Aight... god dayum, we've been stalled for a while now. But no more, folks... I'm free. free from school, free from bullshit... just fucking FREE. I'll get us started up again next week, have some things both here and in the PMD RP I need to prepare (Such as... actually figuring out some of the further stages of the plot for this one) And rest assured. there isn't any bullshit to keep me from being able to fullfill on the promise this time.

Just stopping in to tell you all... that your co-host is now officially free of his prison within academia. Free as a bird, free as his ancestors... fucking FREE. Feels good. Anyways... School has ended, and I've got a major new project to work towards, so I'm afraid the time I was spending towards this one in the meanwhile is now demanded in another area... just can't see myself keeping up with the pace here, while also hosting... 3 or so RPs and making time to keep both my posts here and my updates on all of them up to my kind of quality... and since my hosting responsibilities kinda came first, I gotta give them some priority in this situation. So yeah, Yash, I hereby leave control of Stratos and Azauqyar in your hands. Do with them as you wish, I likely won't be able to come back to this one anytime in the near future, if at all. but just a pointer, Azauqyar would likely agree to any offer of peace made if it was laid before him. And Stratos would pretty much just go along with whatever Azauqyar says or does. Well... I'm gone now. Sorry guys.

Nah, I understand. I encountered the same basic problem in surge story to be honest... but I'm not setting out to make something all together different, and I wasn't trying to do that in surge story either. I wasn't expecting the story to become something new or completely seperate to stand on it's own... I just wanted something that I felt was better than what already existed. I know people are going to enter into this with preconceptions about what pokemon is, and quite honestly... I don't find myself troubled in the least bit with that fact. Cuase honestly, I'm entering into it with the same exact thing as well. In fact, it was only because I had memories of the series that I'm admitably rather fond off that accounts for why I'd even give a damn about it anyways, and certainly directly lead to how I was able to care enough to sit down and actually devote the time and energy to setting up this different world and it's workings. I've had to grapple with this very issue a long while now, ever since the first days of the spiritual predecessor to this RP, Surge Story, got up and running. I got lost on that one. I forgot what I was doing half way through, and why I was doing it... It was because I got frustrated with what I saw happening with something that I (and obviously alot of us here, given it's pokemon themed community and all) grew up with, and I wanted a way to escape it all... but I started thinking that I wanted to make something entirely different from pokemon... that I didn't just want something new, but something entirely separate... I failed to recognize what I was really doing and forgot the very reason I was doing it in the first place. And that led to mistakes being made in a variety of ways. And that was the one thing I realized when I ended it. That was the one thing I learned. I forgot my purpose, even though I thought I always knew it. I tried fighting the system, tried breaking and rebuilding the system to my own will like my name was Kefka. When really... what I should've done was simply adapt the system, not try to break it, not try to destroy it... simply alter it to become something new while still staying true to why I even bothered adjusting it at all. That's the reason why I'm attempting this thing here, right now. Because that lesson finally sunk in after a while, and when it did, I was finally able to see clearly and know what I wanted to do, and why. So... people can enter this with preconceptions, I accept that possibility fully. Because... I'm not trying to make something entirely new, something different to stand alone at the top of the mountain; that mentality is the very thing that caused me to fail in another World i had attempted to build, and you and a few others here know full well which one I'm talking about. I don't want this to be something different from pokemon... I want it to be different, yes... because that's really what it needs, something different to break up the sheer monotony the writers have allowed themselves to fall into... but I don't want it to be something entirely separate that casts aside it's roots. Like I said before... at the end of the day, I'm just doing this because I saw something I was fond of as a kid being continuously muddled into a repetitive, endless mess... and I felt that the concepts that I and so many people grew up with deserved better than that. I'm doing this in my best attempt to do what I feel is justice to something I felt was great once, and can still be great again, if it's rescued from the errors plaguing it...That's all I'm aiming for here. And just so the rest of you don't have to put the dots together, yes, Stratos is a major fanboy at the end of the day, ha ha... yes, funny. Bring it up or talk about it though, and you're name goes on the list right with Darvan's But anyways, no hard feelings, Hukuna, I understand where you're coming from. Afterall, it was none other than you one who ultimately taught me how to host, and then how to stand on my own two feet. I'll definitely be putting some work into this to make sure it follows through on it's mission... and doesn't stray from it.

