[OOC/Sign-ups] Surge Story

I know we're on types and reworking the matchup tables right now and all, but just real quick, something that's been really bothering me. Does anyone want to toss out the idea of "All pokemon Species produce Eggs?" Because honestly, it just seems fucking ridiculous to me that a clearly mammalian creature like a Flareon or a Tuaros or Pikachu, etc. would lay an egg instead of producing Offspring via Live Birth like Biology actually works. Since we're trying to go for realism here... who's in favor of doing away with that notion and going back to allowing Live Births for certain species it would make more sense for? (Yes, I know this conflicts directly with what Ray said back in Chapter one about the matter, but I can always just go back and edit...)- 1189 replies

Mareek stepped up to the field in silence, looking at Jacob on the other end as he reached down to his belt and sent out Nemo. The Cubone stared curiously around the area, knowing that it was time to battle the moment he saw Jacob at the other end. "Alright, real quick buddie," Mareek said as he knelt down in front of the Orphan. "This is probably gonna be a tough fight up ahead of us. See that guy right there, Jacob?" Nemo cast a glance at him and nodded. "I'm going to send you out first, make you the lead of the lineup," He continued. "I'm expecting him to counter us with that Lapras of his right off the bat, so be careful out there." Nemo nodded again. "Good," Mareek said, turning his attention to Jacob. "Ready when you are..." -
Jace took his leave from the tent after a while, helmet held in the crux of his arm. The moment he knew he was out of earshot from Mission Command, he pulled at the Armored collar of his exo suit, pulling out the tiny Micro Driver he had stashed. Two minutes and some very advanced Hacking Skills later, and he had disabled the embedded Recording Software and listening device that the Feds had installed in every helm of every soldier on this mission. He took the tool to the circuitry again, forcingly reopening the Code of the computer system and opening the encrypted back channel he'd installed. "You're late with the relay, Jace" He heard a very unexpected Teenage Girl's voice say over the comm as he stowed the Driver back into his Suit. "Tami?" He raised an eyebrow in confusion, "How... where's Leah? Or Marcus? Why is it you answering this?" Then he began to realize that the very thing he had feared had occurred. "They approached you, didn't they? Even after I fucking told them not to..." "If it makes you feel any better, I kinda got myself on their radar by accident... well, an accident named Scott Bane." Oh great... Jace thought to himself. So both of them are involved now. So much for my effort then... "Why didn't you tell us about any of this?" The girl asked in the silence he provided. "Like either of us would've honestly ostracized you for the decision you made..." "To protect you." He finally sighed into the comm. "To protect you both. Encase things failed... I wanted both of you to honestly be able to say you had no involvement in this, for both of you to be safe from their wrath. I told them not to talk to you or ever contact you... but I had figured Scott wouldn't have even been an issue here, so of course for him..." "That's honestly not fair, Jace," Tami protested, rising to her older brother's defense. "He's been trying to clean up his act lately, give him some slack for the effort." "When did he last forge a fake ID to go out drinking underage?" "A month ago. He's stopped since then though..." "Because most of the bars and clubs aren't even open anymore, Tamira... When's the last time he got in trouble with the law? When's the last time he gave mom grief with all the crap he starts?" There was no response to that from Tami. Bane stood for a minute or two, wondering what was going on that could've quieted her like this. He heard Foot falls and door closing on the other end. A woman's voice picked up the conversation. It was Leah. "You're tearing at wounds that are still fresh, Jace..." she scolded. "What the hell are you talking about?" he demanded, more perplexed than ever. "You're mother... took a turn, Jace. she was sent into quarantine just a few hours after you left." There was complete silence from the young commander. "Jace? Jace, you have to stay focused right now... I know the feeling you probably have right now, but-" "She dies, and I kill them all," He said simply. "Every single god damn one of those fucktards..." "Jace..." "Look after Tamira for me, alright? Until this is over and I have what we need to prove everything." with that said, He turned off the Back Channel before Leah could respond, taking out his Driver and again enabling the listening devices from the Government, making it seem as though they had just glitched for a few seconds rather than a few minutes. They wouldn't be none the wiser to it. Garren, meanwhile, had been too far away to hear most of the conversation... but he had managed to overhear snippets of the last minute or two, unbeknownst to Bane...

