"I. . . see." She wasn't sure if she should mention that she could create water with fairly little effort. She did, however, recognize the cant to the strange being's voice, and decided that further questioning the issue would likely lead to a rant about the virtues of water at best. "Give me some of the notes on that Shape Solid spell, then, and a promise that you'll be careful with this thing. I don't like the feeling it gives off, and I'm pretty familiar with stuff that gives off bad feelings." Marisa trades Leo the seed.

"I don't mess with priests much. Most people consider what I do sacrelige. . . Even if their religion doesn't even mention demons, weirdly enough. It's not even restricted to demons, yknow, they're just the easiest and most morally acceptable targets. Anyway. Thanks for the knowledge - I was pretty sure this wasn't made using particularly kosher methods in the first place - and the advice. Here's your mask." Vitor gains the Stone Mask! ". . . Can I ask what it was, at least?" She seems confused by the virulent reaction.
-
Marisa frowned. "I've had this thing for years. Yeah, sure, it's a little offputting, and I'm pretty sure I heard it scream once, but it's not like there's a such thing as knowledge that's inherently bad. Bad people, maybe, but contrary to popular belief I'm not one of those. And, uh, no gold ring that I can remember." Her expression changed to one that was rather more annoyed-looking. "Are you actually going to tell me the history behind it, or just that I should throw away my primary means of blowing up people trying to stick various bits of sharpened metal in me?" She handed the core over to Blue in exchange for the pen parts. Blue obtains the Crystalline Core! "If you could be so kind, what about a second pen and whatever you can do with this thimble?" She pulled the objects in question from her bag once again.

The time manipulator barely avoided the strike of the blade by teleporting out of the way (or got hit and simply jumped back to try again - only he knew). He glanced backward for a moment to note the appearance of Mirri and Frigus, and then sprung into action once more. Kusuke darted behind her(?), abruptly appearing and obviously not making anything personal. He reached toward the monster Somatotrope had quickly become, and focused as hard as he could, attempting to send her back in her own timeline once more and hopefully recovering Somatotrope the parahuman, not Somatotrope the rapidly growing angry armored monster.

[IC] ANKL. Part I: Awakening
Chevaleresse replied to Shamitako's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Arturia took a deep breath, not really knowing how to begin. Katherine was going to think she was a total nutcase. Not that she was certain she wasn't. "Uhh, something. . . weird, happened on the way to grab those two. I think I might be hallucinating or something, so I figured I should tell somebody." A large part of her was worried that this would be dismissed as some sort of cry for attention. As if Arturia wanted anything other than for people to largely stop paying attention to her. "I ran into this weird little girl. Had a sun hat with a dead flower in it, and red hair. She said some weird stuff and acted like she'd met me before, and then I. . . passed out or something?" She cursed herself for sounding unsure. At least she didn't have a reputation for pranks or jokes. "And then I had a . . . I don't know if dream is the right word, where I met Layla. We introduced ourselves, and then suddenly I was back on the trail. The weird girl said something about 'the face of darkness' and then vanished into smoke." She exhaled, having finished her tale. "Please tell me this is just some weird prank and that I don't have to go to a mental institution." -
"I'm going in." And so Kusuke went in, with a brief and faint distortion around him and his destination providing a split second of warning before he appeared in the testing chamber. He had no idea what was about to happen, if Soma would somehow consciously or unconsciously resist, but he was pretty sure she was still alive, but dying. He tried to rewind Soma as he physically pulled her backward, attempting to set her body back to some point before the test had begun and gone horribly wrong.

"That's. . . fascinating, actually. I know an artificer or three that would love to take a look at this while you actually did it, but I can't exactly take you to them. . ." She trailed off, realizing where she was standing. "Or, I could, if I figured out how to operate this thing, but you probably have better things to do than have some mage watch you do this fifty times in a row. Plus one of them lives in Ravnica and I'm not going back there unless it's an emergency. Anyway. That's proof enough for me, and I could use an infinite pen and a spring to launch people around with. Sound like a fair trade to you?"

