Chapter 1 was more of a basic set up, but things get deeper now...

  2. "Right..." Mareek agreed, a bit more cheerful as he let go of Java and watching the computer generated entity hover back up to his normal cruising height. "Yeah... that's exactly what they're for." He looked over to Erce, catching her giving a very grateful look to the girl and java both, nodding her head at them earnestly. "Isn't that right, Erce?" he asked, eyes still focused on Java as he got back up to par from his injuries. The scyther turned to him with an expression on her face that perfectly said 'who, little ol me?' "Yes you, Don't think I don't see you," He continued, this time glancing at the scyther and smirking a little. "This is like the Hide and Seek games again, isn't it? You were up to something..." Erce simply turned her head and looked away idly, parring her scythes against each other a little, a gesture Mareek knew from past experience meant she wasn't going to reveal anything. But the gleam in her eyes said it all. "Not gonna say, huh? well thanks either way," he said to the scyther before turning back to Lana. "Anyways... looks like a lot of battles have finished so far. Maybe you'll be going up next soon; though hopefully you'll have more luck than Java and I did in our last fight...did you manage to find a new team member over the last few days?" The porygon meanwhile just rolled his eyes at the mere mention of that fluke from earlier, if that little Flaming lizard hadn't known Dragon Rage.... seems like the earlier moment of sentimentality had passed. It was back to the same Java as before: prideful and detached as ever and a bit of sore loser... but at least now it was known that he was capable of caring when it counted.
  3. For Exodus: Beyond Eden, if you are among the players still in the Command Center who have yet to respond in this entire interaction, know that you have until monday, 12/22, to get some type of response in before I toss smething at you in order to get some involvement.