"No..." Mareek said. "I honestly don't want to believe it... but a few years ago, I also didn't think or want to believe that my own brother would join that organization, and I was in for a nasty surpris-" He stopped suddenly, realizing what the hell he had just told her. And he stayed like that, not knowing how to go on to possibly steer the conversation away from it. The one thing he did whatever he could to make sure no one ever finds out, and he goes just blurting it out like that... God! how he felt like a fucking idiot right now... "Um... please..." He asked, eyes pleading with the girl in a last ditch effort to keep his secret. "Don't tell anyone I said that just now, ok? It's not... not something I want circulating around. I just want to be sure that Evan's not involved with them. Though I guess that you can probably tell after... well, that, that I have personal reasons for it too..." -
There is a legitimate reason why Bane hates the Government as a whole.

A basic rundown of the camp so Whit can actually lead people places: The Camp Perimeter is Circular in shape. there is no actual barrier to keep out Wild Life, and as such there are guards on duty around the place at all times. The main entrance is to the south, which is where the trail leading to the drop off point you arrived at initially is. The Major Facilities, such as the on sight Mission Command Center, Intelligence and data Processing, The Bio Center, and The Supply Tent, are all in the center of the camp. (Mission Intel and Mission Command are actually housed in the same tent for obvious reasons.) The Sleeping quarters are arranged in a semi circle in the southern half of the camp, Male Soldiers to the left tents, Female Soldiers to the right tents, for obvious reasons...Respective Latrines and personal facilities such as showers and what not are beside them. The Chow tent is tucked away near the center of the camp along with the major facilities, but stand out from them still. To the north is the path which leads into the Ruins of Eden. A heavily armed guard is stationed at all times and ordered to mow down anywho attempt to pass without authorization indiscriminately, and is more than willing to if needed. All areas, except for the Command Tent, are currently manned and you will find people assigned to tend to them there. Aside from the Perimeter, the Sleeping Quarters, and the entrance to Eden, security inside the place is rather relaxed and so you can pretty much go anywhere in the camp... except the path to Eden.