[IC] TTG Interlude: Virtue
Chevaleresse replied to Shamitako's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
I can do this. This is just another fight. She hasn't even hit me yet. Hiroki was finally getting into flow, her breathing settling into a rhythm; not a calm one, but a rhythm nonetheless, despite the sweat that had begun to stream down her brow from the Mantle. Targeting systems alerted her to the incoming impact (along with an almost annoyed-looking error message about the point defenses being unable to attempt an intercept due to being otherwise occupied in maintaining her shield. She spun about, in a smaller arc this time, trying to narrow her profile and cause Lord's punch to whiff or hit a glancing blow. -
[IC] TFW Chapter 2: Wrath
Chevaleresse replied to Shamitako's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Ice leaned forward slightly, as much as it was possible to do so in the chemical bath she currently occupied. "It's okay, Tensi." The glow forming on the girl's gloves didn't escape her; that and the fact that steam was rising off of the girl were indicators that her body temperature was far, far above a healthy state already. A part of her was irritated that she hadn't managed to note any signs of heating yet. She pressed the button Genie had given her firmly, before continuing. "Let me move on to another question. How do you feel about your name? I'm listening, regardless of whatever else I may be doing." Her mouth continued to move after she finished speaking to the girl; she was quietly intoning an incantation, low enough to be drowned out by the overworked cooling system Tensi wore. She cast two spells; the first, a simple, one-word "Frost" spell that coated the target in a paper-thin layer of ice; not nearly enough to be hazardous even if it were accidentally mistargeted, as she focused on the two spots that were turning red. The second was longer, and quite a bit more complex; it leeched heat from the target directly, and therefore could be very dangerous if mistargeted - hence the addition of a longer incantation for control, here, as the mage wasn't here to kill the girl. Fortunately, it was the sort of spell that began to take effect when partially cast. -
"Do you mind an IOU on that? I don't have anything on me in particular that I need identified, but that's definitely a service I could use later. Though I've always wondered where this thing originated. . ." She pats a large, heavy tome attached to her waist by a sturdy chain; it was bound in what appeared to be pale leather, and was a bit unsettling to look directly at. "Is this a one-for-one deal, or can I expect more than one trace?" "If it works as advertised, then that's fine for me. I could always use better spells for direct offense, and I have artificer friends that might like a look." Sha'Tith loses Worn Blade. Sha'Tith gains Teleportation Pearl! Marisa digs in a pocket for a moment, and out comes. . . a fairly simple ballpoint pen. "How about one of these? You can unlock it, and then we'll see if it's worth an actual trade. Though this thing is pretty rare and expensive, so it'd be nice if you could make a strong offer."

"Aren't you one of those 'honor and glory' types? You're going to turn your nose up at other chances to gain more power so you can die on an operating table, without so much as a single shot from your gun or a swing of your weapon?" Kusuke was visibly irritated by the accusations of weakness - mostly because he was aware that, on some level, it was true. He had a gimmick, but he simply couldn't deal with so many different things if that failed to let him bypass them. "And last time I checked, we captured that lizard man. Someone who was a major threat to even organized peacekeeping forces, let alone a random group of people who didn't even know each other's names. But no, go commit suicide. If that's all it takes to get you to give up then chances are I couldn't help you much either; there aren't many people possessed of both a Drive and a faint heart."

[IC] TFW Chapter 2: Wrath
Chevaleresse replied to Shamitako's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Ice scribbled down a couple notes. "Could you describe those in more detail? Start with the nyctophobia. Is it a universal fear of dark places, does it always happen or only some of the time, et cetera. Talk about it as much as possible, as long as you feel comfortable doing so." Ice's tone was soothing and calming - or, at least, it was to her. The mage was not exactly the most expressive individual and tended to come off as robotic at the best of times. -
[IC] TFW Chapter 2: Wrath
Chevaleresse replied to Shamitako's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Ice noted the girl's tension. Fear of medical checks? Of herself, perhaps? She didn't generally think she was intimidating, but she also realized she wasn't particularly approachable either; maybe she was just anxious at talking to a stranger? "Hello, Tensi," she said, with some approximation of a smile. "I just have a few questions to ask you. The first one is a list of symptoms. Have you recently felt extreme sadness or depression, loss of interest in activities, a craving for blood, nyctophobia - that's a fear of the dark - claustrophobia, or a panic attack?" If the girl wasn't already in the midst of the last, anyway. -
"Oh, yeah, definitely. That's pretty handy." She pulled the maw - much larger than anything that should reasonably be fitting into the pocket she stuffed it - out and presented it to Freya, taking the note and causing it to vanish into a different pocket in a blink. Marisa loses Wyvern Maw, gains Spell Notes: Death's Lock. Freya gains Wyvern Maw! "Alright, who else wanted something? I've still got more crap to peddle. You guys also need to decide between the mask and the tome."
-
"I gotta say I agree with Frigus. I was willing to do this because, well, danger coming from one source at a predetermined time? I can dodge that at least three different ways. All three of which I planned on using, by the way. I can't pull you back from the dead, though, and I don't think anyone else here can either. And it's not like we haven't got other ways to power up. I was planning on scouting for a kiln once I get the right parts - if I'm right, you could possibly get a Drive from the mere act of it being opened up."