He knows too much, Dobby. It's definitely the latter list. As for the question on the partner limit- The absolute maximum that a civilian can possess is nine. Most people stick with only six as the maximum, because that's the max amount you're allowed to carry with you in public, but in the eyes of the law, a single individual can own nine pokemon total, not just those in their parties, but nine altogether, including those in their main parties. But again, you would only be able to carry 6 of those 9 at any given time. Now then, that is for civilians, basically anyone who isn't either A: Employed in the Sector League B: A Police Officer C: A Commissioned Military Officer D: Authorized in some other legal capacity to own more than 9 partners total. Anyone who falls under these above conditions, has no such limit against them, neither for how many they can carry nor how many they can own. Hence why Gym Leaders can carry multiple teams for different levels of challengers But again... for the time being, I advise people to just worry about getting their main team together before they start thinking about any of the auxiliary members. Since the main teams are going to be the ones who should have the strongest ties to you being that they've been in your company longer than the 3 auxiliary members. And don't take me lightly when I say that trust and loyalty will eventually matter in the plot... Also, no authorities, for anyone. That generally doesn't work out well from what I've witnessed in other RPs. All of you start out as new trainers.

At the point of the story's exposition, Mega Evolution is an unknown concept... those from surge story already saw in that verse how it worked, albeit just in one cut-away scene... Now hush, Azery, you're gonna ruin parts of mah plot if you keep blabbing. don't make me bring out the surge... And I've begun cleaning up the OP a bit to make it easier to read, as well as edited a few things here and there to fit with my answers to questions posed so far. I'll finish once I have wifi again.

Satoshi's gonna get leveled up big time. And yes, he will be referred to by the Japanese name solely) As for Gym Leaders... I actually never touched on that.... whoops. Anyways... it's honestly up to the leaders themselves- Really it depends on how that particular leader started out as a trainer. If they monotyped, which by he way, is a bit on the uncommon side, but is nothing that will get you any raised eyebrows or worse things in the setting, then chances are, they still only use one type even after they've been employed as Gym Leaders. So basically... yes and no. Each Gym Leader has the freedom to modify their Gym however they see fit so long as it doesn't violate any rulings set forth by the League on the matter, so if they mono-typed when they were taking the recruitment challenge, chances are they'll still be doing so later on in their career. Since it's mandatory, Most Gym Leaders just choose a certain theme or strategem to pose a challenge those who approach them, so some who have already been monotyping will say "Screw it, done", and stick with monotyping like they always did, others will opt to construct new teams which employ weather manipulation, some will choose pokemon based on natural features such as sheer physical power (Things like Machamp and Darmanitan), heavy armoring (Scizor, Aggron, Steelix, Drapion, etc.), Incredible speed/ reflexs (Scyther, Greninja, Ninjask...) You get the point. Some will even use crazy strategies In this verse, Gym Leaders are really gonna be a mixed bunch. Most of them never use their actual, original teams though because of the theme mandate... which is fine for them because they are not bound by the Rule of Six, so carrying two teams is really no skin off of their back. And I've decided on the Sector for the story to take place in- Europe. Not Kalos, Not France, but all of frickin Europe, from what was once the iron curtain, all the way westwards to the Iberian Peninsula, now collectively known only as "Sector 01". I'll get a map up when I have the chance later. And I will be changing up the eight gym set up; Sectors will each have a bare minimum of eight gyms, that will be the federal standard for league size, however, larger regions, such as 01 (Europe), 07 (Most of the land that once constituted china, the southern parts of russia, and several smaller Asian nations), will have more than eight gyms due to their size to make it easier. You must only acquire 8 badges to challenge the E4 however. of you chose to go challenge all of them... good for you, you little over-achiever, but you'll get nothing for you extra effort (And some leaders may even refuse if you already have the eight needed...) Well...I would say you don't have to join right away, could sit back and watch it for a while to see if you feel like you could do it if you're interested...but given the amount of those claiming interest (Like... 12 or so at this point maybe, counting yourself...)...

The world is ruled by a single government body known simply as "The Federation", and is divided into 22 administrative sectors. An agency known as the Department of Drone Affairs manages all things related to pokemon, including the actions and conduct of trainers as well as the police and military. Very little about the government aside from that is actually open information to the public

Anyways... seems like enough people are interested for this thing to be given life. I'll go flesh out the Sectors of the world (Of which there's 22), work a bit on the plot, choose a place in the world for it to take place in... basically make all the finishing touches. Since I'm more or less at the end of my school year, I should have a bit of free time coming up. Give me about a week or so, and I'll have a full OOC up

Like I already admitted, I used the term a bit more...loosely than I should have. But still, the overall mission and motivation behind all this still stands... folks can refer to it by whatever they feel is the most politically correct term- fanficition, wannabe anime, Role Play, holy text of the church of the flying spaghetti monster; I don't care... all I want is something I feel is of better quality than what currently exists.