  4. Vixen and Garren... "Don't make any sudden movements," The thing behind them said in Vixen's voice, growing closer and letting out a low growl as it entered into sight. In the what little light was in the area from other places in the camp they could see the beast clearly, Dark brown fur, Bipedal with lengthy, slender arms that rested it's beefy fists upon the ground as it crept forward in a crouch like gait. It's face was wrinkled on the bridge of it's broad, flared nose, it's entire face black as night and fangs that looked sharp enough to tear prey apart like butter protruding from the thing's bottom lip. It's eyes glared at the two, empty pools of black sitting in seas of white. "You try, and you'll find this blade so far up your hamster hole that I'll be able to give you a frontal lobotomy with it." The Chimpanzee said in Bane's voice, nodding at the knife he saw glinting in the Sniper's hand, as if challenging the woman to try attacking with it. "Jace? Jace," It continued, this time in an unfamiliar woman's voice. "you have to stay focused right now... I know the feeling you probably have right now, but-" "She dies, and I kill them all," Something in the treetops picked up from where the one before Garren and Vixen left off, this one in Bane's voice. "Every single god damn one of those fuc-" Their was a scream that sounded like it had come from a monkey, cutting off the one in the trees before it could finish it's mimicking. A sharp snap and aggressive roar that sounded primal and guttural like it had come from a sasquatch rang out. More rustling came from the trees like earlier, albeit this time far more violent as the mangled body of a creature looking just like the one before the two came tumbling down to the earth like a thrown stone, skidding across the dirt before coming to a full stop at the Scout's boots, it's head turned sharply to left, face frozen in a permanent look of shock and fear that had likely been there just prior to it's neck having been snapped like a twig. The Chimp sizing up Garren and Vixen redirected it's gaze upon finding it's mate dead on the barren earth now, catching only a glimpse before whatever had struck now crashed down onto him from above a flurry of broken branches and fluttering leafs. A black shape stood and leaned down, wrapping it;s hands on opposite sides of the head and twisting sharply, letting out another snap as the Chimp's neck first resisted then gave way, turning to left so completely that it was nearly a 180 degree break. The beast dropped the mimic's corps to the ground, glaring at the Soldiers. It's nostrils flared arrogantly as it seemed to size them up, and as it took it's time they could notice it looked near exactly like the thing they had just witnessed it brutally dispatch, albeit larger, more heavily muscled along the arms and legs and torso, and eyes that gleamed a bright brown in the darkness. The only other key difference was the fact... that this one had a thick, electronic collar around it's throat the color of Scarlet. "Perimeter secured..." It said in a voice sounding exactly like Commander Stone's. The hoots and hollers of chimps could be heard as the remaining pack members fled unseen, having watched their Alpha get killed as if he were nothing but mere fodder compared to this behemoth of a Talker. Zero... The First thng Zero noticed when he stepped inside was a large Primeape with a pitch black coat pushing a cart filled with medical supplies, walking right past the man as it made it's way to the other part of the Medical Area, a scarlet electronic collar around it's neck was visible from the glimpse Zero had managed before it disappeared into a private area and another set of flaps. The inside of the Tent was just as white and sterile looking as the Decontamination Area, various pieces of Medical equipment and computer terminals set up in stations ringing the walls, a large aisle running down the middle of the place. Cots were set up all along the perimeter of the wall, each one accompanied by it's own Med station. It seemed that there were no staff here though... except for the muscular black primeape that just reentered from the private area, no longer pushing it's cart. The thing noticed Zero this time, stopping to stare at him with what seemed to be curiosity, the light of the machinery glinting off his fangs and light brown irises as he gazed at the Shock trooper expectantly. As to what he was supposed to do, well, it seemed the Primeape felt that Zero should already know.
  5. Not even Vixen could've, the security is too steep because of the facilities they have there.... it's like Area 51 in terms of security seriousness, shoot first and ask later, that's how severely all threats will be handled in the area. Hence why ESFAs are the only ones authorized to be dispatched to handle issues in the area but Rangers are prohibited. and Who said you needed guns? The perimeters are guarded at all times, but I never said by what.... And remember the River Valley... this is not the last time it will come up. EDIT: by the way, the only reason I didn't force the Tent group into something in that last post is because barely any time passed between me writting that warning and writing this latest update. Command Tent people have two days to get some response in or I start messing with you.
  6. Nope. Not unless he's ever been out in the Colt River Valley east of esperanza, which I doubt he has since it has rather difficult and in certain areas unstable terrain to navigate and even besides that is technically government controlled land with a steep trespassing penalty.
  7. Big & Whit The spray mist enveloping Big's exosuit began to recede as the decontamination ran it's course, leaving the soldiers visor heavy with a dark red liquid so opaque that he could barely see his own two hands through it, let alone that his entire suit was coated in the stuff. A moment after the spray mist was halted another one began, this one a clear, cloudy solution that mixed with the bloody substance on his helmet's view port like mud before evaporating cleanly, not leaving even a single trace of either chemical. "Decontamination complete," The AI confirmed in her strangely melodious voice that had doubtlessly misled more than a few male soldiers before. "You may enter the premises." at the opposite end of the sterile zone a rippling began in the air as a crimson hexagonal pattern began to hover against the back wall, making the very clear boundary of a force field similar to an Exo-suits. As Whit and Big watched the pattern began to split in half into the shape of a door way, flaps visible through the rectangular breach. obviously this was the way into the Mess. Zero "Decontamination complete," Zero heard the AI chime as the sprays stopped and at the back wall of the sterile area a bright crimson hexagonal pattern rippled for a few seconds in the air, revealing a rectangular breach in it. Two tent flaps lay closed beyond the break; obviously this was the entrance into the Medical Center. Kenshin "You could be doing that far better, you know?" Kenshin heard a female's voice from over his shoulder as he worked on his drone. A