[OOC] Gaelach Basm: The starting point

Question: Would silver be a Bane against Vampires and Werewolves like it is in most other Fantasy settings, or is that not the case for this particular world? -
[IC] Gaelach Basm: The Starting Point

Maya had no comment for Kryst introduction of himself, thoroughly unimpressed by the man's apparent cockiness. She couldn't help but smirk a little at Iain's remark though... even if her mind was far from amused. Watch, we sit here and joke now, but chances are this cocky swordsman here will end up putting us all in needless peril at some point, or perhaps several points... the types most filled with Bravado are always the ones who make the dumbest mistakes and put the least effort into thinking things through, Freyl and I both saw that time and time again on the streets. she let the rather misleading expression fade from her face though as the last member they needed approached from nowhere, claiming to posses the ability to turn anything to...wait, did he say...? "Did you say Gold, ser?" She asked him, her hand taking a single arrow from her quiver and whirling it around in her fingers, holding the head in her palm as she offered it to the man. "Would you be so kind as to demonstrate? forgive me, I'm merely curious is all..." -

"The opening, eh?" he asked as Sissy headed off for the stage. "Could be fun, I guess. And I don't see anyone else looking for orders or anything, might as well close down for the evening." He looked over at Lana as he stowed the box back beneath the counter, making sure it was well hidden from anyone who would try snooping around the stand. "What do you say? wanna go watch them?"- 1255 replies

[OOC/Sign-ups] Surge Story
Sutoratosu replied to Sutoratosu's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Hmm... Someone said a word. Yes, it is indeed infected with pokerus... but unfortunately, pokerus does not exactly cause 'funny, near rabid like behvaiour' in the infected, and as such is not actually what is "wrong" with it. Challenge is still on, folks, and a little hint: it's not limited to a virus or disease. can be anything...anything at all so long as it makes some type of sense... and another hint; what's wrong with it is the result of a certain move which I have altered the effects of to make more sense in accordance to it's name sake... there are two answers which I am willing to accept...- 1189 replies

