*Points out the fact Mareek's hands and the front of his jacket are both currently covered in Brienne's blood from struggling to free her earlier...* Well... that would uh... get interesting real quick, I suppose XD Probably gonna have to trash the jacket after this though thanks to the stains. Dayum, and that was the one jacket he actually liked too...

Pokemon Academy Ch. 3: Queued-Up Battles
Sutoratosu replied to Jory's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
{Mareek vs Kage} Mareek looked over the sparse battling provisions of the steel cage, unable to help but smirk, ever so slightly. Oh yeah... this right here, this is perfect. I may not be able to use Erce thanks to the small movement range, but Java and Nemo... His hand plucked a single plain capsule from his belt, tossing it up into the air and catching it like some Baseball Pitcher from Unova. Hopefully he'll be able to put a more interesting fight than James did... and there I go again... whatever- old hobbies die hard I guess. He tossed the capsule high into the air, no arc, completely vertical. "Nemo, onto the field!" The device unleashed it's little occupant in a plain explosion of white light, the young fighter tucking himself in tight as he sailed down through the air from Mareek's position, hitting the metal floor of the cage and instantly distributing the force of impact with a miniature combat roll before bring himself to stop on a single knee and igniting a Bone Rush out the side, glaring at the empty space on the opposite side of the arena. He made no sound as he rose to both feet, twirling the blue construct about his small stature like a staff before coming into the combat-ready stance he had practiced so many times over the past few months- delivering a Kubrick stare to Kage with resolve... though he knew full well from what Mareek had told them all before hand that their opponent hadn't even seen a single bit of his little entrance. But that didn't mean the audience hadn't seen it. -
Eh... on second thought, I think I myself shall take the courtesy of drawing first blood making the first post in our little scrap. Hope you do not mind, murdoc... EDIT: and I just had a very interesting idea on what to do with Brienne in the future... she just screams to become the second jedi on the team... So yeah... she'll be running bone rush instead of B-punch in the final set... And I'm changing her ability to Justified instead of Inner Focus... cause- Jedi...yeah...

Ah, it does! but... not anymore, for I have finalized Galen's! his past is complete... where it was not before. I'm quite proud of it, to be honest... feels like I might be able to do an even better job on him than Mareek. But yeah, from now on I'm going to put just as much overall effort into CD for him as his brother gets from me...their characters are equals in terms of significance in my eyes (cause lols, without fleshing out Galen and putting in more work on him, I couldn't do the same for his little brother...so I realized the hard way I couldn't just keep slacking on him XD) I will eventually go back and edit out all the obsolete things I wrote prior to this though... just have to get around to it...
-
Nnnnnno... those are quite literally the only three mons that have ever been in his permanent possession... As for how the hell the crobat could've evolved... it's backstory, all backstory. Backstory that will be revealed piece by piece as the appropriate times arise
-
That's it, you gonna get it now... INFANTRY!!! and what are you talking about? of course the Zoroark and Crobat are apart of Galen's main team- do recall... he's only got 3 mons. Electivire, Zoroark, Crobat... there is no room for spares because there are still slots vacant... so, their kinda on his main team by default :/ don't know what could be so confusing about that...

*Sics a rabid Luxray on Azery this time* Did I mention that the soldier left behind his entire team sitting right here on the counter top when he went AWOL? No? well, you'll figure it out at this rate... all joking aside though, I think this legit might be a thing that runs in the family... His mother has an electric type that uses soak and shock to a degree, his brother has one... and hell, depending on how things go, he'll have one too eventually... for some reason, lightning plays a big part in it all... (If i decide to have Ezio stay with Galen because the growth of character purpose of him being given to Mareek is already fulfilled by their interactions, I'm probably gonna go for a magnezone instead... cause #WearingTheSilver) and that moment when I realize that the whole evee thing with Joltara and her two daughters with Joltara representing Alexandra and the Vaporeon Galen and the Flareon Mareek...
-
Lols, well... since T-punch is one of his final moves, that shouldn't be too much of an issue to try to do someday XD Though ironically, he'll hardly be using T-punch to actually well... punch anything. Most of the time the electricity will just be channeled into that there bonerush... I notice that for some reason, the boy has multiple lightning/ electrocution based combos for several different members of the team... at least from how i planned them XD almost like...