blonde haired Girl no older than he was stood eavesdropping on his work, eyes lit up with the reflection of the welding sparks, seemingly oblivious of basic safety requirements like smocks and Welding mask, wearing no other gear than her Exo Suit, slate grey, signifying a Government Agent, and even then she didn't have the helmet on. The warm orange glow of the sparks illuminated her face, framed in the deep golden locks of her loose worn hair and revealing a band of freckles running across the bridge of her straight nose. Her lips were pursed as she went on. "And your upgrades are honestly shotty at best, and on top of that it looks like you went with a near full offensive overclock for this when this model's size and capacity is far more suited for a supportive one in the field." Her bright green eyes flashed a little in the light as she looked at the young hacker, a look somewhat in between pity and conceit there, as if she wondered if the fool even knew what he was doing. "You have worked with drones before, haven't you? or are you one of those wannabes who starts out with hacking and then moves up to Operating these and modding them, thinking it's going to be a piece of cake just because you know computers?" Vixen & Garren "I am only ever Vixen to you," The Sniper and Scout heard a perfectly mimicked version of Vixen's voice ring out from a nearby tree top, though the darkness obscured whatever could be making it. "And you best remember that." "You're not killing any of my men, Quiet." Another voice, this one sounding perfectly like Bane's, rang down from another tree top, a click and hissing sound came soon afterwards as whatever was doing this also mimicked the noise of a Tactical Sword locking mechanism being disengaged, the tone of what came next had a resolute edge to it, as if the owner wouldn't hesitate to resort to absolute force. "You try, and you'll find this blade so far up your hamster hole that I'll be able to give you a frontal lobotomy with it. I won't show any mercy if you threaten them. they're just Grunts in all of this, they're lives are worth more than being taken because they happened to be on the wrong side of things." The sound of something leaping from branch to branch came about in the noise of rustling leaves and creaking tree branches. But there was still no sign of whatever the hell was up there. "W-well, my name's Garen. Garen Forrest," was the next thing the two heard from where they sat, a perfectly mimicked version of Garren's own voice talking this time. And this one sounded closer than the others, almost as if it was right behind them, breathing down their necks and sizing up their position...
  8. Alright... so to simplify what happened for you then, Ark: basically some type of illusion was conjured up (I presume it occured while Hades and the man were staring each other down or whatever) and as a result the man you were after swapped his outward appearance with that of Hades, while imposing his own outward appearance onto Hades. As a result, you ended up hitting Hades with those Shots when you fired, thinking it to be the target you two were after, shortly after this the enemy dropped the illusion, revealing that it was infact Hades you had hit, and then finished off hades by blowing off his head using his ability... and now the target is gone, vanished. It's just Keaton and Hades' dead body in the room now, with what's left of Hades's head splattered all over the floor.
  9. Yes. some type of shape shifting also happened and I think you ended up actually hitting Hades with those laser shots since the enemy pulled the ol switcheroo and made Hade's take on his appearance while he took on Hades (don't know how, maybe it was a sub ability of his coupled with explosions...) or at least that's what I interpret the scene as. Flux could give you a far more clear answer though... seeing as he's the one who wrote it and all.
  10. I'm updating for those who are doing something. But what's going on with everyone still in the command tent? If I don't see anything from anyone there the next time I go through to update I'm going to force you guys to have to do something instead of just sitting around idely.
  11. "Sounds like a long shot, but alright," Ethic said, seeing no real reason to argue against it. "Let's go see the greedy bastard then... you have any idea where he might be though? we could try checking the briefing room from earlier, but I doubt he'll still be hanging around in there if he's as busy as he claims himself to be. Or should we just go for a straightforward route and radio in for a conference?"
  12. "This is going to just be a visit, right?" Ethic asked taylor cautiously, taking out his radio and making sure that the thing wasn't on right now; wouldn't be very good if the Denizen overheard any of this. "So long as we aren't going to try anything; we don't know who's actually running this place or where the exit is, and quite frankly I think our priority should be playing nice until we figure out the latter, not trying to off some asshole who probably deserves it anyway. Aside from that though, what do you have in mind? We're likely going to have to have some justification just to even get a meeting with him..."
  13. Well smuag is likely far more powerful in terms of raw brutality and strength, but he doesn't strike me as one who would be leading the operations of a circle... and we honestly have seen nothing of what Gestas can do so far aside from his trapdoors and drop down machine gun tricks, but he could have some powerful magicks at his beck and call or something... but if there's someone somewhere in there even more powerful than smaug and theoretically Gestas both ...GG, rip for all of us. We'll overcome all challenges with the power of teamwork (Yeah, right... like that's gonna happen around here anymore...)
  14. "He's going to find you eventually, kid!" Ethic called out after the boy as the fool continued to try to leave his offer behind. "IT's a matter of WHEN, not IF! And when he finds you, if you're not with anyone to have your back and you're not capable of holding your own against him, which I don't think you are from how scared you are right now, no offense, then he's gonna tear your ass a new one and leave little bits and pieces of hoodied teenager kabobs scattered all over the floor. If the man who sent you is truly who I think he is, then you will never escape him, my friend. He will FIND you. He will KILL you. He has no soul and no morals, I'm 98% certain of it." Seeing that the kid still wasn't stopping even now, Ethic gave up with a shrug of his arms, sticking his hands into his fatigue pockets and turning back to young Taylor with a pivot step, all the while glancing at the figure as it grew smaller down the hall. "Alright, take the idiot's route and don't come with us then. Perhaps this is just natural selection running it's brutal course. Don't say no one warned you though, because someone did, and you didn't listen."
  15. Title says it all. I won't stop until it is within my grasp. There will be no surrender from me.
  16. New Avi and finally some new About Me content on my profile. Feels good

