[OOC/Sign-ups] Surge Story
Sutoratosu replied to Sutoratosu's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Alright, so here's what I've gotten so far from everyone's answers: Give Surge more lime light in the story Decrease Erick's screen time by a lot and have him interact more with the PCs when he gets screen time Ray is an alright character and persona but somewhat of a dick at times... (I kinda like him this way...) Give Oak and Rowan more screen time/ have them interact with players more often Everyone freaking LOVES the battle system we have going here Stop the isolation from the rest of the world and give some more insight as to what's going on give more info on the world's condition in the story. (Already planning a fix for this in Chapter 3 ) McCarthy is a badass Get some more organization and what not for GAO classification Try to give more attention to this like I used to... (sadly, tis always the fate of the first born child to be neglected a little more than it's younger siblings...) Address Shared Personality issue** ((**- @Murdoc: I can see what your talking about for this, especially for pretty much...all the PCs I've made for RPs here. Though I need some clarification on this; do you mean NPCs I make as well?)) the only two who have yet to answer are Flux and Bibs. And starting after Chapter 3 begins, I'm gonna start getting you guys more involved in this OCC I honestly have too many projects going to be able and go and do the massive amount of world building that;s still needed for this (Yes, yes, I know "You should've finished it before you set this thing up" well... as has already been admitted in the past, this things birth was a rather 'Jump the Gun' method....) What this means is... you all will get to help me build the rest of the world, along with mechanics for this, etc. The GAO classification system being so far behind and inadequate is indeed Ridiculous as some have stated, so for things like that I'm gonna start letting you all discuss on here soon so that some internal work can actually get down for this for once. things like research for the story will also be needed... because the research I have so far is piss poor at best. Anywhales, here's some plans for Chapter 3: Begin allowing Players to catch GAOs when they want, without having to need some host driven event to do so. (You still must get approval from me...) Introduce the hit Radio Satire Show "Bringing the Hertz!" Swap Erick and Surge in terms of who gets the Limelight Mysterious cut away scenes throughout the chapter that will foreshadow certain events in the future (and give some insight as to what's happening beyond America's borders) This is chapter is going to serve more for exploration of the area by players Introduce a rival Commander for Surge and a rival squadron for Fox1 Start having Ray question why the hell GAOs are so damn powerful in comparison to the former species of the Earth's Biosphere Set the tone of the story for war in Chapter 4 Fulfill the prophecy... Serve somewhat for Character development with some antics and action mixed in, though this will take second priority to the Exploration by Players Make the team name "Spark Alpha" official That's all I'm willing to reveal about it...- 1189 replies

Antares... did you receive Approval to participate in a PM from Chimchain? because I don't see him on here saying whether or not your character is accepted. (Generally, you have to wait for the host's approval of your sign up sheet before posting in the IC of an RP like this...)

