[OOC] Gaelach Basm: The starting point
Sutoratosu replied to Kurotsune's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
It is beginning to get a little bit ridiculous at this point... And it's just two people who are holding everyone else up. If they don't get something in soon, I might have to second the motion Murdoc proposed earlier (Skip them and say they just sat down somewhere) -
I'm abit curious... what would you say is my greatest strength as a writer?

[OOC/Sign-ups] Surge Story
Sutoratosu replied to Sutoratosu's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Alright, so my interest in this has returned and I have resumed work in the background for developing the word and the story and what not, and we'll be getting an update soon with several cut aways in it; both on the base... and out in other places in the world, Talks about mechanics and such will resume momentarily... I have one question though, directed to Supernovae: Please tell me, what the hell is "Matter Energy Transference" exactly? I mean, aside from the obvious which the name suggests... what's an actual example of it? Apparently it has something to do with pokemon, but... I'm not entirely sure :/ Also... Let's continue talking about whether or not to have 'Evolution' be an actual default way that certain pokemon grow to adulthood/ Live Births versus Egg hatching for certain mamilian species, just to make sure no one has any objections to either... Also, there are going to be some changes around here regarding how I have the OP set up and organized, along with character profiles... but more on that will discussed later.- 1189 replies

Pokémon Academy: Ch 3: Winter Cup [IC]
Sutoratosu replied to Chim's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
"Don't let yourself get cocky like that." Mareek warned simply, Java nodding in agreement with his words as he stared at the other student. "It's the quickest path there is to completely being destroyed on the field of battle, trust me. Confidence is fine, but overconfidence will screw you over in the end, Overconfidence leads to complacency and stupid decisions. Don't let yourself underestimate your opponent before you even stand on the opposite side of the field from them, because you may just be in for a nasty surprise when the moves and attacks start flying... and Slade Kafkin is definitely someone who's an excellent example of that." As he spoke he couldn't help but honestly be surprised that he was giving out information like this; hell, here he was, handing this girl basically a complete dossier of Battle Data and Strategic Intel concerning his own Roommate, and he didn't even know the chick... "Well, it's not like I'm really tipping the scales or anything..." He thought to himself, trying to justify it all. "After all, Slade could be doing the exact same thing about her, going around gathering what information he could about the other side... she just got lucky and happened upon someone who knows him and actually pays a lot of attention to details most people would brush off as useless. And besides, all I'm telling her is to look out for how he fights, whether or not the information is any use is dependent on whether or not she's smart enough to remember it all and put it into good use come tomorrow."- 1255 replies

Pokémon Academy: Ch 3: Winter Cup [IC]
Sutoratosu replied to Chim's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
"Well, know thy enemy, I guess..." Mareek said, though even as he said it he recalled who was probably the biggest threat on his roomate's team. "And actually, there's another thing you need to know: look out for Slade's Growlithe, Flare. It's small, but don't underestimate it; Him and Slade make a dangerous team out on the battle field, even more than the Magnemite. Be sure to keep your guard up against it, use caution and be smart about your shots, or else the two of them will run circles around you and put you into a corner before you even know it. I've seen it happen before, hell, even happened to me the first time I battled him. His fighting style might be a bit unorthodox compared to others, but it's by no means anything to brush off..."- 1255 replies

Still don't understand why you people get so worried when someone happens to have the same species on their team, there's no species rule, and you know how easy it is to simply give either of them distinguishing qualities that would still make them unique even if someone has the same thing? speaking of which, I've updated the titles each team member is going to have in my team reference on Page 2... feel free to take a look if you want.

