  1. Lol cute, a drought Ninetails buffing a fire team If my trick room team has trouble then I'll swap back to my sunny day team and our drought Ninetails will have a lovely play date, and failing that, my early episode drizzle Politoed can start a weather war which could be fun. I'll be sure to prepare an adequate rain team before leaving the reborn city zone. I'm not overly worried about her yet As for the trick room team, I think I will go crawdaunt so that even before the last pokemon I have a resistance to all the types. Suggestions for the last one? Most of the time I'm guessing the spot will go to my linoone (HMs for days!) but for gym battles I may want some support... maybe a blissey or a wish sylveon as a cleric?
  2. Would huge power Azumarill or storm drain Gastrodon maybe be a better option to Swampert where slow moving water types are concerned? Also, can anyone think of some way of using the last 2 pokemon slots to to mix in a little something above and beyond just the trick room? I'd be interested to hear what options people are thinking would compliment the current team? Heatproof Bronzong over Reuniclus to help deal with Charlotte? I haven't reached her yet, and haven't seen what she's bringing to the table what in particular am I looking out for?
  3. Hey everyone! I've been toying with a trick room team for my continuing play through of Pokemon reborn (just about to hit Radomus... so I figured why not?)! For the most part I like how things are shaping up... but I'm not totally satisfied and could definitely use some suggestions on where to take the team from here. This team isn't for competitive use, so it doesn't have to be perfect... it's just designed to get me through Ame's diabolical game without too much hardship (the AI thankfully seems to struggle against whatever truly competitive options we can scrape together... mostly through combos)... So here's what I've been thinking of: Crustle - stealth rocks - shell smash - x scissor - rockslide Sets up stealth rocks early on and if there's anything left of him by the time trick room comes into play, then he's got a pretty decent base attack and enough bulk to rumble for a round or two. Shell smash is there as backup in case the trick roomers go down and he's still got to keep battling on his own. Cofagrigus - trick room - nasty plot - shadowball - wil'o wisp/hidden power (fighting) One of my favourite ghost pokemon and he just happens to be a fantastic trick room user. I've already got one all ready to go... just waiting on the tm to add trick room to the build. Question: do I want to go wil'o wisp for the debilitating burn, or hidden power for the coverage (currently have both on my cofagrigus so it's really more a matter of which one I should get rid of)? Reuniclus - trick room - psychic - recover - hidden power (fighting) One of my favourite psychic pokemon! Weird how that's working out the way it is with this list. He makes for a pretty good trick room user too, what with the bulky hit points, and recover to keep him going. Once again hidden power fighting provides coverage, though I'm wondering if it wouldn't be better to use a different hidden power just to get some variety in the list. Recover also makes me think stall tactics might be something to incorporate into this list... Chestnaught - spiky shield - leech seed - hammer arm - wood hammer At first he was my least favourite of the new starters... but the longer I've had to see what he can do I've come to really like him! He just makes for a really solid trick room physical beat-stick... and again spiky shield with leech seed makes for a pretty interesting option in getting some stalling in between the punches. Now... the last two pokemon are where the list kind of tapers off... I don't know who else to bring or what to bring on them! I'd like to incorporate a little more into the roster than just a one trick pony trick room, but can't figure out what to bring to do it. Suggestions both on the existing trick room team, the upcoming additions, and anything else would be awesome!
  4. It's really not that long to get the coins; I got mine on a plane ride to England... so like... 5 hours of intermittent play?
  5. I think it may be faster to breed earthquake rather than leveling it up to 55. I know I managed to sort out my earthquake flygon in about an hour of catching pokemon and chain breeding for the result I wanted (also got the nature and IVs I was looking for).
  6. Alright... so I'm not sure if this one still counts (since my memory is foggy of when you go to the island) but I'd love to see Gastrodon. The pink one obviously (so stylish)! If not I want a Shedinja (rocksmash in the byxbysion wasteland for nincada)! And failing that I guess a malamar but I'm starting to get disappointed by the time we get to this option...
  7. No Flygon is just any Flygon, every Flygon is the best Flygon especially the Flygon with earthquake!
  8. I realize Bulbasaur was from before Chespin existed, up until chespin's existence I might have suggested swapping bulbasaur to something a little more harmless... like treeko (poor treeko... how I love him... but how he needs so much special training and breeding just to compete with pokemon who have a movepool to fit their stats...); really any other grass type could have worked for the swap, and I suggested switching the order of receiving them over swapping them out entirely because it reduces the backlash people would give when their favourite pokemon gets snatched away from them after already having been in the game (the sort of groaning that Gyrados and Garde are receiving right now, and you haven't even dropped them from the game yet). The difficulty of the event itself doesn't matter here in my opinion. The timing is much more important for the balance of things. Getting Rotom for instance is way harder than both (requiring the key to the power plant which requires a puzzle/maze more challenging than the bulbasaur or chespin events combined) and venusaur would still probably use him to clean his teeth after eating the reuniclus you picked up on the way. The question is, does bumping that venusaur's arrival back to just before you fight Luna make a significant enough difference in the resistance it will face to make it worthwhile from the perspective of the work it would take you? Maybe not... But later would definitely help a little. The same psychological mechanic could also work to slow down other super powerful pokemon (though honestly... who is more powerful than venusaur after getting a high-five from ninetails drought?).