Surge's team A strange silence had fallen over the entire fire team after the telepathic reprimand was made, one which had stretched on from several seconds, to nearly a good five minutes or so. The only noise that finally broke it was Surge taking out the walkie talkie unit from his bag and holding the transmission button, sending out a steady stream of static noise as he brought it up to his lips, knowing that Robertson and his men were taking too long since he wasn't back yet and he didn't see anyone down on the streets below. "Corporal Robertson, come in," He said, voice stone cold and serious as he tried to hail the soldier. "What is your situation and current location, I repeat, what is your situation and current location? respond." Jory "Corporal Robertson, come in," Jory suddenly heard his Commander's voice crackle over the Talkie, sounding deadly serious on the frequency. "What is your situation and current location, I repeat, what is your situation and current location? respond." Meanwhile Lionel could be seen jogging over to the corporal's position from his former cover he'd taken while advancing into the housing areas, weapon drawn and his crow GAO out and flying overhead. "Sorry I was gone, Corporal," he said as he drew closer, not even the least bit out of breath from his sprint. "I was doing recon in the burbs to try to find where to make the next push for cover, came running as fast as I could though when I saw that giant turtle blitz right past me and Shadow towards your position... it was surprisingly quick despite how monstrously huge it was..." It was only as he finished that noticed the trampled undergrowth and trail of destruction leading from the woods and the fact that Lars and Logan were no where to be seen... but yet there was no blood and no mangled bodies anywhere either, so they probably hadn't been killed by what he was chasing... "Sir, what happened to Lars and Logan?" he asked, kneeling down as examining the disturbed earth and broken tree limbs, all the while a single thought welling up in the back of his mind. "Hope they didn't fall victim to some type of power like I heard Erick's partner used back at the Tarmac..." Dr.Ray and Prof. Oak "You're absolutely right, Ray," Oak said, fanning through the piles and piles of paper his impatient young student turned colleague had flung to the ground in his frustration, skimming over all the research and notes as he turned back to face the man. I could easily see where things had gone ary... "You are indeed a Biologist and Genetic Scientist... but that doesn't change the fact that you completely went about this whole research project like you were a physicist." "Wait, what?" The Doctor asked, a look of genuine perplexion coming over his face as he stood from where he leaned against the over turned desk. "What the hell are you talking about? Everything I did from sqaure one-" "Was done from the standpoint of a thesis bound primarily in Physics rather than Biological makeup," Oak said, seemingly interrupting the man but in truth simply correcting what he was about to say. "That's where everything went wrong in this project; you went off of the same thesis that the person tasked with it before you used instead of developing one based on your own knowledge and expertise..." He tossed the neatly stacked papers over to his former protegee, watching without sympathy as Ray barely managed to keep them from spilling back onto the ground. "It's not plagiarism because it's stated that it's not your own in the status report, but It's still laziness, Urban. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't somewhat disappointing in how you neglected the most basic step of the scientific process; developing a hypothesis." With that said, the older man began to walk towards the door way of the lab, passing right by the Hawaiin Prodigy without even a glance. "If this were class, I'd have failed you on the spot. You're slipping from your standards, my boy, see to it you don't let it continue... because I will put forward a formal request to have you reassigned if you start getting sloppy on me." "You're kidding me..." Ray said, wanting to face palm himself for such a stupid mistake right off the bat. "It was that, of all things? that's what fucked everything up?" "Indeed... and I suggest you start over immediately, torch every single physical research note and delete everything off the computer banks." Oak started heading through the door, pausing half way. "And just a suggestion, this time to start off, you may want to conduct a field study of the GAOs and their handlers...luckily for you there's no better time than now." and then he was gone, and the slab of metal slid shut on it's own. Erick & Genisa "I'll tell you somethin' kid," Corporal Quantico griped in a thick Chicago accent from where he stood beside Erick up in the Guard Tower, assualt rifle in hand as his palms and face dripped sweat like bullets in the June heat and the humidity. "The climate of this damn base is freaking unpredictable; in the winter it's cold as shit, and in the summer it's so damn hot you actually wish it would go back to being winter, In spring we get storms that could rival Katrina down in New Orleans, and those fucking wind storms that come in every autumn could rival the ones we would get back on my home turf..." "It's not unpredictable then, sir," Erick said simply as he kept a watch on the perimeter, seeing as his superior here wasn't intent on doing it... "They're simply in extremes with every season." "Oh, son of a general and you're a certified meteorologists too?" Quantico mocked. "Look, Freeman, I'm telling you, the higher ups have some major project or something going down around here, somethin' deep beneath the base, somethin' that's fucking around like the weather like mother nature herself is it's bitch," "Indeed, sir," Erick said plainly, not