Pokémon Academy: Ch 3: Winter Cup [IC]

Mareek Mareek paid no attention to the conversation or Baldwin or even Raiza as he pressed onward for the counter, Java now the only one still accompanying him. Whatever Reeves was talking about with the disabled fellow and the girl, he wasn't going to pry in or bother eavesdropping- Java's point still rang home even now in his head as he handed off the white and crimson... too crimson capsule to the nurse. He didn't even bother to wipe the blood off his hands before launching into the short version of things. "I was practicing with my team and we found her like this...what, no, we didn't attack her, we found her like this when we got there... yes, We saw what did it, but it was barely a glance at best..." The nurses face was still a mask of skepticism as she looked the boy and his likely co-hort over... Blood on the hands, on his sleeves, on his chest... a Riolu beaten nearly to the point of death... and conveniently he claimed to not have seen whatever was the culprit. Again she repeated the same questions, threatening to call an administrator if she had to in order to get the truth... but before the boy could open his mouth to snap at such bull shit implications the pokedex flew out of his pocket as if by magic and landed on the counter top. Dark, dimly lit footage began to play on the screen, shot from a perspective that suggested the cameraman had been able to avoid the loose and treacherous ground and the debris in the torn apart area he filmed... "I apologize then, young man..." She admited, seeing from Java's own perspective as the tree section was lifted with telekinetic force and Mareek scrambled down to free the jackal. Without another word, she turned to the healing machine and went to work... though Mareek could catch an occasional glimpse of the grim expression on her face...- 1255 replies

No, I just don't bother to understand too much of the more advanced to begin with... and it's pretty basic stuff what their teaching so... I can just breeze right through so long as I copy up the notes they keep spaming on the screen. Let me say right now though, the american system utilizing the SOL test is broken. There is a reason why we are not #1 in any category academic wise anymore... a damn good reason... EDIT: and just realized that Chim said Kage v Mareek was on the steel cage field... :feelsgd: I shall give Murdoc the courtesy of posting first, however. EDIT2: and here's Nemo's moveset by the second day, just to clarify: Supports: Stealth Rock Detect Attacks: Bonemerang Bone Club Thunder Punch Ancient Power He forgot Headbutt in order to make room for having learned T-punch the afternoon/ Evening/ Night before (Basically more or less the current time IC)
-
whoever said there weren't multiple nurses? I imagined it as the med center likely being able to handle multiple students partners at a time since... it would only make sense... EDIT: and I can't get a post up right now... in physics class at the moment XD Finally managed to stop falling asleep...

Lols, guess it all already works out then... wonder what will be said (probably nothing by mareek, cause... weird shit happened with telekinesis out in the woods and he's carrying a half dead jackal to get medical treatment. kinda takes priority in his mind over talking) About move sets though, I have to make a slight adjustment to Brienne's: Supports: Foresight Iron Defense Attacks: Bullet Punch Force palm Feint Yeah... I kinda got mixed up and thought that Lucario could Learn Bullet Punch Via level up... did not know it was available via egg move only... so Yeah, replaced vacuum wave with Bullet Punch, but to compensate I took out Quick Attack and replaced it with the...kinda useless feint attack. I-defense and B-punch are literally the only two of her current moves that are going to have any place in the final move set though. And due to her injuries she won't be able to fight or train for a while... and even after she recovers she won't be very willing, so chances are there won't be any level gain for her anytime in the coming chapter or two Alrighty then... *Dons fightin' gear again*

but All the battles in the Queued thread are going on starting at around 10AM on day two of the tourney if I remember what Chim said correctly...

