[IC] Of Shadow and Flame: Beginnings

"Well this works out even better," Said Faust as he stowed his gun and recalled the electric force welling up in his palm, reinvigorated as it all returned to his reserves. There was still no way he'd get a clean shot with either lightning nor lead though... not with everyone and everyone's mother going after the overgrown feral pig... Which suited him perfectly- Seemed that the number of at least moderately experienced Magi more or less equaled out the number of obvious newbs. But by no means would he just walk away. Cause there would be questions from the others later on if he did, no doubt... "Back to being a watcher then..." He said, though even as the words left his lip, he was dashing for the ledge and pushing off hard with both feet. Blue plumes shot out for the briefest of moments as he barely made contact with the roof, pushing off yet again with a hard flap this time and not stopping till he'd cleared three more rotted risers. Just because he was going to sit back and watch, did not mean he was going to continue to sit out of his effective range and encounter the same problem he just had not even minutes ago. Something caught his ear as he landed, much closer to the action... and still holding the high ground. "Hey crazy people! What am I supposed to be doing now?!" "That girl though..." He glanced down from his lofty perch, sighing a bit at the inquiry posed by the young fool... for a fool was truly all Faust could classify her as in his mind- trying to ride such beast as if it were Wander und der Koloss... Did the child not know that slaying giants as if one were a fire ant would prove to be hazardous to one's health? Why, even a little Koloss could still prove a major risk to take..."She's likely to eventually die of stupidity at this rate, regardless of what I or anyone else does here." Despite his musings though... he never the less held out a hand beneath his azure plumes. They quivered... then quick as lightning, a single, blue feather shimmering in electricity shot into his hand like a car attracted to the sex appeal of an industrial super magnet in some junk yard somewhere. The warm, tingling bristles of the steel-strong plume glowed ever so slightly as he rolled it in between his fingers reminiscent to a knife, watching, waiting... and finally deciding that even the stupid deserved a chance. Though a wasted chance, it would probably indeed be. "Well, finding some cover would be a good job for you to fill." Faust called down to her. His spectacles gleamed in the light of the moon overhead as he gazed at the teen, stone-faced... he was already involved, so no use being mute about it at this point. -
I'm sorry, but I just found such a kick ass theme... The Lyrics: This is gonna be Mareek's after year two... don't now if it'll be for battle or character, but it damn well might serve as both. (If it becomes battle though, then Erce will gain it as her theme as well.) It just fits so well, ya'll don't even know... ((Disclaimer: the battles refer more to life battles, not pokemon battles... so yeah, just gonna stop that before any wise guy wants to say it.))
-
Oh...yeah, or that too, I guess... (Completely forgot about MH, lols XD) though if the beast are manifested from congealed emotions and not just indigenous, majestic beast that are slaughtered, than it might be more of God Eater burst since the Aragami didn't exactly just pop up out of nowhere either...
-
On a side note though, I don't know if anyone's cracked the weapons hint in the OP, but... my guess is that it's God Eater Burst- reason why: considering the fact that there are giant beast to be a... handled, lets say, and the apparent emphasize on weaponry; the original Gods Eater Burst utilized a rather interesting combat system where certain weapons, like slashing, crushing, and peircing, would be useless against certain enemies and very effective against others, and the sequeal actually added in a few more options aside from just just swords and such. Oh, and guns and ballistics could also play a major part in combat if one choose to go down those routes of strategy... so yeah, that;s my guess and the reason why.

