  1. Alright, Soldiers... I'm going to try my hand at challenging the Excessum league to make up for Stratos never getting around to taking on the Reborn League back when it was still around. The following are currently what I'm considering using for it (I have yet to actually sign up). I warn you though, many, hell, ALL of these have little rhyme or reason behind why I'm thinking of using them other than they just popped into my head randomly. most of them have just been ripped from the campus of Smogon University and Tweaked a little. In your advice on how to improve it, do keep in mind that it has to conform to the Excessum League Regulations (IE, Challengers can't have Megas or Legends) Erce (Scizor) (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Technician EVs: 176 HP / 104 Atk / 228 SDef Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk) - Swords Dance - Roost - Bullet Punch - Knock Off Notes: A set meant to be used for a Scizor equip to Mega Evolve that I nabbed off smogon and then tweaked a bit... don't really know why I'm even considering it aside from a tribute to something. Talonflame (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Gale Wings EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Brave Bird - Flare Blitz - Roost - U-turn Notes: Your classic Talonflame load out, soldier. Just like the one I used back during the Nation War while in the service of Volcanic. This old bastard has carried me through in the past, and I'm hoping it'll be able to do it again in the future. Greninja (M) @ Choice Specs Trait: Protean EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Scald - Dark Pulse - U-turn - Extrasensory Notes: Your classic Greninja Load out. I first found out about this back when Vermilion had Dark Types at our disposle for the first time. Makes a good Special Sweeper in the right circumstances Vinny (Weavile) (M) @ Life Orb Trait: Pressure EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Knock Off - Ice Shard - Ice Punch - Low Kick Notes: I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist naming it...anyway, another one that was just straight stolen from Smogon, meant to be used as a revenge killer against dragon typed sweepers like Garchomp and Salamence, with Priority Ice Shard packing the hurt. Torterra (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Shell Armor EVs: 252 Atk / 56 Def / 176 SDef Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Curse - Earthquake - Synthesis - Wood Hammer Notes: Needed something to cover Electric Types and Water as well. My attempt to assemble a self repairing tank. The Wrath (Salamence) (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Moxie EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Dragon Dance - Dragon Claw - Earthquake - Fire Fang Notes: This one... this guy right here, we go waaaay far back. Meant to be a Physical Sweeper, I like to go with Leftovers over Life Orb because in my past experiences, doing so makes him last a little longer so that we can deal out hurt for even longer if we manage to get set up. Well, there they are, Soldiers. That's my load out, I've used it a few times in test battles, and quite frankly aren't satisfied with the results. Any suggestions to improve it for the challenges ahead?
  2. Only when he gets truly pissed off about something, soldier EDIT: Well, Corporal Dobby... I do believe this is a good stopping point in the conversation. I honestly can't think of anything else for Mareek to say without making the rest of the interaction feel more forced than I intend it to be.
  3. "Yeah, I can see that..." Mareek said, looking at the Cottonee and Karablast. "I'm guessing you haven't caught anything out then? Cubone here just kinda started following me after the Swellow incident, so I figured I'd just take him with me after a while..."
  4. Wait... Soldiers, I know why I Like the Charity Case so much. I've finally realize it; He is the one and only with whom Mareek can form a bond that can exceed the one he already has with Erce... It is the one species with which he can bond completely. If this were Pokemon Conquest or something, one could even say that it would be his "Perfect Link", while Erce's maxes out at only about 80-90%. Looks like the scyther is going to have a very big rival for the boy's friendship in the future... -The Charity Case One Partner to Rule Them All
  5. "No..." Mareek said, forcing himself to calm down. The guy obviously meant well... he had just blundered a little by bringing that up. "Look, despite what it might have seemed like a minute ago, I'm not going to kick your ass just because you happened to say something that set me off a little. Partially because of Erce here not letting me do stuff like that when I get mad, but mostly because I myself don't believe in doing it." Erce finally lowered her arm upon hearing that. Mareek didn't make any further moves to suggest he'd attack. "Look, it's fine... I know you meant well... you didn't deserve that; Sorry about almost going off. Sometimes I just can't help but just go straight from 0 to 100 in certain situations where I think something's wrong. " Cubone still looked up at him from below. "Like with this little guy right here," he continued, nodding to the orphan he'd taken under his wing. "I found him when the three of us were out in the forest carving our sculpture. His bone had been stolen by a Bitch of a Swellow and I found him hopping up and down at the base of the tree containing her nest, crying in frustration at not being able to get back what was rightfully his... I just got...so pissed off, I mean, really? He's already all alone in the world, no one to turn to, no one to trust, no friends and no family... and then this Swellow comes along, and robs him and makes him even poorer than he already is? I just... I couldn't just stand there and watch and do nothing. Because for one, that bitch had also stolen our carving, and we needed to get it back, and two, I was even madder about his bone being stolen than I was about my carving, And three, that feathered thief was just sitting up there in her perch, mocking us both as we stared up at her. Java drove her out of the nest with discharge, Erce went up and knocked the thing out of the tree and Java caught them with a psybeam as they fell. All in all, by the time we were done, her Nest was in ruins on the ground and I got Cubone his Bone back... and Erce had been knocked out by a cheap shot right before the thing fled. But I swear to god, if I ever that Swellow ever again..." As if on cue, a few sparks crackled in the air around Java to finish the boy's statement, signifying what would happen. "Cube!" Cubone said happily, raising his club for Claude to see and confirming that the story was indeed true.