  9. This may sound a little farfetch'd (see what I did there... pokepuns) but here me out. Swap bulbasaur with chespin in their respective events. Chesnaught is an a solid physical wall, with a nice range of supporting moves, and a cool ability. Venusaur is an unstoppable god eating monster of doom that you gaze upon in horror as he devours everything in his path (EVERYTHING!). I initially didn't take venusaur because I wanna catch'em all and he's already in the game as an event (instead I took my favourite starter, sceptile and paid dearly for my choice); as a result the game was hard... really hard. Then I found the little bulbasaur... and with a little creative breeding (which honestly wasn't that necessary I just wanted sludge bomb and giga drain because... well... unstoppable god eating monster of doom...)... the game wasn't hard anymore. From that point on I'd fight battles... things would look bad and my team would be getting swept... down to my last pokemon I would sigh and say "fine... I guess I'll win now..." and out would come venusaur. A sleep powder, a couple growths, and it didn't matter what stood in his way. He swept the ice gym. He swept Fern (who then called me a cheater... and horror of horrors... with venusaur on my team... he was right). So why swap chespin and bulbasaur's events and not just remove bulbasaur as an event entirely? Because the fact that he is attainable later in the game discourages him as a choice for starter in the early game (I haven't hit episode 11's fight's yet but I can only hope they're ready for venusaur when I get there). Chesnaught on the other hand is nice... but he's not going to single handedly sweep 6 ice types in a 2 on 1 double battle after the rest of your team faints)... If the point of adding and removing new pokemon is to actually create varied team options throughout the game, then I think the real key isn't to remove them at all but to find the place where that unbelievable power fits. Basically... organizing pokemon's arrivals into the game based on their tier.
  10. Edit: my dwebble breeding trapinch comment got sniped by a couple seconds. Also, couldn't you speed up the process on earthquake, endeavour, headsmash aron by getting mudkip to 46 so it learns endeavour, then evolve it that same level so it learns earthquake when it becomes a marshtomp. Then breed marshtomp with lvl 30 rampardos so the baby is born with endeavour and earthquake, and now just get that crandos up to 46 for earthquake, endeavour, and headsmash to bread with aron? Edit 2: and if you want to talk hard, let's talk sludge bomb, giga drain venusaur. Now that was a lot of breeding.
  11. I may (or may not) have mistaken the effect of double hit for double slap and I may (or may not) have been dreaming of a skill linked attack with 35 power... I guess I'll go breed a new one now...
  12. Well, I did run afoul of a gypsies curse the other day... I caught the third one though. Mission accomplished.
  13. Lol, but surely 1hp, asleep and 40 pokeballs, 4 greatballs, and a pair of ultraballs later and I'd have some success (note: I did not manage to catch the second one either)? Asleep and at 1hp I'm pretty sure I'm looking at about 35% success.
  14. So... I just had the most frustrating an comical experience I've ever had trying to catch a pokemon and figured it was worth sharing and asking if anyone else has 'enjoyed' anything similar. I've been looking to get an ambipom with skill link to add to my team rotation (it's a big rotation), and after about ten minutes of headbutting trees and using Raltz to help me identify the abilities of the things that came out I finally found one! I swapped into my Zangoose, got in a quick false swipe and then swapped out to my venusaur to set up a sleep powder and get this in the bag! Was I ever in for a surprise... Pokeball after pokeball, sleep powder after sleep powder... it just wouldn't stay down. 10 pokeballs in I was worried... but at 20 it had become a matter of personal honour! How dare that grinning purple chimp defy my attempts to catch it so! It through everything I had left, premier balls, great balls, my prized ultra ball... Nothing... My retribution was not swift, but was total, powering up my venesaur with 6 growths (a message needed to be sent to other pokemon that would try that again in future!) before delivering the final sludge bomb. I switched the game off without saving and tried again, as I write this I am 7 pokeballs in to the second skill link aipom I have met in 1 hour and 39 minutes (and counting). Will I survive this ordeal? Will aipom? My real question is have any of you, my fellow trainers ever had an experience like this; a pokemon that just refused to be caught no matter how weak or debilitated? Maybe I should just breed one instead...
  15. From my knowledge of the LoL international experience, or at the very least it's perception; there is a lot of discussion that both France and Germany has a disproportionate number of disagreeable players to be on a team with. You might be being lumped into this prejudicial stereotyping and thus dropped because of either past experience with other players from your nation, or just the general stigma that those players have caused (or were at least perceived to have caused). I am sorry for your unpleasant experience though; people can be pretty awful.
  16. Oshawott! I feel the poor little guy doesn't really get much attention in the grand scheme of starters and Samurott is such a boss looking pokemon.
