in them if some people think that killing us is wrong. There's not much we can do at the moment."

"That's better, at least." The note in his voice was rather frustrated and, well, defeated-sounding. "So Somatotrope's gone. We have caused an impressive amount of damage to a group that was at least nominally friendly to to us. And, because of the first thing, we've actually created an existential threat to this world, instead of actually preparing it. Spectacular." He resisted the urge to just flop down on the ground, shuffling after the group. "And I guess we're just going to walk away." Great. Not only do I miss the chance to get the actual strength I was looking for, I took something bad and made it ten times worse. Awesome. I'm great at this hero thing, huh.