  6. Just had to say something about the Scyther, didn't you, Corporal?

    1. Felicity

      Felicity

      Indeed he did.

  7. ((Soldier, that little comment at the end has royally pissed him off...)) Mareek stood there and listened to Claude's story with just as much respect as the other trainer had to his. But now, he was angry... That little comment about him being confused about how he felt about Erce and his brother... Who was this little shit to go speculating about that? Resent Erce? for years and years, the Scyther had been the only friend he had fucking had! And she probably would be the best one he ever did. "Well fuck it, I try and this type of shit happens as my reward..." He scoffed mentally "maybe this is why I have the wall..." He didn't have to look down at Cubone for courage to push on anymore. He had the fires of anger to drive him forward instead. "You're absolutely right," He snarled, powerful rage evident in his voice as he crossed his arms over his chest. "It isn't any of your business at all. And don't you think for a second that I've EVER resented Erce for my God aweful, Sack of Shit Brother has ever done. She's just as much a victim to some of his crimes as I am, and to blame her for something that the vast majority of which was completely and utterly out of her control would be among the most unfair things I've heard of yet. Yes, I came to realize that she was probably stolen, or worse, from someone in the past, but you know what? I NEVER blamed her for it, because it wasn't her damn fault and she didn't deserve any blame from it. All I did was come to realize it, and then accept it afterwards." He began to take a few aggressive steps forward, only for erce to hold out an arm in front of him, holding the boy back. She could tell full well that he'd get into a bad scuffle with the Cottonee Trainer if she didn't restrain him "You see this right here?" Mareek hissed, backing away now and nodding at the mantis "This is how good of a friend Erce has always been to me, so much that She's willing to hold me back and restrain me from doing something stupid, even in those times when I'm not entirely sane enough to do so myself like I should. So don't fucking sit there, and speculate about how conflicted I might, or might not, feel about her as my Partner, got me? You don't know me, buddy, or anything that I've gone through in my life..." He stood there, behind Erce's still outstretched arm, waiting for Claude's response. There was no way he was gonna just walk away and end the conversation now, not as royally pissed off as he was... so, at least that was good, right?
  8. Soldier, that story from claude was not BS in the least bit, I don't see how it possibly could be... but now you've hit a hot button with the comment about his association of his scyther with his brother, now that part, that was the only speculation I saw...
  9. The determination granting stare from Cubone was still very strong. Just another glance back down at him and Mareek felt it surge within him, mentally charged forward along the edge of his mental wall, and took the words he was looking for rather than waiting for them to swing around and drop by. "She was a gift for my eighth birthday," he began. "From my... my older brother." he snarled a little at the mention of the word 'Brother', obviously angered by some memory associated with it. He didn't let his anger and his pain and hate from that aweful day he was thinking about rise up though, He focused himself on keeping onwards in the momentum of the words. Cubone just nodded at him, encouraging all the further, sensing that whatever the issue was, he was helping him through. "He'd... he would always show up on that day," Mareek continued. "Ever since he had left home when I was like five. He always had expensive Birthday gifts for me when he visited. Every year I asked the same thing: where'd he get it? how did he manage to pay for something like it? and every year he would always tell me the same thing: Don't worry about it. And my birthday that year was nothing different, except that time instead of something expensive, he had a pokeball hidden behind his back." He glanced other at Erce, surprising her with the determination in his eyes. "In it was Erce. I didn't where she had come from back then, but over the years, as I got older I became fairly certain that she'd been a prize at the Game Corner in Celadon Game Corner at some point... and probably abandoned before that." He paused for a moment, considering that wording. "You know what? no...not abandoned... more like she was probably stolen from her original Trainer, either that or poached up from the wild and sold on the black market or something. Either way, she's never been willing to give any hints about what may or may not have happened, so I'm not going to ever force her to." Erce was very much surprised by the boy's words... so all these years, he had suspected that she had been stolen from someone else? Of course he had... this would explain those few times when he would suddenly ask her how things had been for her before befriending him, it was because he had a creeping suspicion of what had happened to her already and was trying to narrow it down. She looked at him somewhat in a different light now... All those years ago, what was it now? ten, twelve maybe? Adrianus was probably grown a lot by now, no longer the ambitious, Fool hardy young kid she had first bonded with... in fact, she wondered if her old Trainer had forgotten about her over all this time... "That's how I met Erce..." Mareek said, almost defiantly. "Now...a deals a deal."