...I will allow such a thing, but only once, and you must have a legitimately good reason for doing it. And I mean better than just "I'm bored." because again... concepts such as Trust and bonds will mean something here; so letting people go willy-nilly getting rid of and replacing their partners... really would make no sense; how can your partners have trust in you if you've pawned off/ exiled half their comrades for no good reason then "I got bored with them"? and if you do do such a thing, for such a reason... attentions is going to be drawn to you by Gym Leaders... So... for amiability's sake, I will allow it, cause sometimes early on in characterization, well, everyone makes a mistake or two that they might facepalm over and say "Why did I do that?" but aside from that- you'll be locked in with whatever you capture- the moment you catch something, there is no turning back. Everybody gets one. don't waste it.

The Law prohibits the possession of more than a total of nine Drones for civilians, which is basically anyone not employed by the DDA, either through the league, the Police, or the Military, or have been authorized in some other capacity. It's the same law that also prohibits Civilians from having more than six Drones on their person in public at any one time. You have to recall, these things, alot of them in their final forms can rival the strongest conventional weapons mankind has... if you're a civilian, you have no reason to need more than a certain number, and nine is honestly quite generous as it is. And the feds know what you have, and how many of it... so no point in even trying to hide it. You go over nine total in your possession, and you're gonna be forced to donate a number of them to the DDA until you're total is back down to nine. If you refuse, they'll take all your damn partners and you'll face legal penalties It's been adressed in the OP... under the power point section if I'm right. Moves that vary in power take 1 Power Point to use. Yeah, sorry bruh... I wanted to include you guys in some to make it feel like surge story wasn't a waste of time and energy, and since you all were gonna be heroes anyways... i figured: "Why_not just give Spark Alpha a place in the world's history?" He's right, when I do something, I go big, all or nothing, either I'ma spend a crap ton of time and effort into making it, or it doesn't get released. Also, a note: Don't expect to be seeing identical regions to the games and... cartoon. They're set in an entirely different world that's only partially based on real world geography, and are highly exagerated in terms of size. Hence, I'm going to have to shuffle things around to make logical sense in the world- such as having all of japan being a single sector rather be divided into Johto, Kanto, Sinoh, etcetera... Which in turns means, certain characters get scraped... but I honestly didn't intend to use more than just the major/ most iconic ones anyway, so that's fine by me. so you can expect to see a large number of Original characters filing positions. I may refurbish some existing ones... There will be general power limit, yes, for example, for the first few episodes or so, no one will be allowed to progress beyond a Low CSS rating. how much they can increase in each episode though honestly depends on a variety of factors, such as the time the episode spans, time skips in between, how hard you as the trainer make your regiment... alot of things.

Well surprisingly in surge story... no one actually relied on Stat moves too much, most of em just wanted to rely on Attacks from what I saw in most players battles... But yes, more or less it will be a bit like Ymora did it, however to a lesser degree. I will allow different uses of stat moves so long as they are clever without stretching things too far. In surge story, I took things quite loosely with fighting in general, just ask any of the old players- they were allowed to use any move it would make sense for a particular species to know (EX: Beldum being able to use thundershock and other electric moves due to electromagnetic field generation)... basically, I gave them free reign so long as it didn't get crazy. I realized much later however, how potentially dangerous that could've been; I'm honestly just very lucky I happened to have a rather mature and responsible group of roleplayers who joined surge story and so it never really became to much of an issue... but again, I got very lucky as a host by being blessed with great players; it is still highly dangerous and not something I would ever directly do again... hence, we have this modified system of it that has built in checks and balances. Basically, you can be clever and creative with how you use status moves, as well as attacks, and thinking outside the box is encouraged here in battles. Just don't think too far outside of it that it becomes ridiculous. Cause I'll have little tolerance for power playing and the like. Basically; If you can not picture a mon using that particular move in the way you envision without chuckling silently to yourself with how silly it is, going "WTF is this?", or outright cringing with how strange it is... you probably should not use that move in that way. And if you're not sure, you can always just ask... no one will punish you if you ask; I won't allow that crap. And if you don't want your potential idea to be out in the open, PMs are always a thing; my inbox ain't that full anyway. EDIT: As for the Culture; I'm actually still deciding on what region of the world to use for the Sector, but yes, the OOC will have cultural information and such. Regarding starting partners and the levels there of, as well as the maximum limit, it's all covered in the OP, but the rules are: -1 Partner to start out, may be a maximum of level 11 (Low Beta Class), and must be a basic form of it's evo line if it has one. -No Dittos and no legendaries as starters. -The Maximum party you can have at any one time is six pokemon. The limit to how many you can catch however, is nine- this means you can have a full party of six pokemon, and 3 reserve members that can be swapped out EDIT 2: And note, certain regions may be modified in order to better fit with real world geography. Also some areas of the world may be drastically altered due to various acts of terraforming done during the invasion