Looks like I might have a reason to start keeping a few tabs on him then... Mareek thought to himself. Erce meanwhile kept her own eye on the Litwick that had mossied over to Lana, suspicious about the thing just out of natural instinct. It just didn't feel right to her, the ghost types presence... It didn't have anything to do with the fire typing though, she looked at them and she would almost always feel the immediate desire to try to curb stomp em in battle to prove her strength. No, there was something about this Living Candle's presence... something that the Mantis simply couldn't place right now. "Alright, thanks for the help," Mareek said. "I just want to start keeping a bit of an eye on him from now on though... just in case, ya know? I just think the last thing this world honestly needs is more individuals following Radical Ideologies like Rocket's..." -
Lars and Logan... The next thing the two knew, they were standing somewhere dimly lit deep underground. An brick laid structure stretched out for miles and miles all around them, arc after stone arc and steel reinforcement rods lined the ceiling, making the whole place look like it could withstand even a considerable earthquake with ease. The sound of water rushing by catching their attention immediately as a large, broad stream flowed right beside the pathway they stood on, clear and, from the looks of it, pure enough to even drink. Perhaps this is what Surge had been talking about? Either way, it appeared that they were somewhere in the sewer .. which was honestly a hell of a lot better than being mauled by a giant Turtle with plants growing out of it's back. The air was cold down here. The place was clean, the walls a slate grey, and the ground surprisingly free of any dust or other debris such as trash. There was but one question, two, actually; where were they in the city, and how were they going to get out of here and back to Surge and Spark Alpha? On the hillside Surge got up the moment he heard Clemont's voice, knowing that the fox man had intervened. Unlike usual though, he didn't quite find the anger in the Psychic's voice very amusing at the moment. Namely due to the fact that he and his fire team had nearly bitten the bullet, but also for the fact that a whole host of other issues were probably about to start right now. Nothing came after that, though... much to the Commander's surprise. "So he just magically saves all of us," he said. "And then runs off? alright, hey, I'll take it over death..." A Blue shape, strongly resembling a giant turtle, hurtled up into the air for a few meters as he spoke. Then the thing was sent rocketing back down at a speed that far exceeded what it's natural acceleration should've been. "Scratch that, Soldiers," Surge corrected himself. "There he is..." In the 'Burbs Chang looked on in a bit of surprise as without warning, his Alpha had started levitating into the air. His mouth had dropped even more when he saw the thing float up even higher into the air. But the moment it came slamming down and breaking up the pavement before skidding to a stop at his feet, he knew what was going on. "General Clemont..." He didn't even have to look up at the Alakazam as he materialized beside him, glaring down at the soldier. "This is your only warning, Staff Sergeant..." He called mentally, a withering tone in the message. "All combat tactics used during this assignment are forbidden from being explicitly lethal in nature, this was made more than clear several times in the initial debriefing files." He snapped his fingers, and behind him the CO's defeated Torterra came into being with a white flash. "What you just attempted crossed the line. The GWC is not exactly in a position where it can afford to lose soldiers right now, especially from murder during training exercises. Attack or order an attack with the intent to kill a fellow Service member again, and I'll see to it your military career ends that very second and you stand before a Tribunal. Understand?" "Yes sir..." Chang said reluctantly. If there was anything worse than a reprimand from a superior at his rank, it was a reprimand from a superior who technically wasn't even fucking human anymore... Clemont held a lingering glance at the man. Then turned his back and teleported away. And Chang and his defeated GAOs found themselves teleported away as well; right back to the base camp on the bridge, well ahead of their team... On the hill side... "Try harder to stay out of trouble," Clemont's telepathic voice echoed out finally, though he was nowhere to be seen. "Because it is partially your fault if you do something that makes another Squadron Commander want to kill you during training. Either tone it down now or simply don't become sitting ducks to be wiped out in the future. That is all."

"Oh, there is no way that the bastard is dead..." Rodriguez whispered back with a discrete gesture the to pope. "It couldn't possibly be that simple or that easy, and he probably knows that, after all, this is a man from the deepest folds of his inner circle; if anyone has knowledge of what tricks he might be capable of, it should be him. But either way, I think it high time we get out of this scene, and then get as far away from this whole damn city as possible...I'm intending to head west towards Lithania, but what do you all going to do about all that has been... Squad profile- basic description Hot Wasabi CO: Lee Chang (E-5) age 30 Members: 10 Time since commissioned: several years Theme: One of the oldest squads in the Genomic Weapon Corps, they were among the earliest test batch the majority of it's current members having been enlisted in the US army and then reassigned to the program. Despite their motley and unassuming looks, they are incredibly fierce in battle. Their commander, Lee Chang, is by all appearances just a medic, but he holds under his ownership two incredibly powerful specimens of the Species Blastoise and Torterra, both of which have been identified as Alpha Males of their kind. Though they are slow to get into rhythm in a fight, once their CO has had enough, the Alpha's come out and all hell is unleashed upon their enemies. They seem to hold an alliance with a "Commander Geo" whoever this officer might be...- 1189 replies

