  1. Ah yes, and as I try to hammer out the teams issues and start rising in the ladders, I encounter that one thing I hate most in Laddering... Conformity. Unless you're some genius with a knack for unforseen tactics, you have little choice but to start conforming more and more to the meta after a certain point... you start to find that if you want to continue winning, you must choose between using the mons you have enjoyed thus far on your climb, or the ones that everyone and everyone's...

And such is the inherit question in the Meta- which do you care more about at the end of the day, Enjoying yourself, or winning? The comforts of Leisure, or the fires of Ambition?

Wait a minute, murdoc, back up... Balanced Hackmons?

      Chevaleresse

Yeah. Any pokemon with any moveset and any ability, within reason. Granted, the pool is mostly Chansey+Shedinja+Legends and Megas, but it's virtually infinite creative freedom and one of the few tiers I still enjoy.

  2. Damn, just when things were starting to get interesting in that little scene... Well, depending on how Chim has Matt answer- either press on with the topic of conversation or drop the subject, maybe we could work out something about drake being led to the group by Folie immediately afterwards... or something. perhaps break up an awkward silence that follows, etc... or just outright interrupt the entire conversation with her arrival.

  5. http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/mixandmega-331014771 So figured I'd just slap together a team real quick to try the waters out, get a feel for things. I'm just fucking around right now, but I am taking notes as I go. This current team is just a combo of interesting things I wanted to try and YOLOism that was pieced together in a few minutes