"Oh, my power, my power!" Ethic called in a mocking, disgusted tone. "You think I honestly give two shits about your power, buddy?" He forced himself to stand back up, holding out his palm before him and concentrating some energy there. A moment later his palm became engulfed in a blazing, multi-hued aura that crackled and snapped just like fire. "Because if so, I'll tell you something... I honestly don't. Really, everyone has them done here, get over it, you ain't so special, mister murderer. Everyone's got some awesome sauce craziness they can whip up. Take mine for example: you see this light cloaking my hand? I can turn this into pretty much any shape I want. I can shoot it at someone and make it explode on impact, just by wanting it to. Hell, I can even conjure a damn sword out of this stuff if I want. You ever see a Light Saber? yeah, think of one of those." He smiled menacingly as he tapped his head with his glowing finger, shaking it in a rather smug manner. There was another thing about the Death Link and his Life Force that he hadn't covered yet... that no one knew yet... because he'd never had a chance to demonstrate it until now... Life Force could act as an accelerate to fire. Why the hell else would he have used valuable energy to bring down those two torches? This was all a set up... and this guy down below had no clue. Time to fry him... "Oh, but the best part?" Ethic asked, extending his palm out towards the ground, the blazing light grew a little more intense. "There are many meta-physical traditions all across the globe that thinks of the human soul, life force, as being akin to the element of fire... to be that small, flickering blaze that animates and gives the breath of life to all things. And you know what? I think they might have been right..." a decent sized sphere formed in his hand, taking away the energy that was pulsing on it and adding it to it's own. Ethic had to pretty much force himself to keep standing, this sphere contained pretty much all that he could spare without losing control of the spikes. He looked at the killer below contemptuously, shouting as he drew his hand back and pitched the ball of life force through the air. "They might have been right... Because I can use this stuff like GASOLINE IF I FUCKING WANT TO!" The sphere hurtled through the air, soaring over Marcus's head and landing in the wrekage of the Torch he had just dodged oh so nimbly... And the moment it made contact with those flames, Ethic willed that little sphere to burst with everything he had packed into it and then he gave it the green light to be an accelerant, going down to his hands and knees and nearly blacking out as it exploded with a resounding shockwave, transmuting from Life Force, into fire as the blaze licked up the stuff as it detonated... and Surging right towards Marcus was the fiery explosion fueled by Ethic's final attack. "This is my end game, buddy!" he shouted down from the cealing as the blast drew closer and closer to Marcus, panting heavily. "Tell you what, you manage to survive a fucking explosion like this, and I'll just let you go wherever you want! at least I'll still be able to say I gave it all I could!" -

Alright, well folks, that's it for Chapter 2. Would've been longer with a Tribunal scene, but Jory's smart and concise answering of the General's questions saved your butts from the fryer. Anyways, next up... we get to play war... and maybe it'll stop being a game half way through I'll explain everything that's going on in the story in a while since we're going to go through a three month time jump (Yes, I know I originally said only one month, but three months gives you time to get used to duty on the base such as patrol in the Forrest and manning the gates, helping train newer squadrons, etc... that and it gives more time for the international conflict to develop.) once we get to the opening of Chapter 3. I have a few things planned for this one... one of which being a little something you all will come across early in the chapter to alleviate some of the Isolation the events of the world that the sqaud has been in. I'm not gonna start the next chapter until ALL of you have turned in your answers to my End of Chapter 2 questionnaire. Afterall, it's to help me make this better for YOU. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRERZyvvhwY And yes... McCarthy just killed Perchenkov. the way he intends to interogate the bastard, all that matters is that the brain isn't damaged. The individual doesn't have to be alive during the process. The russian would've died anyway after being trialed and sentenced to death for high treason anyway (He held dual citezenship, technically speaking, ergo the US had fair shot at him)- 1189 replies

