  1. "You guys could have at least repainted this thing. . . Anyway, what do you want out of us, then?" He idly watched Satomi out of the quarter of his eye. It was a little odd seeing somebody get excited over a schoolbus, but she had apparently grown up in somewhere resembling feudal Japan, so he supposed it was pretty wondrous for her.
  2. Lucine fiddled with her weapons a bit, sliding two cards into it and watching the transformation of the two guns when her new Archer card was loaded. Her expression showed that she clearly didn't want to be here, but still she prepared. "Okay, Opal, I think it's time for you to take over again," she said. A moment after speaking, she lapsed into that nearly mechanical stiffness from earlier, in both her posture and voice. "Combat protocols loading. . . marking enemy targets. . . highlighting allies. . . combat protocols initialized. Bombarding priority targets." She dropped into a firing position, her guns almost parallel and locked onto one target - the enemy sniper. Three blasts sounded from the barrels of the things, sending three bolts of hostile magic in the direction of the Talon marksman. Big Blast, all three hits targeting the Sniper. Forgo the bonus attack from Elphet Style (as it is melee.) Loadout
  3. Hoshiko, for once, wasn't shouting about something - she actually looked somewhat uncomfortable. "Is there anything to do other than go to this party?" Large groups of people still weren't exactly in her comfort zone - not that she'd admit it out loud.
  4. "We're going to want to make sure all of that metal gets contained somehow. Not sure how we can use it yet, but I'm sure we can figure something out. Stuff's a little dangerous to just leave sitting around, though." He leaned back in a stretch, trying to cover slighty how tired he was feeling himself. Gotta watch that. . . "So what's our next move? Coffee? Naps? Punching some more Nazis?"
  5. "I have no idea why this keeps happening, but I don't think you're going to end up blowing anything up. Just let me help you out for a sec. . ." Give 4 turns to Satomi.
  6. Kyou couldn't help but pace nervously. She still hadn't received a message from her parents OR her brother. The prospect of food offered a brief distraction, but the way her stomach was heaving, she wasn't sure trying to get anything down was a good plan. She was tired and still a bit shaky, but that didn't stop the relentless motion back and forth across the room. Some part of her told her this was pointless, that pacing back and forth worrying wasn't going to do anything but degrade her own health, but still she continued to move, almost ignorant of her surroundings.
  7. "Huh. Sounds just like a person back home. There was a human - I guess some people thought she was part of some kinda secret youkai-fighting ninja clan? - that supposedly guided other people back and forth through the Forest of Magic to Eientei to get medicine and such. I never had a reason to go myself, though, so it's not like I ever met her." She shrugged. "Personally I think that if someone was actually a ninja, nobody would have any idea. Unless it's one of those hide-in-plain sight things. I dunno, I'm not really an infiltrator, I just punch stuff." She grinned a bit. "Don't suppose there are any positions around for 'professional thing-puncher?'" she asked jokingly.
  8. Lucine was rather. . . wide-eyed, at the description of what they were facing, and not in the "very excited" way. But I guess Doctor Doom thought I was a good pick for this, right? And it's not like I was really doing a whole lot before. . . She somewhat tentatively raised her hand before speaking. "I could go with the team that's going after the magic artifact. I could try and learn more about it if I got close, and Opal should be able to keep me pretty safe either way."
  9. "You two know each other?" Shinobu asked the mostly-rhetorical question as she walked into the establishment, glancing around quickly to assess her surroundings. "And, to add to her question," she jerked her head in the direction of Suguri, "do you know where people find places to stay around here? And jobs, since I guess I'll be needing money and probably won't be able to just sell gourd sake to everyone."
  10. "I don't think anyone exactly anticipated that happening. And, hey, it did a pretty good job of getting rid of all this scrap. Don't start freaking out until someone's dead, at least." He rewound his clothes to a state where they weren't waterlogged. "I'm going to go see if I can help Proditor out; I'm not really sure we want to try that again. . ." Kusuke attempts to dry off, and then donates his extra turn to Proditor via Doubleshift Another. Loadout
  11. "Kuso-!" Kusuke cursed before dropping beneath the water; he came up, waterlogged and irritable but unharmed, to see the devastation his attempt had wrought. "That's never happened before. . . damn it. Shit, shit shit shit. . ." That kind of blast, judging from the damage the other boats around had taken, had probably not left the people gathered around the bay alone. He focused for a moment, and was suddenly on land, albeit in a swimming position. After standing, he rushed over toward Satomi. "Here, just give me one moment. . ." He placed a hand on her shoulder again, and then sent her body back through time a few moments; i.e. when it didn't have a gut wound caused by flying shrapnel. Blink to shore, Recall Satomi. Loadout
  12. Kusuke felt that feeling one gets in their gut when they know they've screwed up, when a situation falls into their lap and it is undeniably their fault. He sighed again. "Damnit. . ." He tilted his head backward with his hand wiping across it as if he was wiping sweat, and then placed the other on Satomi's shoulder. "Okay. Look. I fucked this up. Without getting into a long story. . . I assumed you thought like someone I know. A bad person. I didn't even think about how. . . I guess you've just never heard otherwise, ever. I got angry, and I spoke without thinking." He hadn't really realized how rough it had been for the girl. All the variance in tech and magic and such just hadn't fazed him; it's not like there wasn't plenty of both flying around back home. And. . . her belief that foreigners didn't have souls didn't exactly go the direction he'd assumed it did. "I just want to say again that I'm sorry. . . . You're still the one that brought up suicide, though." He realized roughly half a second after the statement that it proooobably wasn't the best time to make jokes about. . . anything really, but especially suicide.