In the 'Burbs... Chang, Ranked E-6 and commanding officer of the Squadron known as Hot Wasabi lowered his binoculars just as the mud began to rain down from the dark heavens. A disgruntled look was all he answered the tactic with, scowling in Chagrin as he watched himself and his team become completely coated in the stuff. Hot Wasabi couldn't even keep up the meager counter offensive they had attempted because every electric type they had had been neutralized by the wet dirt; They couldn't even muster a spark anymore from the insulation on their skin and bodies. "That son of a bitch..." He cursed silently under his breath as his Blissey continued to attempt cleaning the mud off of itself nearby. "Fall back to the bridge, everyone... we can't win against the Crazies of Bexly." The soldiers under his command just looked at him, looking at him like he was crazy, then gradually being taken by realization and when they pieced together what they'd just been through and the words their CO had just said. There were only two Squads in Bexly who people thought of as Crazy, and that Tesla Death beam that had damn near killed them all had to have been the work of none other than Surge and his cohorts... and for what it was worth, most thought that he and his men were the craziest. "Yes sir," a female corporal with skin the color of dark chocolate and hazel eyes called before repeating his commands. "Hot Wasabi, back to the Bridge!" "Fuck that order!" an angry hispanic Private shouted in fury. "Those Putas, they killed my Rathalos!" In his arms he cradled the tattered and burned remains of the Staraptor Crusader had slain in the skies above. a few tears were streaming down his face in mourning, which honestly just reinforced the resolve of his team to withdraw; if the toughest guy on the squad was weeping... and Spark Alpha had obviously shown no mercy here... The fire bombardment, the Death Beam, Roddy's 'Rathalos'. These bastards honestly were crazy. They must have fought this was an active conflict zone or something... "Roddy," Chang said simply, putting a hand on one of the big hispanic's broad shoulder. "Vengeance can come later... Commander Geo will be wanting a piece of Surge and his men anyway to settle things, let's just let the packs of rabid dogs to tear each other apart limb from limb." "Roddy stayed on his knees in the muddy street for a moment," a smart mouthed, bespectacled Private Narrated in a melodramatic voice over as Roddy did these things. "then without a word, the soul crushing grief in his eyes gave way to a fiery anger, anger hell bent on avenging his fallen partner. and without a word, that big mexican arose from his place and-" "You need to shut the fuck up with the constant narration. Right now, soldier." The Black Corporal ordered him. "Said Ariana," The private continued. "a look of pure annoyance marring her usually exotic, captivating features. Roddy looked over with a stare of utter contempt, still cradling his slain friend's Corpse. The blood dripped upon his bare palms, staining the front of his uniform in a near symbolic smear; that shaped like an eagle in flight." "Seriously, shut the fuck up," Another soldier concurred with the corporal. "You're being a real dick right now.." "Adam protested, rising to the defense of his brother from another mother, eyes filled with annoyance similar to Ariana's. Roddy began to stalk closer, the contempt in his beady ojos blazing bright like the sun, wrath like that of a bull beginning to pour o-" "Annansi," Arianna called, reaching to her belt and sending out a large arachnid like GAO with a red body decorated with various black patterns. "Gag him." The thing obeyed, pulling back and then launching a bout of strong silk from the back of it's abdomen, spraying the stuff all across the Offending Subordinates face and effectively ending the man's constant story telling. Chang himself looked over in annoyance. "Andrew, you keep up the damn narration from now on, and I'll make you run blocks until this entire city singing "Yellow Bird" until you drop. As for you, Corporal Good job shutting him up for now." He looked over at the bridge rising in the distance, plotting out how he'd get his men back without suffering another barrage from Surge's Psychos. Finally he came to a plan he could stand behind. "Corporal Johnson," He said to Ariana, the woman standing at attention. "I am hereby placing command in you until further notice. Lead the squad back to the bridge and report to Commander Geo that Spark Alpha is nearby." "Yes sir," was all she said, recalling her Ariados and gripping her rifle with both hands, setting off in a run for base camp. "Let's move! Hot Wasabi!" The moment that his men were gone, Chang recalled his Blissey to her capsule... and took out his heavy hitters. An man sized, blue skinned bipedal turtle with two cannons on it's back that could cause far more damage than a fifty cal. And a another Turtle, this one Green and on all fours, with what was best described as a tree and thorn bush growing out of it's shell. It's armoring looked more formidable than even a tank. Eyes set on the hill and the rock snake that stood out, he thrust out his hand in a powerful gesture of authority, glaring at his Blastoise with ferocity that the turtle mirrored easily. "Blow it apart! take out the whole hill side!" Silence. Then a strange sucking sound as the moisture in the air began to condense into water droplets and then into tiny spheres on the end of the things cannons. then the spheres grew larger, and larger, and finally merged into one before the beast. The air was dry and brittle. A ball of bright, shining blue was aimed at Spark Alpha's position, about the size of car tire, so bright it was blinding. and then with a sound similiar to a Tank Cannon being fired, the thing was sent flying towards them... Meanwhile Chang looked to his Torterra, a raw, intense drive in his eyes. "You, go follow the men Surge sent to flank us! take em out!" The earthen Turtle nodded, stomping off far faster than one might expect for a beast it's size... Jory's Fireteam A sudden shaking stopped corporal Robertson in his very shakes. IT had come from behind him, starting off soft, then growing in intensity and speed. A look around at his surroundings would reveal nothing helpful for determining the source, despite it growing ever more powerful. Lars and Logan meanwhile could feel it as well... The next thing the two knew, the world faded into a blur of broken branches and leaves and foliage. A roar that would've made even a battle hardened Colonel turn his fatigues brown echoed out in ear splitting volume, deep and guttural, raw with fury. The shaking increased, and bursting out of the woods beside the Medic and his backup was a Giant, Armored turtle of rich green color, a tree and thorn bush growing from it's back. The thing came charging at them like a fright train, tree glowing a bright green and sun light being absorbed as it fired off it's attack at the two, a hazy, greenish white beam of condensed Solar power that burned the very air as it arced for them... they were utterly and purely screwed. Until they noticed the tell tale signs of rippling air in front of them; they recognized the effect from Erick's partner... but this was far larger than anything they had seen it produce. The Beam slammed against the barrier at full force, then the whole psychic construct glowed a dull blue, and like magic, the attack was being reflected right back like a laser hitting a mirror. the thing hit the Turtle dead on, causing an explosion and heat so raw and intense that it damn near deafened Lars and Logan. "Run!" They heard Clemont's voice order into their minds. Surge's Fireteam "Shiiiiiiiiiit!" Surge shouted as he stared at the ball of blue hurtling towards them from down below. He looked back at his fire team, eye's filled with urgency. "Get the fuck down, everyone!" then he followed his own advice and dove to the ground a few meters behind were he had been standing, as did Infantry and the Politoad... but the Attack never came. IT never came because just as it had closed in, the soldiers had witnessed something strange. The air had rippled like someone had put up a barrier. The sphere had burst into a powerful blast upon contact, shaking the very earth and sending gallons upon gallons of water raining down the hill. But they were all still alive and unharmed. "This has gone entirely too far!!!!" Clemont's voice roared out in the area. "I knew I should've stepped in earlier..."