  17. I am super pleased with the success of Anthalt against Yanmega.
  18. So hard to pick just one... but I think it's Sceptile. Something about a leafy dragon is just so cool. With that said it's still pretty up in the air for first because I love so many pokemon and it's such a close tie for first it's hard to tell which one is actually out front.
  19. Mawile!!! Way underrated but surprisingly good. Better now that it's a fairy too!
  20. Dunsparce. And because I want you to know, allow me to impress upon you how hard I pondered the question of "what pokemon would I not even wish upon my enemies" before finally selecting Dunsparce. I look forward to it having an appropriate nickname too.
  21. First things first, EVERYBODY and I put it in all caps because I really mean everybody... Everybody loves mudkip. I've never met a single person who didn't. Now as for my team... it's a weird story somewhere between favourites, real world stories, and trying to be the very best like no one ever was. First... some honourable mentions. My starter was my favourite pokemon in the entire game (or rather, evolved into it), Sceptile! Something about a forest dragon just appeals to me sooo much. Unfortunately she was just too fragile and didn't pack a big enough punch to stay on the team (even with that massive special attack)... so she's been boxed, but for a large portion of the game she was my a cornerstone of my team in Reborn. Likewise, Mawile. Love the pokemon, had her on the team for a long time, but just slowly phased her out as new more powerful things (in this case a better steel type) came into rotation. Alakazam was on the team until very recently and is still in rotation sometimes, same with Cofagrigus, and Scrafty; all good, but not EV trained so I'm less inclined to include them. The first enduring team member I found along the path was Clark, my Arcanine. One night with my friends we discussed the infamous question 'If you were a pokemon which one would you be?' For my best friend it was so clear that everyone in the room said it immediately; he's growlithe. So once I pried my best friend from the cold dead clutches of that police officer who fell down a hole... I set about creating my first true unstoppable god monster. A pokemon that goes toe to toe with Garchomps and Abras nearly double his level... and only loses because the recoil on his own attack has on occasion OHKOed him! He's one of my favourites and a great reminder of my best friend in real life. Sadly... his self destructive tendencies are causing trouble for my team... I need a pokemon that won't destroy itself while destroying opponents... and so Clark's days may be numbered. Venusaur... or Dinsdale as I affectionately named him... will never leave my team. This is the pokemon Giovanni had in mind when he created Mewtwo; the world's strongest pokemon. It took a full two weeks to breed the correct venusaur, and another couple days to EV level him up. But once it was finished I had a pokemon with perfect EVs, IVs, Nature, Chlorophyll and the moves: growth, giga drain, sludge bomb, and sleep powder. Literally the perfect pokemon. When your grass type is 5 levels lower than the ice gym leader's weakest pokemon you do not expect to sweep. Venusaur swept. But more than just being the image of perfect, Dinsdale was the first pokemon I ever had. A bulbasaur from pokemon red. My dad named him for me because I was too indecisive to make a decision about such a major thing as nicknaming a pokemon. Ninetails. Literally on the team to make venusaur function as he does. She doesn't even have a nickname yet. Nice pokemon though; pulled off some surprisingly impressive sweeps thanks to sunny day buffed flamethrowers and lucky type match ups. Zoomy my Flygon! I've loved this pokemon since I got it in pokemon sapphire (I think a lot of my favourite pokemon were from 3rd gen)! Don't know why, but it's just everything I want in a pokemon! I EV leveled him up to perfection and was instantly impressed the moment I released him on the world (watching with a satisfied smile as earthquake after earthquake cut a bloody path of carnage through team meteor). He's a lot like Clark, not perfect, but close, and very important to me. Bulwark, my wall, my Forretress. I like him... and he has his use as a spiker and rapid spinner... but he's hanging by a thread. Against the game's AI I just don't really have a need for a rapid spinner, and spikes while helpful don't make too much a difference when pokemon like Clark, Dinsdale, and Zoomy are already hitting full health bars with tons of room to spare. And the final spot... still missing a locked down partner. One day I hope to find the pokemon that completes this puzzle... but I haven't found it yet, and in fact the team is still in enough flux that almost none of them are safe (except venusaur who is the prophesied bringer of the end times and as such will likely never leave my team until the day that pokemon Reborn is no longer hard enough to require unstoppable god monsters to beat gym battles... Also Zoomy has never once let me down... so he can probably stay too).
  22. Anthalt

    Gen. 6 Fossils

That's sad... I don't want to get another helix fossil... but I sure do want a 6th gen fossil...
  23. Anthalt

    Gen. 6 Fossils

Hope they accept their lord and savior in his revived form... also hope it creates a funny cutscene... possibly in which they try to kick you out for not having the fossil but then spot omanyte and immediately begin to worship you as 'the bearer' or something along those lines.
  24. Sweet! I've always loved ditto! He's such a cool idea for a pokemon. I just always find it such a shame that he's always a turn down by the time he gets started in a battle. I suppose that new impostor ability will fix things.
  25. Ditto! I want you to beat episode 12 with ditto! And ditto alone; everything else is of little importance! I want DITTO! Edit: round off this team with the other shape shifting pokemon, Zoroark. But if you do make sure it always shape shifts into Ditto!