  6. LT. Ringo is about level 7. His 9 subordinates are around level 6.
  7. I will respond to these via PM. It's a matter that doesn't need to be aired out in the public like dirty laundry.
  8. Jack A wide, wicked grin broke out on Dingo's face as he looked over his shoulder, seeing the two giving chase. He continued shouting insults and taunts as his legs seem to become even faster as his footfalls grew harder, kicking up dust and grass as he sped like a maniac... though just enough to stay out of the range of either of Jack's fighters, too fast for them to catch no matter how hard they exert themselves. It was like dangling a carrot over the mouth of a Rapidash... no matter how fast it gallops, it can never get the bait. The chase led all three further and further away from the boy, the animals running faster than he could've ever hoped to keep up with. Before long, they passed the woodline at the edge of the route... and soon vanished. --------- They had not make it incredibly far into the woods. But they had made it far enough that none of the others would be likely to easily find them or intervene without having to spend a while searching. Thick brambles dotted the forest scape, interspersed by twisted, gnarled trees of various species that neither Leonidas nor Lara recognized. The ground was covered in rich, dark soil, a few leaves scattered here and there. Much to the duo's surprise, Dingo finally halted his fleeing under a Willow Tree... skitting to a stop before he turned and faced them, that same smile on his face. If they turned around to try to run, they would've noticed the other Patrat who had partnered with him emerging from one of the brambles. It was obvious what was happening here. This had been their plan all along, ever since the sand attack had failed. They had lured the Lion and Hyena cub here to get them away from their trainer... to get them away from the one giving them commands. Cut off the head, and the rest of the snake shall die... The only question now was: how well would the two inexperienced Pokemon do without their owner's direction, against these foes who clearly had planning and training behind them? Without jack there to shout orders and give them guidance? The question was one that would have to be answered quickly. Dingo's eyes flared up with a spiraling, mesmerizing pattern as he sneered at Lara, teal waves of hypnotic suggestion blasting forth and heading right for her... while the other Patrat scooped up dirt and sand in both paws and violently flung the stuff towards Leonidas's eyes, far harder than he had before... Mio The fake out caught the Patrat nearest the truck off gaurd. The attack hadn't done very much, but it had certainly been enough for Tango to stop her assent up the side and fall back to the ground, chattering wildly as she hopped to her feet, furious at whatever joker had thought that was funny... Ironically enough though, in all ranting, she didn't even notice as the very Meowth who was the culprit attempted to sneak past and reach the mudkip. Alecks Lingo had barely gotten up again when he saw the Embers surging towards him. The rodent set his jaw in a thin line...this wasn't going well at all. At this rate, he would surely gotten beaten. Without a sound, again the Patrats body glowed white as he initiated an acrobatic maneuver to try to get away. Unlike last time however... he had acted too late. The ember still grazed his left side as he leapt up and out of the way. He landed further from the Chimp, going down to one knee as he panted, pain rupturing throughout his ribs. When he looked down, he saw why. That blackened patch of fur... the scent of something searing... The ember had only done about half the damage it would've had it hit him head on... but these lucky bastards had managed to score a burn. He looked around at the chaos ensuing all around the truck. Everyone else on the force seemed to already be engaged... and Mango was busy try to fight that wierd Fighting type that had tripped him... there was no one who could help him fight this chimp. He couldn't use Detect again... not without running the risk of screwing up and failing. This little chimp had the obvious advantage now that he had revealed he knew a ranged move... "Paaaaat trat trat trat..." He muttered indignantly as he rose to his feet, Glaring at the monkey one last time. This was it, he knew it... he couldn't win this, not in his condition. Why even bother trying to counter attack at this point? Brendan Eh... in theory, yes. Yes, Titan would be a genius. If it wasn't for the strange, oddly... fizzy sound that emanated just before his attack met with the Patrats. The two of them locked blows with the rodent's teeth still glowing their sinister black... though rather than pain or recoil from the collision, he looked more... confused than anything. Had this rock type... just straight up offered his head to make it easier to chomp away? Well, alright... it was strange, but...Yango had seen stranger things before. "PAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!" The rodent gave a war cry, proceeding to try to nom nom nom on titan like a frozen treat with his black fangs, trying to break through the rock types impressive defenses like a pachirisu trying to crack a nut... It'd be a damn shame if he lost a tooth though...
  9. I know, it's great, isn't it? At least I have something to give them a bit of extra Oompf here. because ten Patrats... well, the movesets can get a bit redundant after a while Also, don't tempt fate... like one of you is already doing and doesn't even realize it.
  10. Brendan An unfortunate Patrat took all four of the stones head on, sent flying back from the successive shots and sprawling in the grass, dazed by the sudden blows. Brendan's entrance did not go unnoticed. Another Patrat turned just in time to find his brother being blown back like a rag doll, eye's glaring with ferocity at his assailant before he sped off towards Titan, fangs elongating and glowing a sickly, sinister black as he closed in, jaw opened wide... Jason Not today. Today was not the day... Ringo would not stand for this, not at all. The Lieutenant's body flashed a pale white as he propped himself up from the ground, glaring at the approaching Minccino. Barely fast enough to even track, he sprang up into the air, somersaulting away with the grace of a blaziken as the mouse unleashed it's attack, hitting nothing but empty air as Ringo landed directly behind it. The next moment, fast as lightning, a snarl emanated from the rat's maw as he turned heel, jaw opened wide and his fangs elongating as sinister, black static began to crackle around their darkness infused form as he attempted to drive them down towards the Mouse's back, burning like black candles in the night as his ability kicked in and amplified the move... He was the commander here. He would not be defeated as easily as some common newblood... he had earned this place, had fought for this place, had watched brothers fall to get this place. He would not bring such dishonor as to be defeated by mere human brats...they would know the power of the Brotherhood... and they would regret this. He would make sure of it. Gomez's leer was cancelled out as the others wised up and met it with their owns. Again, two could play at this game... and the patrats knew they knew the rules better than this little wood gecko. And one of them intended to prove it... given it's leer was laced with a spiralling, mesmerizing pattern, sending forth teal waves towards the Treecko... Katie, Alecks The dirty play from Roy worked... but not as they had hoped. They had managed to sweep Lingo's feet from under him, but they had failed to consider just where the rodent would fall if he tripped... Barreling forward as fast as he could, there was only one direction. Right towards Apollo. The rat let out a surprised yelp as his forward momentum sent him flying towards the fire monkey... this, would probably hurt for both of them... Meanwhile, another Patrat came to the aid of her brother, with a savage screech, the female lashed out with an arm at the road, sending a thick stream of sand from the ground heading right for Roy's eyes as she closed the distance between them, tucking in her shoulder much like Lingo himself had, intending to take advantage of the distraction to try to drive her body weight into the fighting type... Jack Both patrats took the attacks head on, not expected their targets to be savvy enough to break through the distraction. They wouldn't make the same mistake again though. They backed away from the Lion cub and the pooch, whispering to each other in hushed voices as they glared at the two. The next moment, they both seemed to reach a consensus about something, nodding their heads... before promptly running off in two opposite directions, one yelling out jabs and taunts to Leonidas and the other doing the same to Lara as it fled... Just what were they planning? How intelligent were these rats?