Well considering that his personality kinda makes him somewhat of a problem solver/ a thinker and the fact that he had been on the run for at least several months (like all the other PCs) he would've had to learn a lot about his own ability through Trial and error somewhat out of necessity to control it, and as a result would be pretty competent with using it by now (which would be the "Certain Skills" he mentioned in that mental monologue against Alistair in the kitchen). Not exactly mastered it, but he knows enough about it and how it works. I was thinking more of at this point having just limiting it to him be able to sense the exact temperature of the object/ Person and how large/ far away it/ they are and that be about it. The main reason I say he's fairly competent in the use of his ability is because I honestly prefer not for the majority of development for him not to come from "Learning how to wield his power" Since that honestly works a lot better for coming of age stories and that kinda doesn't work out on him since he's in his mid 30's with a wife and two kids. instead I want more of it to directly come from his struggle for his family and animosity against Utopia, trying to figure out who he should lend his aid to and who can ultimately pretty much bring the brightest possible future, all that coupled with his interactions with the other PCs whom he will meet and cross paths with. Basically I intend his greatest conflict to be Philosophical in nature, such as whether to be lawful or to be good in the end for example, and other such things, rather than something as generic as "How do I shoot web" -

Thermal, eh? Well, Anver technically has a form of Thermography, basically he is capable of using the "Thermal Field" technique to form a mental map in his mind of Heat Signatures, which would pretty much look the same as a Thermal Imager in a way, even though his eyes aren't wired to actually see heat ("Thermal Field" pretty much just works by Him being able to just sense the heat energy generated by the motion of Particles with his mind, or the lack there of even.) So... Anver would be able to "peer" into the darkness in a way then, right? just for future reference... -