Aaaaaaand... damn it, should've thought of that idea sooner. Oh well, late is better than never...
-
Wait a minute, want them in the same place??? Eh, well, I'll have him arrive at the med center in my next post, so... actually... where is robert right now anyway? been awhile since I saw anything IC regarding him... And @Azery: Lols, you think those ones I'm slapping up here are long? I have written longer IC post before, my friend... much, much longer... Hell, maybe I'm the one who should start considering hiding them under spoilers XD

[OOC/Sign-ups] Surge Story
Sutoratosu replied to Sutoratosu's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
yeah... guess you all are right. I came up with something though that makes me want to do a massive face palm. Finally figured out a way to justify everything, from types, to how moves are even able to be used, to evolution, to why the hell GAOWs (Technically they can't really be accurately called that anymore though...) listen to a human. Literally just blame it all on meta-science, like in fantasy how people blame shit on "It's magic." Anyways, we are going to be using the "Core System" for the re-write in order to explain and justify pretty much everything. I'll explain more later, but heres a list of the changes so far that are noted to be made: -Get rid of the Level system and replace it with an age and "Core Strength" system (Again, I will explain what the hell this is later when I have more time, it's lunch period at my school and I've only got like 40 minutes...) -Implement and develop the core system -The basic plot is in the works of being created, though at the current moment it will most likely be some type of civil war in america, with japan coming into the story later on -The time of the story has been pushed back to around 2100, with Pokemans having originated around the time period of the 2060's or so -I am going to admit defeat on the war of types... we'll keep using Gamefreak's system because now I can actually justify it thanks to the Core idea- 1189 replies

Pokémon Academy: Ch 3: Winter Cup [IC]
Sutoratosu replied to Chim's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
"So this is what she was talking about last night..." Said Mareek, back against the trunk of tall oak as he unwrapped the bundle of patterned cloth yet again. The silver surface glittered with the flashes of yellow and gold as Java and Nemo continued to practice nearby- the practice now having moved into full on combat, instructor firing off Discharge after discharge and Apprentice absorbing them all before conjuring his own bout and channeling it into bone rush... Mareek looked up at Erce, The Mantis' nod confirming his suspicions. "A metal coat then... I should've known when she said you'd like it especially. So... about this, now that we... have it and everything..." Erce accepted the silvery case of film from his outstretched palm, staring back at the warped reflection of the bug type looking into her own eyes. There was nothing to think about now. Nothing to consider still, nothing to debate. If the Coat would make her stronger in the end... then with that power... She nodded, giving the boy back the cylinder and watching as he re-wrapped it. "Alright then... if that's what you wan-" The ground shook for the slightest of moments. The sound of bark snapping and the impact of wood on hard packed earth like an explosion. Leafs tumbled down from the canopy, and with them various flying types panicked and took to the skies. Nemo lost his focus and with it, his usually sure footing and ended up face first in the soil instead of following through with an over head strike at Java. The glow of the electricity faded from his sword and tiny fists as he pushed himself back to his feet, looking around for the source of the tremor and the boom. All he found though was Java and Erce both assembling at Mareek's side, all three staring off into the direction of origin. "Java," The boy said, taking a step back as Erce's scythes blazed a bold green, a slight haze beginning to gather around them in the dim light. "can you pick up on anything?" "A single life form... from the sound of the blast and duration of the tremor, it wasn't more than a dozen or so meters away." Erce didn't bother waiting to hear anymore- she had her target and an ETA... "Wait, both of you!" Java protested when the boy began to creep along behind her "Whatever it is... it's not moving- I can only lock on to half the actual form... which means..." "It's either been cut in half or it's pinned under whatever tree fell..." They pressed further on, Java leading the way. Every last one of their jaws collectively dropped when the scene opened up before them. The area was rocky and barren. The soil was yet still torn to shreds and roots scattered about the place, some hanging from the canopy by nothing more than a defiance of gravity, some floating motionless at face level along with stone and bark and various leaves. The air was calm, still... dead, yet all the while, rippled with some unnatural force, some power that made even Java's skin crawl as the Strategist winced and back away. Though the waning light shined through fresh wounds in the embattled canopy, the entire area was just as dark as the clearing had been. "What is this feeling? Damn it... it's like back then all over again... back then with him." "What's that over there?" Mareek asked, trying to distract himself from how much he wanted to just reach out and strangle one of them, the urge to just do it building up in the back of his mind, bit by bit, like a dam at full capacity, about to blow. The other three looked over, barely catching the shining glint of teal before whatever caused it retreated faster than they could react, streaking out of the darkness and then into nothing entirely. Then the clearing lightened. The haze faded, the rippling faded and the captive objects soon fell back into their previous motions as Nature intended, Stone and rock and earth flying and pelting all of them, though Java defended them from the worst of it with an analytic, telekinetic blast of his own. Nemo spotted something once he unclenched his eyes, feeling the debris suddenly stop as the frozen blast force ended and the horrible feeling growing stagnant in the atmosphere blew out in a dark wind. Something lay on the ground in a small crater. So a tree had fallen after all.. or at least a section of one... but what he was most concerned about was the black and blue and... crimson coated figure lying motionless beneath. "CUBE!!" he shouted, hopping up from the ground and accentuating with his tiny club at the fallen creature... only to notice his trainer stooped, hands near his neck for some reason.. really close. Why was he looking at him like that...? And Erce... why did she look so distant? Like she wasn't even here... "cube? Cubone!?" He whacked away the boy's hands, snapping him back to reality, and Erce got the same treatment- couldn't have her just standing there like a statue when crazy shit was happening, now could he? "Wha...what? what was I....?" Mareek looked down, pulling his hands back to his side and rising to full height. "What happened? All that crap was floating in the air one minute and then... nothing..." "Good god... what the hell happened? Nemo, was I going to... no, no...why would I have... even thought about it..." Java could tell plain as day there was something bothering his partner, even if he didn't want to say it outright... though it was curious as to why him and Erce had seemed to be affected, but yet not himself or Nemo... at least not to the same degree as spacing out. He simply gazed at the figure himself now. "Cube!" again Nemo pointed to the small crater, tugging his trainer over to the rim with a surprising amount of strength for one so small. "Cube Cubone!" "Oh shit..." He turned to Java, not even having to give the order as he gingerly removed the fighting type from beneath the wreckage of wood and dirt, scrambling away before Java let it slam back down to the barren, psychically scared path of earth. The blood, the wounds, the mangled limbs... it was all so bad that he damn near thought it was dead before Java pointed out the fact that it's chest still rose and fell. "What do we do...? Surely, with these injuries... it will die long before we can get it medical attention..." "No she won't..." Mareek produced a single empty premier ball from his jacket, staring down at the young jackal's pained face only for a moment. "Not in here, at least... though it'll only slow it down..." With a tap on the forehead, the Riolu was engulfed in white and sucked inside the device. Three sakes in Mareek's hand, and not a bit of resistance on anyone of them- not that he expected she'd be able to break out in her condition anyway. "The power of whatever did this though... that feeling I got, how I was going for Nemo like that all of a sudden... It must've be an absolute monster to do... this. All for no reason, whatever that teal flash was..." "Lead the way back..." He ordered Java, keeping the capsule close. "And be damn quick about it..."- 1255 replies