  10. It's strange.. for some reason I'm beginning to like the Charity Case very much...
  11. "What? oh...um, yeah, We've been together for a few years now," Mareek said, broken out of his thoughts. He didn't pay much mind to Duox as the Cottonee hovered around him. "She's probably the closest friend I've ever had..." And then the awkwardness began to creep back in. God, how conflicted he was right now... While he did want to try to talk to someone... at the same time, the struggle he was going through just to find the words to respond with was borderlining on absolutely ridiculous in his mind. The effort honestly seemed so clunky and unwieldy... then there was some type of tapping on his shoe. Cubone tapped again with his club against his new trainer's sneaker, Trying to get his attention. He honestly didn't know what was going on with him, but it seemed like he was struggling with something and honestly feeling like just giving up and backing down. Cubone wasn't going to let such a thing happen, though, not after what Mareek and The Scyther and the Weird Angular thingy had shown him about courage when they drove out that mean old hag of a Swellow who had robbed him. More than anything, Cubone wanted to try to emulate that type of courage himself, to be like Mareek and his brave team... and seeing the boy like this... well, he just felt he had to do something, give him some sort of encouragement, whatever it was that the Trainer was struggling with right now. "Cubone!" he called insistently, looking up at Mareek with a shake of his head coupled with a look in his eyes that said "Don't give up". It was about all he could do though, so he hoped it worked and helped him. "What?" Mareek asked, glancing down at the bone wielding orphan. He could see the strange fire in it's eye, that insistent stare it was giving him, as if the Cubone could see the trouble he was having right now and his desire to quit, and was trying to yell out at him "Don't you just quit like that!". It was that strange, seemingly perfectly needed stare, that was the only thing that stopped Mareek from giving up right then and there. He maintained eye contact for another few seconds with the new team member before looking back up at Claude, determined to try to see this conversation through to a reasonable end. "So... how did you and Doux here meet?" he asked, deciding that if the words didn't want to come to him, he'd just try harder to find them from now on.
  12. "Agility followed immediately after by Double Team," Mareek confirmed, "Took us a little over three weeks of practice to even get anywhere close to doing it right. In fact, just now was the first time she ever successfully pulled it off... so I guess I should thank you and your Karrablast for that random charge a few moments ago." He stood there, not really knowing what to go on with and grasping at something to say next. It was strange, usually when he talked to people, it was easy enough... but doing it like this, actually forcing himself to engage in a conversation... it just felt painfully Awkward. after another few moments he finally just gave up and broke off eye contact, thinking to himself Dejectedly "This is Pointless...Why am I even bothering?"
  13. "Um...Ok, then," Mareek said, recognizing the other Trainer's face immediately from Cadmus' Garden a while ago. "Aren't you the guy that interupted me and that Trainer hailing from Orre back at the Professor's Garden?" he already knew full well that the answer was yes, but for the sake of trying to rebel against this feeling of isolation within himself... this need to... to either push people away or keep them at arm's length, he forced himself to try to make small talk. Erce noticed the expression on his face, still the same from earlier when Rebecca had asked if anything was wrong. She knew full well that there was something going on... but as to what exactly, she couldn't quite pin point just yet. But she would get to the bottom of this; she simply wouldn't allow herself to give up until she did.
  14. Actually, I just figured I'd go ahead and unveil a new non-offensive combo, A Little Ninjutsu. Basically Erce sits there and waits for the Enemies attack to close in, then just at the last second uses Agility to move out of the way, while at the same time making copies of herself using Double team. Of course, it can only work for the actual dodging of attacks if she has time to calm down, focus, and prepare to dodge like with Lance's charge just now.
