[IC] Of Shadow and Flame: Beginnings

"Feels like it's getting stronger over there..." Faust thought to himself, the sound of sirens all but confirming the strange tugging he'd been getting in the back of his mind. A single, calm wind blew in the night as he reached for his lone physical weapon, the subtle reassurance of warm steel caressing his scarred palm. lonely in the absence of it's sister gun... right along with the bundle of Yen bunking with the deadly little device. The feeling only grew in intensity all the while... "Guess Groceries might have to wait a bit longer..." He sighed in German. "though chances are, if I'm feeling it, so are others. Time to investigate, I suppose." He cast a single, lingering glance on the streets around him... no one else out and about in this part of town, it seemed. He could fly if he wanted... "Hmmm... no. " he set off with a brisk pace, making sure to keep an eye out for anything... crazy in the meantime. "I'll have to simply book it. with only one of them on me, I should try to reserve enough power to get physical if needed- though of course, if no weapons are needed at all, it'll be all the better... but safe over sorry, as they say." -
Reasons why no Metagross Don't feel like making a unique persona for it since another PC already has one we do not use Psuedo legendaries on team Akira. Period. Those members on it are not naturally endowed with high power- they instead gain it through endeavor and through strengthening the bonds they share with one another- in other words, joining the family, fire emblem style, is ultimately what makes them powerful in the end, not psuedo legend status. Reasons why no Bronzong That, and... honestly, they have to have roles outside of battle as well as in it, and Java can fullfill a metagrosses potential functions outside of battle just as well, if not a bit better even, due to his ability to go inside computer and electronic systems. And Bronzong... really would have no use to Mareek out of combat... or in it, to be honest. And his and JAva's relationship is going to mirror that of two other individuals with connections to his past... i've already introduced one of them- back in the very first IC post I ever made for this...

Good. that just means I'm writing him like I intended to then. cause... Erce is great and all, but... the kid needs someone he can legit have a conversation with and turn to every now and again... who doesn't have to play charades in order to respond. Also, regarding the team... I just noticed that Gothitelle has access to both heal pulse and heal bell... *Begins drafting malpractice suit against Dr.Swiss...* That brings the type count up to... 3 Steel 3 Psychic 1Ground 1Normal 1Ice 1Electric To be honest, I was kinda hoping to gear him up to become a steel-type specialist someday... though I guess it could go either or just as well... or hell, maybe he could specialize in both Steel AND Psychic types...yeah, I'm liking that one... can work just as well. I like it very much in fact, so that's what I'll do... a hard outer shell and a strong mind/ a bunch of psychological and emotional shit bubbling under the surface... see? the metaphors even go along nicely with the two of them together. BTW, Gothitelle's line gets Meganium line's place in the year one planned roster now.

