  1. Kyou frowned. Was this the right spot, or had she gotten turned around. . . ? "Thanks." Going straight forward from this point would have ran them right into a wall, so Kyou led Ahmed to the left; after a short distance, a stepladder leading a foot or two downwards presented itself. Kyou simply jumped downward, skipping the ladder entirely and landing with a slight thump, then turned to face the bulkhead; there was a panel outlined in red, with a rotating lever latch in the same color. "I think this is the spot. . ." The uncertainty was palpable in Crash's voice - after all, she couldn't hear the voices of the others. That could just be a difference in the thickness of the walls, however. "If we just pop open this panel, we should be able to peek downward and check where we're at."
  2. "It's Farsi. Means 'come with me.' And, I've been doing this pretty much since I could walk. Mom and Dad kept an eye on me at first, but I wasn't a stupid kid, so they let me roam around for the most part. Did get into trouble a couple times, though, wandered into places they didn't want me to be. . ." Kyou lapsed into silence for a moment, the relative darkness of the corridor covering the slightly panicked expression that flitted over her face. Wasn't supposed to mention that at all. . . ! "Uh, here, we've gotta climb this ladder and then drop down." Kyou vaulted up it with eminent familiarity, past a few sets of yellow striping stained black in places with grease, with VORSICHT and SPERRGEBIET written alternately on the legible portions - CAUTION, RESTRICTED AREA. "Kema dewretr berw. A little farther."
  3. "Alright, just hang close to me. If I duck, duck, 'cause there's some places where machines run through and it'd be bad to get caught in one. Moazeb bash." The tunnels themselves largely resembled darker, somewhat greasier, and more cramped versions of the normal hallways, with the occasional tool left unattended or patch of exposed wiring. Pipes also frequently ran along or across them, coded with a variety of colors. "I wanna say that to get that way. . . " she said, pointing vaguely in the direction she'd seen the trio escorted in, ". . . we have to circle around a ways and cut through a bigger room where they store some of the heavier equipment. There shouldn't be anyone in here, but if there is, just pretend to be lost. Worst that'll happen is they drag you outside." Kyou didn't seem to note that Ahmed would, in fact, be very lost. "Ba man bia." She headed down a tunnel in what seemed to be the exact opposite direction of the way she'd pointed, waving Ahmed along.
  4. "Well, I don't actually need anything from you, but I was wondering if you wanted to come with me for a bit? I saw the general direction that they took the others, and, I don't know." Kyou shrugged. "I got curious. I bet I can find a route through the maintenance tunnels that takes us close enough that we'd be able to hear their voices through the walls. They can't be all that far away, and there's an entrance right here." Kyou reached up toward a panel - the same panel they had, well, crashed out of previously. They dug fingers into a hidden recess, and pulled; a brief shriek of still somewhat poorly-lubricated hinges, and there was room to squeeze up into the tunnel hidden behind it. Squeezing that was already happening as Kyou climbed in, pushing the hatch a bit further out. "Well? Coming or not?"
  5. Kyou drifted about a bit after the appointment. She'd been a bit worried that she'd have some weird space sickness syndrome, and she was still watching for allergies and such. She'd been warned about that, though she was also told it wasn't much to be worried about. Either way. The others had been dragged off to go who knows where, and the crows were starting to get to be a bit much; plus, she didn't particularly want to go outside quite yet. Though. . . She spied Ahmed near the office, and shortly thereafter hatched a small plan of her own. She sidled up to him, and waved at him in order to get his attention. "Got a second or three?"
  6. Kyou tilted her head in confusion at Ranga's response, but decided not to question it. Hey, we're going to the doctor right now, right? "Science director? That's more than a bit important, honestly. I guess that makes you kinda like a celebrity." She shrugged. "As long as this doesn't end up like one of those messed-up scifi things, where he turns us all into robots or something." She grinned at her own joke, and elbowed Satomi a bit.
  7. "Daisuke Hashimoto. . . That's another familiar name. I think Mom mentioned him at some point? Is he important? Like, more than usual?" Kyou noted Ranga's reaction at her frown. "I wasn't mad at you, just thinking. I'm pretty sure I had a great uncle with the last name Durian. Uncle Thumman, I think it was. 'Course I never knew him, so that's that."
  8. Kyou nods. "Yeah, we can definitely talk later. I dunno how helpful I'll actually be, though." She remembered something Ahmed had said earlier. "Oh, and no, I'm not a guide, sorry. And I'm not sure how much people will appreciate me showing you around, unless they want even more kids crawling around in the maintenance tunnels, heh." Returning her attention to Satomi, she asked another question. "By the way, you mentioned your dad. Guessing he's a scientist or something? I know there's a bunch of 'em frozen."
  9. "Kyou Verethragna, because I never actually gave my last name. Good to meet you." She frowned again. Ranga Durian. . . the name sounded familiar, for some reason. "So, you guys already know each other? I guess you were in the same place before they put you on ice, then?"
  10. "Last warning. Seriously. This isn't fun any more." She turned back to Satomi, trying to smooth the irritation from her face and voice - not that Satomi would be able to really tell with the former. "Az molaghat-e shomâ khosh vaghtam. Good to meet you, Satomi." Her brow furrowed, trying to commit names to memory. She wasn't liable to forget Beverley, and then there was Ahmed and Satomi. . . "And what about you?" she asked, turning toward the Saberface girl with blonde hair and green eyes.
  11. "Thanks, but I'm not disease ridden. I appreciate your concern though!" She offered up her brightest, broadest smile toward the sour girl. "I'm just worried about how healthy you're gonna feel if you keep going like that. Rats have nasty bites, you know. And they like to chew on garbage." Kyou continued the plastic grin throughout her little spiel. "Anyways, esm e shoma chist? You haven't introduced yourselves yet, and it'd be kinda weird to just call you 'Japanese girl' or 'green eyes,' you know?"