Fuast said nothing as he surveyed the battle from afar, Glasses folded and eyes again blazing. Oh the joys of hawk-like vision... he could see so much more than his specs could ever provide him, could take number of all the crazies emerging from the wood work- from that tell-tell glint of a pair of binoculars in a window not too far away, to the two girls who'd shown up down below not long before the beast had emerged... to the Transformed man being tossed like a ragdoll, which he couldn't but wince a little at watching...but of everything he saw, nothing topped the cake, more than... "What is she doing?" He asked, genuinely vexed by the sight of one of the girls- looking no more than mid teens or so, clinging to the damn monster like some toddler on the leg of their parent... "Good lord..." The glow faded as he shook his head. "Either their all very new to this, aside from the caped man... or they're all crazy. Or perhaps a mix of both-especially that one..." While true, he had resolved to just watch and not participate... this had obviously gone past the point of necessary intervention- even IF he was a peacekeeper...He would not sit by and watch a bunch of apparent noobs get killed because of their stupidity; he'd been on the receiving end of bystander's apathy before, knew what is was like to have people watching yet not lifting a finger to help... and it still left a that same surge of bitterness it had months ago. And besides... now was the perfect opportunity to put the past few weeks of practice into actual play... There was just... one slight issue though... "This is a bit farther away than I've managed to stay on target... there's no guarantee I won't end up hitting her right along with the beast, or just completely miss the damn thing altogether and end up frying her." He sighed, calming his racing thoughts like spooked horses as he focused himself. A familiar teal blazed on his palm, igniting the scar tissue, filing the jagged line with it's ominous light before growing. expanding, lines and runes birthing outwards like spiders from an eggsake, connecting, forming, mating... until his entire palm was covered in a circular seal, rings spinning and words writhing on the skin like some living tatoo. It looked like it had that very night... but then again, the thing had never changed from what he could tell. Faust gazed up into the black heavens, than back at the beast below... He rose to his feet, extended his hand. He gave another push of his focus. The Sigil spun faster, glowed hotter, grew wilder, to the point where it damn near blinded his own self- which was entirely the point, if it were to be effective. "Alright, simple plan- a two part strategem... use a fourth of the energy to draw it over, use the remaining three fourths to fry it once it gets close... unless of course, the girl is too damn stupid to let go... in which case..." He drew the desert Eagle with his free hand, glad he'd already taken the liberty of ensuring it had one in the chamber ready to go before heading out tonight. "We'll just have to see how conductive these bullets are; see if I got stiffed..." And like that, he executed stage one of his plan, directing the growing charge and ordering it, and feeling that strange yet ever so familiar tautness and then silent snap in his mind. The sigil grew a bit brighter as the bolt formed and arced off through the heavens, lighting up every single rooftop around him, the effect more constituted of the sheer luminescence than actual destructive power... he could only hope the beast might take it's attention off the two obvious newbs and come to investigate... It wasn't exactly like he had infinite reserves, afterall... and he would also prefer to not have to be helped home in a classic "My buddy's drunk, yah." carry... 'cuase the groceries weren't exactly going to buy themselves after all this mess was done. -
Hmm.. think I'll have him currently be a bit more advanced in the non-combat applications of electricity considering his backstory and months as a vagrant- would've been plenty of opportunities practicing things like hotwiring cars, screwing with computers and electronics, recharging/ siphoning power from batteries, sensing electrical currents in machinery and utilities, learning to sense the electrical pulses of the nervous systems those around him... (though that last one will probably still need a bit of refining, maybe have him only be able to get a rough estimate of number and how far they are rather than anything exact, and slowly expand the capability of it over time. Basically the current scale would be for number- None, One, A few, A lot, and...Dayum!. and for distance is basically- Near, Over yonder, So far can barely even detect) EDIT: also, 4000 post achieved- yay me.
-
eh, guess I'll just flesh out the basic overall and final idea for his abilities and design how he'll progress in team over time... since most of his abilities revolve around highly advanced reflexes, and speed (how else do you think he wields a seven foot sword XD) which will all tie into his electrokinesis... since the human body is basically just one big electrical system in a way. Though the whole electricity thing will probably have more applications outside of combat than in it...

Pokémon Academy: Ch 3: Winter Cup [IC]

It wasn't long before the Fiery-headed Tactician made his way back to through the Med ward doors alone- Java having opted to stop following physically after a while and simply integrate back into the Dex's systems. The room had thinned out a bit compared to just earlier that morning; a few quick glances around and he spotted the Dark and Ghost-type trainer. "I saw most of your bout against that pompous little prick," He said, approaching the counter himself. "I kinda missed the ending though... did you manage to put that heracross back in it's place, or does Alvin still think he's hot shit?" It was only then though, that he noticed how utterly unnerved her face looked...far more then he knew a simple defeat would likely cause in and of itself "Is something... wrong?"- 1255 replies

well Faust is just sitting there, cool as a cucumber watching the insanity about to play out down below like some ghost... or perhaps more like an angel he's probably fitting the bill of a Peacekeeper rather well. I Wander how long before anyone notices that one German guy sitting on the dilapidated roof top spectating like it's a sports event though...