"You can see me and my other selves," the Pale Rider said as he trotted within earshot of the men, looking down at them all with those eyes of contrasting silver and gold, his face an unreadable mask as a portal bathed in light opened before him and thrust his crook forward, beckoning the souls following him within. "Because of the massive amount of life that has been stolen in this place tonight... that coupled with the fact that you are all in the presence of a man who has mastered Spectral Magic and the way of the Ghost Blade." He lifted a withered, brittle looking finger and pointed it directly at Deric as the souls swimming around the magistrate deviated from their revolution and began filing into the portal along with the souls Death was guiding. "It is his ability to see the dead and the departed," Lord Death continued. "That man tis an old soul, his days reaching far back in history... reaching all the way to a time when heroes fought and died to defend the world from crises..." he moved his pointer to Leon as well. "As is he... but that one's spirit burns hotter than any others. He has the light of experience, the light of life everlasting within him. He has died and returned from the valley of death time and time again... unlike the Spectral lord who has yet to fully return from the abyss." Before long the souls had all made their way into the After Realm through the ethereal opening he had made. With the symbol on the ridge of his nose blazing brightly and nothing more than a few quick motions of his hand, reminiscent of a person sewing up a tear in a fabric, the thing collapsed in onto itself without a single noise, leaving the air rippling for a little while before even that tiny trace vanished as well. The glow of his sigil died down once more as he turned his attention back to the party. "You had best make haste with his revival. For he shall be a powerful ally in this war, one who can see the dead and myself. Something is coming, something great and at the same time terrible. I can feel her cry, her pull even now... She is Zero. She is pure nothingness, the beginning and the end. That is what thou art fighting in this war, Lady Zero. The cries of suffering and pain in the hearts of mankind are what have drawn her attention over all these millenia, as they did before, when I went around guiding the dead of yet another world like this one...." he looked right at Leonidas, as if glaring at his very soul. "You know the state of God at the moment, Leonidas... you know that he can fight no longer, that he can hold her back no longer. The cries of suffering grew too powerful, nad down was the lord cast from his lofty throne amongst the stars, down to the earth, to have what was left of him sealed within a tomb of knowledge... a tomb which has been received in the east..." "So the book has been delivered then?" the Hero asked, obviously having some inkling as to what the specter was saying. "Indeed, it has," Death concurred. "And with the Lord cast down from his former power, the only hope is that those in the east can keep the Keys safe from her grasp, keep them safe from the void... but there is one matter you must be made aware of, old friends," he looked at Deric as well as he continued. "Rossephus, his life lays waning, I knowith not if he shall pull through... for an agent of Zero has stricken him down with magic. The prognosis looks bleak. and another matter...The rebel, Zartana... she has stolen the blessing of Key Bearer from Samiel's son." "WHAT!?" Leonidas shouted in a fury that made his spear blaze with a crimson hue as he slammed the but of it into the ground, eye's flaring with wrath at the news, which not one of the men standing there could likely understand the true significance of... "That winged Triatorous whore! she stole it!?" "Yes, Leonidas," Death said in a calm tone. "and she nearly had the boy killed afterwards, though she was stopped before she could finish her plot. Calm yourself though, I do not think she did it for the sake of betraying our cause for that of Lady Zero..." "Then why?" the man snarled in his gravelly voice, so ferocious it could've sent a full grown wyvern scurrying for the hill. "Why the fuck would she have any reason to do it if not that? What makes you think her aim is not treachery?" "Now, I did not say it wasn't treachery at all..." Death corrected. "I said she doesn't intend to side with Zero... but rest assured, there are dark things on her mind. I fear that she intends to do what she has been preaching of for so long among her Seraph brethren... but for now, she will likely co-operate once it becomes obvious we know of her actions this night. For she gains nothing if Zero wins, for she shall cease to be right along with the rest of us... rest assured, Leonidas, if the need arises, she will stand beside us when it matters in this war... but afterwards...." "Afterwards...yes, indeed, afterwards..." the hero said, chuckling in a rather dark manner. "afterwards, I would tear her apart myself, were that I would still be existing after this war is over..." He turned his attention to the group, his eyes stormy with what looked like a mix of wrath and amusement... which when on the face of the Sky Slayer, the most dreaded man the world had ever known, was a rather frightening sight indeed... "We need to have a discussion after the Dragons and Lupai are all dead... don't bother trying to ask any questions right now though, because I'll give you no answers; now is a time when it's more important to focus on the fight immediately ahead of us, rather than that which is waiting long down the road... Do I make myself clear?"