  15. Mareek turned around as a strange cry filled to air, To see Erce facing down some other Bug type that was charging at her. "What the...?" The scyther only glanced at him confidently as the Karrablast continued it's headlong attack... then just before it was about to make impact, Erce moved, becoming a blur and seeming to disappear into thin air as two identical copies of her appeared behind the Bug as it charged through where she had been before. "Well, I guess the work we've been doing for the past few weeks paid off then," He said, a hint of dejection from moments earlier still in his voice as he turned to find Erce nudging his shoulder from behind. The Doble Team generated copies were still positioned where they were, glaring at Claude's Karrablast. "You finally managed to Focus enough to use a Little Ninjutsu. See, I kept telling you that you needed to calm down and concentrate, anticipate distance and time, and I was right, wasn't I?" The Scyther nodded, turning her attention to the Karrablast as it finally realized that it had missed it's target and began to slow down to a stop. "So...who's partner is this?"
  16. So, Corporal... you wanna have Claude interact with Mareek to try to kill some time?
  17. "Not if The sewers are built to national Regulation levels, Soldier," surge said. "The Legislation passed after Hurricane Sampson hit and crippled the southern East coast a few decades ago requires that all Sewer systems be built to withstand any significant force from above, including that equivalent to the blast of a grenade, and a 10.0 earthquake. If they conjured up this city and followed regulations for the underground, then we should be good to go. But if not, we head across the bridge and take City Hall; there should be a door to an emergency bunker hidden in the lowest levels of the basement, which also leads to multiple tunnels beneath the city that run deeper than even the main sewer lines, taking of that threat. And besides, Private... This is a War Game, just an exercise, not the actual thing. I can guarantee you that no one out here is going to be equip with frag grenades. at the very worst we'll only encounter Flash Bangs, which you all know the standard procedure for; cover your hears and turn your back to the device." Flareon began barking and snarling at something down the hill and in the city suburbs at the bottom. His fur bristled on full alert, glowing red hot as he began to spit several bouts of a fiery missile attack down at the streets below, which all burst upon impact and scorched the asphalt, sending someone down there scurrying for cover. The exterior of some of the houses were burnt from the power of the impact, but luckily nothing was burning. "Infantry, Heel!" He ordered. The Flareon glared at the distance for a few moments... then reluctantly took a sitting position on the hill's slope, body still glowing fuzzily with heat. Surge looked to Logan and Clint again. "Looks like we have a minor change in plans, then," he said before ordering out to the rest of the squad. from where they were, they couldn't here whoever it was down in the burbs... but that meant whoever was down there also could not hear them. "Spark Alpha, Looks like we Got company!" Surge called, pulling out a pair of Binoculars from a side pocket on his pack and sweeping the area. A flash of motion was seen... then a whole company came out of hiding, dashing across the streets and taking cover, all of them focused up on the hill as they disappeared from sight again. "We got ten tangoes, 2 o'clock," he dropped the binos, looking behind him. there was a wood line not far from the southern base of the hill... "Listen up, what we're going to do is split into Two Fire Teams! One stays here with me and Distracts them from up here, while the other falls back to the south, skirts along this wood line, at the other end of the hill, Enter the Burbs from the west and flank these Hotiles. Maelstrom, Grey, Cannon, You three are with me! Robertson, Walker, Holmes, Carter, and Kaiser, you all will take to the wood line and flank them! Do not use Lethal Force! I Repeat, DO NOT USE LETHAL FORCE! Corporal Robertson is in Command! Walkies are in all the packs, Now move out!"
  18. "We need to go Underground, soldier" Surge said, dead serious. "A city this big has simply GOT to have a huge Sewer system, and before you go cringing in recoil, calm down, soldier. This isn't an actual city, no one has ever lived here and the place hasn't even existed until probably a day ago or so. The Sewers themselves should be completely clean then, no human waste to have to worry about, just clean water that probably is filtered in from that river." he pointed quickly at the massive torrent making it's way under the bridge. "As for the bridge, we just leave it alone for now, while true, some commanders may try to cross over to this side, If we make it impassable about half way over, then they'll have to swim if they want it that badly, and with the strength of that River's current, they'll be swept downstream before they ever get close." He lowered his finger, returning his attention to Logan. "This is our plan; First secure entry into the Sewer System, establish base camp, which shouldn't be to hard. Second, we split into two fire teams and sabotage the Bridge's integrity. Third, we return to our Base camp and wait for Clemont to send the mission intel file via Teleportation. Got all that, soldier?."