[OOC/Sign-ups] Surge Story
Sutoratosu replied to Sutoratosu's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Like I said. It's not gamefreak's pokemon anymore. like the mission statement of this RP proclaims, we shall not hold ourselves hostage to their ways- we will follow our own. That is the surge story way. And... Is that technically not the more realistic route to take? And like I said... we ain't sugar coating anything- the concept of thinking of GAOWs as being nothing more than weapons will be a theme that plays heavily throughout whatever the plot is. Oh, and by the way. @everyone, this is up to a vote, encase I did not indicate it clear in the announcement of the potential consideration. Silence is not an option, if you're a player, you are required to cast a say in this matter. And for those who vote neigh- post suggestions on how to fix the fiasco that is the type matchup system then. Because I will not have some steep ass learning curve scaring away new people who are potentially interested, and I at the same time refuse to abide by the match-up system officially utilized by Gamefreak. I've been tackling this issue since near the beginning of things picking up, and I'm out of it- can't go on any longer like this. Ya'll gonna have to start getting involved in this a bit more. Afterall, you're like... my beta testers crew from this, you've participated through the first incarnation of it, seen how the developer has tried to make it work, been able to witness all the benefits and the flaws of the systems in place, so it would only make sense if you had some hand in helping to lay the ground work for the second coming. ((Yes, this is basically me asking for technical feedback and suggestions on the systems and mechanics used in the RP...)) EDIT: and by the way, these are the new names of the types. Their pretty straight forward, so confusion should be no issue here: EDIT 2: Hold on... I might be on to something here...cores... no, not armor cores, but... yes, I'm on to something here... Perhaps we can retain some type of match up system yet... I need to go see where this leads me. EDIT 3: oh yes... there is something with this. I may have to add a little something to the human biology, but... EDIT 4: Motha fucka... damn, well If I can justify it like that... it would be easy, eliminate the imposed learning curve and... son of bitch! All this time, wasted. They don got me good too, here I was, thinking I had to redo the type system, when in reality, all I had to fucking do, was figure out a scientifically believable way to justify it... all that time and sweat and tears, wasted by a simple realization *Flips the table over, sending papers flying everywhere and finally understanding how Ray probably felt in that one cut-away scene he wrote...* Yeah... I'll uh... go work this out and get back to you guys... stupid stupid stupid... how could i have been so stupid for so long...- 1189 replies