Java and Mareek "...Yes sir." Mareek said after a while. He honestly didn't know how he felt, ironically... baldwin had been completely right in a way- he'd known it even as he chewed out the other loner earlier, but it had all taken second place in his mind to trying to make up for having been a dick for the past few hours. But he'd still known... and that suppressed knowledge now had it's vengeance; it's due recompense at being downtrodden, fleeing it's prison like a bird in bondage and leaving in it's feathered wake a bitter-sweet blob of reality for it's captor to find... "Come on..." Java said after he returned the dex and hooked up the audio jack himself. "and I implore you... just stop with that look, it's the second time in less than an hour I've seen you make it. My systems can't stand it's visual data for some reason... this outcome is precisely the reason I even advocated going along with talking to the professor" "Hold up, what? So all that... the slapping, the berating, everything..." That lone revelation in and of itself officially tipped the balance in bitter's favor. on top of all of it, he apparently couldn't trust java to be straight forward... "Oh no no no, that was all real- i did it all because of how you were behaving... but yes, this is why I wanted it." The porygon2 let his gaze drift off like a ship lost at see, landing on Devin before long, then back to Mareek. "I did to keep you from potentially doing something rash and foolish in the future. This is a potential terror organization like those that rose in the past we could be talking about here... and as much as I dislike being the one to have to reveal this to you: a lone bunch of fifteen year old students are not going to be anywhere near enough to stop it on their own. I know how you feel, and because I know how you feel, I also know that you're blinded by those emotions, that you are focused on the goal itself and not the potential circumstances or scenarios that could arise and serve as obstacles. And that blindness would lead to foolishness, and... foolishness is often more than enough to get a person killed." Mareek said nothing, though the conflict he was feeling was plastered plain as day on his face. Java drew a little closer. "Let the professor and the faculty handle it, Mareek... they're far more qualified for it than you or any other student. Just let it go...." "But if I...just... just let it go, stand by and do nothing..." the boy muttered dismally. "then that would make me just as worthless as they are..." "But that's just it- you won't be just sitting back and doing nothing, you'll be doing quite the opposite: continuing your own training and getting stronger so that some day, you yourself will have the power to step up and intervene where others choose to sit and watch. You want to take action, but understand that sometimes, biding ones time and preparing is a wiser course, and besides... foolishness gets you dead, and you won't be able to help anyone if your dead." * * * * * * "Fine" Mareek sighed, defeated. His eyes glimpsing the cold cement floor and his hands lost in the unknowable depths of his pockets, seeking comfort there like some wounded Urasing would in a Cave's bowels. He walked past Java and out of the open door, leaving it all behind. As much as he might not want to hear it, the argument had been a good one... and the Strategist was only looking out for him, in a way. Perhaps he'd been right- perhaps... He was just taking all of this far too fast when he should be taking steps back in order to prepare. And besides...Prof.Cadmus was indeed probably the best person for a great many miles around to be dealing with the whole thing, when he actually stopped and thought about it. "How long before the match?" He asked as they walked. "There's two more before it comes to us," Java said, not missing a beat. "And speaking of which-" "Do whatever you want out there. use whatever tactic you want- you and Erce are at the point where you could honestly fight just as well with me doing nothing but sitting there and watching like an audience member, and I'm sure you can beat that Duskull no problem... even if James decides to go with a hit and run or a stealth or a annoying status spam strategy like I'm thinking he might. And besides-" He turned, smirking at Strategist. "You said you wanted to get to the finals, right? then I'm sure you'll have more than enough motivation not to be outdone or outsmarted out there, right?" Java began circling about in the air, rising up and down seamlessly at face level with the boy. That right there... that was absolute music to his ears- free reign on the battle field, a chance to decimate those who dared to stand in the way of his path back to pride and unveil a few of the nasty little tricks he'd been building up in his non-existant little sleeves... oh yes, this would be marvelous, absolutely... marvelous. "So... are you up for a retry of our little search from earlier?" He stopped his little jig of preemptive joy... a challenge, eh? "Are we looking for her again then?" "Yeah," Mareek said, glimpsing up at a nearby monitor to see Raiza's battle over. "Though I think we'll have much better luck this time around and Nemo won't be able to steal the thunder... let's check the waiting room first; the one Raiza should be returning to... much easier than checking the stands and the audience." The normal type only gave a confident nod. Then the two turned around and headed back towards the way they had come... heading back towards the waiting rooms.- 1255 replies

Yes, unfortunately, bullets have a tendency to sometimes hold their conversations over bowls of chunky salsa, so the chats... never last very long in those cases... Swords though... swords have plenty of time to finish what their saying- don't have to worry about the guy croaking before you can even open your mouth to start...unless of course, the sword makes him a good head of two shorter XD

lols... we somehow go from calling attacks to talking about E-reader tablets... Anyway, think I'm going to run a bit of the one winged angel theme for Hans/Fuast, whatever you all will choose to call him... though more from the angle of the one winged angel before he fell from grace and gained that wing in the first place, have that particular ability to even grow it be more of a final resort thing of his along with full on transformation. like sephiroth before going cray-cray and genocidal... though in all honestly He'll probably be the type to try to talk and reason with you before any actual fighting begins, try to avoid a clash... but after a certain point of seeing shits not gonna go peacefully, will just shut up (and probably stay quiet for the entirety of actual combat unless communication is really nessacary) and take out that big ol' sword and not give a damn about words...because at a certain point talk will just get cheap and actions will speak volumes more than words did...

Mmmm....I don't quite know about pride; I do not yet see the darkness this one harbors in her inner heart... but knowing you, I am sure the fires of the eternal struggle shall bloom forth in full glory, engulfing all who dare stand to near to the blaze and from it's pressure eventually produce the diamond of human endeavor and the truest form of character development, all within due time... do not disappoint me, young padawan...But I've faith in you :feelsgd: <<((Yoda Face))

:3 Indeed... 'MURICA! he very heavily is the visual influence/ inspiration for an upcoming pc of mine in another RP...

Well, not like I got much else to do... procrastinating on school work has already been accomplished, I can't do any CWs until I build another damn world for it, my own rps I myself am running are in the slow line at the time... I don't have much else to do except sit around munching on a huge plate of nothing... So yeah, I spend time going through and developing mareeks team dynamic and their move sets. all out of boredom... I also take duct tape to pens when I'm bored shitless... among other things.