"Damn." He'd been ready to brave whatever tests were in store for them; it was frustrating, to say the least, to not even have the option of doing so. "You don't mind if I come along, do you? I can at least try and reverse whatever's killing people off if things go wrong."

Kusuke nodded. "Sorcery exists in my timeline, but it's not a particularly common gift. I wonder. . ." The bounty hunter took on a thoughtful expression for a few moments before shaking his head, seemingly bringing him back to the present conversation. "Sorcery being, specifically, the kind of magic that you do without using a Magic Formula. Magic is. . . complicated, and some people just can't do it no matter how hard they study. I've never had the time to pick it up myself. Fortunately, Magic Formulae make it a little more accessible for everyday life. Maybe in your timeline it's just a more widespread talent? Or the method has just been improved that far. . ." Another pause, another expression of thought. "Remind me to compare notes with you about these 'Heartless' and the Black Beast."

"That doesn't sound too far removed from what I know of. A soul where I'm from holds all of the information about who and what you are, everything that's ever happened to you, plus the current state of your body. I think, anyway. A Drive is from a strong soul pulling the Blue toward itself and borrowing some of its power and knowledge; it's theorized that the Blue is where all souls travel after their bearers die. Assuming that something doesn't stop them from getting there." He frowned. "A Drive powers itself with Magic Element, or seithr. If there's no seithr nearby, it uses your soul. You can recover from this sort of tiny usage, but Drive overuse can kill you or drive you insane. Which is probably more likely in timelines that haven't been connected to the Boundary, due to the lack of seithr present."

Kusuke shrugged, and kept walking. After a moment or two, he turned his head toward Frigus. "You know, while I'm resolving the whole soul misunderstandiing thing, I think there's some conversation we should have on that. You and I both seem to be well-informed on the matter, but what we both 'know' doesn't actually match, so I figured it might be worthwhile to compare notes."

Kusuke shook his head. "Not much more than what he said. High lethality rate. Something to do with synchronization with one of those God Arcs going wrong, if I had to guess." He sighed, and pushed himself up from his seat. "I hope nobody else's planning on taking these; I'm the one who can cheat death here. Making other people's wounds disappear is one thing, but bringing someone back is another one entirely." The time traveler started to walk out of the room and toward the labs he'd been asked to report to. "I tried to, once. I ended up killing a guy who was wanted for robbery and murder; he pressed me and the safest option was to off him rather than try and subdue him without hurting him. I tried to grab and pull him back, and. . ." He shrugged. "Nothing happened."

Kusuke practiced slicing things up with his power for a bit, and the results were. . . thoroughly unsatisfying. Though the failure itself gave him some ideas for the future. There wasn't much to do, though, until they came back with the parts he requested. He could always start snooping around, he supposed, but he would feel uncomfortable doing so; he had no beef with this Fenrir organization, though he did wonder how long that would last. Eventually, he figured that scouting out for information online might be helpful, and more importantly a way to alleviate his boredom.

Kyou shrugged. There wasn't much to complain about, from her angle. "It tastes fine to me." Not that she'd taken more than a bite or two. Her stomach was still unsettled enough from earlier that it made eating difficult; she'd had to do her best not to vomit already, though perhaps getting some food down might actually help to settle it. She idly wondered if the other kids might be experiencing it differently because of some cryo-sleep aftereffects or something. It was still odd to think about. . . everyone here was from a century ago except for her.