  13. He's back with more! Mega Dunsparce Type: Normal/Dragon Ability: Serene Grace Atk:10 (-60) Def:80 (+10) Sp.A:145 (+80) Sp.D:85 (+20) Speed:90 (+50) Dunsparce with Serene Grace... and a set of Ice Beam, Thunder, Flamethrower, Ancient power, etc... there are quite a few options to choose from that it benefits with under it's belt. And given most of said options are special... well, you get a boost to make yourself deadlier, while tanking your attack because you honestly have a far better option going special. A boost in speed to make yourself relevant. I mean, yeah, this thing is pretty straight forward in terms of how it's to be used. The Dragon type could easily be justified if it just got a few moves like Dragon Breath/ Pulse, Draco Meteor, etc... imagine it's aesthetic as being an elongated, winged serpent that is far longer than it's normal self. Probably the biggest threat it faces though, is Chansey and Blissey, and other bulky special walls that it isn't running SE moves against. Even with that boosted additional effect likelihood and that 145 base Sp.A, it will most likely still have trouble breaking through the mushy wall that is the blissey line... I mean, that thing has Bulk for DAYS afterall. Mega Torkoal Type: Fire Ability: Drought Atk:120(+35) Def:160(+20) Sp.A:120(+35) Sp.D:80(+10) Speed:20(+0) Yes... what you see before you is a bulky Fire type. You may pick your jaws up from the floor. The Defense only gains a slight boost since it's honestly pretty damn good, and the mega instead focuses on boosting Torkoals offenses. Drought gives you the advantage over water and boosts all your fire attacks, as well as allows Solar Beam to hit in a single turn instead of two. Your speed is absolutely abysmal, however, if you run with a trick room or even possibly a baton pass core, that becomes a non issue rather quickly. Or alternatively, you could just opt with a quick shell smash... imagine a STAB Drought Boosted Fire Blast or flamethrower coming off of that...