Pokémon Academy: Ch 3: Winter Cup [IC]
Sutoratosu replied to Chim's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
The boy looked up at the screen again, this time examining the block that Sissy was in... "Yeah, I've battled and beaten both Gared and Karen before," he said, nodding. "They're both OK, they've got some skills, but I honestly don't expect them to get very far in this tournament, not if they get paired up against someone who can see through their tactics, which honestly isn't to hard if you just know what to look for and can stop them before they finish... I'm sure you'll do fine against either of them, all it takes is a bit of thought." He began shaking his head when he saw his own roommates name in the same bracket block though... "Chances are you and Slade are gonna wipe the floor with them in your matches and end up against one another though... that's what you should really be worried about, my roomate is a wild card when it comes to battle, and he's also a bit reckless at times... and it's these two traits put together that make him someone to watch out for. Not once have I ever seen him phased by being cornered on the battlefield; whenever someone thinks they have him pinned down and helpless, he comes up with some craziness to always try to get out of it." He took his eyes back off the screen and looked at Sissy. "But like i said, he can also be reckless, and while he isn't phased and doesn't seize up at being cornered, he can potentially push things beyond what his team can do without realizing it, like i hear he did with the Frogadier of his during his battle at the end of the Boulder Hills trip, you might or might not have seen that yourself. Anyway, that's likely your best bet to take him down in a fight; if you can manage to outsmart him without him even realizing it, if you keep cornering him, he'll be distracted with getting his team out of it, and you can use that simple distraction to whittle his team down. And one lst thing; watch out for the Magnemite, TX-101... I freaking hate that thing from the first battle I ever had against it. There's something just not right about it, the way it fights... it'll throw you and your team through loops you didn't even think of as being possible, so watch out." Finally finished with his explanation, he looked to Java to see if the Porygon had any observations to ask. when the normal type shook his head and nothing came up on his pokedex screen or over his head phones, Mareek looked back to the other student. "That's all the info I have to give you. Hope it's what you're looking for."- 1255 replies

Mareek "Oh, no need to apologize sir," Mareek said to the man, shaking his head, "You're fully entitled to that anti-sentiment for them, just like me and a bunch of other people in kanto who lived through Terrorist plots and not even once saw the Global Police anywhere near the situation to deal with it, hell, if the IP did it's damn job, maybe my father would still be alive and things would be a bit different with my older brother. They're always absentee it seems... and that's what I fully intend to change by working my way up and seizing complete control of it one day. I'm going to do for it what Professor Redwood has done for trainers across the world with the LT system he developed; I'm going to clean up the damn IP's act once and for all and make them an actually competent anti-terrorism force that'll be feared by Sociopaths like Giovanni and Cyrus and Ghetsis and all the rest of them who have been running around and only being stopped by children-" "Excuse me, I hope I'm not interrupting anything. Can I ask you something Mareek?" He looked away from the man to find none other the girl who he'd spoken to during Claude's fight with the snorlax a few weeks ago on the trip... though as to why she would be seeking him out now, he honestly didn't know; it's not like he was exactly the type of person who people came to when they needed something, hell, he was actually more used to being the guy who got glossed over by some of the more... approachable faces in the class when it came to getting asked questions. "Um, sure... I guess," He said. "What is it?" Galen "Oh, looks like someone's getting a bit angry..." Galen scoffed mentally to himself as he took his eyes off the young man and looked up at the clock tower as it struck the time. "And how dare that little bastard, I checked if I had missed any weeds three times! I know these grounds are clear..." "Alright, tusche, chico," Augustine said, face unreadable as he knew there was no point in maintaining the conversation with this little punk; He had done what he'd been told to, make initial contact with the kid when possible, and he'd done it... no point in wasting any more time "We'll just have to go see about these stray weeds then, now won't we?" He turned around glancing over his shoulder at the boy as he brought up his right hand, catching his Zoroark's attention. "have a nice evening, Evan Reeves..." he snapped his fingers exactly as he trailed off, giving the cue which his partner recognized oh so well from past work; make us invisible. With not even the slightest visible ripple of the air the Gardener seemingly vanished like he'd never been there at all, while all the while actually stalking away from the student, cursing under his breath that the one kid in this whole academy who'd been chosen to serve as the contact and emergency alaibi/scapegoat for this was so reluctant and annoying... well perhaps he shouldn't go pegging him with annoying just yet. After All, he had still yet to meet his team, especially that Pierre kid; he was confident he'd be able to reign him in, he'd done it before plenty of times with big shots and ambitious new recruits for Rocket, but... “Ymora Academy, I, Pierre Deborsu, have arrived!” Well, speak of the devil, and he doth appear... "Well they certainly weren't kidding when they said he craves attention..." the criminal sighed under his breath, glancing at his Zoroark as the two of them followed behind the boy as he entered through the gates and headed for a Face Painting Booth, completely unseeable, and making sure to stand off to the side of the walkway as they stop a few meters away from the stand. "Might as well observe him a little, see what I'm up against in this rodeo..."- 1255 replies