After the four had complied with the soldiers commands, the armed men surrounding them lowered their weapons, a few of them stepping up to the group and restraining their hands behind their backs with zip ties. "Nothing Personal, Cadets," the soldier who had demanded they reach for the sky said. "Just protocol... but I've honestly no doubt that whoever's behind this is really the exact same party that's responsible that's responsible for the attack earlier this morning. Just play along and stay quiet so that the General doesn't chew out all our asses." with that said, the Four found themselves being Shepard away from the Sink hole. after a few minutes of walking, however, they soon caught a rather dreadful sight... The General... and he seemed to be interrogating Jory at the moment. They could hear their Squad Mate finished up his report as they drew closer along with their Escorts... and they could also see a group of four MPs dragging a man who seemed to be out cold. *** "...." McCarthy said nothing when the young soldier finished his report... though he seemed to be in deep thought about something. The sounds of boots clicking on ruined concrete came from behind the group, along with what sounded to be someone being dragged. The old War vet Glanced over his shoulders to see a group of MPs decked out in full riot armor dragging an unconscious man who looked just like the one Jory and the others had seen. Two were holding him up on either side, while another followed behind, an assault rifle trained on the back of the man's skull, as if he could wake at any moment and become a major threat. The Forth MP of the entourage, his rank signified as a Lt. on his arm, presented the prisoner to McCarthy, the two supporting him tossing the bleeding fool to the ground. "Sir... We located Former Corporal Matthew Weather," Lt. Caraway said, his face completely obscured by the all black face shield he wore...not that it mattered, none of the Cadets had met him before anyway. "From the evidence we just gathered at the site, it is extremely likely that he is the one responsible for not only this assualt, but the one this morning as well..." McCarthy took his attention off Jory. The moment he did, Oliver and Neffertiti scampered out of the Darkness and silently returned to their trainers side. seems they had avoided detection by the MPs when they had picked up the man. "How can you be sure he commited both, Soldier?" McCarthy asked, though it seemed he wasn't all that interested in an answer. "As I filed in my report following the attack this morning, sir," Caraway took out a capsule, releasing a blob like GAO from inside... the thing looked to be out like a light, simply lying in a puddle on the ground. "Weather had somehow escaped his cell and was completely missing when the attack struck. in his place, what I found was a creature like this one here. From what primary analysis have yeilded, sir, it seems as though these may have played a key role in the enemies actions." He reached into a pocket on Matt's leg, pulling out a small bag filled with a light, bluish-gray down. "These feathers are a Genetic match to the ones we found this morning in the atrium after the bird was slain. This pink GAO is the same that was used in the plot several months ago, Sir. As demonstrated then, it seems to have to ability to transform itself into a perfect copy of any other organism at will..." McCarthy, took the bag, holding in between his finger and thumb and examining the contents in the low light. a moment later he finally noticed the rest of Surge's squad standing nearby, under the custody of several more MPs. He glanced at Surge, then his soldiers, then the MPs in attendance. a walkie-talkie on his belt crackled to life with various officers radioing in to confirm "all Clear" on the tarmac...or rather what was left in tact of it. He finally settled his gaze on Surge. "No charges for this, Staff Sergeant," he said. "Neither you nor your squadron will be brought before the tribunal..." "Thank you, Sweet Mother of Jesus Christ!" Surge cried in relief, then quickly remembering himself. "I mean...very well then sir. thank you sir." McCarthy simply ignored the initial outburst of joy from Surge. he turned to Caraway. "Leave the Tango to me," he said in a commanding tone. "Escort Fox1 to the Medical hall and ensure they receive medical treatment for both their injuries and their assigned partner's injuries. If anyone poses opposition, tell them it's on Orders of the General, which it is as of now." Caraway gave a hand signal and the MPs restraining Erick, Nathan, Logan, and Sid all cut their bindings. "Yes sir," he said simply. With that Surge began to walk forward as McCarthy pulled out his side arm and loaded a single round into the trigger. His eyes were fixed on Weather, completely unreadable. The Cadets, honestly wanting to just get the hell out of there since they weren't being arrested anymore, followed behind him without another word, Pimparella still carrying Clint gingerly, acting as a makeshift gurney and being careful not to Aggravate his Injuries. Caraway led them back out of the Airfield... And the last thing they heard before leaving from the site of their Battle that night... Was the echoing report of a gun being discharged.