  13. "What I'm saying is that there are a lot of people who've died defending beliefs they thought were right and good. And they've put plenty of other people in the dirt because of it, too. And for the record, I don't actually think you OR your clan should die. You're the one that decided that ritual suicide needed to come up, I just got caught in the heat of the moment. I'm sorry. I'm literally trying to apologize for that right now, because it was way the hell over the line." He took a deep breath. Keep calm, Kusuke, you're trying to patch the situation over right now, not make it worse. "What I'm not apologizing for is telling you off for refusing to admit there might be something wrong with trying to dehumanize everyone who isn't born in a certain country."
  14. "Useful information is useful information." Kusuke headed toward the boats in question, waiting for Satomi's directions before he started using his new trick on them. He sighed after a few long and awkward moments of silence. "Look, about yesterday. . . I'm not going to take back everything I said. To be blunt, thinking only people from your homeland have souls is a pretty gross way to go about it. But, uh, wow this is probably the worst apology anyone's ever made. . . anyway, the whole 'mountain of corpses' comment, that was way over the line. Especially the way you took it; that's not what I was trying to say and I shouldn't have said it in the first place." Temporal Slice with Satomi's assist.
  15. "Makes sense. We were going to ask, uh, what was their name, Saki about that, right?" Shinobu turned her head toward Mokou. "Think that's where you were leading us before we got whipped away to kill each other, right? May as well head out, especially if we don't get any actual warning as to when it's gonna happen."
  16. Kusuke heads to the boat graveyard, to see how he can help out. Kusuke, to prepare for this, attempts to learn the trick Temporal Slice by practicing on some random, easily-accessible debris. Temporal Slice (Trick, level 1): Kusuke attempts to cut or damage an object by rewinding or accelerating a small part of it. Can be used to clear debris, with precision and overall success determined by an INT check, or as a way to attack an enemy (opposed by Essence.)
  17. Mitsurugi's sobs seemed to finally trail off, as she sniffled and wiped at her face; at least it seemed that her robes were rather resistant to being soiled. "It is not your burden to bear," she said, finally. "This behavior. . . it's unbecoming, for a former deity such as myself. I should not be allowing my discomfort to become yours. But. . ." She turned her head to meet Navin's eyes directly. "Thank you, Mhasalkar. You may not have said much, but your being here was. . . comforting, in a way. I appreciate it." She cleared her throat, shaking her head slightly. "I should try to ready myself for the next battle," she said, voice still a bit quavery. "If you wish to speak with me again, I will be practicing my forms." And with that, she stood, offered a bow to Navin, and disappeared further into the basement.
  18. "Yeah, the .950 JDJ weighs as much as I do. They usually only shoot them from a bench or a really heavy bipod 'cause they're so hard to lift. The same company that made them also makes parts for rifle-caliber pistols and stuff. It's super awesome, isn't it? They're really rare, though, since SSK didn't make all that many." She sighed. "If only they'd kept going. Ooh, I bet I could find you videos online of them shooting it." She processed the rest of the conversation. "A nanobot is like, a really tiny machine? They do all sorts of stuff in science fiction. I don't really want any in me either, though. . ."
  19. Sigurdr's voice rumbled across the comms systems again, thankfully with less roaring and more Galactic Basic. "Attempting to intercept hostile boarding parties," he stated simply - if gruffly, and punched his engines, his fighter on a trajectory that would give him proper firing angles on the shuttles closest to the ship. Try to shoot out the engines of the assault shuttles closest to the ship with my machine gun.
  20. Kyou had tensed up and almost spoken out when the idea of the military seizing custody of the kids came up; hearing that she'd be able to stay with her family calmed her down, though she still wasn't keen on the idea that she would technically belong to the armed forces and not her parents. "Um, do you know if anyone has been able to contact Arash and Junko Verethragna? They're on the maintenance crew, and they haven't responded to any of my messages. . . And Sam, he was supposed to be with them today."
  21. "Hmm. . ." Nadine doesn't reply to the somber note in Contagion's voice; either she simply didn't hear it, or wasn't really sure how to address the topic. She didn't look entirely comfortable with the idea of nanobot injections, either, though right now she seemed to be focused on something else. "Oh! I bet I know what you'd like. There's a gun called the .950 JDJ that fires bullets at about that muzzle velocity, but each one weighs half a pound. And yeah, that number is the caliber. Father would never let me even start to get one, but he said that I might be able to try one if we visited America."
  22. "Torakuma Shinobu, but just call me Shinobu. Never been that formal." Despite this statement, the half-oni introduced herself with a bow. "So what's your plan, then? Or is it in that whole 'figure out what the hell is going on' stage?"