  12. "RIGHT THEN! ONWARD TO GLORY!" Belinda hurried toward the aforementioned stagecoach - it was a wonder the amount of noise she made didn't spook the horses. "Quickly, my comrades, we've no time to waste!" I wonder what Pa will think of all this. Going to fight Dracula himself. . . The woman practically vibrated with energy as she started the process of harnessing the horses to the vehicle and ensuring everything else was in order.
  13. Kyou just giggled a bit at being referred to as "Mr." She didn't bother correcting him, simply returning the handshake with a firm grip - though probably leaving the slightest bit of grime behind on the boy's hand. "Good to see that not everyone's cranky. But yeah, I wasn't asleep with everyone else. I was actually born a couple decks away on the ship here. So I guess that technically makes me the youngest one here?" She shrugged. "I think there was a TV show about a kid that got frozen in an iceberg or something at one point, right? This is like, the opposite of that."
  14. Ice The short woman's eyelids lowered just barely enough to be noticeable; she was disappointed. It's as if she read my mind. Strange. Most people had a difficult time reading her, and frankly she preferred it that way. But, she supposed this sort of confinement would have produced similar emotions in anyone. "I am not tired. I can help." Working with children. . . it was going to be odd. Ice didn't spend much time around them; what little she did was usually composed of them hiding away behind their parents legs, unsure of how to deal with her seemingly emotionless self. These ones, though, they weren't exactly a typical situation.
  15. "Hey! I take offense to that!" The loud voice of another woman sounds, and around the corner turns its owner; Bedelia Burke, local town guard, her almost comically oversized maul resting on one shoulder. Despite her words, a smile still decorated the girlish-looking guardswoman's face. "I'm not afraid of some smelly old castle or its smelly old monsters! And speaking of smelly old things, William! How are you doing?" She clapped the man on the back as a greeting. "You're right, though, Ole. No quest ever got done by people sitting in town. That's why I'm here to declare that I, Bedelia Burke, Guardian of Valtoria, am ready to join you on your quest!" As she made her pronouncement, she struck a pose, with one arm lifting her weapon dramatically into the air and the other placed firmly on her hip. She held this for a moment or two, before relaxing and bringing her voice down to what she thought of as a normal conversational tone. "I'm terribly sorry that I didn't join you earlier. I was just worried about how the rest of the guard would handle things without me around."
  16. Kyou's head twitched ever so slightly at the blonde girl's words. ". . . Okay! In the interest of being nice on the first day I'm gonna ignore that, ok?" It hurt more than a little bit, considering how long she'd been looking forward to this day, but she chalked it up to simple bad luck - or maybe the girl was cranky with cryo sickness. At the dark-haired young woman's stunted introduction, Kyou turned her head to face her. "Ohayō gozaimasu!" she said with a grin. "And thanks, I couldn't tell what time it was on the way here."
  17. There was a creaking noise, the muted sound of metal on well-greased metal, that sounded from a plate on top of the wall, and then a thump. Another creak, and then a louder thump that accompanied a bundle of hair, clothing, and grease popping out of said panel as it flew open, revealing its true nature as a maintenance hatch as one caught a brief glimpse of a darker tunnel behind it. The bundle in question rolled upon striking the floor and popped up onto its feet in what seemed to be a fairly practiced motion, allowing the group a better look at the person; dark hair cut close to the head, dark eyes that seemed to shine regardless, and an outfit whose grease-stain-to-cloth ratio was entirely too high. "Oh, hey guys! I'm not late for the appointment, am I?" The rather androgynous individual smiled broadly. "I'm Kyou, by the way. Though some people like to call me Crash." Mom and Dad had just said to go to the doctor's office. They hadn't said that Kyou needed to do something like take the normal corridors. . .
  18. Ice The girl more or less stared straight forward for a few moments, glancing to the side at Wendigo's appearance briefly before returning to her intense study of nothing in particular. After another moment or so, she spoke up again. "What can I do right now? I want to avoid further injury." She would have to be careful when practicing her magic not to let her emotions grab hold of her. Accidentally triggering her own Spark hadn't happened to her since her first few weeks of magical training, but she hadn't been under this amount of duress. . . ever. And there was the issue of Charity. The woman, if she knew what was healthy for her, would be best off not coming within a hundred feet of her. "Would moving about via wheelchair be feasible?"
  19. Ayaka darted back toward the racks with the "cool" dresses on them. "Hmm. . . What about these?" She plucked a Rhythm Next Coord and a Crescent Victoria Coord from it, and held them in front of herself alternately.
  20. Rescue Emilee, canto to D5 "Ah, hell, we really shit the bed on this one, didn't we?"
  21. Ice "Ansuz identified himself as male. Therefore, I referred to him as male." It wasn't particularly shocking that the boy was biologically female. The short stature, the effeminate voice. . . if he hadn't called himself a boy initially she likely would have referred to him as female. Not that any of this mattered at this point. The only reason he was still alive was her failure to finish the job. And, despite the more serious nature of his wounds, it would likely take him less time to recover. . . She should have been more focused. She needed to be more focused.
  22. Ice "I see," she said simply in response to Genie's statements about her recovery. A week before I can start recovering. A month before I can do anything useful. If this made her feel anything, it didn't show on her face. Truth be told, the situation was incredibly uncomfortable. She would have rather fought through the pain than having her legs numbed, though she accepted that she did not yet have the concentration to do so. I need to work harder. At Genie's question, she simply nodded after meeting the woman's eyes.
  23. Ice skittering around in a wheelchair is probably not conducive to raiding, so she'll be staying home.