  19. Alright, soldiers This is a picture I stole off the web of a city, as you can plainly see. this is, more or less, what the city that the War Games are going to be conducted in will look like. The view in the photo graph is the same as if you were standing atop the hill; IE this is what you all see from the hill. You're facing north currently, with a Wind Speed of about 3 MPH. Weathers all clear. Now... get off the hill EDIT... Hm... perhaps I'll stock the city with wild species... EDIT 2: and no, the suburbs I described aren't in this photo, nor is the treeline.
  20. It wasn't long before Spark Alpha made it's way to the Entry Gates of Bexly, to find none other than Clemont waiting for them there, meditating. They'd been seeing more and more of the Fox man over the past few months, and less and less of McCarthy and the other High Ranking Superiors... in fact, It sometimes seemed as though command of the whole base had even been handed over to him. He had gotten into the strange habit of actually wearing attire over time, which almost always meant that he wore Lab Coat and nothing else, and today was no different. He didn't even bothering opening his eyes when he sensed the team approaching, hovering there over top the front gates. "The last Squadron to arrive, as usual." his telepathic voice seemed to ring out from everywhere at once around them. "Disappointing, Surge, indeed." "Just send us to the Area of Operations, Foxman." Surge retorted impatiently. "You forget that you're technically addressing a US General right now, Staff Sergeant." "Excuse me then," Surge scoffed, not a trace of respect in his voice at all. "Sir, Spark Alpha reporting to be deployed to the Area of Operations. If your foxliness would deem it fitting-" he couldn't even finish the insult, Clemont waved his hand and they were engulfed in a white light and gone the next second. But his voice followed them to have one last say. "Someday, I may well decide to have you dropped back to an E-1, Surge. When your standing at attention before a Staff Sergeant yourself sometime in the future, just remember the incidents like this and what you chose to say to your superiors, because You'll have no one but yourself to blame." and then the Telepathic presence was gone from the soldiers' minds. "Ah, look at that, Spark Alpha," Surge chuckled afterwards. "Someone doesn't like being visually compared to a fox. Needs to learn to take a joke is what he needs to do. All that brain power and yet no sense of humor..." They stood on the Outskirts of an expansive city, Spark Alpha did. A metropolis, complete with countless high-rises and complex streets and several suburbs. The place was absolutely massive, at least the size of New York and Las Angeles put together. And there they stood up on a high hill, looking down over all of it. "Anyway, We're here, Soldiers," Surge continued, sending out Infantry, and giving it a few orders to begin sniffing down any one who was nearby. The Flareon stuck his head low to the earth, and like Star Trek, the search began. "First thing we need to do is descend this Hill and scout the area for any Hostiles, after that, we need to secure a position for the night where we can wait for Fox Man to send us the actual mission prompt, which should come at about Dusk. Now move out!" Infantry stopped sniffing the ground, lifting up his head and giving an "All Clear" nod to Surge. "No tangoes detected, Spark Alpha, Now move out!" he ordered the Team, walking over to Clint and tossing his Rifle to Private Carter as he passed, telling the soldier to carry it for him. "Give me your arm, Soldier," he said when he finally reached the crippled Private. Obviously he was going to help him down the hill.
  21. If the soldier who it belongs to simply tosses it away and walks away, then technically it's not stealing. another way is that if the soldier is actively abusing the GAO... well, it would get taken any way and he would be discharged. We're going to take the "Abusive Handler" route and say that Logan, being a medic and all that, "Rescued" it rather than "Stole" it. That's our story for it, and it's what I'm going to tell the general and any of my superiors if they ever inquire about it. But he's still gonna "Steal" it. likely by sneaking up at an opportune time during a distraction. I'll set it up eventually. And enough of this, I'm taking us to the Urban Games now.
  22. I only said "Don't steal from other Soldiers on your Squadron." As in, don't steal GAOs from anyone who is in Spark Alpha. I never said anything about stealing from Soldiers in other Squadrons within the Genomic Weapon Corps. But this is a one time only thing, Soldier, don't go thinking to steal from other Squads willy nilly, because I'll be forced to Court Martial you if you get caught. Really, I will. but in this particular case, I may have sufficient reason to say I didn't see anything, soldier...
  23. Yup. Who did you think I was reffering to when I said: Hmm... Terra Omega, Spark Alpha... Our squad names are complete opposites of each other.
  24. Well... seems the little bastards live around coastlines and seas and such. Alright, here's what I can do: there's a rival squad whom I'm planning to introduce in this chapter. Things are gonna get kinda ugly and chaotic between you all and them at some point, and I can arrange for Logan to be able to Steal a Spheal from one of the soldiers in that company Sound good, Soldier?
  25. But wait Soldier, I wasn't done with just those two! yes, there's even MORE! Suggested Reading: How to conduct oneself around here