Mareek looked up to the sky as a mighty roar tore through the air, so loud that even though it was probably relatively far away, he could still hear it clear as day from here. "What species was that?" He asked Java, whom was still traipsing about the software of the Pokedex. A moment later the page for Salamence came up on the screen. The trainer turned his attention back towards where the roar had echoed from the distance. "I don't think it's anything too serious... after all, Prof. Cadmus did say that all of these Dragons around here were his... Though, that Roar honestly sounded a little bit on the enraged side..." Before he could decide whether to just put or go investigate, however, a blur of blue pulsed in his peripheral vision. He didn't bother waiting to process what it was, he simply ducked as fast as he could, a water pulse bursting against the tall rock behind him, leaving the entire surface soaked. "Well...so much for what the Professor said then..." He scanned the area, trying to determine what had fired that attack just now... nothing. He looked over at the Dex next. "Java, use lock on to find where that Attack came from." The Porygon emerged from the device and did as ordered, A red glowing ring appearing in front of it's body, growing smaller and larger as it it scanned the area, finally stopping when it had pin pointed the target. The ring constricted considerably, the Pokemon in question becoming engulfed in a faint red glow that faded after a few seconds. The Porygon looked up at the boy with an unreadable expression. Neither one of them had noticed the little Horsea that had swam up to the water's edge near them until Java had locked on to it just now. "Never mind then..." Mareek walked over and knelt down in front of the Horsea, speaking in a soft tone. "Sorry, little guy, but I don't really have time to play right now. Maybe later." He then stood and looked over at Lana and some other guy talking nearby...damn, he hadn't noticed anyone approaching, had he? "Hey you two," he called. "Did you hear that Angry Salamence roar just now?" -

The moment Marcus turned his back to Ethic and started walking away, to loud streaking sound echoed through the air followed by a small explosion. One of the giant torches that had been lining the wall fell down right in-front of the man, still burning as it lay there on the stones of the floor. Ethic lowered his finger, still holding it in the shape of a gun. "What did I just fucking say!?" He snarled, his voice still echoing down from the ceiling... this time he was quite visibly pissed off. He lifted his hand again, congealing a bit of life force into his finger, forming another bullet out of the energy and firing it at another one of the Torches lining the wall. The shot hit the base of the giant burning length of wood, lodging itself deep inside. A moment later Ethic willed it to burst when he sensed it had gone far enough, breaking the giant Torch off from it's base and sending it toppling down through the air, this time headed straight for Marcus himself below. He knelt down on the ceiling, breathing a little heavier. "I've already said I can't beat you in an open fight," He said as the Torch continued to plummet towards the other man. "I obviously fucking know that, Asshole; why the hell do you think I'm even up here? I'm not coming down there or anywhere near you." Those shots weren't as powerful as he could've mustered right now, but given his already fatigued state, coupled with the fact he had to keep at least some of his focus and Reservoir devoted to maintaining the life spikes on the base of his shoes, He was already beginning to feel the limit drawing closer and closer in his mind. A few more shots was probably all he'd be able to do before things got too dangerous for him to continue this little Stall Party. -
"Very well then..." Van said, nodding at Slade. "I will train you in the way of the blade..." he stood, looking the young man in the eyes. "I will train you so that you can do what I can not... so that you may meet out the will of justice... Justice against the Silver Bloods." With those very words, Zoliver found himself plunged back into complete darkness like before... except this time, there was no dreadful feeling. their were no voices, no screaming, no wailing in grief. The young Knight opened his eyes, his vision blurry and his head swimming with throbbing pain. The back of his head felt strange, as if something were coating it... he realized it was dried blood. Someone had been kind enough to seal the wound with stitches though... Off in the distance Zoliver could see the others... gathered around some giant, white glowing spider. For some reason the ground itself was shaking...a powerful voice called out to him from the area "ah, another one...What is thine name?" *** "And you boy," Anansi said, turning his attention to Absalom, the only one who hadn't spoken. "what is thine name?" The child looked at him hesitantly for a moment before deciding it was best to just answer... no telling what this thing might be capable of. "Absalom," he said simply. The spider looked at him expectantly, prompting him to finish. "I have no Surname to give you...if that's what you want now." "Very well then..." Anansi said. Then he noticed the other man on the ground in the distance. he seemed to have just awaken. "Ah, another one... What is thine name?"