So he didn't, eh? I'll have to ask prof. Cadmus if Skarmories even live anywhere around here later... "Ok... just one more then," He stopped, recalling Tyron's orders from earlier about not telling any other students. That only applied for the search, right? considering the context that had come with it, Mareek thought it probably did, and Slade had probably already blabbed off to a lot of people about his encounter by now... "This is gonna sound like a weird question... but do you think he would join an organization like Team Rocket if he was approached? The only reason I ask is...well, Slade claims he was approached by them earlier today and that they tried to recruit him... and then when we were out searching for Evan, at the place where you were attacked by the powder storm from those grass types, Professor Silva and I spotted a piece of torn black cloth in one of the thorn bushes that looked it came from a uniform... and then the Tire Tracks that Doux was looking at when we spotted him... and then the Skarmory over there by the tent....Sorry, I'm probably just a little paranoid, but... " He hoped that she would get where he was going with all this... -
So, an old woman in my local area got on the news for spotting a Swatztika sign on some wraping paper pattern or whatever... and they show what the design on the thing looks like and highligt where the lines connect "Coincidentally" in my opinion, and guess what? It's not even the fucking Nazi Version. The thing was perfectly 90 degrees, didn't have the tilt that hitler gave it when he used it

Mareek stared at the Skarmory blocking the tent entrance with more than a bit of suspicion. He had walked back with Lana and the group after they'd found Evan, though he'd lagged behind the entire time, trying to piece things together from what he had seen. Rockets had definitely been around the area where the guy was found. But there was one puzzle piece he couldn't place... the overgrown metal chicken was apparently Evan's, from what he had heard. "Hey, Lana..." He began, turning to face the girl. "You know Evan, right, talked to him and all? Just out of curiosity, did you ever see a Skarmory on his team before?" He paused, considering what this all might mean, all the evidence. It was almost undeniable that whatever had gone down, he'd made contact at some point with the agents Slade had found, or at least someone probably with them, how else could it all be explained? "Actually, there's a few other things I'd also like to ask you about him. Um... if you don't mind, that is..." -

Anyone want to actually know where things are in the camp, or should I just wing it and make up the facilities and their locations as needed? and feel free to interact with each other right now. (Though, I'd be surprised if you people weren't absolutely sick of each other after hours and hours of walking...)

Actually, funny thing... the idiots blocked the "Game Download" page on the site, but the actual forums and the home page? nope. Yeah, I think they're somewhat asleep at the wheel when it comes to web monitoring around my local school area. I'm pretty sure all the Blocks (It uses some system called McAfee Gateway to block, BTW) have to be set manually, IE, isn't an autonomous program EDIT: And I'm honestly liking Erce as a plotter of sorts...

"Hey, don't mention it," Mareek returned a smile just as warm to the girl. "Afterall, friends watch out for each other, right? And I don't take very kindly when mine get messed with, never have and never will." Erce meanwhile, watched from the air curiously. How interesting; this girl, Lana... she seemed to be the only one who Mareek had talked to over the weeks whom he really opened up to of his own accord. It was strange, but whenever the two got to interacting, she noticed a change in him, like he brightened or something... In fact, if she didn't know any better... The mantis made sure to take a mental note of Lana in her mind. Maybe the girl could prove useful, if her growing concerns about the boy beginning to relapse were right. Useful indeed, this little way of sunshine could be... Java meanwhile, simply rolled his eyes in impatience and tried to float down to his Trainer, to urge the boy to stop this and get back in focus; the other two had left them behind. Erce stopped him though, halted him with the gesture of holding one of her Scythes out right in the path of his hovering. Her eye's said it all to the Porygon as she glanced at it and shook her head "Don't interrupt any of this". It took a few moments. The two seemed to be locked into a Staring match. Then Erce's Scythe began to take on a bright green glow... and Java, not being an idiot, got the intended message immediately. While he could blow her out of the sky with Discharge... the damn mantis could move a lot faster than him. He probably wouldn't win a head-on battle against her without sustaining heavy injury in the process. And to top it off, then he'd probably get reprimanded by Mareek for starting a fight with a team mate, and a reprimand would honestly hurt his mission to earn the respect he felt was due to him... so just like that, he backed down. resigning to simply wait along with Erce in the air...