A piercing, draconic screech tore through the dry desert air immediately after Sinbad finished, so loud that if there were any glass still left in the burned out window sills of the empty shells all around them they'd shatter into countless shards. In the distance not far from where they were they could see the bright haze of hundreds of tiny lights like the ones surrounding them beginning to swirl around some strange figure like a maelstrom, the black shawl cladding their shoulders fluttering to and fro around them like a flag caught in a violent tempest. The thing, presumably a man, sat perched atop a pale horse, the beast so rail thin that one would think it hadn't eaten for weeks, yet still somehow strong enough to support a rider. A black mist emanated from the animal's nostrils with every puff of breath, it's eyes an eerie black like the empty abyss of death... but that was far from the strangest trait that caught the group's eyes; for this mare... had four extra legs supporting it. The rider himself had a face whiter than even Anansi's shell had been, from what the group could remember, Marked by it's sheer narrowness and the man's sharp nose, straight like a razor and bearing a strange marking across it's ridge. His eye's were mismatched, one golden and burning bright like the sun, while the other was a cold and lifeless silver like the moon itself. He hadn't even the slightest hint of any hair from what they could see, the top of his head barren and desolate like the valley of death. His body was nearly as thin as his horse's, his bare chest showing as his shawl billowed all around his frail looking frame. A pair of baggy black linen trousers clad his legs, a pair of cuffed boots the color of ash sitting soundly the stirrups of his mount. "I have a very bad feeling about this," Boho said, suddenly disappearing from the roof and materializing behind Sinbad an instant later, a small dust kicked up from the barren ground by the motion of his light walking. "Maybe we should try to back up and hide, real slow like..." "There's no need to," Leonidas said solemnly, turning to face the men, spear still resting on his shoulders like a fallen timber. "The being you see before you... is the Lord of the Dead himself; the shepherd who guides souls to the presence of Anansi for Judgement... and he is just one of many, all exactly like him." As if to give testimony to support the man's words more and more figures, all bearing the exact same appearance and riding the same Death Mare, became visible in the city's ruins, riding around the boulevards and avenues with crooks in their hands, lost souls following them like lambs fleeing from wolves as they went, many of the specters riding right past the group on their round up of those innocents who had been slain this night, each trailing countless spheres of light. The one closest to them took out his own crook, holding it high into the air like a rallying point for the souls swirling in a storm around him and his mount, his horse looking up to the sky a giving another blood curdling screech like the one they had heard before. "And thus is the age old stereotype of lord Death," Leon went on, sighing with what seemed to be... was that sympathy? "He looks frightening, sounds frightening, made out to be a harbinger of chaos and destruction and darkness, but in truth..." he gestured to the Crook Master behind him. "He is infact a harbinger of Order and Light who comes after Chaos and Destruction reign, to guide those who need it most to the final realm...and Death is never cheated... he sometimes simply refuses to take people before their rightful times." As Leon spoke though... the Death Apparition was riding over the party in a slow trot, still holding up his stave for the lost and the departed to follow behind...

Kenny "It's just down this street here, right on the corner," The Magic Toad said simply, reaching his webbed, amphibious hand out of the bag and pointing down the narrow passage right towards where the Dirosi men were conversing at the cross way of the road and the main boulevard. "If you like, I could even carry all of your supplies for you..." Supernovae The shop keeper looked up from the empty wooden chest before him as he heard the chime of the door's bell announce a patron having just wondered into the show room, glancing to his son as he stood a felt his anger continue to rise at his latest discovery... "Elemac, go tend to the customer," he snarled below his breath, waving the child away as he went back to examining the container. "That damn Muinnat ore was in this damn chest, I simply know it... "Yes father," was all Elemac said, backing out of the room. He knew better than to make the man repeat himself whenever he was angered like this... As Maximus looked around the displays of the shop a door behind the counter creaked open, the sound of the ancient hinges grinding atop each other echoing throughout the place as a boy looking no older than four-teen or so emerged from a back room and manned the counter as if he had done it a thousand times. His eyes fell on the Ekarder, his face unreadable. "Welcome sir," he said in a tone that sounded like he had rehearsed this very line a thousand times in his life... and was honestly bored to tears of it. "How might I help you on this fine night?"