even listening at this point as he brought the binos up to his eyes and peered through them at a certain dog like GAO which was acting a bit funny... like rabies funny. "Genisa," he said, knowing full well the psychic could hear him. "See if you can get inside that things head, if there's anything left of it's mind." "Roger..." she replied in his mind. "Hey, are you listening to me?" Quantico asked, turning to face the young MP. "But of course sir..." Erick lied through his teeth. "Fascinating theory sir, very interesting..." "Hey don't you Bull Shit me kid!" his superior warned. "I am the king when it comes to bull shiting around here!" "Indeed you are..." Erick heard Genisa mutter in his mind. "And a loud mouth to go along with it. Anyway, it's not rabid like you think, Erick..." "What is it then?" "I don't know, but obviously something's wrong with it. The best chance to figure out what is to capture it and submit it for actual study..." "Are you talking to your little psychic bitch again?" Quantico sneered, getting in his face, forcing him to pay attention to him. "You know, I think there's something going on between you and her... Zoophili-" He was cut off by suddenly being thrown from the tower like he'd been rammed by a bull, flying over the edge and tumbling to the ground like a rag doll, only to be caught before he could make impact with the hard packed ground. before he even knew what was going on, he was hurtling back up through the air by his feet, coming up to face level with Erick in the air. "Do you know how much you annoy and disgust me?" Genisa's Telepathy called in the air, audible to both of them. "You talk and you talk on and on about pointless things and leave the work to those around you like some bum, and you never shut your mouth or bother uttering anything that can actually be useful to the task at hand...." she released her psychic grip for a second, allowing him to plumet a few feet; a ride which earned a girlish scream from the soldier before she resumed her invisible grasp. "This ain't funny, Freeman!" Quantico shouted indignantly. "Call her off, kid! else I'll give ya somethin' to remember my fist by!" "I can break your body if you're going to go issuing threats to people..." "Freeman!" "Stun it, but don't kill." "Wait, what!?" as an answer for his question all Quantico got was the sight of a small bolt of electricity arcing through the air and hitting some weird looking Dog GAO, making the thing spasm a little before falling over and gazing up hatefully as a Capsule hurldled down from the tower and absorbed it in a blaze of scarlet light. All the while Quantico had been slowly lowered in the air while he'd been panicking, Genisa releasing her hold entirely and letting him drop a good meter or so to the ground. "Gaaaaah! Oh..." "Get it." Genisa ordered in his mind, using her abilities to forcefully directing his attention to the sphere lying on the ground. "We're not letting you back inside the perimeter unless you do." "Erick!" "Don't look at me, sir," was all he had to respond with. "You're the one who offended her, and she honestly has a mind completely of her own... you eventually learn the wrath that Psychics can dish out and what sets them off if you stay around them long enough, sir..." ((Challenge time: Guess in the OCC thread what's wrong with the GAO that's been captured in this scene, and I will randomly promote one of your team members to Alpha Status. first to get it right get's the prize. helpful hint; It's not rabies)) meanwhile in Moscow, Russia "We are glad that you decided to accept Mother Russia's offer, Chairman Cho" Vladamir said in a fluent stream of chinese as he met the foreign dignitary as he exited the Chinese designed jet, fighters bearing the five golden stars on their wings still screeching over head as they veered off the escort path and headed for the pre- arranged refueling stations not far from the capital. "The americans have the upper hand in this fight now, but with the fury of winter and the manpower of the yellow stars working side by side..." "Stop your flattery, russian." Cho ordered the man in his own native language, russian, shutting the secretary of state right up. "We already said we intended fully to accept your offer and simply needed to see the promised technology for ourselves; so why do you attempt to court us any further than your lavish proposition already did? The Soldiers following behind the Chairman went on full alert, forming a protective line in between Vladimir and his rather curt guest on the tarmac. Like wise within an instant a dozen Soldiers in the uniform of Russian Special Forces were aiming Sniper Rifles down from the control towers at them, discouraging the visitors from drawing any weapons. "So... I see you came prepared." "We are always prepared in Russia." Vladimir said, not bothering to keep up his self translation from his own language into Cho's native tongue. "History suggests an incredibly different story," Cho chimed, a mocking expression on his face, ordering his men to clear the way and go at ease with a few barks of chinese before beginning to walk again. Vladimir gave the thumbs to the snipers in the towers and on the roof top, all of them slowly removing their faces from behind the sights of their scopes. "Yes well, speaking of which," he said, secretly relieved this whole thing hadn't turned into a blood bath as he retreived a Black and Blue colored sphere from his suit's breast poket, about the size of a ping pong ball. he depressed the trigger on it's face, bringing it to the size of a soft ball and releasing a vaguely humanoid creature with a dark purple body that honestly resembled a ball that had grown legs... the most unsettling thing was the evil grin the beast was shining the chinese man and his escorts. "I believe that history is precisely what our two nations are about to make..."