Finished the backstory. Also, @Hukuna: I'm a bit late saying this, but I Called it; VixenXD EDIT: also @Hiss: I'm pretty sure what murdoc means by that is the people who say they're intending to sign up but who at this time have no character sheet up at all/ one that's like only half done or something.

Something regarding weapons eh? Anyways, I've updated my reserve post with my sign up sheet. let me know if there's anything that needs altering or fixing. I kinda just ended the backstory on a cliffhanger because I'm not all too sure how to go about having him already sided with the peacekeeper faction by the time of the plot's opening, so, yeah... that's kinda just incomplete at this point, but everything else is done more or less. and just to clarify, it was Christmas time of 2014 that the events of his initial back-story transpired, so he's been "Aware" in a way for just the past few months of so. And yes, #Sephiroth

Hmmm.. interesting. I once considered running Rain Dance on Erce... then I found a whole playground of new tactics to take care of fire... and thus the heat training began... The more I think about it though... the more and more it seems like Erce is going to end up fighting like an aerial-to-ground Armored Core of sorts, able to attack from afar and still be deadly up close, Especially with how Intend to use V-wave, S-storm, and HP rock and the other two moves (All her attacks will ones that get technician boost)... only question though, is whether to giver her Iron Defense, Swords Dance, or Agility? Iron Defense is the original and current plan, speaks to her job and such in a metaphorical way and speaks to the collected and reserved part of her persona and everything, though so does the very fact that she gained metal armoring from evoing in the first place... With Swords Dance, she can rely a bit more heavily on the threatening and protectively vicious part of her personality, but seeing as how she's the one who's supposed to reign in the boy when he needs it, that might not make too much sense... though Im sure I could spin it in a way that would, if I decide for it. And Agility... I already have something in mind with S-storm and V-wave's winds, so...oh, and there's also a certain attack move she'll have which will further subvert it's worthiness of a slot, so...

Oh, yaw... one thing i forgot to tell you guys... there is another aspect of this verse which makes it a bit like MGS in terms of overall theme and genre- we have paranormal shit in this world too, yaw, not just AIs and ETs and laser weaponry and superdrugs, yaw... In all seriousness though, yes, there are paranormal things that exist in this world. And there are people who actually study it as a field... *Glances over at certain scientist working for the rebellion...* but by this point in time, there's not as much myth surrounding the concept as there is in our own world because- well, genuine progress has been made in understanding certain... things. Oh the fun I will have screwing with you guys from time to time...

John the same crimson decor and theme opened before john as he trekked down the narrow space. The dim, ominous overhead lighting the walls themselves and the plush carpet coalescing into a perfect marriage in the man's vision, so ruby and deep in it's color depth one would probably think some poor young virgin was sacrificed none too long ago on that very floor. If john squinted hard enough after a few paces, he could notice a haze of sorts... misty, curled tendrils crawling along the floor as wraiths crawled the earth looking for souls, gaining inch by inch by inch as they found the domination through the hallway and around his feet... The second door on his left seemed to be the birth place of the mist, bouts of it spewing forth from it's foot even now... James "Two in a row... looks like things are going to get interesting" Thought Jenny, barely even glancing at the ticket or the man... no, for what she needed to glimpse was far beneath the surface, the facade of flesh and bone. God, how it still disgusted her even now how vulnerable the average person always was, day or night... like an open book, just sitting there waiting to be read by her... if she were the type of scum to actually read them, that is..."Back Hall," She finally sighed. looks like she wouldn't get to make scrambled eggs out of this one either. "Second door on the left..." And just like that, she was more interested in her underlings than the Rebel Wannabe. Kaz "Threes always a disaster..." she sighed to herself, again barely glancing at the ticket, just as she had all the others- it was all she needed, really... just a single moment, and she was in. And it was every bit as uninteresting as the other two blokes. "Alright, what the hell's going on here...? Out of all you roaches from the woodwork, not one of you's plotting anything?" "Well..." She smirked, scoffing a bit "Isn't this a first...? Back hallway, second door on the left..." Lucas "Hmm? Oh, no, no, not at all, sir..." she said as she followed Lucas' order to the letter, before long presenting him with what may damn well have been the best martini he'd ever seen- why... it would almost be crime to down such a work of art...almost... "Well, I guess at first she probably does...but once you get to know her..." She shrugged, moving on the fill the next order. "She's just... different, I guess you could say..." ((Turn order will be dissolved soon. for now however, it goes as follows: Kenny, Yash, Exlink, Typhlosion))