Like I said... i give such entries the finger. the whole gliding thing is precisely why she's going to run Sandstorm after Evolving, and it's partially the reason of why she runs vacuum wave. Though both of them also function as a means of completely nerfing fire, so they honestly serve dual purposes... and sandstorm has also been shown occasionally being used in an offensive manner in the anime. She'll primarily rely on manipulating the winds from Vacuum Wave to keep herself aloft and maneuver around, with sandstorm being more of a boost option that adds extra wind force behind the primary propulsion created by VW, and therefore speeds her up for the duration of it being used... basically, she'll be like an engine powered glider of sorts.
-
Like I said, it's only some that are pure BS. Most of them are relatively sound/ OK/ freaking consistent in what they describe and present. Like Scizor's for example... though I think that official weight at like... 220lbs might be pushing the boundary a bit considering the things been shown numerous times in the anime... Gliding on wind currents and updrafts. *Stares at Erce*
-
I've honestly come to beleive that some pokedex entries are absolute bullshit that Gamefreak made up because they thought it would sound cool to little kiddies... like with Macargo for example, common sense dictates that the earth would be a dead world, hell, not even a world, but just a bunch of vapor, if that thing was truly hotter than the sun. And then there's questionable things like the heights and weights for certain species, some of them, like Volcorona, make little sense because of conflicting depictions and scales (Ex. how in the anime, Volcorona was about the same height as Iris), and for things like Bergmite- it is said to be a small and roundish shaped mon, yet the officialy published weight is like, 220 lbs, and the fucking height is over 3 god damn feet. WTF, man, WTF? (I personally plan to have Son Jeor to be small and light enough in the Bergmite stage to be able to constantly ride on Mareek's shoulder, which is why I'm really kinda pissed about the BS for that line... plus if you look at it, it would make no sense at all given that Bergmites gather on the tops of avaluggs... which is about a little over 6ft or so... kinda awkward, don't ya think, if apparently so many like the gather that it looks like a naval aircraft carrier?) EDIT: I'll try to get a response up later for the whole stalking following thing
-
This right here, I ran into a bit of the same issue with Surge Story (Though I eventually just decided to say "Fuck you" to some of those pokedex entries and lore for certain species...) One justification though, is to have the bans have been made on a basis of controllability rather than on lethal potential alone, which is more or less what chim's already done with the psuedo legends- think about it for a minute... guns are deadly, yes, but what's more deadly? a high recoil machine gun in the hands of a complete amateur whose dicking around and doesn't know how to properly handle the destructive force in their hands, or a assualt rifle which could do the job just as well, but is wielded by a competent soldier who knows what the hell their doing? IE, something like a rampaging Garchomp versus the danger posed by something like a Chandelure which is relatively tamed... which is the bigger threat?

"Looks like I deduced correctly..." Fuast thought, slowing his pace and pressing himself flush against a weathered facade as two men came into view in the distance, his eyes blazing their natural violet as he shifted his glasses down the ridge of his nose, taking in every detail of the two with the enhanced eye sight. "A transformed man, though his form doesn't really give me too many hints about what his abilities might be... and then some whack job who believes this is a kung-fu movie apparently... seems like they might be hitting it off... excellent." The glow died down and he pushed the specs back into place with a single finger. "Let's just sit and observe for the time being, shall we?" He mused as he backtracked a bit, disappearing around the very corner he'd just rounded before. The imposing nature of the crumbling structure would've immediately shied him away from even thinking about it months ago... but now? Oh no, now, Fuast was used to rather paradoxical ideas. Barely gave it any thought at all, really- he could fly, after all. Even if the roof gave way under his weight, not like he couldn't pull off a quick bit of manuevering... "It's always favorable to hold the high ground." He said as he drew his arm forward across his body, fist curled into a tight knot as if about to unleash it like a taut tree limb... Then all at once, arm and wingspan burst forth into the night, the cold, electric blue of his plumes greeting him with their familiar crackle and spark. A crouch and a single, powerful flap, just like he'd been practicing over and over again for the past few weeks, and he was shooting upward like a bullet, dilapidated ground and debris of the run down streets falling away with the ascent. A few more strokes and his feet hit the shingles, a breif surge of satisfaction flowing when they didn't break through like touth picks into tissue paper. "Won't be needing this for some time..." The wing contracted and shot back into his back... and only then did he notice the draft. "Damn, that's right... I usually practice without a shirt... guess I'll have to fix that wardrobe issue when I get the time. But that's beside the point..." He gazed off in the distance as he lowered himself to a sitting position. "Time to observe..." -
yeah, but it would be a glass cannon... a big glass cannon, but still glass nonetheless. Yeah, I'll just go with the Vixen fox like originally planned...

I'm...sorry? so it CAN use physical moves, but yet I should reconsider the moveset? just think that was all worded kinda weird, lols EDIT: I'm shitting ya, I know what you mean, and honestly, even as a staute there are still moves it can make sense for it to still be able to use, like roll out, superpower, smack down, rock tomb, stone edge, rock slide, zen headbut... mostly ranged physical moves or physical moves that have some ranged firing method- IE, indirect physical moves. plus, honesty... how hard would it be for the thing to pick itself up with telekinesis (Pychic) in order to close the distance for something like Zen Headbutt? I got this stuff worked out... EDIT2: God fucking damn it... just took another look at the page... but ya know what? can still justifiably use indirect moves... he'll be like a turret. Or maybe I'll opt for work up instead... EDIT3: Screw it, where's melisandre? she can have her slot back...