Well...The Nations war is over. This old Volcanic soldier is officially retiring to Vermilion. Hopefully the experience I gained from Nations Service will be helpful. I don't quite know exactly how Zero Alliance works yet though, so I'll have to go back and re read the rule thread and what not a little more.
-
"Yes Sir! Attention! All rise! All face the honorable Commander Notus! Salute!" *Flashes salutes all around* "Now...Volcanic...Dissolve!" Well... It's over then. Like notus said guys, it was good fighting along side you all, but this fight's over, time to place our weapons by our sides. It's been an honor battling alongside each and every one of you. serving in Volcanic taught me so much about how to battle. This nation took me from a newb to a competent player... for that, I can't thank you all enough. But remember... Volcanic shall someday rise again...No one can ever stop the Hell Fire, the Lightning, or the Smog. but until that fateful day comes... It's time for this particular Soldier to retire to Vermilion...
-
Well... wars over. Congrats, all those in Mythic. Now...it's time for this particular Volcanic solider to retire to Vermilion...

Mareek stayed by the pond as the others all ventured off else where. Quite honestly, he already knew what he needed to know about Dragons from all that Prof. Cadmus had taught in class; that and the fact that as cool as dragons were, he wasn't all that interested in actually picking one up as a team member at the moment. There were bigger priorities on his mind, while, yes, a dragon would pretty much resist a lot of things, what he needed at the moment was something to take down Rock, Fire was already covered, a bit of training to actually use Vacuum wave the right way a few weeks ago with Erce had made sure of that; he had just flat out lied to Slade when he had refused his battle... he preferred to simply keep that little tid bit about having figured out how to get rid of flames under wraps for the time being. "Stop searching already," He said to Java. He had set his Pokedex down on the rock beside him, allowing the Porygon to browse through it as much as it so pleased. "I already know what we're going to catch on the trip." Java appeared out of the screen a moment later, looking at him expectantly. "Maril," he said simply, though Java just sat there and gazed up at his trainer as if he had said 'Rattatta' or something. "Look it up, You'll see why..." The Porygon disappeared back into the dex at that remark, popping back out a moment later. This time it looked at him approvingly and nodded. "Good to see we're on the same page then," Mareek said, giving a subtle yet rather weak joke. He leaned back on the rocky outcropping he was sitting on, gazing out over the pond as his Co-Strategist went back to it's own affairs within the Electronic Database. He couldn't help but think of how helpful Java had been since they'd met back weeks ago, Porygon's were made entirely of Computer Coding and Scripting, that he already knew, But what Java was capable of seemed to go beyond simply what a few bits of programming told him to do. It was able to think ahead, to plan and counter plan and counter those counter plans, which is what made it such an excellent assistant for hashing out strategy and fight scenarios... he just hoped it wouldn't go and start acting crazy once it fully evolved, as it was commonly rumored to do... ((Feel free to start a conversation or whatever if you're in the area)) -
Eh, whatevs. Guess it's time to start having him interact with Evan and Henry and Jacob and a few others now...

"And you aren't heading near my friends over there if I can help it," Ethic snarled at the man viciously. "They have enough trouble taking on that thing right now, and a psycho path going around and stabbing them all in the jugular really wouldn't be helpful." He cycled through the Arcane Links at his disposle as he spoke... so far he still had no idea Tempernce did, but Justice's effect popped right into his head when he asked...though, sadly it couldn't really be useful in combat, and He was still too out of it to fight this guy full force using Life Blades. But that didn't matter, one way or another, Ethic was gonna keep this bastard right where he was. "And don't even try that 'Innocent bystander' horse shit from earlier!" He shouted down from the ceiling. "I know damn well that whoever the fuck you are, you probably really are the one that killed Mr.Taylor. Then couple that with the fact you killed me not long ago... look bub, I don't know how deceptive you fancy yourself, but I can guarantee you that after I get word to the others, they're not gonna fall for the horse shit." Even though he knew he could win no fight against this absolute freak of nature, he drew his black blade from his belt loop regardless. The hate in his stare was very real, but no where close to what it had once been back when the bloodlust of Death caressed his mind. "You're staying right here, bucko" He said defiantly, gazing down at the fellow far below. "Because there's no way in hell you're getting over to the others while I'm still alive and able to fight. I saw how you handled that giant down there. I know damn well I can't win against you in open combat... But I'm still gonna serve as a wall to your advancement for as long as I can." -
let's be honest, Jacob is using the much sounder tactic, whereareas Slade is trying to have flare fight like a complete Street Scrapper, just going in for attack and attack and not letting up. Jacob's just sitting there calmly and taking advantage of Slade's over-eagerness. at the current rate, I think it's obvious who's gonna end up winning.