I got one question: Is that Scizor a Glider or a Land crawler? from the moveset, I'm assuming it's a land crawler primarily.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: The Return(OOC)
Sutoratosu replied to grasssnake485's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
uh... guyz, hate to interupt here, not trying to be a dongus or anything, but... yeah, kinda got a new signup a few days ago :/ I'm not really sure if my abilities extend to being able to accept new people if there are open slots, but I'm pretty certain it doesn't since... that's kinda a high up power on the scale of RP Host abilities, usually held only by creators... so yeah... and this too. do you want to temporarily move things around all across the story while your sick, or should I just stick to tempest for now like I've been doing? -
Name: Seth Keiser Gender: Male Age: 27 (March 15, 1988) Appearance (Normal): Stands at 5"9, with a strong yet graceful physique and a medium complexion. His hair is a faded, golden brown, kept in a short style featuring parted twin bangs framing his forehead. Seth's eye color is a rather vibrant and unsettling shade of hazel; aside from them though, his face is most notable for it's oval structure and high cheek bones, coupled with an Aquiline nose. He typically wears an unfastened Silver Blazer overtop of a dark grey, casual dress shirt, complete with gray trousers bloused into black combat boots reaching up to his upper calf. Around his neck he can almost always be seen wearing a tattered, worn white scarf. Appearance (Transformed): His attire largely remains unchanged; however, An ominous presence begins to exude off of Seth as the Sclera of his eyes transition from white to a deep, abysmal black and his irises change from their natural- albeit slightly unsettling -amber tone to a far more haunting, radiant green, both of them trailing with a ghostly aura of the same color with every motion he makes. Black, vein like markings crisscross outwards, starting from the area around his eyes and then making their way across his entire body. His canines extend and become wolf-like fangs, as do the rest of his teeth, though to a lesser extent. The aura of power around him causes his body to levitate just slightly off the earth, and the very ground beneath him to be transformed into black fertile soul, which various Flora begin to prosper in. Any wilted or dead plant-life in his vicinity seems to become revived by his mere presence, and lifeless, barren soil becomes black and fertile once more, even if it never was to begin with. Personality: Willing to stand by his convictions and fight for what he believes in, regardless of the ridicule or doubts of others. He seems to hold a considerable level of disdain for the common Protector methodology and mentality, often describing it as pointless, naive, and self-perpetuating. Though he might seem at a glance to be generally calm, collected, and laid back, he conceals a far harsher side to himself, most apparent in the fact of just how quickly and abruptly he can become eerily serious and cold. He prefers to use the word "Chimeras" rather than the typical "Beasts" when referring to magically-born monsters. Weapons of Choice: Though Seth has a preference to using his actual magic as his main offense, His go-to melee arms are the blade and the whip. He has developed his own solutions to foes sticking to longer ranges, however he still carries a .45 ACP Luger Pistol as a last resort- with a few enhancements made to the weapon using his own energy. Backstory: Power Origin: Shard Faction: Deviant (Ex Protector)

*Needs to bullshit a paper at the last minute, decides to do it on procrastination and use imagery language gained via fiction writing*
-
I DO find that that's a legitimate benefit of writing fiction though, I shit you not... after doing it for a while in stories, one tends to find that they can carry over that skill set of making an audience suspend disbeleive... by mesmerizing them with page inflation and needless words and similies that all in all... make the speech feel more like a story than a speech.
-
Sounds exactly like one of my friends who does this nearly all the time. He does score pretty damn high on his papers somehow.
Good luck with yours mate.

I've gone ahead and changed up Erce's final move set abit... obviously I will not tell what it is this time around, but one major change is that she'll be running Hidden Power Rock as one of her two special attacks, just to further spite all fire types... and she'll also be getting some extensive training in that area... though to be honest, she'll eventually get trained in every category of stat since she'll always be with Mareek and by default take part in every single training session in some way shape or form. actually... hell, i've got ALL the movesets for each member of the team worked out, and all the current movesets of Galen's team worked out as well (Which are available in his character sheet). Galen's will more or less remain static (And yes, the electivire carries a combo of HP water and Thunderbolt for a reason... *grins darkly*) the entire time from this point on (Though his team levels might have to start actually raising once the student pcs start catching up a bit, I'll probably have to make a note to talk with chimchain about that when the time comes). Mareek's though is more or less focused on a Pokemon Reborn gym leader style- mainly prioritizing covering an individual mons weakness before anything else. though the individual personas and roles of his team members more or less tie into this and go along with it, like for example, Azelstan will be carrying Surf, but will already be carrying it by the time of his and Mareek's first encounter due to certain events in his backstory... the basic gist of which is pretty much congruent with where I got the name... (He'll actually be encountered at least one time before actually being added to the team, with Brienne first meeting him by herself on the first encounter and being angered by something he says, challenging him to a fight and losing due to a sizeable level difference even despite her type advantage). Erce will be carrying both Vacuum wave and Sandstorm, which both help deal with fire and tie into her own role and style in battle; Brienne will run a combo of Iron Defense, Steel Wing, and Aerial Ace- going with the theme of her being a "Knight" of sorts, and so on and so forth...