I have a sneaking feeling that you're going to posing a lot of philosophical questions to us over the course of the plot of the game now... Is this a social experiment, just by any chance? -

I'm just preaching because I don't appreciate dying from someone else's stupidity... Well, looks like we have an elemental party forming here... if only there were someone who could control earth, then it would be complete... -

which is precisely what I was talking about. just because the big bad is what you're ultimately gonna have to kill, doesn't mean it would be a bad idea to consider that some situations might come up where having a bit of variety on the team might actually help out. -

Well, if one can't have balance... I guess common sense in one's actions is the next best policy to follow in it's place -

"Ah, Forgive my misunderstanding then, ser," Maya said, pensively... she'd honestly been hoping what she'd been hearing the past few months about the eclipse covering everywhere being wrong, and given the way the last part of the briefing had been worded... or at least how she'd interpreted it. Admitably though, that bit of hope on her part had been naive; why would the order have sent her out with false information? Especially regarding that of all things... "I guess I'll simply have to continue being a bit creative with my magic then. Eclipse or no, I'll still lend whatever aid I can to you, regardless of the objective we choose, seeing as it won't matter..." -

Yes, but sensai, sometimes it's best to not load all your chicks into one basket... and then set said basket a sail to fight a giant sea serpent who could likely cause a shipwreck in the blink of an eye. And the smartest way to go with any party is to have at least some kind of balance, because it's almost guaranteed that the objective is never going to be as simple and straight forward as it seems, stuff will almost inevitably be thrown at us, stuff which if we try using some gimmick or specializing squads to deal only with the big bosses, will likely wipe us off the map before we even get anywhere close to the objective. Balance is the key... I can sense it. -
[OOC] Gaelach Basm: The starting point

I think that might be a one way road to a party wipe for all of us... let's not even test that theory. -
[IC] Gaelach Basm: The Starting Point

"I'll join your party," Maya said, approaching the Lordling and Karn from behind, having overheard the conversation. "My Fire magic and the healing capabilities it grants me can serve as a powerful advantage in the field, as can my Marksmanship. A word of warning though," She held up her left hand, a small bout of snow white flame sparking to life in her palm, though it burned dimly, flickering to and fro often as if caught in a tempest. "This eclipse that's been plaguing the continent has been having an adverse effect on my abilities; My healing won't be at it's full strength if we decide to be the ones to pursue the Vampress." She closed her hand, extinguishing the fire as she dropped it back to her side. "And for obvious reasons, taking me along to fight the serpent would have mixed results at best. But If we pursue Mihai on Sigeto, where there's no Eclipse and no vast amount of open sea constantly surrounding us, then I can offer you all my full support in combat, with no hindrances at all." -

I've edited the OP a bit. As you will notice, Surge is currently the only major character profile up there; that's because I'm reworking the format to be more like a Personnel dossier since overtime I've come to realize that the short character sheet style I had before simply isn't adequate enough for this story. And yes, PCs will be using these styles as well soon, however I'm going to finish updating the other Major Character Profiles before I ask you all to resubmit an up to date and up to standard PC sheet. anyway, feel free to tell me what you think about Surge's backstory now. EDIT: I've also gone through and put up some new mechanics, specifically regarding moves and what an "Alpha" is. read them, trust me, you're gonna want to especially for the latter one.- 1189 replies

[OOC/Sign-ups] Surge Story
Sutoratosu replied to Sutoratosu's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Ah, I see... Here's what I have for how Pokemon and the pandemic and everything started: So yeah, basically my explanation is that a Weaponized Virus designed to tear apart genetic material was mutated by the energy (Which I guess would make sense for it to be Nuclear fusion or something...) and ultimately became Morpher Virus. The drastic genetic and chemical changes it made in the infected bodies and brains led to new biologic systems and organs being developed by the victims of it's effects. It is these new organs, new bone structures, and drastically altered brain cells and neural pathway struction which ultimately explains why GAOs are capable of doing what they are. for the most part, the virus not only changed the brains capacity, but in fact unlocked far more than was being used prior to infection, granting access to certain areas, and with it, sometimes far greater abilities bordering on what was once thought of as science fiction (Think of a similiar concept to the film "Lucy" basically. Especially for psychic types.)- 1189 replies

just out of curiosity, what's like, the average price scale items bought with BP/ just a scale of it's value in general If we all started with 100 back in september, and the tournament entry fee was 25... not really a whole lot to go on in terms of figuring out how much would constitute "a lot" given just those two facts by themselves. ((I ask because I'm trying to figure out an appropriate amount of earnings from the day's sales and determine if 3000 after the 3 way split would be too high or not))