Eevee is a bit special... cause #Eevee. It evolves via level up like any other specieis, however, WHAT it evolves into depends on either WHERE it evolves, or WHEN it evolves. So, if you were to train it up to it's proper level (which is level 25 here) On the shore of a lake/ around a large body of water, it would evolve into a Vaporeon. Train it up in an area covered in ice and snow, you get Glaceon, Near areas with strong Electromagnetic anomalies such as power grids and certain geological points, you get jolteon... in arid, dry climates, you get a flareon. and so on and so forth. Perhaps I used the term anime a bit loosely... what I really meant was, I want to this to be a damn show which I would be able to watch without wanting to cringe every ten seconds from my various grievances... basically, I just wanted a story that had some soul to it, that makes people give damn... unlike pokemon with it's admitably formulaic plot outlines and such which really just repeat the same basic things over and over again... but to answer the question, it will be aimed at older audiences, pretty much young adults or 16/17+. However, certain... lighter concepts, such as true bonds/ friendship (which really does matter in a battle...especially later on) and trust, etc, will still exist here. So you can relax, even though this IS me we're talking about here, things won't all be about darkness. As for the time... I imagine the average length of time for someone to acquire eight badges, considering the regions will be realistically sized and time taken to train their teams... would likely take a year to a year and a half at most. Challenging the elite four and entering the elite four would probably take a month or two. The League is intentionally designed to be beaten by those clever and skilled enough to do it. It's a hard and rocky road, but not one that is impossible to traverse. So... a year in the stories time is what I would say at this point, as again, this isn't entirely done, but I've already put so much miscellaneous work into it that I had no choice but to compile it into something coherent, because... ask anyone in surge story, they can tell you that just about every mechanic I have up here was originally a messy bunch of update posts and details scattered around the OCC of the RP but yeah, somewhere around a year or so

Alright, so... been a long while since I've actively hosted... anything, really. With Sky Slayer dead, Surge Story shut down for improvement reasons, exodus on indefinite hold... yeah, been a long while. But I haven't let myself get rusty... I've been closely watching over both the successes and failures of numerous other hosts during my journey... But regardless, our main point here today with why this interest check even exists... let's get started The motivation behind this RP: There you have it. My vision for Pokemon: Auroral Starfall, is to serve as... a mulligan of sorts for pokemon televised media as a whole. I wanted to give the concept some new direction, something different to make taking it seriously... not that hard. I wanted to bring it out of the realms of Fantasy and into the realms of Science Fiction, just like I attempted to do in surge story but failed- but took a multitude of notes on why I failed. Basically... it is my question to "What if pokemon had a legitamate anime to call it's own?" Now then... is this done? No. But it's developed and fleshed out to the point where I can make an actual interest check for people to give thoughts on it. so let's get to it. A Basic Timeline of world events and the setting of this RP: Let us move on to mechanics and such. The Federation The Department of Drone Affairs The League System Gym Leaders Elite Four and Champion Minimum participation age New Type Names Types in this RP are not known by their traditional names, instead, greek and latin roots are used to describe each of the 18 varieties: Cores, Core Strength, and Moves, and combat Evolution Evolution via items, freindship, trade, and location have all been scrapped in this RP. All pokemon that evolve will evolve via leveling up according to the CSS. (Basically, you don't need any items or trades to get the final form of a pokemon, just need to level them up.) For Pokemon with split evolution paths, such as Slowbro/King and Gardevoir/ Gallade, the split will be determined by gender as they are in the games (so EX: Slowbro will be the females of the Slowpoke line and Slowking will be the males) Items Items are forbidden from being used in the middle of battle, and in addition, pokemon are, by League rules, not allowed to enter battle with any items on them. This rules stems directly from crimes committed during the dark days... Player Characters PCs will be starting out as 18 year old trainers about to register to take on the league challenge in their Sector (everyone will be in the same sector (Region)). From there... you will see what I have in store for the plot They will be allowed a single partner to start off with, which can be a Low Beta Class (Up to level 12). In terms of options, anything goes for starting partners, so long as it's in it's basic form for that evo line and it isn't either Ditto or a legendary pokemon. The RP will be conducted in Episodic format, meaning that chapters will likely be shorter than compared to other RPs on here, but there will ultimately be more. Aaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnd. There. Damn, that's alot of typing... so, I think that should be enough to raise a few points of interests, there's a lot more that I'm not covering on here, but all the crucial stuff is up Additional: Several Major Characters from the canon Pokemon...cartoon... will be making cameos and appearances in the story, though they will either have their personalities reworked slightly to be like the games, or will have their ages increased for certain ones (EX: Satoshi (Ash), Gary, Iris, etc...)