  17. Yeah... I'm probably gonna be waiting a good while. Well, best get working on the short stories then...

  18. This is a public service announcements: Please, do not try to work out or decode Gamerfreak Logic in Pokemon. You will lose brain cells from it.

    1. Sutoratosu

      Sutoratosu

Thank you, and have a nice day.

    2. Zephyrus the Priestess

      Zephyrus the Priestess

      Dun-dun-dun-dun (intercom sounds)

  19. Again... Gamefreak logic. Don't try to reason it out, it'll just kill brain cells. That's why I decided to cut out and toss a lot of the the preexisting Pokemon Mechanics in Surge Story... it's honestly just not worth the decreased IQ by the time you'd be done with it...
  20. Erce nodded gratefully at the girl, knowing she had been right about her hunch that she'd prove a valuable bit of help with this. Mareek meanwhile was beginning to stifle his emotional state, fighting back against the tide he felt like he was being suffocated by. Maybe Lana had a point; maybe simply resorting to the same tactic, the same concept, didn't lessen him as a person...not so much as having resorted to it without thinking beforehand would've. And even if she didn't and she was somehow wrong, He had already cried enough about it over the years; , he wasn't going to allow himself anymore tears now... Tears wouldn't do anything, tears weren't going to make Gallen pay for what he did, for how badly he had betrayed him and mom. Tears weren't going to rewrite the past and make it as it should've been, or even as it could've been. And tears weren't going to bring his dad back either. And so he had no use for them. If he was going to prove himself to be better than Galen, prove himself to be good enough to hunt the man down and put him where he belongs for the rest of his life; Behind Bars in a prison somewhere, then giving up and breaking down like this was not the way to do it... but yet the feeling of utter pointlessness still crept about in the corners of his mind, despite resolve trickling back in little by little. Waiting, lurking... "She's right, ya know." Played over his headphones in a stylized voice ripped from words of several songs without warning as he dried his tears. Java appeared from the pocket where he kept his MP3 player, hovering in front of the boy's face and giving him a surprisingly reassuring look for one who usually seemed disconnected from everything. Burns still covered his entire body from the attack from Spitfire he'd taken, but it seemed as though the porygon wasn't concerned about the injuries from his last fight as much as what he wanted to say.Another bout of static and ripped song lyrics came out of the headphones, making another cacophony of noise and different voices from a multitude of songs as Java slowly pieced together his next statement, this one loud enough for Lana and Erce to hear as well. "You are... far better than that... and you are not alone. In this together...remember? And I don't... Follow... Stupid... orders. That... out there... It was not...A... Stupid... Order... or... reckless... or... careless. It... was...Brilliant...Foresight. you thought... before you... acted." Erce had a look of utter shock on her reptilian face as she looked at the Porygon, the thing struggling to stay conscious any longer from the stress of his injuries. She had never thought that this glorified computer program of a creature could actually feel sympathy, not alone care enough about anything to actually speak out in a situation like this... not that she was complaining he did though. Hell, if anything, she was glad; It had apparently been Java who had ultimately chosen to follow the order in question, so who better than java to offer support about the matter? All she could honestly do is nod earnestly as the boy steadily regained his composure, for once feeling a bit thankful that the mass of Polygons was apart of the team. "Java..." was all her trainer could manage, just as surprised as the Scyther at Java's supportive testimony. There was no response though. Java tumbled out of the air like a rock a few seconds later, landing right in his lap, out cold. Mareek gave a look to Erce as he hastily duck out a Rawst Berry from his pocket, getting a stare from her that held genuine trust and faith, that said she whole heartily agreed with the Co-Strategist's words. The boy held up the berry and on cue she swung one of her scythes in a clean stroke, splitting the thing right across the middle. "Lana...Java...Erce..." he said as he began to apply the exposed flesh of one of the berry halves to Java's body, making sure to cover everywhere that was scorched before casting the thing away and pulling out a Sitrus berry, rolling it in between his finger's pensively for while. "You guys... you're right. I guess I am better than that... if all of you, even Java, thinks so." Finally he decided to simply peel the skin off the bottom portion of the berry, taking it to Java's injuries and applying the fluid that slowly leaked from the flesh like a balm of sorts. Java's eyes came back into focus again as he began hovering a little bit above Mareek's lap as he continued the treatment, using his other hand to keep the Porygon from floating around idly too much. "And Lana..." he said when he had just about finished and Java was beginning to struggle against his restraining hold. "what you and Java both said... Thank you for that... I'm sorry you had to see something like that from me."