Pokémon Academy: Ch 3: Winter Cup [IC]
Sutoratosu replied to Chim's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
"Don't mention it," Mareek said, pulling out his Pokedex and navigating to his Trainer Credentials page, right to the Finance section. "Slade's probably going to try going around finding out something he can use against you, just like anyone else in this competition would. As far as I'm concerned, I'm just leveling the playing field a bit. And all I've done is told you what to watch out for against him; whether that information is actually worth anything depends on how smart you fight out there tomorrow." He handed the Dex off to Java, who accepted it with a psybeam and immediately went to work calculating up the day's earnings in BP from fellow students and class mates. Meanwhile he himself retrieved the locked cash box from beneath the counter and started accounting the physical earnings. Nemo went on high alert without even having to be told, Initiating Bone Rush and holding the greenish projection out in-front of him as he stood sentry over the procedure, ready to thoroughly wack anyone who decided to try something. Erce meanwhile blocked off the path to the boy's side of the counter while he and the Porygon tallied everything up, brandishing her scythes in an aggressive manner. "Well, we made about Nine Thousand Pokedollars today," He said, turning to Lana as he organized the cash into orderly stacks before returning it to the lock box. "Good enough, I guess, That's the rough equivalent of 3000 BP for each of us, Assuming any extra cost are covered by what we made in it already." Java maneuvered the pokedex back to the trainer, showing him the screen and the amount. "Which is around 500 or so... not as much as I was thinking it would be, but it doesn't matter." He took the Pokedex back from his Co-Strategist and powered it off as he reached over and shut and re-locked the cash box, taking off his leather gloves and goggles afterwards and putting them down beside it. It seemed that traffic around the place had died down a little compared to earlier in the day. He didn't see anyone else lining up for an Sculpture or a commission, which was fine by him considering the profit (Which was likely greatly helped by the fact that people needed gifts for holidays and what not...) they'd made. And They would have to do something about this Up-Grade and evolving Java soon... "Becoming the IP is no easy feat as there are many others who are also just as qualified as yourself, but that's something to worry about in years to come. There is something else I'd like to ask. You haven't seen my son Henry lately, have you?" Huh? oh, yeah, he had completely forgotten about this guy still standing here... "No sir," he said simply. "I've been standing here tending the stand through most of the day though, so I wouldn't be much help anyway. Maybe someone else around here has seen him?"- 1255 replies

Kenny The two Dessert clad men stepped aside without even a single glance at him as Wind Tracer trotted his way back down the alley (For it was so narrow one could hardly call it anything else...), continuing whatever conversation the two were having as if the Alchemist didn't even exist. Ko'Luki could see why he hadn't noticed whatever shop front the Toad was speaking of before. The place looked no different from the ordinary residences sitting to either side of it; no sign to denote it's purpose, no marking on the door, nothing at all. It was simply a quaint slab of wood marking the doorway on the street corner like any other. "This is it, sir," The toad assured him despite what the Alchemist's eyes were telling him. "It does not appear as any type of shop, but that is for good reason, I assure you. There have been...legal troubles with some items the store keeper holds in his inventory, and he desired a storefront which would only be known to those select few who actually needed his wares, rather than those simply looking to abuse them for their own purposes." Chimchain The shopkeeper leapt up in surprise when he heard the Hunter say that phrase from behind the counter, turning away from counting this nights income and looking at the man skeptically. His wire rimmed spectacles shone brightly in the light of the candles assembled all around the place. The scent of mint and barley hung heavy in the air like a fog, likely from oils imbued into the very candles providing the only source of light in the room. "So... you're one of them then?" He asked, sighing in what seemed to be disappointment as he took out a bundle of burlap sacks from a hanging basket by his head and tossed them onto the countertop. "I expected someone a bit older, perhaps taller, looking to have more experience as a warrior... no matter. What will you be taking this night? Go on... it's all free...everything's plainly labeled as well." Supernovae "God damn it! A whole damn weapons shipment, gone! Ridiculous!" Thundered a muffled voice from the door behind the young shop tender, though the boy simply sighed and shook his head, trying to pretend the outburst hadn't occured. the sound of a few things being tossed and clanking to the floor came shortly afterwards... "I'm sorry sir," He said in a placating tone. "but due to a.... incident recently, we have a shortage of Throwing Armaments in general. The most Javelins we have at the moment are perhaps Five or so...They're all Muinnat tipped, of course, will break through the thickest armor like mere paper."