I find that simply using set story branching points (like I'm trying to do in PSS) works fine rather than trying something as intensively as real time event crafting and plot effecting... given that like Aqui already said A) it causes a lot more stress on the host with the work they have to do, and trying something like it could potentially derail the primary plot if people lose focus of the main conflict, whereareas with Pre planned Plot branching opportunities, every major choice made by players pretty much just activates a contingency plan for the plot, making it far harder to derail things. I tend to set it up like this: What is the main goal? what do the players have to ultimately do to get there? Then: alright, there's the major goal. Now, set up smaller goals. after that set up even smaller goals to acheive those smaller goals. And in between this web of major and minor goals, I try to think of ways that the players can affect the way that goal is achieved, or even if that goal is still relevant after the PC choices. This is a rather shitty job of explaining it, so I'll try an Example: massive spoilers for Group B in Project Sky Slayer Eh... actually, this is kinda a crappy example of what I'm trying to get across too... I'll try again tomorrow.

Ethic watched in complete silence as this guy below finished off the Giant like it was nothing more than absolute fodder. This definitely confirms it... He thought to himself. This guy can't be human...Actually...come to think of it, didn't I get warned by the Hermit Arcana about him a lot earlier? He took a moment and thought about it, realizing that he had indeed been given some warning vision of this guy back in the library... the face from them and now was definitely the same one. And to make it even worse, whatever the hell this guy might be, he was heading over towards the others. They would have enough trouble with Cerberus (Well, at least that's what the big ass, three headed mut over yonder looked like to Ethic from what bits and peices of Greek Mythos he knew), and if this guy got into the mix... it wouldn't end well at all. Looks like it was time to stop watching and step in... but he was gonna have a little fun with this. Might as well confuse the enemy "I wonder if I can pull off an Obama voice?" he muttered to himself quietly. Only one to find out... "Now, stop...no, that's it... Now, uh...stop right there you...nah...still wrong..." he cleared his voice, pressing his hand against his mouth the muffle the sound. "Now uh... stop right there young man, this is your president speaking." Ethic smiled as he heard his impression of the president. And the best part about was that he had been more or less quiet about it; there was no way the guy below would've been able to hear anything; from what Ethic had seen so far; this fool only had super-strength and dexterity... not super hearing. time to roll. "Now uh... Young Man, stop right there," he said in a voice that damn near perfectly mimicked Barak Obama's. Just like from before when he fought Longicus; the ceilings acoustics caused a reverberating echo that made it impossible to tell where he was up in the darkness. "This is your president speaking. Now... I've recently been informed that you've made a bit of a massive enterprise off of murdering others. Well, I am here to tell you: You didn't built that; Someone else made that happen!" Hopefully that bit of randomness would be enough to stale the guy... though he had no idea how long he keep this super powered psycho-path distracted with this shenanigan... -
Lols... I somehow get drawn into this without ever getting involved in the first place...No, rather, I get sucked in even despite me intentionally avoiding this. anyways, noooo to that idea, Dobby, because 1. Ol' Stratos here don't much care for bromance personally. 2. Stratos also ain't got no time for romance any ways; I've got serious ambitions to satisfy and will not rest until I do. 3. for the reason Hukuna already said about getting annoyed after a while; Some personalities can do alright in short interactions, but don't mix at all during extended periods of constant exposure.