Um yes, can you explain a bit more on the nature of shards? for example- Are there only specific areas in an environment where they can be found, or do they more or less randomnly pop up anywhere where there's enough latent energy? Also, after having one's abilities...er, "awakened" or granted by a shard's energy, does one need to keep said shard on hand to maintain their gained abilities, or can it be cast aside afterwards?
-
so, found a new theme for Galen: Think i'll replace Smooth Criminal with it. or maybe keep it as a gag one.

Pokémon Academy: Ch 3: Winter Cup [IC]
Sutoratosu replied to Chim's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Galen "Yes well... don't worry about that, little birdie..." Said Galen after the child had left. He still mused over the lake as his hand retrieved the Fox's capsule and she was called back to her home in a flash of crimson. "I'll be sure not to use any of you for field work from this point anyway, given how damn lazy you lot are... lucky you, you get to be relegated to whisperers for me. Hopefully you make better spies than grunts... though I highly doubt it... so it looks like in all honesty, I might as well be soloing this thing. But hell, who am I even kidding. This whole mission was doomed to fail right from the beginning, what does it matter what I do now? Not like it'll change anything at this point. I might as well... just keep up the little play, act like I actually care just a bit longer...but it's all gonna crash down, it always has in history, when the little kiddies get involved...just like it did with that little prodigy who handed our asses to us like there was no tomorrow back in kanto. And then that other bunch back in Johto..." He sat down in the grass by the calm shores. His hand reached inside his shirt and pulled out the small pendent that hung there- the twin infinity-like extrusions of the Lord Arceus dangling perilously from the silver Omega Chain and it's set disk of Clear Quartz gleaming in the center as the afternoon light filtered through. The cloak of chocolate brown was cast aside and his eyes once beamed with their cold, ice blue as he stowed the lenses into their case. Those same cold blue eyes that had watched it all those years ago, that had gazed into those eyes just like them. Those eyes that had see so much and yet had been blind for so long on their journey's. "Tch... I'm a damn coward..." He scoffed bitterly. The pendant twirled in the air as he twisted his fingers like a puppeteer, casting it's glint to and fro. "A coward's all I've ever been, a coward and a screw up. Even though back then I hated him so much... I couldn't get rid of this thing, couldn't just toss it into a river and be done with it. I was stupid... stupid and childish, and that's precisely the reason I'm even sitting here now. He gave me a path out, even despite it all, he still loved me enough to try- to give me another shot at a future... and what did I do that day? I left it all in ruins, not just my own, but everyone's, moms, mareek's...and certainly his. Thankfully... I've managed to rebuild the future they should've had all along... maybe through less than moral means, maybe through things that I knew were wrong, but what matters is at least I've repaired that bit of destruction. But I'm still sitting in the dark, and there's no one to blame but myself. I should've just listened... should've trusted him." He clasped the heirloom tightly in his fist, silencing it's gentle light and tucking it back against his chest where it belonged- in the dark, just as his own self. How old had he been? How many years had he had it? Fifth-teen? Fifth-teen sounded about right, yes, he could recall. It was right around the same time Mareek had been born. Of course the infant was getting all the attention, and as much love as he had for the little brother, there was no denying the feeling of being glossed over he'd felt then. And what did father have for him that night, but this gem here? This thing, so buetiful and fine yet filled with so much history. This thing, apparently passed down through the male line of the family for so long, father to son, and in some cases, brother to brother... "He probably hates me now..." he whispered. "Probably hates me with just as much intensity as I once did another. I wouldn't be surprised if he wants me dead, and to be honest... If i had to choose a way to go, he'd be the only person I wouldn't mind dealing that blow... Except for the fact that if he does, the cycle starts all over again and he'll be on the same path... and I won't let him stumble, not like I did. I won't let her lose both sons out of hatred... I refuse. But if he knows... it's likely just a matter of time before we have to inevitably collide, for the first and the final time." He got to his feet, brushing off the grass from his coat and putting his contacts back in... though to be honest he could see fine without them. One last, lingering look over the calm waters... and then it was back through the underbrush, back the way he'd came. "Guess I should prepare myself... prepare for a divergence."- 1255 replies