  15. Mayanna's Group... Her brows raised a bit at the rather sudden question. "Yeah, I am. Why do you ask?" Her eyes met his with a neutral stare. It was strange to say the least... first this rough neck acts hostile and aloof, as if he's got somewhere better to be, then he comes out of nowhere and starts inquiring about Samantha. Yeah, as if she wanted to really think about her roommate situation during this trip. Hyper and annoying as her roommate was though, Maya knew full well what people were talking about. The redhead truly was strong, that much she'd seen herself. Infact, she couldn't help but pitty the Buizel trainer a little that day- getting wrecked as hard as he had even with an advantage, and then to have salt rubbed in his fresh wounds by his opponent dancing about in glee like a child in a candy store. She had walked away from the crowd in disgust when that had started... it had certainly been eye opening, to say the least. Eye opening enough to have made Maya try to avoid spending any more time around the girl than she had to... Titania was only half paying attention to the humans' conversation at this point. Her eyes stared out over the grounds as she tried to find the Panda... it had been a good while now- where the hell had he gone? Everyone seemed to have find their groups by now, so he should've found the Tall girl and been back by now, shouldn't he?
  16. BRAWL! The Patrat Brotherhood! Jason and Mio The Quick Attack landed solidly, once again knocking the cackling lieutenant to his back; the rodent had been too preoccupied gloating to notice the speeding Gecko surging towards him until it was too late. Meena however, had honestly been a bit less observant than she should've in launching her attack... the Treeko's attack just moments ago had been so fast, it had landed Gomez right where the Patrat had been when she aimed- right smack dab in the middle of Meena's leap path with his back to the cat... as fate would have it, instead of pouncing with outstretched claws for the lieutenant, she was now coming down towards her own ally... The bed of the truck (Meena- Mudkip) Meanwhile, a Patrat approached the back of the truck from the front as the fighting all around continued, coming up to the back where it saw Meena's back... it's eyes blaring with a deep, unsettling spiral pattern as teal waves emanated from it's peepers, heading right towards the unwitting mudkip as it stood guard over the food... Today was the day... that she would finally overthrow that dang Ringo and take the title of Lieutenant; she would have his day, she'd put this mud fish to sleep and retrieve the rest of the goods herself. Boss Hog would surely be made proud... Alecks This would not be a foe that went down so easily. That much was made clear as the Patrat's attention was instantly drawn to the Chimchar's charge, Keen Eyes instantly focusing in on the approaching threat... the instant the monkey drew close, the rodent's body blared with a bright white as, fast as lightning, his body contorted and flipped as he dodged swiftly to the side, placing himself right behind the chimp. The next moment, he was tucking in his shoulder and himself charging, heading right for Apollo's blindside, placed in a far more favorable offensive position thanks to his Detect. Jack The patrats cut off their own leers upon being meet with those of Lara and Leonidas. Touche, touche... it seemed two could play at this game. Or rather, twelve could play at this game. Talk about some online Multiplayer Functionality... Two of them however, dashed towards the duo the next moment, one of them scooping up a thick handful of sand from the road as he charged, swinging his arm out in a wide arc and sending a cloud of the grainy, irritating particles heading straight for Leonidas' eyes, while the other did the same on Laura's end... This... was a set up in the making... but would young Jack realize it in time?
  17. I've alredy given this one the once over today and shared my thoughts else where, but what the hell? why not? Just keep in mind: I have not done any calcs, it's nearly midnight here. Both of these are very rough ideas- concepts, if you will. Mega SpindaY Type: Normal Ability: Prankster Atk: 90 (+30) Def: 95 (+35) Sp.A: 10 (-50) Sp.D: 95 (+35) Speed: 110 (+50) A relatively balanced, supportive distribution focusing on speed and defenses. I decided to split them into 2 different megas because I wanted to bring out both the natural Troll nature of the Spinda, as well as it's once signature strategy of contrary supapoawh. Anyways, a boost to defenses to help Mega Spinda Y Survive just a bit longer as it covers and helps its team mates set up. Speed to give it a bit of headway and make it faster than some of the other pranksters. All and all, with Spinda's interesting selection of status moves and the various combos that can come with it that other pranksters can't offer, it's sure to get good use out of it's new ability... if one is creative enough. Mega Spinda X Type: Normal/Fighting Ability: Contrary Atk: 140 (+80) Def: 70 (+10) Sp.A: 5 (-55) Sp.D: 70 (+10) Speed: 115 (+55) You uh... you ever see Kung Fu panda? you'll get the reference then... this thing... With contrary superpower ((Spinda would be given Superpower back as either a level up or tutor move)). And that 140 Base Attack... and 115 Speed. With Stab...Oh boy. Of course, gets checked pretty easily by G-wings Talonflame and Mega Alakazam, Mega Bird Jesus, among probably others that I can't think off right now because of the time... but yeah, I imagine this one would probably see more use than mega Panda Y
  18. Kenny, he means only having one pokemon out and fighting at the moment. You currently have both partners in the field. EDIT: .... .... .... Hmmm... well, never mind then. Just disregard this post, I guess.
  19. Oh, also, as a general advisory for this fight, please do not auto hit the rodents Patrats with your responses, as for the most part, they won't autohit you; unless you are dodging a ridiculous amount- because I WILL make sure your mon gets tired from it... You see, it's kinda supposed to be a challenge- your first challenge... and if you can just land all your hits without any type of repercussions or being forced to try something new, or adapt or think outside the box and just post that you hit well... it doesn't become much of a challenge then. so yeah, please don't autohit. that is all. Just wanted to make it clear they aren't fodder, but host controlled enemies.
  20. Well, kinda got ninjad on the update. I originally intended for them to come out of hiding when gomez hit the first one since it was clear to them you all were gonna interfere, but hey... works out either way. so yeah... get to.
  21. The Patrat Brotherhood... The patrat Gomez knocked away was back up in just moments. So was the one hit by Apollo's flame charge. It seemed thus far they were the only ones to arrive... but the rodents made no move as they stood there in the grass. Instead they only glared at the wood gecko and monkey with mild annoyance as one of them it brought it's fingers to it's lips. A Shrill whistle sounded as it blew with all it's might. Soon, all along the sea of green, eyes peered out at the group of young interlopers... stout, short Patrats emerging from the tall ferns and grasses. They seemed... far more organized than one might've assumed- so much so that they had the good sense to have surrounded the truck during their approach. "Pa-hat-hat-hat-hat-hat" The one recently assaulted by Gomez cackled with near glee, giving the lizard a foul, intimidating sneer as his brethren sized up the others... It was just as the driver had described. Ten patrats, staring them down from all sides... The young trainers had better get to it. Jacob and Aleck were most definitely gonna be outnumbered here otherwise.
  22. Can't believe I'm gonna waste my shot on it, but damn it I've spent too long looking at this thing not to have compiled a lengthy list of everything wrong with it... Amendment 1: Give.It.Superpower.Back. Now I'm not gonna sit here and try to argue Spinda as actually ever being useful, but... well, at one point in time during the last gen, it had access to Superpower via Dream World. Now, combined with the ability contrary... well, you should all know how this works from thanks to Contrary Malamar. If it learned it at one point, even if only via Dream World, what reason is there to not give it back as just a Level Up move? None. Do it. Yeah, he's absolutely useless. But at least with Superpower, he was only moderately useless... in gen 5, he had at least one light at the end of the dark, abysmal tunnel that is the life of a Spinda. In gen six however, with the removal of superpower, his single best weapon, he has none. Amendment 2: Give it Metronome as a level up move When you use Metronome, you know you're gonna be in for an interesting time. You are more or less taking a complete gamble on what you'll get- you're firing shots at random and hoping one of them happens to be the one you need. In other words, you are leaving your fate up to the massive amount of probability and RNG that rules the move metronome. Spinda is a pokemon whose entire premise and gimmick revolve around being random. The odds of two having the same spots are 1 in 4 billion, so high that in all honesty, it might as well just be the same as all of them having their spots designed completely at random. Metronome as a level up move fits this midget panda like a glove, just from a pure thematic standpoint. Amendment 3: Exchange the ability Tangled Feet... with Prankster Just look at this thing. Then look at some of the most notable mons that get prankster: Now... most of these things looks either Funny, Strange, or Shifty... no look at Spinda. The thing is a literal Midget Panda with bunny ears sprouting from it's head... with swirls for eyes... covered in red splotches. probably one of the weirdest concepts for a mon I've ever seen. What, appearance alone not enough for ya? Aight... well behaviour wise, this thing is kinda like the ultimate troll in a way. Here he goes, pretending to be confused and off balance- drunk, even -and teetering from one foot to the other as you try in vain from the other side of the field to get a lock on him... did you think this was just the way they are? Hell no, can't be... it's obviously intentional- likely a specialized behaviour that developed as a way to avoid and confound predators so that they could escape as the bigger creature sits there going "Dafuq was up with dat thing I was gonna eat?". Come on... this things nature, it wouldn't be too much a thematic stretch to justify it having prankster. What, you want more? fine, fine... lastly, look at that move pool. Just, just look at it... this thing was almost born to be a troll, the amount of different status moves he can use result in some weird and crazy combinations that guess what? for some of them, only a spinda is capable of running. That's right. He's got at least a little potential, deep down inside... the troll movepool he has is proof of it... he just needs the right adjustments to be able to access that potential- and Prankster... is just that adjustment. Plus, c'mon... Prankster Metronome ya'll... just think about the sheer amount of potential Lols ---------- Now...in closing, will any of these actually get Spinda far in the meta? Nah, hell no, probably not. The only thing that can ever really redeem this poor thing is if he were to get a decent evolution, but we all know that probably is never happening. But hey, at least these changes would make him at least a bit more interesting and fun to pull shenanigans with in some of the lower tiers, if nothing more than just shenanigans. (Because lets face it, he's probably still never gonna see the light of an bonafide, OU match...)
  23. ... I just carried my whole damn team... and did the good 70% or so left of our E-congress bill project myself in the course of 2 hours with the aid of references to the Fair Minimum Wage Act of 2007 and a few gov sites... I don't even care if any of those lazy bastards thank me, I just care that this means I'll graduate on time.