Mareek "Well, with everything I've taught him from my own experiences, I would say that Mareek here could probably change that little statistic one day," Ms. Sisto said, recalling Joltara and handing the capsule back to Mars. "though he's no longer interested in it, I'm afraid... but your generation is young, I'm sure it's going to be one of you who eventually makes it through. Who knows, maybe it'll be one of your own peers from this class even? Someone who you sit beside every day could be the future champion in the making..." "Whoever it is, they won't have any competition for the spot from me," Mareek said, leaning on the counter top like he had before. "I'm not gonna spend my time or my energy going after badges; we're going to spend it actually trying making things a bit better in the world... and We'll grow stronger so that we can accomplish that, isn't that right everyone?" Erce, Nemo, and Java all nodded eagerly at the question, Erce paring her claws against one another while Nemo held up his club in the air triumphantly and Java just sat there being Java like usual, though a tiny bit of pride was showing in his eyes now. "Exactly," Mareek nodded, knowing his team was on the same page about what they were going to aim for in the future. "And if we get strong enough and I manage to prove myself with my work and skills: I'll be the head of the International Police in no time..." Galen "We'll hold up our end of the deal, rest assured," Augustine said, really beginning to grow tired of how long this freaking conversation was taking... the kid was lucky that there was a need for an emergency alibi provider, otherwise Galen could've handled the job of correspondence with his team by delegating messages to Zoroark... in fact, if he thought of it... no, would have to be an actual human giving the cover story; no telling how things might go if she tried handling it... and then the authorities would probably want follow up interviews and all that stuff and it honestly was just simpler like this... "But also know this; you won't get a scrap of information about your Padre if you don't actually help us. understand, Chico? You don't give anything, and neither will we. So are you going to stop this continuous side-stepping already?"- 1255 replies

again, I only use them for assessing the odds and determining whether the fight will be up hill, like with Nemo, or downhill in terms of basic advantage. And the only reason Nemo didn't go down was because Interceptions and the sort are allowed and he used Detect also to avoid most of the pulses until the end when he finally got hit. from looking at the Base Stat totals and the huge gap in between his and Lapras's, I knew that realistically it would be a hard match for Nemo to actually win without the help of something like Java and their combo move, compounded was the fact of a type disadvantage, and I knew the thing wasn't going to hold up at all if he got hit. But I also got creative despite those odds against him; used ranged moves for interception of the Pulses, had him close his eyes against a light based attack, and finally use detect to avoid both onslaughts he was facing altogether before I finally decided to stop stalling what was inevitable and have Nemo go down in a blaze of glory. Now, of course there's obviously a lot more that goes into a fight and choreographing it, such as the character development that can come from a win/lose and the tactics and creative (But not BS) strategies one could rely on and etc. list could go on... I'm just saying that the way I write my side of the fight, if it's equal terms in terms of leveling, then I'm going to be looking at the Base Stat total right along side Type match up as well to assess the basic odds of victory over the current opponent, just to get a feel for whether the fight will be an uphill one or not, as I said before. whether those basic odds hold true or are beaten though, depend on a multitude of things such as type effectiveness, strategy, Creativity, weather, and a bunch of other variables to be accounted for...

"Enya, calm down," Ethic ordered. "Now tell me, what are you running from; what are you talking about? who is this he that you're so afraid of?" His gaze was caught by the sight of some hooded figure rushing towards the boy scout with a Scitmar... which seemed completely random... "God damn it, did Rick have to deal with this shit?" He silently cursed under his breath, looking back down at Enya. Look, whatever's going on there, there's a bunch of them and only one of the assailant, they should be able to handle him easily... And I have feeling I'm not going to get a straight coherent answer from her unless I go and actually see what the hell happened for myself. "Alright Enya," he began. "Let's go find Rose then... You'll have to explain the gist of what happened on the way though."- 303 replies

Alright, thanks. And @ Commander, oh yes they can, good sir... They just may not seem like it in some cases. The way i choreograph my side of any RP battle here though, I always make sure to take into account the base stat total of my own fighter and the opponent in order to be a bit realistic about the odds, unless there's a huge level gap in which case there would be no point. Like with Nemo versus Lapras. and the Battle calculator which was suggested and some people use to figure out how much damage is inflicted by an attack so that BS doesn't happen in battles and we don't have a bunch of wail fests from people making up injury levels runs off of Base Stat totals too, so....