@everyone in Surge Story: Kill the Type Match-up system- Yes, or no? see the full explaination and my reason for considering it in the OOC and leave thoughts if you have them
-
Rough outline of my argument though:
-It would mean that skill and cleverness would be more of a factor in winning fights, instead of memorizing tables and matches
-It would be too much of a damn headache to actually implement all new type match ups, but the official ones are unacceptable as it is and can't stay either.
-lightens my work load, gets the RP up faster, and will be easier for new people to get involved if they don't have to face such a steep learning curve.
-
Not sure if you still want opinions on this based on your most recent reply, so I'll refrain until further notice.
-
-
Lols... guess you're right, might as well just go with it... it's just force of habit for me to attack Gamefreak like a rabid dog on certain things, you see...especially types and moves and such XD Guess I'll just have to learn to suppress it here though. But the old habits never go out easy... actually, maybe I should compartmentalize it rather than suppress it... yeah, that will likely work better, save it for the appropiate setting and turn it off around here...

[OOC/Sign-ups] Surge Story
Sutoratosu replied to Sutoratosu's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
I'm honestly considering abolishing the whole Type Matchup system to be honest... have things be completely dependent on tactics and strategy rather than some flawed Rock-Paper-Scissors system... though this in and of itself could cause issues for those match ups that actually make sense (EX: Ghost being scrambled by Photic/ Aphotic attacks, like we determined. To be honest, it would be a shit ton of work to go through and reorganize all the rest of them and think up of every situation, and since our resident Physics expert ditched us a few months ago...(And I'm too lazy to find another physicist willing to help). it would probably be TOO much damn work and cause the necessary development time to drag on longer than needed. Plus it would honestly avoid a lot of headaches that I know would occur with new players... just think about the massive learning curve of having to get used to all 18 types being completely redrafted with all new and different strengths and weakness. I mean, the idea seemed good at first, but in hindsight... honestly, it is something that would work better in a Fangame than it would in an RP setting... and a big learning curve will probably scare new folks away so yeah, might abolish the entire match-up along with levels. STAB makes sense though do to biological factors. so... that will likely stay. But this would mean that victory depends even more on how clever you are and how skilled rather than how well you memorized a bunch of matchings... IE, all types would be more or less on equal footing, no one would be inherently more or less powerful than anyone else just because of what type they have on their teams. How I would mitigate potential issues is via this- I am in the process on writing up basic Biological Profiles for everyone of the 18 types. They all have different uses and different strengths and adaptations because of their biology, however, the way it will be set up... As I said, no type will be inherently stronger when facing another one.- 1189 replies

I think you misunderstood the second question. the ground question wasn't related to the STAB question. what I meant by the question was: the reason why ground is listed officially as not affecting flying types is because of moves like EQ and Earth Power, right? Moves that either involve some form of seismic activity or direct physical contact between opponent and foe... having flyers be immune to those moves make perfect sense since... their not on the ground. but what about moves where that immunity would make no logical sense; moves that are not dependent on direct contact or seismic activity, but are instead based on projectiles- IE, bonemerang (which has already been discussed and decided as a yes), Hidden Power Ground, Mud Shot, and Mud Bomb? Since those are the only projectile ground moves... (well, there's also Thousand Arrows, but no mon can even learn it for some reason, so...)
-
And ground type projectile moves? regarding their effectiveness on Flying types/ foes with levitate? (I edited the post a bit before I saw you're response)