    2. Sutoratosu

      Sutoratosu

See though, that's the thing. I got the feeling my teacher won't really give too much of a damn... he'll probably just note it on their individual portion grades or something.

plus, I'm really not that pissed about it. We honestly all procrastinated the fuck of it and I knew that everyone else was gonna be useless to the mission the moment I saw em.

TLDR I knew I'd have to do this from the very start.

    3. Sutoratosu

      Sutoratosu

But yeah, I don't even care about the principle at this point. I just want to move on and get the grade so I can graduate on time and get the fuck out of the public school system...

  24. Oh...huh. Well, I have to admit, that does dampen my interest quite a bit then... I think Skyrim is really more of the type of game where you get a better let's play experience through actual video rather than screenshots and typed descriptions- it's just that, as freaking massive as it is, it's a whole lot easier than simply having to type everything that occurs- because inevitably for the sake of time, your going to have to exclude things from the written report... And Xbox360 skyrim? not PC?.... hmmm... alright, well, I'm just gonna go for a solid maybe then. could still be interesting, I guess...
  25. alright, I think it's safe for all of you thinking gen 7 is near to just calm down. From what I'm hearing, this Magiana is apparently closely tied to Volcanion somehow and was created by humans 500 years ago lore wise. Chances are it's gonna be just another add-on legendary like Diancie and Hoopa and Volcanion all were, or possibly a key legend or part of the plot in Z... but yeah, doesn't look like Gen 7 is here yet.

    1. starkidcosmo

      starkidcosmo

My guess is add-on legendary tbh. It's possible that it's something for Z but my hopes really aren't very high.