Hey, chimchain, about the whole Cubone and the Club thing... We said it would be psychological and all and that Nemo was honestly capable of the increased attack and everything simply from his own natural potential rather than the club having an effect on his attack stat... but I'm just curious and want to make sure I understand how it's gonna work, before he gets used in any actual battles against a another PC: Does the psychological thing mean that Cubone and Marowak's natural base attack stat is in fact actually double what it is listed as since Thick Club doesn't increase it's attack? (EX: Marowak's base attack goes from just 80 up to 160 and Cubone's goes up from 50 to 100) EDIT: by the way, I checked, and if that is how it's going to work, that would raise Cubone and Marowak base stat total to 370 and 505, respectively, so I don't think going about it using that explanation would result in it becoming too overpowered...

Kenshin "You shall refer to her as Ms.Gratas, and nothing else, you pitiful novice!" Romulus called out before his maker could even respond to the question, earning the machine quite a dirty look from Ester, a gaze so withering it could probably send a full grown Monochrome scurrying off into the woodwork as her stormy eyes sat fixed on him. "Erm... what I meant to say was; you may refer to her as Ester, but anything indignant and I will be forced to retaliate for your lack of respect..." "Like he said," She sighed, returning her attention to Kenshin. "Ester is fine. You'll have to excuse him though; Like I already said, I can't tell if it's just programming or if it's really genuine at this point... not that an arrogant and lofty sounding prick is what I programed him to be like in the first place though..." "A prick, why I'd never..." "You do come off as one at times, dear romulus, old friend..." Remus spoke up, concurring with Ester... Romulus just turned from where he hovered in the air, turning his diamond shaped body to his colleague and brother, his red optical lense unable to convey any emotion. Regardless, Remus turned to face him, obviously picking up on something...as if Romulus had a facial expression that conveyed a sense of disappointment... "What? You have to admit, you do at times... even though you mean well." Dobby and Notus "I used to be a chef, you know..." The man said as he continued making his rounds from table to table, setting places with the mediocre MREs. "A damn good one too, had my own restaurant and everything too... then the outbreak comes along and the damn feds approach me and you know what those bastards tell me?" He stopped his rounds and dropped the remaining few MRE bags on the table before him along with a pitcher of steaming water, gazing right towards Whit and Big. "Those Mother Fuckers said to me 'We need someone to cook the meals during the mission, and we hear you have the credentials.' Well, business was slow, and I didn't have anything else to do..." he picked up one of the bags, waving it in the air indignantly. "But does this look like fucking COOKiNG to you!? The ass holes drag me all the way out here, and then when i arrive, what do I discover? these 'meals' I'm supposed to be making for the Dispatch Company come in a God Damn bag!" He tossed the thing onto the floor, face contorting in complete disgust as he began going back to his rounds and finishing the place settings. well as someone who spends a lot of time sitting around and thinking and building ideas up to lofty places... I have a somewhat hard time appreciating simplicity XD... And hold on... Not exactly. it was a good guess though. just the amount of hecticness and running around and being busy lately has left me kinda drained in terms of energy and I just at this and surge story and go "Meh..." where usually I'd be thinking up how we're going to move forward or how 'm gonna plan interactions or more twists and turns in the story, etc... Basically I guess I just need to recover some lost charge. to tell the truth though, I do freaking love the concept of grey morality and I'd probably never tire of it; because it's the only type of morality that actually exists in the real world, regardless of what any person or religion might say to the contrary. There is no absolute evil, and there is no absolute good either. everything is mixed, the "Bad" guys all have their own virtues, and the "Good" guys all have their vices, just look at history and even the modern world... so yeah, kinda hard of me to get bored when it's literally everywhere around me and causes a shit ton of interesting and sometimes dilemma inducing situations... There is no good or evil in the world basically. just perspective and circumstance.