"Aaaaaaaaaaaaand..." Java said as he watched the girl tear down the hall way breifly as he and Mareek walked at a brisk pace. "a there, she goes. That might be a problem..." "Hmm. no it won't- I can guess where she's probably going..." Mareek sighed, recalling the blow that Sneasel had taken from the prick's heracross... speaking of which, where was Alvin? Had the fool done as he'd predicted he would and turned that huge advantage of his into nothing but shit thanks to his arrogance, or had karma taken a nap just now and the prick was allowed to keep on thinking he was the cock of the damn walk? "Nevermind about that... later." "Come on, we're going to the medical center..." Java gave no response, only tagging behind yet again as his partner quietly followed Raiza's sprinted path...- 1255 replies

John A woman's voice answers the knock from behind the slab of steel. Her accent is identifiable as japanese almost immediately... as is the blunt and curt tone of her voice "What do you want?" James A woman answers the door as the storm of mist and fog gradually begin to ebb from beneath the foot. Her pitch black, silky hair cut into short bangs framing her face and eyes cold and gray as the steel door frame she leaned against, her clothing rather surprising- a formal suit that hugged her lithe form almost perfectly, complete with blazer and tie. "Show me the ticket." She said curtly, voice thick with her Japanese accent. From her expectant gaze she had obviously been expecting James... Kaz Nothing happened for a moment... then the door opened, and kaz found himself being dragged inside by the collar, steel slab slamming shut behind him. The dim light was barely enough to see by... but he could tell from the pressure on his ribs that he was on the floor, given the mist blowing in his face. "Shinji!" a woman's angry voice roared in Japanese. "Turn that fog machine off or I'll put a damn bullet in it this time!" Lucas "Chauvinistic pig..." Jenny thought. She barely even spared the man the split second it took to make the necessary eye contact. Arms crossed, she went right back to monitoring the junior mixologists... while her true work unfolded. "I'm not even going to bother wasting the effort to read you- Bane would probably kill your type anyway..." "Being a woman, doesn't make me your plaything..." It started as strange ebbing sensation in Lucas's mind... something in the back of his mind, and then like an atom bomb, it all detonated. Lights, Sounds, voices, memories, thoughts... all rushing through his skull like a freight train, faster and faster, brighter, louder, more insistent... and Lucas found there was nothing he could do. He didn't even know how, but within an instant he was slumped on the floor, curling himself into fetal position as several concerned patrons looked on at the episode of twitching and flailing... all the while Jenny seemed aloof to it all, grinding her teeth. "Jenny...Jenny, please..." whispered through her ear as the press of a familiar body presented itself against her back. The same underling who'd served Lucas' martini placed a gentle hand on her shoulder, eyes placating... "Please, Jenny... you'll kill him. Stop." "...Tch." She sighed, again glancing at Lucas as he writhed on the floor involuntarily, nervous system haywire from the overload of sensory data being force freed through his frontal lobe. "Fine..." And like that, with that one, simple word... the mental barrage began to lift, ebb and flow away as the tide of images and sound began to stem... ((Typhlosion, Lucas is currently recovering from a case of extreme shock from the ordeal. the Turn order: Typhlosion, Kenny, Yash, Exlink))

ya know, I'm a damn fool sometimes, dancing mad across a barren wasteland of boredom... I just realized that Gothitelle's prescence makes both delphi and Melisandre... unnecessary on the team... sigh *gives Azelstan order 66* So Delphi's going along with swiss to become exiles... she'll likely be replaced with claydol because- Claydol gets TP, and can levitate, so... Melisandre on the other hand... she may yet survive the purging- given she IS the only fire type on the team... HOWEVER. There IS another... ------> Him... this one's ability of Zen Mode... coupled with his access to bellydrum as a level up move... and good defenses and superior offense AND defense capabilities *chuckles maniacally as he sends away Melisandre too* yes... I'm a damn fool sometimes... but this, was not one of them. Here, take an updated trainer card for his final main team...

I wonder... could Java... go INSIDE a metagross's head? just a weird ass thought... that and... Java can talk. even though it's a super computer, Metagross despite being featured numerous times, has never once displayed or been implied to have communication skills with humans... maybe it's just a failure of gamefreak logic though, since neither has the porygon line to be honest, but since their claimed habitats is inside labs and buildings assisting human scientist... i just went with something that logically probably be a trait that was needed in order to facilitate such a niche- IE, java can talk using screens and other such things...
